WWE Monday Night Raw
September 28th, 2009
Albany, New York

Raw opens up with some wrestling this week, folks…

Match One
CM Punk and John Cena vs. Priceless

As the match begins, there’s a bit of a feeling out process. Mainly because Priceless don’t want to make an inexperienced mistake that cost them, but also because Punk and Cena are weary of each other. As this process takes place, our commentary team take the moment to announce that at No Mercy, CM Punk, John Cena and John Morrison would team up to take on Mr. Kennedy and Priceless in a Six Man Tag Team Match!!!

Once the action starts picking up somewhat, Punk dominates DiBiase with some of his big kicks. Eventually both men tag out and when Cena and Cody enter the ring, the tension picks up. There clearly seems to be a deeper issue between these two after the last few weeks, with their exchanges of punches being VERY heated.

Cena got the advantage in the striking exchange and looked to take care of Cody, but Rhodes is resourceful. He manages to use some amateur wrestling to takedown Cena anytime he gains to much momentum, or he’s not afraid to push Cena into the Priceless corner, allowing DiBiase to land a cheap shot.

These tactics allow Cody and DiBiase to isolate Cena for a few minutes, but Cena eventually comes back and makes the hot tag to Punk. PUNK ENTERS THE RING WITH A SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE… TAKING DOWN CODY!!!

As Punk scrambles to his feet, DiBiase tries to get the jump on him, but can’t. Punk meets him with multiple kicks, eventually forcing Ted to bail to the outside in the hopes of getting a reprieve. He doesn’t though as Punk runs across the ring… TOPE SUICIDA TAKES OUT DIBIASE ON THE OUTSIDE!!!

As usual, it’s a big pop from the fans for the impressive high risk move. Punk pumps up the fans further, really feeling it as we cut to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

When we got back from the break, we see Punk bouncing off the ropes to build some speed… BUT DIBIASE TRIPS HIM UP FROM THE OUTSIDE!!!

Punk trips and lands face first onto the canvas. He hurries to push himself onto his knees, but before he can get to his feet, Cody levels him with a Dropkick! From here, Punk gets isolated, with the IC Champ being worked over. Much to the chagrin of the crowd, Priceless don’t hesitate to cheat to keep Punk down either.

They focus on the head and neck area, including applying devastating Orton Locks, which they’ve clearly learned from their leader. Anyway, they can’t quite put Punk away, and eventually Punk is able to duck a Clothesline attempt from DiBiase… AND THEN NAIL A STEP UP ENZUIGURI!!!

Both men are down for a few moments, but with the fans urging him on, Punk crawls across the ring and makes the hot tag to Cena. Cena gets in and has both Cody and DiBiase coming at him, but he’s able to clean house on both men with hard right hands and Clotheslines. Once DiBiase stays down after a hard shot, CENA NAILS CODY WITH THE PROTO BOMB!!!

He then bounces off the ropes and dusts off the shoulder… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE!!!

Cody’s hurt but slowly starts working to his feet, and Cena stalks him, thinking FU. Suddenly, DiBiase grabs Cena from behind… DREAM STREET!!!

NO!!! CENA DESPERATELY STARTS THROWING ELBOWS, BREAKING FREE!!!

As DiBiase staggers across the ring, feeling the effect of the elbows to the head, Punk runs at him… CACTUS CLOTHESLINE TAKES BOTH PUNK AND DIBIASE FLYING OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Meanwhile, Punk’s help has allowed Cena to focus back in on Cody, who finally makes it to his feet… FU!!!

NO!!! CODY SLIDES OUT BEHIND CENA!!!

Cena quickly turns to face Cody, but turns into a kick to the gut, CODY NAILS A DDT!!!

On the outside of the ring, Punk and DiBiase have continued to brawl, WHEN DIBIASE PUSHES PUNK FACE FIRST INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

DiBiase slides back inside of the ring, and after a quick conversation, Cody starts pulling Cena to his feet. Once Cena is up… PRICELESS SET UP CENA FOR THE MILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT!!!

NO!!! PUNK TACKLES CODY DOWN TO THE CANVAS AS HE WAS RUNNING THE ROPES!!!

Landing on top of Cody… PUNK IMMEDIATELY SYNCHS IN THE ANACONDA VICE!!!

On the other side of the ring, Cena manages to shove DiBiase off of him, who was still looking for the Million Dollar Dream. DiBiase stumbles a few steps away, before turning back to Cena… WHO LIFTS DIBIASE UP FOR THE FU!!!

NO!!!

DIBIASE THROWS HIS OWN ELBOWS TO BREAK FREE…

AND THEN HE NAILS CENA WITH THE MILLION DOLLAR SWEEPSTAKES!!!

At the same time, Cody rakes the eyes of Punk to break the Vice, AS DIBIASE PINS CENA…1…2…NO!!! CENA JUST GOT HIS SHOULDER UP!!!

After stomping on Punk, Cody joins DiBiase and again, the former tag champs focus in on Cena. They drag him to his feet… MILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT!!!

NO!!! THIS TIME PUNK INTERRUPTS BY DROPPING DIBIASE WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE HEAD!!!

Obviously this means DiBiase lets go of Cena, so when Cody runs at Cena, Cena is free. Cena catches Cody, hoisting him up on his shoulders… FU!!!

NO!!! INSTEAD, CENA LAUNCHES CODY INTO PUNK’S KNEE…

IT’S A DOUBLE TEAM GO TO SLEEP!!!

The fans mark out for the unique double team, as all Cody can do is roll underneath the bottom rope and to the outside. Punk knows his role here, watching guard, as Cena waits for DiBiase to stumble to his feet… FU!!!

CENA HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: CM Punk and John Cena @ 16:58

The fans are pumped as two of the biggest fan favourites on the roster pick up a hard fought victory to kick off Raw. Punk and Cena are respectful and polite enough to celebrate together, happy to achieve the victory tonight. They head to the back together, knowing whilst they’re on the same page tonight, they might not be down the track, seeming that both men want the WWE Championship…

At the commentary station, MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER run us through the rest of the card, which includes a big time main event. It’s the return of D GENERATION X as SHAWN MICHAELS and TRIPLE H face the team of WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON and VLADIMIR KOSLOV. With the hype out of the way, the show cuts to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Standing alone in the back, staring into the camera is the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON. Looking like a million bucks, Orton has a confident look on his face, as he addresses everybody through the camera.

Randy Orton: I wanted to make this public service announcement to set the expectations for tonight’s main event. I know everybody is excited for the return of DX, but there will be no grand reunion for DX tonight. Mark my words, what me and my business associate Vladimir Koslov do to DX would be better classified as a massacre than a match.

Veins popping from his temple, Orton looks intensely into the camera, until we cut away…

Later on in the show…

Now we skip to the end of the night, the final commercial break is over, and…

***BREAK IT DOWN***

The pop is ENORMOUS as the arena glows in the familiar green light, and D GENERATION X make their entrance. Both SHAWN MICHAELS and TRIPLE H are covered in the shitty glow sticks which became a part of the later years DX act. They both strut down the ring, slapping hands with the fans and making the ‘X’ with their arms. Once in the ring, they set off their pyro, crotch chopping like it’s 1997, before both men get themselves microphones. Shawn and Hunter have an off mic conference, where they agree that Triple H will go first.

Triple H: Albany, New York… Are you ready?

Quite the loud ovation from the fans, but Hunter screws up his face.

Triple H: Hmm, No, I don’t think do, Albany. I don’t think you heard me. I said… ARE…Y-…

***VOICES***

The heat is deafening as a smirking RANDY ORTON has interrupted the beloved DX intro. Shawn and Triple H are both irritated as Orton slowly saunters down the ramp, WWE Championship around his waist. At the foot of the ramp, Orton slowly uses the top rope to pull himself onto the apron. He’s weary of being attacked…

WHEN DX GET ATTACKED FROM BEHIND!!!

LEGACY – CODY RHODES, MR. KENNEDY AND TED DIABIASE HAVE COME THROUGH THE CROWD TO SURPRISE DX!!!

The beatdown is on and Orton quickly joins in. He pauses to signal for somebody to make their way out from the back. To make matters worse for DX, that somebody who comes down is VLADIMIR KOSLOV.

DX continue to be pummelled with punches and stomps, until Koslov starts manhandling Michaels. Using his brute strength, Koslov just throws the smaller man around the ring.

Suddenly, the mood in the arena changes as JOHN CENA SLIDES INTO THE RING…

AND HE’S WIELDING A STEEL CHAIR!!!

Cody runs at Cena… CENA CRUSHES CODY’S SKULL WITH A CHAIR SHOT!!!

