AJ Styles/Jeff Hardy/Rey Mysterio/Samoa Joe/The Miz Segment
Smackdown kicked off with the likes of AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe and The Miz making their way down to the ring one after the other. All five men had the exact same reasoning for making their presence known, that being to throw their name in the hat for a future shot at the WWE Championship.


Paige Segment
In her office Paige was watching the opening segment as it concluded and stated that she had a great idea for the main event of the evening. That main event would be a five way match between Styles, Hardy, Mysterio, Joe and Miz, with the winner challenging for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.


WWE United States Championship - Open Challenge
Rusev with Lana(c) VS Aiden English
The "Bulgarian Brute" wasted little time, in his mission to retain the WWE United States Championship by demolishing his former tag team partner.

The Bar Segment
Charlie Caruso interviewed the pair of Cesaro and Sheamus aka The Bar(c) about what they have planned for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship for the new year? They replied that they aren't just The Bar, they set The Bar for the rest of the locker room.



Singles Match
Billie Kay with Peyton Royce VS Mandy Rose with Sonya Deville
Royce caused a distraction by attacking Deville at ringside which created an opening in the ring for Kay to roll her opponent up.
Winner: Billie Kay



Daniel Bryan Segment
The current WWE Champion launched into a very over the top promo about how unfair the main event was to him. He concluded the promo by stating that in the end it didn't matter to him, who became the number one contender as he would beat them.



Tag Team Match
SaNiTy with Eric Young & Nikki Cross VS Epico & Primo
Wolfe and Primo kicked the next contest off for their respective teams with the former dominating the latter from the get go. Eventually, Wolfe made the tag to Dain who proceeded across the ring and sent Epico flying off of the apron. Then he and Wolfe grabbed Primo and laid waste to him with a Powerbomb/Neckbreaker combination.

Paige Segment
Once again her office TNS General Manager Paige announced that Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Naomi would face off next week. In a number one contenders triple threat, with the winner going onto the Royal Rumble to challenge for the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship.



Five Way - Number One Contender - WWE Championship
AJ Styles VS Jeff Hardy VS Rey Mysterio VS Samoa Joe VS The Miz
The night closed out with the promised five way number one contenders match to determine the next challenger for the WWE Championship. Which saw the likes of AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe and The Miz. Clash with one and other for the right to challenge Daniel Bryan(c) at the Royal Rumble pay per view. Given that there was a total of five different men inside the ring and taking part in the main event it was utter chaos from start to finish. In the end, it would see Mysterio manage to turn an attempted Skull Crushing Finale from Miz into a pinning predicament for the win.

Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins Segment
The show began with Dean Ambrose making his way through the backstage area when he was ambushed by a vengeful Seth Rollins. The pair of current (Ambrose) and former (Rollins) WWE Intercontinental Champions proceeded to brawl for several minutes. Until the were forcibly separated by a group of producers, referees and security guards.


Kurt Angle Segment
A visibly flustered Angle didn't hesitate to lay down the law of the land from his office, and stated that the main event. Would still be a rematch for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, however it would now be contested under no disqualifications.



Lucha House Party VS Elias/Konnor/Viktor
Finally, the opening contest began as the trio of masked marvels (LHP) clashed with the bizarre trio of Elias and The Ascension. Kalisto led his team to victory by way of pinfall over Viktor following his successful attempt at his Salida Del Sol.

Bobby Roode & Chad Gable, Winning the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship Video
A video package recapped the last episode of RAW of 2018 where, Bobby Roode and Chad Gable capturing the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship.



WWE RAW Tag Team Championship
Bobby Roode & Chad Gable(c) VS Authors of Pain
Roode and Akam started the match and went back and forth for the opening minutes of this championship rematch. Eventually Roode made the tag to Gable, while at the same time Akam did the same thing with Rezar, after a few minutes Gable took control. Then proceeded to showcase immense strength by way of hoisting his opponent up with a huge German Suplex for the win.

Baron Corbin/Zack Ryder Confrontation
A video recapped a confrontation between Baron Corbin and Zack Ryder from earlier in the day, which saw the latter challenge the former to a match for tonight.