DIABIASE GETS NAILED WITH THE CHAIR IN THE HEAD TOO!!!

When Cena turns to do more damage, Kennedy gets a surprise Double Legged Takedown on Cena. Kennedy mounts Cena and begins hammering away with right hands… WHEN KENNEDY GETS DRAGGED OUTSIDE OF THE RING…

BY CM PUNK!!!

Punk and Kennedy immediately renew their heated rivalry, exchanging right hands. Their brawl quickly escalates and they head up the ramp and through the curtain, out of sight.

As Punk and Kennedy were disappearing, DX with the help of Cena were able to recover, when CHRIS JERICHO ENTERED OUT OF NOWHERE AND RAKED MICHAELS’ BAD EYE!!!

Shawn’s forced to deal with those issues whilst Triple H actually leaves the ring. The fans begin to wonder what Hunter’s doing, when he searches underneath the ring, finally finding a SLEDGEHAMMER.

Getting back into the ring in a hurry, TRIPLE H STABS CODY IN THE RIBS WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

H TURNS AND NAILS DIABIASE IN THE SKULL WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

NOW TRIPS NAILS JERICHO IN THE RIBS WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

It’s raining sledgehammer shots, much to the delight of New York. Now Triple H comes face to face with Koslov, which gets a huge reaction from the fans. They stare each other down, and then Hunter loads up the sledgehammer… SLEDGEHAMMER TO THE SKULL OF KOSLOV!!!

NO!!! KOSLOV BLOCKS IT… RIPS THE HAMMER OUT OF HUNTER’S HANDS AND THROWS IT OUTSIDE THE RING!!!

It’s an incredible feat and Hunter looks in shock. Triple H then shrugs… AND TACKLES KOSLOV… SENDING BOTH MEN TUMBLING THROUGH THE ROPES AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

The brawl between these two continues outside the ring, as a bunch of security and road agents look to get in between the heavy hitters.

Meanwhile, inside the ring, Orton picks up the STEEL CHAIR used earlier, and stalks Michaels, who’s working to his feet. Once Michaels is on his feet… STEEL CHAIR TO THE SKULL OF MICHAELS!!!

NO!!! SWEET CHIN MUSIC SENDS THE CHAIR CRASHING BACK INTO THE FACE OF THE WWE CHAMPION!!!

A big cheer comes from the turning of the tables. Dazed and confused, Orton rolls to the outside and after all the carnage, Shawn Michaels is the last man standing inside the ring. HBK picks up Orton’s dropped WWE Title and raises it high in the air, picturing himself as champion, which may become a reality this Sunday, whilst the show fades to black…

Great buildup for HBK. Glad I am on the right path by asking about him in the previous post lol. I just don't think Orton can lose yet, he is way too hot. Excited to see how this one plays out for sure.

The smoke is still in the air after the opening pyro, as the entrants for our first featured match start making their way towards the ring…

Match One
CM Punk, John Cena and John Morrison vs. Mr. Kennedy and Priceless

It’s worth noting that from the moment the bell rings, things aren’t all rosy on the babyface team. Cena seems to be able to get along with both his partners, however Punk and Morrison have a long history, dating back to ECW in 2007. They have several tense moments, stare downs, and even rough tags in the early stages, with Cena forced numerous times to manage the conflict and keep them on the same page.

Despite the issues though, the babyface team are on top in the early stages, with Cody Rhodes being the unlucky man from the heel team. Cody gets brutalised and thrown around by all three of his opponents, until he managed to make a desperation tag to Kennedy. Once Kennedy is in, Punk begs for the tag and gets it and things pick up, with their violence and hatred fuelled feud continuing.

Things eventually settle down and Cena gets tagged back in. It’s from here where the heels impressively get on top, and they manage to isolate Cena. It’s a brief heat period, but they keep him down, working over his back and midsection. The former WWE Champion does eventually fight back, before crawling to his corner and making the hot tag to Morrison.

JoMo comes in all guns blazing and starts dominating both members of Priceless with his high flying, flashy offense. The numbers look like they are going to catch up to Morrison, but Punk steps in, and the two rivals work together. They pair off with Morrison handling Cody and Punk handling DiBiase. They both send their respective opponent into corners of the ring, before charging in after them… MORRISON AND PUNK LAND STEREO CORNER KNEE STRIKES!!!

The fans pop for the moment, as PUNK BRINGS DIBIASE OUT OF THE CORNER WITH HIS PATENTED BIG BULLDOG!!!

Meanwhile, MORRISON SPRINGBOARDS OFF THE ROPES… SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI TO CODY!!!

NO!!! MR. KENNEDY GRABS MORRISON FROM THE APRON AND HANGS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE!!!

Morrison looks shocked, grabbing at his throat as he somehow remains on his feet… CODY COMES FROM BEHIND WITH A ROLL UP…1…2…NO!!! PUNK DIVES TO BREAK UP THE COUNT!!!

An annoyed Cody scrambles to his feet, but Punk is right there, greeting him with a series of kicks to the chest. With Cody reeling, Kennedy gets into the ring and looks to run at Punk from behind, but Punk senses it… PUNK DROPS KENNEDY WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE HEAD!!!

Kennedy falls to the canvas but on instinct pulls himself back up, leaning against the ropes to stay upright. Morrison runs towards Kennedy… MORRISON CLOTHESLINES KENNEDY OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

After disposing of Kennedy, Morrison makes his way over to his teams corner and tags Cena back into the match. Instead of stepping onto the apron, Morrison notices Kennedy back on his feet outside the ring. Morrison runs off the ropes… CORKSCREW PLANCHA TAKES OUT KENNEDY ON THE CONCRETE FLOOR!!!

Inside of the ring, Punk is still hanging about despite not being the legal man. Punk and Cena take turns landing right hands on Cody, pinballing around the ring. The two then show some impressive teamwork of their own, landing an interesting combination move… PUNK HITS A RUNNING SOLE BUTT… AS CENA NAILS A THROWBACK ON CODY!!!

Punk gets up and turns to the fans, leaning over the ropes and working up the fans for a louder ovation. The IC Champ takes to long, and when he turns around… DIBIASE LANDS A CACTUS CLOTHESLINE… SENDING HIMSELF AND PUNK TUMBLING OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Inside the ring, Cena stalks Cody, who slowly staggers to his feet… PROTOBOMB!!!

Cena stands over the downed Cody, before bouncing off the ropes and dusting off the shoulder… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE!!!

Cena and the fans are filling it now, the ovation getting louder, as ‘The Champ’ signals it’s time for the FU. Once Cody works back to his feet, Cena hoists Cody onto his shoulders… FU!!!

NO!!! DIBIASE COMES FROM BEHIND WITH A CHOP BLOCK TO CENA!!!

The blow sends Cena falling to his knees and allows Cody to break free. Once Cody is back on his feet… CODY NAILS CENA WITH A SNAP DDT!!!

CODY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! MORRISON MAKES THE SAVE!!!

Outnumbered but determined, Morrisons starts laying into both members of Priceless with forearms to the jaw. He keeps it going for as long as he can, when DiBiase just wraps Morrison up in a Bear Hug, allowing Cody to come from behind… SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE FROM PUNK TAKES OUT CODY!!!

As Punk scrambles back to his feet, DiBiase has discarded Morrison and he grabs Punk… MILLION DOLLAR DREAM!!!

NO!!! MORRISON HITS DIBIASE WITH A SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI TO SAVE PUNK!!!

Morrison and Punk share an awkward look being left in the ring alone. Both probably didn’t expect to save each other in the last sixty seconds. Before either man can react, Kennedy trips up Morrison from the outside and drags him out of the ring. Kennedy and Morrison start exchanging blows on the outside, in a full blown brawl immediately… CM PUNK TAKES THEM BOTH DOWN WITH A TOPE SUICIDA!!!

The fans cheer loudly for the move, even if Punk took out one of his partners in the process. Back inside of the ring, Cena runs through Cody with a big Clothesline. He then turns to notice that DiBiase is struggling to his feet, so Cena puts DiBiase on his shoulders… FU!!!

NO!!! DIBIASE STARTS HITTING FRANTIC ELBOWS TO THE HEAD!!!

Cena relinquishes his grip and DiBiase swivels down Cena’s back, landing behind him… MILLION DOLLAR DREAM!!!

NO!!! CENA GRABS DIABIASE’S HANDS, FIGHTING IT, NOT LETTING HIM GET HIS HANDS LOCKED!!!

As the battle continues, Cody gets back to his feet and kicks Cena in the gut to soften him up. Before DiBiase can lock in the hold properly, MORRISON GRABS HIM FROM NOWHERE AND HITS AN STO ACROSS HIS KNEE!!!

Meanwhile, on the floor, Kennedy has managed to get the better of Punk… AND KENNEDY RAMS PUNK HEADFIRST INTO THE RING POST!!!

Inside of the ring, MORRISON NAILS A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO CODY!!!

MORRISON FOLLOWS UP WITH THE MOONLIGHT DRIVE!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY INTERRUPTS WITH A KICK TO THE MORRISON’S GUT…

KENNEDY TAKES DOWN MORRISON WITH THE MIC CHECK!!!

In trouble, instinct kicks in for Morrison and he rolls outside of the ring. The arrogant Kennedy gets back to his feet confidently, admiring his handiwork, until he turns into an FU!!!

NO!!! CODY GOT A THUMB TO CENA’S EYE TO PREVENT THE MOVE!!!

Cena rubs at his eye, momentarily blinded as Kennedy slides down to his feet. DiBiase comes from behind and shoves Cena in the back… CENA STUMBLES INTO A SPINEBUSTER FROM KENNEDY!!!

Cena is left all alone inside the ring, as Priceless now pull him up… MILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT CONNECTS!!!

CODY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! PUNK DIVES AND MAKES THE SAVE!!!

Punk scrambles back to his feet… ONLY TO GET DECAPITATED WITH A LARIAT TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD BY KENNEDY!!!

Punk drops to the canvas, barely moving. With a glint in his eye, Kennedy roughly brings Punks back up, only to throw him outside of the ring. Now that space is cleared, Priceless pull Cena back up and they hit a DREAM STREET/DEAD END RHODES COMBO WHICH WE’RE CALLING THE MILLION DOLLAR STIMULUS PACKAGE!!!

CODY PINS CENA…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Mr. Kennedy and Priceless @ 19:32

The crowd reaction isn’t necessarily heat initially, instead stunned silence as it’s a CLEAN victory for the heels here. Despite their impressive performance, they don’t hang around the ring to long, Priceless and Kennedy opting to take their celebration up the ramp instead.

The heat from the fans finally does kick in, but the Legacy members don’t mind, continuing to celebrate. Meanwhile, on commentary, Michael Cole talks about how big of a deal it is that they pinned John Cena here tonight as well.

As the celebration at the top of the ramp continues, we cut to a new scene…

We cut backstage where standing on his own, fists taped and ready for action is a heavy breathing, intense looking TRIPLE H.

Triple H: Tonight, I put a guy in his place who’s basically been unbeatable since showing up on Raw. Vladimir Koslov is big and strong and powerful, but I don’t give a damn. I didn’t become ‘The Game’ by being intimidated.

Hunter snarls into the camera, wanting to look like a bad ass.

Triple H: Being a student of this business and knowing how to beat any opponent at any time in any way is how I became ‘The Game’. Koslov’s strength’s don’t matter to me, because regardless of your size, regardless of your strength, regardless of your style, the inevitable always happens. I put them all down. I have what it takes to beat you tonight, Koslov, the Pedigree is the key to the job.

The look in H’s eyes, he’s speaking what he believes is the truth.

Triple H: After I take care of Koslov tonight, I move back to focusing on the thing that Randy Orton has employed Koslov to distract me from. I have my eyes back on the WWE Championship.

Trips seems ready to go, as he continues to mean mug the camera, until the feed cuts away…

After the next match, we head to the LEGACY locker room. Non member CHRIS JERICHO and the leader, the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON are deep in discussion when the rest of the group walk in. Full of smiles after their win in tonight’s opening match, CODY RHODES, MR. KENNEDY and TED DIBIASE wait to see what the reaction from Orton will be. He looks them up and down for a moment, before showing the slightest hint of a grin.

Randy Orton: Now that’s how you set the tone for the night… Congratulations.

Jericho nods along in the background.

Chris Jericho: Congrats guys.

Orton now walks over to Cody, placing a hand on his shoulder.

Randy Orton: I wanted to give a special mention to you, Cody, what you did out there tonight was no small feat. I am very proud that you followed in my footsteps by cleanly defeating Cena.

The champion rubs his jaw, looking away to think over his next words. This gives DiBiase and Cody to share quizzical looks, Orton had PLENTY of help to beat Cena. Orton never notices the look.

Randy Orton: In terms of the gameplan for the rest of the night, as for my WWE Championship match tonight, I’m not worried. I have Michaels under control, but there’s some other matches that interest me. I think we should discuss some of the other matches tonight.

Of course, it’s just a cryptic message, because before the actual matches in question can be answered, Kennedy ushers the camera man out of the room…

After another match takes place, the cameras pick up a random hallway in the back, where the man who challenges for the WWE Championship tonight, SHAWN MICHAELS stands. Already in his gear, Michaels has a solemn look on his face, potentially completing some reflection.

Shawn Michaels: Coming up in this business, all the old timers would pass on the same advice. There’s no fighting father time, and I’m starting to understand exactly what they meant. I can feel my time winding down, but I’ve got at least one more showstopper moment in me. I need to make an impression and win the WWE Championship on my first pay per view as an active competitor in nearly fifteen months… And that’s EXACTLY what I’m going to do.

A hint of that confidence, borderline cockiness comes out at the end there for Michaels, as he walks out of shot, ready for the main event…

After the next match, it’s time for a video package to announce the next pay per view…

Two more matches go by when we spend some time with our Raw commentary team, MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER.

Michael Cole: Coming up next, we’ve got our World Tag Team Championship match where our champions William Regal and Finlay will defend against Bryan Danielson and Paul London in a Submission match, and then from a Raw perspective, we still have the WWE Championship main event. Randy Orton versus Shawn Michaels. Plenty still to come here tonight on No Mercy, but we do want to turn our attention to tomorrow night’s Monday Night Raw for just a moment.

Jerry Lawler: That’s right, Michael, we’ve got two big announcements for tomorrow night’s show. The first being that Raw General Manager Mike Adamle has confirmed the main event of Raw. It will be John Cena teaming with John Morrison to take on Priceless, and the winners will be the new number one contenders for the World Tag Team Championships.

Michael Cole:
And there will be further title implications tomorrow night because it has been confirmed, to open the show, CM Punk will defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against one half of the current World Tag Team Champions, Finlay.

The two then went on to discuss the submission only stipulation of the next match, which will not be featured in this BTB…

Two more matches pass, it’s almost time for the main event, but before that we get another video package…

Before the main event can begin, we head to the backstage area where PRICELESS, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE are standing by. Both men are in casual clothes, still looking pleased after their impressive victory to kick off tonight’s show.

Cody Rhodes: No Mercy, tonight, felt like the night we took another step forward in our careers. Our teamwork defeated three former WWE Champions, and this is just the beginning. Tomorrow night, we’ll take care of Cena and Morrison again, and then we’ll be coming to take our championships back…

DiBiase doesn’t say a word. Both men simply stand, looking stern, seemingly understanding what stands in front of them tomorrow night…

One last video package…

***

A video package aired highlighting the build for the WWE Championship match between RANDY ORTON and SHAWN MICHAELS. This includes Orton preparing to take out TRIPLE H, until Michaels returned from retirement. He made the save, and in the coming weeks, earned a title shot, before focusing in on Orton, reforming DX to fight against Legacy.

Match Nine
WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) defends against Shawn Michaels

Even with the heated build, this is a big time match in a big time environment, meaning we get a cagey start from both competitors. Both men understand the consequence of making an early mistake; hence we get some mat wrestling in the early stages. Orton gets the better of it and Michaels gets frustrated, trying to speed things up, but the champion seems content to just hold Michaels down.

On commentary, they talk about how Orton must be content to slow it down, because it doesn’t allow Michaels to use his speed or build any momentum. Michaels ends up battling to his feet, but Orton applies a Hammer Lock, which Shawn is unable to counter. Eventually Michaels has no choice but to walk to the ropes, grabbing the rope so the referee can get involved and force Orton to break the hold.

Cool, calm and collected, Orton offers a clean break, a smug look on his face. Michaels responds with a DX crotch chop, which infuriates Orton. Not tolerating the disrespect, Orton charges at Michaels… MICHAELS PULLS THE TOP ROPE DOWN… LOW BRIDGING ORTON AND SENDING HIM TUMBLING TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Embarrassed more than anything else, Orton is right back to his feet… BUT MICHAELS TAKES HIM BACK DOWN WITH A PLANCHA!!!

Not wanting to get counted out, once he’s up, Shawn immediately works on getting Orton back inside the ring. Back inside now and Shawn continues to hammer away at Orton now, in control, until he attempts to Irish Whip Orton into the ropes. The champion reverses, sending Shawn instead, and when Shawn comes back… FLYING FOREARM!!!