Singles Match
Baron Corbin VS Zack Ryder
The "Lone Wolf" kicked his opponent below the belt which was unseen by the referee and then rolled him up for the win.
Winner: Baron Corbin



Kurt Angle Segment
In his second appearance of the night, Kurt Angle announced that Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens. Would all compete in a four way number one contender match next week, with the winner challenging for the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.



Tag Team Match
Heavy Machinery VS The Revival
Tucker Knight clashed with Dash Wilder for a few minutes of back and forth action before they both made the tag to Otis Dozovic and Scott Dawson. Dawson would implement some questionable tactics to take control of Dozovic, so much so that he was able to tag Wider back in. Who knocked Knight off the apron then they hit the Shatter Machine on Dozovic for the win.

Ronda Rousey Segment
"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey aka the WWE RAW Women's Champion sent a warning to both Natalya and Sasha Banks ahead of the N1C match. She told them that whoever wins the match, would be leaving the Royal Rumble with a sore arm.



Number One Contender - RAW Women's Championship
Natalya VS Sasha Banks
In a battle of submission specialists, Natalya went one on one with Sasha Banks to determine a contender for the WWE RAW Women's Championship. In a completely shocking upset of a result, the former got the win by way of the Sharpshooter.

Braun Strowman Interview
Cathy Kelley interviewed the "Monster Among Champions" Braun Strowman(c) to get his thoughts on the four way match next week? The WWE Universal Champion replied by stating that he looked forward to facing whoever wins the match.



WWE Intercontinental Championship - No Dq
Dean Ambrose(c) VS Seth Rollins
The main event saw Dean Ambrose(c) and Seth Rollins wage war with each other over the WWE Intercontinental Championship. In a hellish no disqualification affair, which could have gone either way and the WWE Universe would be happy with the result. In the closing moments of the main event, Ambrose planted Rollins with the Dirty Deeds on a steel chair.

Post-Match
Bobby Lashley and his hype man Lio Rush ambushed Ambrose and levelled him then Lashley posed with the title.

The show began with the WWE Champion making his way down to the ring, and along the way made sure to antagonize the members of the WWE Universe in attendance. Once inside the ring he stated that he didn't care about facing the "Master of the 619" at the Royal Rumble. Then followed this up by telling Mysterio to pay close attention to what he does to his opponent tonight.



Championship Eliminator
WWE Champion Daniel Bryan(c) VS Akira Tozawa
Bryan proceeded to quickly and precisely take apart Tozawa concluding by damn near caving his head in with a Busaiku Knee.
Winner: WWE Champion Daniel Bryan




Champion and Contender go Face to Face
After the conclusion of the opening contest the number one contender (Mysterio) sprinted down to the ring and went face to face with Bryan. The latter just smirked and then exited the ring, stating that they would do this at the Royal Rumble.



Tag Team Match
Fire & Desire VS The Iconics
Royce took the fight to Rose for several minutes, then the latter was able to create some distance between them and make the tag to Deville. Who stopped Royce from tagging in Kay, and dominated Royce before putting her to sleep with a Triangle Choke.
Winners: Fire & Desire



Asuka Segment
The "Empress of Tomorrow" and reigning WWE Smackdown Women's Champion cut a promo ahead of the number one contender triple threat main event. She stated that it didn't matter if it was Lynch or Flair or Naomi, she would prove at the Royal Rumble that no one is ready for ASUKA!




Championship Eliminator
Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Bar(c) VS SaNiTy with Eric Young & Nikki Cross
Killian Dain and Sheamus clashed with the two Irishmen beating the absolute shit out of each other as a result, then Sheamus tagged in Cesaro. Who continued the fight with Dain and even was able to get a near pinfall over him which was broken up by Alexander Wolfe. Eventually the ending of the match came about with Wolfe managing to pin Cesaro following a Death Valley Driver.
Winners: SaNiTy



Paige/Rusev/Lana Segment
WWE United States Champion Rusev(c) with Lana made their way into the office of TNS GM Paige and said he wanted to discuss a possible title defense. He said he wanted to test himself and defend the title in a four way open challenge at the Royal Rumble and Paige agreed.