NO!!! ORTON SIDESTEPS IT…

SHAWN SOMEHOW STOPS HIMSELF AND LANDS ON HIS FEET…

BUT ORTON GRABS HIM AND HITS THE INVERTED SIDE HEADLOCK BACKBREAKER!!!

That’s the move that changes the course of the match. Much to the dismay of the fans, the pace remains slow now, with the ever methodical Orton in complete control. After the Backbreaker, and given Shawn’s medical history, all of Orton’s offense is focused on the head and neck area of his opponent. Of course, he locks in the dreaded ORTON LOCK multiple times throughout the match as well.

The champ expertly uses his strength and leverage advantage to wear Michaels down. He constantly uses furious quick punches to the face, head and chest of Shawn as well. It’s a brutal performance from Orton but it’s equally impressive, as he dominates off of skill and never really cheats. After another near fall, Orton grabs Shawn and sends him crashing into the corner of the ring.

Orton charges in after Michaels, but runs straight into a boot to the jaw! It’s enough to stagger Orton, as he backs away, but now Shawn presses forward. He unloads on Orton with right hands, before switching to some Knife Edged Chops as well. With Orton staggering but remaining on his feet, Shawn leaves to bounce off the ropes for momentum… FLYING FOREARM CONNECTS!!!

Both men remain down for a few moments, the match taking it’s toll… AND THEN SHAWN KIPS UP!!!

Orton isn’t up long after Shawn, but with the fans excited as hell, Michaels starts to build some momentum. He pinballs Orton around with right hands, before sending Orton bouncing off the ropes. When Orton comes back, Michaels sends him up and over with a Back Body Drop! Orton remains down after the crash landing, so Michaels steps out onto the apron and ascends to the top rope… FLYING ELBOW DROP!!!

NO!!! SHAWN CRASHES AND BURNS AS ORTON ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY!!!

On instinct, Michaels stumbles back to his feet, grabbing at his elbow. Despite being up, Shawn is out of it, as Orton is able to manhandle him, getting a Front Facelock and draping Michaels’ legs over the middle rope… ELEVATED DDT!!!

Once again, as methodical as can be, Orton grabs Michaels by the foot and drags him away from the ropes. ORTON MAKES THE COVER…1…2…NO!!! MICHAELS GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Frustrated, Orton pulls Shawn up into a seated position… ORTON SYNCHS IN AN ARM TRAP ORTON LOCK!!!

The panic immediately sets in Michaels’ eyes as he tries desperately break free. His arms flail away, but he has no luck and he begins to face to the hold. Orton continues to strain, applying pressure, and with Michaels showing no signs of life, the referee intervenes. The ref lifts Michaels arm up… MICHAELS ARM DROPS ONCE…

AND IT DROPS A SECOND TIME…

AND IT DROPS A THIRD TIME…

NO!!! SHAWN MANAGES TO KEEP IT IN THE AIR!!!

Getting a second wind, Michaels starts working to his feet and he uses his free hand to land punches to Orton’s stomach. The blows are enough for Orton to relinquish the Arm Trap, and after peppering him with punches some more, Shawn lifts Orton up and slams him to the canvas with a Scoop Slam! Rather slowly after all the action so far, Michaels begins working his way to the top rope again… WHEN ORTON TAKES MICHAELS’ LEGS OUT FROM HIM… EFFECTIVELY CROTCHING HIM ON THE TOP ROPE!!!

The gasps come from Michaels and the fans for the uncomfortable landing. Orton climbed up and started throwing right hands at the tiring Michaels, but the veteran doesn’t give in. Shawn lands more shots to Orton’s gut… BEFORE MICHAELS SHOVES ORTON OFF THE TOP ROPE!!!

Orton lands hard on his back on the canvas, with Shawn wasting little time… FLYING ELBOW DROP CONNECTS!!!

Instead of going for the cover, Michaels remains down next to Orton. There’s concern on commentary as they talk about how he hasn’t been in a real professional wrestling match in something like sixteen months. Eventually, HBK does get to his feet, and he heads to the corner, stomping his foot on the canvas, tuning up the band. Orton rises as the fans reach a fever pitch… SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

NO!!! ORTON SIDESTEPS IT…

RKO!!!

MICHAELS SHOVES ORTON AWAY…

BUT ORTON COLLIDES WITH THE REFEREE!!!

A dazed Orton then turns right into SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

Orton collapses to the canvas, but further feeling the exhaustion of the match, so does Michaels. The fans groan, knowing Shawn would probably get the three count if he was able to cover, and if the referee was awake. Both men remain down, but the fans start booing loudly as PRICELESS, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE walk down the ramp.

Michaels works to his feet, ONLY TO NOTICE CODY ON THE APRON… SO SHAWN KNOCKS HIM OFF WITH A RIGHT HAND!!!

DIBIASE GETS ON THE APRON AS WELL… AND GETS THE SAME TREATMENT!!!

Taking care of the momentary distraction, Shawn now heads over to Orton… SHAWN GETS THE PIN…

AS THE REFEREE SLOWLY RECOVERS…

…1…2…3…NO!!! ORTON JUST ROLLS A SHOULDER OFF THE MAT!!!

Disbelief covers the face of Michaels, as he gets back up, looking down at Orton and shaking his head. After landing a few stomps for good measure, Michaels heads to the corner and climbs up the top rope, but this time he’s facing outside of the ring. Michaels turns his head, making sure Orton hasn’t moved before leaping off the top… MOONSAULT!!!

HITS NOTHING BUT CANVAS AS ORTON MOVES!!!

The landing hurts, but Michaels pushes himself to get up quickly after hitting the mat hard. Shawn holds at his mid-section and turns to face Orton… TURNING RIGHT INTO AN RKO!!!

ORTON HOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Randy Orton @ 22:51

The mood in the arena deflates, before being filled with heat as the victorious Orton works to his feet. Wearing that smug look on his face again, Orton looks down at Michaels, before being given the WWE Championship by the referee. The champ holds the title high, celebrating his win, as Priceless get into the ring to join the celebration.

With Michaels remaining down, Rhodes and DiBiase hoist Orton onto their shoulders, parading him around the ring. It’s a full-blown heel celebration, and the fans don’t like it, but right now, Randy Orton is untouchable, and that’s the final imagery as No Mercy comes to a close…

WWE Monday Night Raw
October 5th, 2009
Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

We’re twenty four hours removed from No Mercy, and with a jam packed show, we’re kicking things off immediately. No pyro, no opening ceremony, we head straight to the ring for the opening match…

Match One
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
CM Punk (c) defends against Finlay

The match started off with both men being a little cagey, showing there’s a mutual respect there. They eventually get into a mat exchange but the veteran instincts of Finlay kicks in. ‘The Fighting Irishman’ manages to get on top and dominate Punk on the mat, stretching the champion out and just generally torturing him. Punk is the Intercontinental Champion for a reason, Punk kept trying to come back and quicken the pace to get back into things.

Finlay has been around long enough and seen it all though, able to constantly cut Punk off with a big shot. Once he cuts Punk’s momentum off, Finlay is able to ground Punk repeatedly. As things progress, Finlay starts working on the legs of Punk, realizing that every time Punk starts fighting back, it’s his kicks that do the most damage. Finlay continues to work on the legs, until Punk lands a few Up Kicks from the ground out of desperation.

The kicks connect with Finlay’s chin and cause him to stagger backwards. The IC Champion scrambles to his feet and now naturally quickens the pace. He lands repeated rapid fire body kicks to Finlay, backing him into the corner. With his opponent really, Punk walks to the other side of the ring and charges towards Finlay… CORNER KNEE CONNECTS!!!

AND PUNK IMMEDIATELY TAKES FINLAY OUT OF THE CORNER WITH A BULLDOG!!!

Punk takes a few moments to get back up, feeling the effects of the match. Finlay remains face down on the canvas, as Punk gets up and steps out onto the apron. Before any further action can take place, our cameras quickly cut backstage, showing MR. KENNEDY watching on a TV monitor, looking very interested.

Back to the action, and Punk remains on the apron, waiting for Finlay to get to his feet. When Finlay pushes himself off the canvas, Punk leaps up… SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE!!!

NO!!! FINLAY EXPLODES AND SHOVES PUNK BEFORE HE CAN SPRINGBOARD…

CAUSING HIM TO LAND FACE FIRST ON THE RING APRON!!!

Punk looks in big trouble, and not wasting anytime, Finlay drags Punk underneath the bottom rope and back towards the centre of the ring. FINLAY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! PUNK GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

A little frustrated but knowing he has to press the advantage, Finlay drags Punk up by the hair. The Irishman then goes to town, beginning a vicious assault with repeated European Uppercuts! He lands shot after shot, really laying into Punk… THEN FINLAY SNATCHES PUNK UP FOR THE CELTIC CROSS!!!