Number One Contender - Smackdown Women's Championship
Becky Lynch VS Charlotte Flair VS Naomi
Smackdown concluded with a thrilling women's division triple threat encounter to crown a number one contender to the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship. Each of the three participants got to showcase their respective in ring skills, but in the end only one of the three could be crowned the victor. Which came to an end after Naomi pinned Flair with the Rear View.

The show opened with WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman in the ring where he proceeded to deliver a warning ahead of the number one contenders match. Which boiled down to the point that at the Royal Rumble whoever he faced would GET THESE HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tag Team Match
Ronda Rousey & Natalya VS Samoan Slaughterhouse
Despite being destined to be opponents come the Royal Rumble, the pair of RAW Women's Champion and Number One Contender. Made rather good tag team partners as they took on and defeated the pair of Nia Jax and Tamina. The ending, saw Natalya trap Tamina in the Sharpshooter which forced the latter to eventually tap out to the hold.
Winners: Ronda Rousey & Natalya


Bobby Roode & Chad Gable Segment
The WWE RAW Tag Team Champions cut a promo about willing to take on any and all potential challengers in the future.



Number One Contender - RAW Tag Team Championship
Lucha House Party with Kalisto VS The Revival
Gran Metalik faced off with Scott Dawson in the opening few minutes of the next contest then tagged in Lince Dorado who fought some more with the latter. Eventually though Dawson was able to make the tag to Dash Wilder who took the fight to Dorado. In the climax of this number one contenders outing saw a rather strange double pinfall situation between Wilder and Dorado.
Winners: Draw - Both LHP and The Revival will challenge for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship


Dean Ambrose Segment
The Intercontinental Champion promised to make both Bobby Lashley and his little pet Lio Rush pay for making his business their business.


Six Woman Tag Team Match
Bayley/Ember Moon/Sasha Banks VS Riott Squad
Ember Moon got the win for her trio of babyfaces by way of pinfall over Sarah Logan following the Eclipse off the top rope.
Winners: Bayley/Ember Moon/Sasha Banks


Kurt Angle Segment
In his office MNR General Manager Kurt Angle confirmed that despite the way they went about putting their names forward both Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush. Would indeed challenge Dean Ambrose for the WWE Intercontinental Championship later on.

Singles Match
Baron Corbin VS Zack Ryder
Ryder managed to get some revenge over the "Lone Wolf" thanks to the Rough Ryder.
Winner: Zack Ryder


Kurt Angle Segment
Angle made another appearance and announced that the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship would be on the line. At the Royal Rumble pay per view event, in a triple threat tag team outing between Roode/Gable, LHP and The Revival.



WWE Intercontinental Championship
Dean Ambrose(c) VS Bobby Lashley VS Lio Rush
Despite this match being advertised as a triple threat, it would play out more like a two on one handicap outing. Ambrose took the fight to both of his opponents, and held his own in the short term however he would eventually he would fall to the numbers game.

Dolph Ziggler/Drew McIntyre/Finn Balor/Kevin Owens Promos
A series of promos from the men involved in the main event, aired ahead of said main event, Ziggler said it was time for a showoff universe. McIntyre promised to destroy any and all foolish enough to face him, Balor wanted to reclaim the title he never really lost. While Owens kept it short and to the point, that point being that he is a Prize Fighter and he wanted the Universal Championship again.


Number One Contender - Universal Championship
Dolph Ziggler VS Drew McIntyre VS Finn Balor VS Kevin Owens
RAW closed out with a four way main event to determine the next Number One Contender to the WWE Universal Championship. Each member of the participating quartet brought something different to the main event, Ziggler's arrogant self indulgence, McIntyre's chaotic barbarism, Balor's plucky determination and Owens precession. The main event concluded with McIntyre damn near causing Ziggler to turn inside out with a Claymore for the deciding pinfall.