NO!!! PUNK DESPERATELY STARTS LANDING KNEES TO FINLAY’S FACE!!!

The blows soften Finlay up enough for Punk to slide off his shoulders… AND PUNK NAILS A HUGE ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE TEMPLE!!!

Finlay collapses to the mat, but Punk immediately drags him up and hoists him onto his shoulders… GO TO SLEEP!!!

PUNK MAKES THE PIN…1…2…3!!!

Winner: CM Punk @ 8:13

The pop is generous for the ever fighting IC Champ as CM Punk has picked up yet another impressive title defence tonight. Getting to his feet, Punk looks relieved to have his title, celebrating but looking like he went through a war tonight. The celebration continues as we cut…

To the commentary table where MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER finally get the chance to formally welcome everybody to the show. Cole and Lawler go into hype mode for the main event, where John Cena and John Morrison will team up to take on Priceless, with the winners becoming number one contenders for the World Tag Team Championships. Meanwhile, a big six man tag team match has also been added to tonight’s card. It will be Chris Jericho, Mr. Kennedy and William Regal teaming up against Paul London, Rey Mysterio and Shawn Michaels!!! It’s a stacked show for sure, as Cole and Lawler then segue us to the back…

Where the man who was unsuccessful in his attempt at dethroning Randy Orton last night, SHAWN MICHAELS is standing by. Despite the WWE Championship loss last night, Michaels looks to be in relatively okay spirits.

Shawn Michaels: Well, I really thought I’d be walking into tonight with the WWE Championship around my waist. I admit that I might not have worn off fifteen months of ring rust in one match prior to challenging for the title.

Shawn shrugs. He’s upset but he’s not deterred.

Shawn Michaels: Even so, I thought I was doing okay. I admit that brief distractions from Priceless might have cost me the title.

This time Michaels looks genuinely annoyed.

Shawn Michaels: Let me go one further. I admit that I know for a fact that in a one on one match after I’ve trained for it and prepared, it would be a different story. I know I could beat Randy Orton and win the title.

The fire and determination is in HBK’s eyes and written all over his face. He continues to show his soul to the camera, as we cut to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

When we return from the break, we’re at the interview set. Standing by without the interviewer, confidence personified is the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON. The smug look on his face as he wears the WWE Title over his shoulders shows that he truly believes he’s untouchable right now.

Randy Orton: After another triumphant pay per view title defence at No Mercy last night, tonight is a well deserved night off. I did exactly what I said I was going to do. I proved I’m the top man in wrestling by defeating Shawn Michaels clean in the middle of the ring.

Some of the smugness is momentarily wiped off Orton’s face, when CM PUNK walks onto the set. Still sweaty after his match to kick off the show, Punk shoots Orton a quizzical look.

CM Punk: Hmm, yeah, that’s a half truth. You beat Shawn, not exactly cleanly, but here’s a complete truth. You’ve never beaten me.

Orton clenches his jaw, the tension building, but Punk welcomes it, stepping even closer. He’s not intimidated at all.

CM Punk: So since we’re at the interview set, let me ask you the question on everybody’s mind. When am I getting my title shot?

The two go nose to nose, the moment is intense, until Orton takes a step back and scoffs at Punk.

Randy Orton: You’ve got a sharp tongue, Punk, but if you step up to a level you’re not ready for, I’ll rip it out. You haven’t proven anything to me yet.

Now it’s Punk’s turns to scoff, but before he can say anything else, Orton quickly leaves the scene. Punk is left to ponder, looking slightly amused by the abrupt exit of the champion, as we end the scene…

Now we skip ahead to later on in the night…

Match Three
Chris Jericho, Mr. Kennedy and William Regal vs. Paul London, Rey Mysterio and Shawn Michaels

After being isolated and dominated throughout the submission match for the tag titles last night at No Mercy, Paul London still has his left arm heavily taped for this match. In the early stages, the heels look to target the injured limb, until London manages to tag in Shawn Michaels. Michaels and Jericho’s never ending hatred for each other is on show here, as they continue to have hate filled exchanges where the emotion is clear for all to see.

Eventually Shawn tagged out to Mysterio, and he and Jericho had some nice moments against each other, continuing their feud. We end up with London back inside of the ring, with Regal being the legal man for the heels. Regal is clearly all in on targeting London’s arm, however London uses his speed when possible to keep his arm safe.

London’s even forced to avoid using the arm as much as he can, but thankfully for him, he’s good enough to make that happen. London manages to gain the advantage for his team by bombarding Regal with a series of big, unexpected kicks. This causes Regal to have some issues and be briefly isolated by the face trio. Eventually Mysterio gets him draped across the middle rope and dials it up… 619!!!

NO!!! REGAL SENSES IT AND BAILS, ROLLING TO THE OUTSIDE BEFORE BEING KICKED IN THE FACE!!!

The fans boo loudly and Mysterio is just as frustrated inside the ring. Meanwhile, Jericho and Kennedy hop off the apron, joining Regal on the outside. They have a discussion, trying to help Regal regroup… WHEN A SPRINGBOARD CROSSBODY FROM MYSTERIO TAKES OUT ALL THREE MEN ON THE OUTSIDE!!!

A big pop comes from the fans, as Rey gets back to his feet. He adjusts his mask as he always does, before digging through the fallen bodies, looking to grab a hold of Regal as we cut to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

The action has returned to the ring after the break, where Regal still finds himself being isolated by the face trio. In a taste of his own medicine from last night, Regal is struggling with his left arm as London goes to work on it. After wringing the arm one last time, London drags Regal to the babyface teams corner and London tags in Mysterio.

Rey gets in and immediately bounces off the ropes to build some momentum… WHEN KENNEDY TRIPS REY OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Mysterio stumbles and quickly looks around furious at Kennedy. The split second distraction is enough that when Rey turns to face Regal, Regal quickly runs at Rey and lands a vicious knee to the gut. From there, the Brit stays on top of Mysterio, grounding him and pummelling him, thus beginning the heat period of the match.

They continue to isolate the masked man, and of course, being that they are heels, they are more than happy to cheat to keep Mysterio at bay. Showing off his heart and grit, Rey keeps fighting back, using his quickness to dodge things and make life difficult for his opponents. After a fun exchange… JERICHO CATCHES REY WITH A SCHOOL BOY…

NO!!! REY ROLLS THROUGH BACK TO HIS FEET…

AND HITS A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO JERICHO’S HEAD!!!

The fans cheer loudly as both men remain down for a few moments. Spurred on by the crowd, Mysterio gets to his feet, but instead of going for the pin, he runs over and decks Kennedy with a right hand. It’s payback for the trip earlier, and with Kennedy knocked off the apron, Mysterio runs to the opposite corner and tags in Michaels.

‘The Heartbreak Kid’ comes in and cleans house on Regal and Jericho in typical Michaels fashion. Sensing the danger, Kennedy blind tags himself in and tries to sneak in, but after whipping Shawn into the ropes… MICHAELS COMES BACK WITH THE FLYING FOREARM!!!

FOLLOWED BY THE KIP UP!!!

The babyface fire of Michaels has the fans excited, as he basically beats on all three members of the opposition with right hands. As Jericho approaches him once again, Shawn takes him down with a Scoop Slam! Before Michaels can spot him, Regal runs from behind and hits a vicious knee to Shawn’s back. The blow sends Michaels stumbling forward… RIGHT INTO A SPINEBUSTER FROM KENNEDY!!!

KENNEDY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! MYSTERIO BREAKS UP THE COUNT!!!

Kennedy is furious at being dragged off the count by Rey, quickly scrambling to his feet. He runs at Mysterio, who Dropkicks Kennedy in the knee, causing him to fall with his chest draped across the middle rope. Before Mysterio can capitilise on that, he spots Regal approaching and runs at him… FLYING HEADSCISSORS INTO A DDT FROM MYSTERIO!!!

Mysterio bounces back to his feet and now runs of the ropes, focusing on Kennedy… 619!!!

The shot causes Kennedy to fall to his back on the canvas… SPRINGBOARD SPLASH FROM MYSTERIO!!!

Before Mysterio can even roll off of Kennedy, he’s pounced on by Regal and dragged to his feet… REGAL PLEX!!!

Mysterio rolls to the floor as the pleased Regal gets back up, only to turn right into SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

Michaels stumbles back into his own corner after landing the big kick, and Jericho looks to attack, having made a blind tag earlier. London sees this and tags himself in and immediately climbs to the top rope… CROSSBODY OFF THE TOP FROM LONDON ONTO JERICHO!!!

LONDON STAYS ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! JERICHO KICKS OUT!!!

London gets back to his feet as quickly as he can and notices Kennedy approaching… SPINNING WHEEL KICK BY LONDON TAKES HIM DOWN!!!

As London looks to turn back to the legal man, the slimy Jericho meets him with a rake of the eyes. Whilst this is happening, it’s clear there’s panic setting in for the heels as RANDY ORTON runs down to ringside to get a closer look. The heat for Orton is massive and it only gets louder. With the referee distracted, ORTON PULLS MICHAELS OFF THE APRON… AND THROWS HIM INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

Again, the referee doesn’t see it, struggling to maintain the order with the legal competitors as it is. Back inside of the ring, with the help of Kennedy, Jericho has managed to get on top of London… JERICHO THROWS LONDON SHOULDER FIRST INTO THE RING POST!!!

London screams in agony at the collision, immediately clutching at his already injured arm. London backs out of the corner, bending down, grabbing at his arm… WHEN KENNEDY RUNS THROUGH HIM WITH A KNEE LIFT!!!

London remains on his feet, albeit dazed, staggering into a CODEBREAKER FROM JERICHO!!!

JERICHO HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Chris Jericho, Mr. Kennedy and William Regal @ 17:41

The arena fills with heat, the fans mightily displeased but it doesn’t really matter. Jericho, Kennedy and a battered Regal all stand tall inside the ring, celebrating their victory. Meanwhile, the WWE Champion lets them have their moment in the spotlight, but Orton is clearly pleased as he makes his way up the ramp.

As Orton backs up the ramp with a smirk on his face, Shawn Michaels works back to his feet and he looks VERY pissed off with what went down tonight…

Next, we cut to the General Manager’s office where RAW GENERAL MANAGER MIKE ADMALE sits behind his desk, doing his best to look important.

Mike Adamle: We’ve still got quite a bit on tonight so I’ll keep this short and sweet. I have an announcement to make regarding next week’s Raw. Trying to keep things peaceful here in the WWE is hard work, so in the spirit of Interbrand unity, Raw will be working closely with ECW. As a matter of fact, CM Punk will defend the Intercontinental Title against ECW’s Elijah Burke!!!

Cheers fill the arena, causing Adamle to smirk, but he’s not finished.

Mike Adamle: Talent exchanges have to go both ways so in turn for Elijah Burke appearing on Raw next week, a Raw superstar will be getting the first title shot at the winner of the ECW TV Title tournament. That tournament will finish by the end of October. Thank you all for your time.

Adamle continues to smile into the camera, pleased with his own announcements, until we cut to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, we get a video package…

A little later on in the night, PRICELESS, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE are standing in the back. Both men in their tights, looking determined and ready for tonight’s main event.

Ted DiBiase: Sometimes this business can pull you in multiple directions, so we’ve been preoccupied for the last several weeks, but that ends now. As of this moment, we want to declare that the greatest tag team of the last decade are taking our titles back.

Tonight it’s Ted who cuts the promo, Cody nodding along with his short but firm statement. The show then cuts to commercials.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, also dressed for action, standing in the back and ready for a chat is none other than JOHN CENA. The jean short wearing Cena has a smirk on his face as he begins.

John Cena: I’ve never been one to not accept my losses. I take them and I learn so I admit, Priceless beat me last night. That was No Mercy which is done now. As for tonight, things are different. I don’t have two partners who hate each other. Last night, I felt like I only had one partner that I could trust, and that was a recipe for disaster. Here I stand tonight, ready to take joy in stopping Priceless from getting the tag titles like they stopped me from challenging for MY WWE Championship. Thanks to Cody and Ted, I’m legally bound from ever getting a rematch for the title, so tonight I take what matters the most from them.

Cena looks a lot less casual by the end of the promo, having worked himself up. He’s got the trembling jaw of intensity going, ready for tonight’s main event…

After another segment and a commercial break, it’s time for the main event…

Match Five
Number One Contenders Match for World Tag Team Championships
John Cena and John Morrison vs. Priceless

In the early stages, this one told a pretty simple story. When able to work together, being the established team, Priceless had the superior teamwork, which holds them in good stead. However, anytime Cena or Morrison were able to get Cody or DiBiase one on one, the match would shift. Both John’s seemed to strong in singles type situations as the battle continues. As the interest in the match builds, we see WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS WILLIAM REGAL AND FINLAY watching the match intently from backstage.

As the match progressed, the superior teamwork from Priceless won out against the singles ability of Cena and Morrison. Cody and Ted keep the tide in their favour, managing to isolate Cena. Resilience and never giving up is Cena’s specialty, therefore he keeps trying to fight back, but Priceless consistently cut off the hot tag attempt each time.

The domination from Priceless continues until it doesn’t. Cody and Ted plan another double team move… WHEN CODY SWINGS FOR A CLOTHESLINE ON CENA!!!

NO!!! CENA BREAKS FREE AND RHODES ACCIDENTALLY DROPS DIBIASE WITH THE CLOTHESLINE!!!

In essence, this allows Cena to make his way across the ring and make the hot tag to Morrison. JoMo speeds up the pace and cleans house with rapid fire forearms to both men. After dropping Cody, Morrison sends DiBiase into the corner with an Irish Whip, before running in after him… BIG CORNER KNEE ON TED CONNECTS!!!

Morrison notices Cody getting back to his feet, so JoMo bounces off the ropes… FLYING FOREARM NAILS CODY!!!

Morrison stalks his opponents, deciding his next move before heading towards the ropes… SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI!!!

NO!!! TED PUSHES MORRISON AS HE ATTEMPTS TO SPRINGBOARD… SENDING HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND LANDING BACK FIRST ON THE CONCRETE FLOOR!!!

Priceless smirk inside the ring, as Morrison remains favouring his back on the outside, whilst we head to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, and it’s clear Morrison hasn’t truly recovered from the ugly bump prior to the break. Priceless continue to work over the back and midsection of the former ECW Champion, as Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler inform us that’s exactly what happened during the break as well.

To Morrison’s credit, he keeps trying to fight back, desperate to make the tag to Cena, but Cody and Ted keep cutting him off with knees or punches to the mid-section. At one point though, Morrison wins an exchange with Cody, teeing off with right hands, backing him against the ropes. Morrison takes a few steps back, and as Cody is dazed… MORRISON RUNS THROUGH HIM… CLOTHESLINING CODY OVER THE TOP AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

After the move, Morrison collapses to his knees from exhaustion, before slowly crawling towards his corner. The fans urge him on, getting louder as he gets closer… AND MORRISON LEAPS FOR THE TAG!!!

NO!!! CODY PULLS CENA OFF THE APRON!!!

DiBiase is there as well… AND PRICELESS THROW CENA INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

Heat engulfs the arena as Morrison is confused for a moment as to why he’s corner is vacant, before he notices Priceless out on the floor. Morrison charges across the ring… CORKSCREW PLANCHA TAKES OUT PRICELESS!!!

Morrison battles to his feet after the epic looking move, but is clutching his mid section, clearly struggling. Instead of battling Priceless on the outside, JoMo rolls back inside the ring, waiting for them to join him. Priceless both slide in at the same time and Morrison does what he can, attacking them both with desperate strikes, until DiBiase shrugs him off, picks him up… AND DELIVERS A BACKBREAKER!!!

Just like that, the status quo of this match has returned. Priceless go back to torturing Morrison, as Cena slowly gets back up and gets himself back onto the apron. With it back to one on one, Cody works on Morrison… UNTIL MORRISON CATCHES CODY WITH AN STO BACKBREAKER OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Both men remain down for a few moments, before Morrison starts making the trek towards the corner… AND THIS TIME HE REACHES IT… TAGGING IN CENA!!!

The fans mark out as Cena gets in and starts swinging right hands, taking out Cody, and then DiBiase gets some too… WHEN SUDDENLY THE REFEREE DEMANDS CENA GET OUT OF THE RING!!!

Everybody is confused but it turns out… DIBIASE ENTERED THE RING AND DISTRACTED THE REF SO HE NEVER SAW THE TAG TO CENA!!!

Cena and the fans are equally as vicious, but after vehemently arguing, Cena has no choice but to exit the ring. Meanwhile, Priceless drag Morrison back over to their corner of the ring, and keep working him over. With things looking very grim for Morrison, we cut to our final break of the evening…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

With the final break over, it’s a sense of groundhog day as we return to Morrison attempting to crawl towards his teams corner. DiBiase, who is now the legal man, grabs a hold of Morrison’s leg and pulls him back to Priceless’ side of the ring. Suddenly though, MORRISON KICKS DIABIASE IN THE CHEST HARD… ALMOST PUSHING HIM WITH HIS LEGS…

AND DIBIASE CRASHES INTO CODY ON THE APRON!!!

MORRISON SNEAKS BEHIND THE DAZED DIBIASE WITH A SCHOOL BOY…1…2…NO!!! DIBIASE KICKED OUT!!!

Both men hurry to their feet after the flash pin but the fresher DiBiase is able to mow down Morrison with a Clothesline! The beatdown continues from here, with tags being exchanges from Priceless, until Morrison makes another attempt at a comeback. This time he’s in with Cody, who sends Morrison crashing into the corner. Cody charges in after Morrison, but JoMo turns his body, causing Cody to run straight into Morrison’s elbow.

As Cody staggers away, DiBiase comes in and charges at Morrison, but he eats a boot to the face from Morrison. Ted staggers, rubbing his jaw… SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI FROM MORRISON!!!

The fans cheer loudly as Morrison yet again makes a trek towards his corner, when Cody grabs him by his ankle to stop him. Before Cody can drag Morrison away, Morrison rolls over onto his back and kicks Cody off of him. Cody loses his grip… AND MORRISON FINALLY GETS THE HOT TAG TO CENA!!!

The crowd went apeshit as Cena got in and cleaned house, taking on both members of Priceless with right hands and punches. Cena focuses in on Cody after dropping DiBiase, pinballing Cody around the ring at will. Out of the corner of his eye, Cena identifies DiBiase pulling himself up with the ropes… CENA CLOTHESLINES TED OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Cena turns back towards the centre of the ring, where Cody is waiting with a right hand… No… Cena ducks… AND NAILS THE PROTO BOMB!!!

The fans know what’s coming next getting excited as Cena bounces off the ropes… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE!!!

NO!!! DIBIASE GRABS CENA’S LEGS, TRIPPING HIM FROM OUTSIDE THE RING!!!

Cena falls forward, face first onto the canvas. He quickly makes it to his knees… WHEN CODY POUNCES WITH A BIG DDT!!!

CODY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! CENA GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

After checking with the ref, Cody refocused on Cena, dragging him up… DEAD END RHODES!!!

NO!!! CENA DESPERATELY ELBOWS CODY REPEATEDLY, ESCAPING!!!

Before Cena can capitalise, DIBIASE NAILS HIM WITH A STANDING DROPKICK FROM NOWHERE!!!

DiBiase now steps back onto the apron, and then Cody hurries over, tagging DiBiase in. Now the legal man, ‘The Million Dollar’ Man stalks Cena, who struggles to his feet… DREAM STREET!!!

NO!!! CENA COUNTERS WITH AN ARM DRAG!!!

DiBiase immediately scrambles back to his feet and charges at Cena with a Clothesline… No! Cena ducks… PROTO BOMB TO DIBIASE!!!

Cody freaks out and runs into the ring and at Cena, but Cena takes him up and over with a high Back Body Drop! Cena now turns his attention back towards DiBiase, bouncing off the ropes and dusting off the shoulder… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE!!!

Despite the cheers from the fans, both members of Priceless start working to their feet at the same time. Cena begins looking at both, wondering who to focus on first… WHEN MORRISON TAKES OUT CODY WITH A FLYING DROPKICK OFF THE TOP ROPE!!!

The velocity of the blow sends Cody tumbling through the ropes and to the outside. After the tough landing, holding his back, Morrison also rolls out of the ring. This leaves Cena and DiBiase, and with Cena in the box seat, he runs through Ted with a Clothesline! Cena now watches DiBiase, who works his way up, so Cena throws him onto his shoulders… FU!!!

NO!!! DIBIASE LANDS ELBOWS TO THE TEMPLE TO BREAK FREE!!!

DiBiase swivels out behind Cena… AND THEN HITS THE MILLION DOLLAR SWEEPSTAKES!!!

DIBIASE HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! CENA JUST GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Frustrated, DiBiase shakes his head, before getting back to business. He gets Cena back up… DREAM STREET!!!

NO!!! CENA USES HIS FREE ARM TO STOP DIBIASE FROM HOOKING THE HOLD!!!

AND CENA THEN INCREDIBLE POWERS OUT… HOISTING DIBIASE ONTO HIS SHOULDERS…

FU CONNECTS!!!

CENA HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: John Cena and John Morrison @ 25:50

The pop is GIGANTIC from the fans as the epic main event ends with the unlikely team getting the win. Cena celebrates inside the ring, having his hand raised by the referee, before he’s soon joined by Morrison. Wearing a smile on his face, JoMo is clearly happy but is still favouring his back.

The two share a handshake before signalling for the tag titles. The celebration continues as our commentary team send us home with the reminder that next week on Raw, Finlay and William Regal will defend the World Tag Team Championships against John Cena and John Morrison…

WWE Monday Night Raw
October 12th, 2009
Indianapolis, Indiana

For the second week in a row, the show is skipping the usual opening ceremony and getting straight into the in ring action… Where we’ve got another Intercontinental Championship match because CM Punk is a mother fucking workhorse…

Match One
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
CM Punk (c) defends against
Elijah Burke w/Jack Swagger

Burke brings Swagger out with him, much to the dismay of Punk, as those two have formed somewhat of a partnership on ECW recently. Punk and Burke are both very careful early, as both know each other so well. On commentary, Michael Cole references their history back when Punk was on ECW, and the countless matches they’ve had with one another.

When they do settle into things a little more, they start off with the early action on the mat. Punk got the better of the exchanges, constantly ending up one move ahead at all times, and then holding Burke down with a frustrating Side Headlock! Getting irritated with the exchanges, as he worked back to his feet, Burke teed off with punches and elbows to the midsection, breaking Punk’s grip.

This annoys Punk who retaliates with some body kicks of his own, and once again, Punk wins the exchange. He continues to batter Burke with kicks, forcing Burke to drop to the canvas and roll outside the ring. Not wanting to give him anytime to breathe, Punk bounces off the opposite ropes… TOPE SUICIDA!!!

NO!!! SWAGGER TRIPPED PUNK UP FROM THE OUTSIDE WHEN HE BOUNCED OFF THE ROPES!!!

Burke quickly climbs onto the apron, dragging the referee into a conversation as a distraction. As Burke pulls down his knee pad, claiming to have issues with his leg… Swagger dragged Punk out of the ring… SWAGGER THROWS PUNK FACE FIRST INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

The fans give major heat for the involvement of Swagger, when suddenly the fans begin to cheer. Out of nowhere, ECW’s EVAN BOURNE has slid inside the ring. The referee is in shock as Bourne runs across the ring towards the ropes… PLANCHA CON MOONSAULT TAKES OUT SWAGGER ON THE OUTSIDE!!!

The impressive move gets a pop from the fans, as Bourne bounces right back to his feet. Swagger doesn’t take long to get up either, and the two brawl at ringside, until a bunch of officials run down to separate the two and take them to the back. With some ECW business promoted on Raw, and the outside interference eliminated, it’s now back down to just champion and challenger.

Burke has since hopped off the apron, his knee now apparently fine. He walks around ringside to the area where Punk is laying and rolls him back inside of the ring. Burke follows in and starts beating down Punk, focusing on the mid-section. With the Intercontinental Champion looking in a world of trouble, we head to our first break of the evening…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

We come back and it’s still all Burke, as it was for the entirety of the break. The challenger continues to work on Punk’s midsection, determined to bring the IC Title to ECW. Burke isn’t afraid to cheat to maintain the advantage either, but despite his best efforts, he’s unable to put Punk away.

After whipping Punk into the corner of the ring, Burke runs in after him but runs into a boot to the face! Punk follows up by running through Burke with a few Clotheslines, but it’s clear that he’s struggling. Punk grabs at his back the entire time, before he nails a few right hands and sends Burke into the corner. Punk charges in after him… CORNER KNEE LANDS…

AND PUNK TAKES BURKE OUT WITH THE BULLDOG!!!

Due to his sore back, instead of going for the pin, Punk grabs at his back. This affords Burke the time to roll outside of the ring for a reprieve. Usually, Punk would think Tope Suicida at this point, but instead, still holding his back, he exits the ring after Burke. Punk grabs him and simply rolls Burke back in, before stepping onto the ring apron. When Burke gets back to his feet… SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE FROM PUNK!!!

PUNK HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! BURKE KICKS OUT!!!

Wiping the hair from his eyes, Punk gets up and slowly brings Burke up to. Punk holds Burke around his neck in a clinch position and begins teeing off with a series of knees to the body, until Burke breaks free… AND EXPLODES WITH A STEP UP KNEE STRIKE OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

This wobbles Punk, who remains on his feet, albeit spaghetti legged… BURKE SNATCHES AN INSIDE CRADLE…1…2…NO!!! PUNK JUST BREAKS FREE!!!

Both men scramble to their feet… WHEN PUNK MEETS BURKE WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE HEAD!!!

Burke is stunned by the shot and stumbled backwards, into the ropes which help him maintain his footing. As Burke looks to leave the ropes… PUNK GETS HIM UP FOR THE GO TO SLEEP!!!

NO!!! PUNK GRIMACES AND LET’S GO OF BURKE DUE TO ISSUES WITH HIS BACK!!!

Landing on his feet, Burke quickly shoves Punk into the corner. Burke runs in after Punk… ELIJAH EXPRESS CONNECTS!!!

The momentum causes Punk to almost fall out of the corner… BUT BURKE IS THERE TO MEET HIM WITH A SCHOOL BOY PIN…1…2…NO!!! PUNK GRABS ONTO THE BOTTOM ROPE TO SAVE HIMSELF!!!

Burke is furious, looking at the referee and yelling, “WHAT THE HELL, MAN? COUNT TO THREE”. After debating with the referee, Burke shakes off some of the frustration and pulls Punk up… HONOUR ROLL!!!

NO!!! PUNK KNEES BURKE OUT OF MID AIR!!!

Punk gets down, and stumbles his way to the corner, still feeling for his back. Seeing his opponent in trouble, Burke runs at Punk in the corner… NO!!! PUNK DUCKS HIS HEAD AND BACK DROPS BURKE OVER THE TOP ROPE AND ONTO THE APRON!!!

NO!!! BURKE CLINGS ONTO THE TOP ROPE TO STOP HIMSELF FROM GOING OVER…

ALMOST HOLDING HIMSELF IN AN UPSIDE DOWN…

BUT THEN PUNK QUICKLY GRABS ELIJAH’S HEAD… ADJSUTING THE POSITIONING… GO TO SLEEP!!!

PUNK GETS THE PIN…1…2…3!!!

Winner: CM Punk @ 16:28

It’s yet ANOTHER successful title defense for Punk, however the wear and tear of tonight’s match clearly has him feeling pain. Amongst the cheers from the raucous crowd, Punk slowly gets to his feet. He grimaces in pain as he holds his back, still so happy that he raises his title high in the air once the referee presents it to him.

The labored celebration continues… UNTIL PUNK IS DRILLED WITH A RUNNING KNEE INTO THE BACK FROM BEHIND!!!

BY MR. KENNEDY!!!

The heat is massive for the cowardly attack from Kennedy. Punk goes down, crumbling to the canvas, and a vicious Kennedy wastes no time, repeatedly stomping all over Punk’s injured back.

Snarling at his downed nemesis, Kennedy picks up the IC title belt which Punk dropped during the attack. After staring at his own reflection within the alluring gold, Kennedy jumps high in the air… DRIVING THE TITLE INTO PUNK’S BACK WITH ALL HIS MIGHT AS HE LANDS!!!

Kennedy drops the title after the decisive blow and continues to stomp away. The attack continues, until the fans start stirring as JOHN CENA AND JOHN MORRISON SLIDE INTO THE RING!!!

The number one contenders for the tag titles are in the ring, and Kennedy immediately bails out before they can put hands on him. Despite the interruption, Kennedy smirks his way up the ramp, happy with the damage he applied to Punk.

Meanwhile, inside the ring, a concerned Cena and Morrison assist Punk to his feet, but when Punk notices Morrison… PUNK SHOVES MORRISON AWAY!!!

These two men have never gotten along and that doesn’t seem like it’s about to change. Morrison looks confused, asking, “WHAT THE HELL, MAN”, however Punk insists, “I DON’T NEED OR WANT YOUR HELP”.

Cena gets in between the two rivals before it can get more heated, trying to deescalate. With a shake of his head, Punk picks up his title, exits the ring and hobbles to the back, leaving Cena to assure Morrison that he did the right thing…

At the commentary desk, MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER hype our two other featured matches on tonight’s show. The main event will see Bryan Danielson team with the returning D Generation X to take on Chris Jericho and Priceless. On top of that, Finlay and William Regal will defend the World Tag Team Championships against John Cena and John Morrison. On that note, Cole and Lawler send us to a commercial break…

WWE RAW HOMECOMING 2009

OCTOBER 26TH, 2009
BUFFALO, NEW YORK

HSBC ARENA

***

After some more segments and another match, we head to the backstage area, where WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS FINLAY and WILLIAM REGAL are standing around some production carts. Both are kitted up and ready to wrestle.

William Regal: If you look at this year so far, it’s easy to see that we are the dominant championship team of 2009. We will not put up with the disrespect, and we will not be unseated by two men like Cena and Morrison who just decided a few weeks ago to try and team. Tonight, we will retain, because it takes more than that.

Finlay suddenly pulls out his shillelagh and slaps it against his own hand, looking menacing.

Finlay: And because we love to fight…

The tag champs mean mug the camera, as the show heads to a commercial break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

After a video plays showcasing what’s scheduled for ECW tomorrow night, our cameras pick up the interview set, where a satisfied looking MR. KENNEDY is standing by.

Mr. Kennedy: What I did tonight was send a message that things between CM chump and myself are not over. I deserve a shot at Punk and all I need is one more shot.

KK looks consumed at the thought, obsession in his eyes.

Mr. Kennedy: One more shot and I’ll prove to the world that I am bet-…

KENNEDY GETS TACKLED AND DRIVEN INTO THE INTERVIEW SET!!!

BY CM PUNK!!!

The two brawl out of the interview set and further through the backstage, area, but being where they are, it isn’t long before a gaggle of officials and security are able to break it up.

Both men continue to try and break free, but they are held apart. A frustrated RAW GENERAL MANAGER MIKE ADAMLE then appears on screen, standing between the two men.

Mike Adamle: Hey, that’s enough right now. Punk, Kennedy, both of you are to get out of the arena tonight. You both need to leave right now and cool off, because next week, you’ll get the chance to get your hands on one another. Next week, it’s CM Punk, John Cean and Shawn Michaels versus Mr. Kennedy, Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase!

With the match announced, Adamle trusts security will take care of business and leaves. Both Kennedy and Punk no longer try to get at one and other, knowing they’ll be able to in a legal match next week appeasing them…

Match Three
World Tag Team Championship Match

Finlay and William Regal (c) defend against John Cena and John Morrison

Once both teams are in the ring, before the action truly gets underway, we cut to the backstage area. We see some interested parties, both the team of BRYAN DANIELSON and PAUL LONDON, as well as PRICELESS watching on intently. Back inside of the ring, and the match starts off following a pretty similar premise to the number one contenders tag match last week.

There’s no denying the talent and big time experience of Cena and Morrison, which allows them to do well when in a none on one situation with one of their opponents. The tag champs are crafty though, and go way back, meaning they use double teams and trickery to take over and start working over Cena.

The Europeans focus on the arm of Cena, being extra vicious with it as only the champs can really. Whilst it’s a brief period of domination, it’s enough to cause Cena some issues with his left arm. Cena still fights back though, shrugging Regal off, and he begins running through him with Clotheslines!

Regal continues to bounce back up off the canvas after each one, until Cena grabs Regal and throws him outside of the ring. As Cena turns back to the face the ring, Finlay runs at him with a Clothesline of his own… No! Cena ducks… Finaly bounces off the ropes, but before he can move forward, CENA CLOTHESLINES FINLAY OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

As Finlay and Regal reconvene on the outside, inside the ring, Cena stomps over to his teams corner and tags in Morrison. It’s perfect timing with the champs having a meeting of the minds, so Morrison runs towards the ropes… CORKCREW PLANCHA FROM MORRISON TAKES OUT THE CHAMPS!!!

An epic pop rings out from the fans as Morrison gets back to his feet, feeling pretty good about himself. With the unlikely challengers in control, we head to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, Regal is in trouble inside the ring, with our commentary team informing us he was isolated during the entire break. Cena and Morrison looked to have learned a few things from last week, exchanging quick, fluent tags and looking like a unit. Morrison even hits a Snap mare at one point, before tagging in Cena… SO CENA COULD COME IN AND DRILL REGAL WITH THE THROWBACK!!!

To Regal’s credit, he refused to give in though, showing tremendous fighting spirit. Still, Cena was all over him and having seen enough, Finlay barged into the ring to help his partner. Cena saw it coming and beat Finlay to the punch, backing him into the corner in the process. Cena continues to land hard rights… WHEN REGAL LANDS A RUNNING KNEE TO CENA’S BACK!!!

The blow is enough to cause Cena to drop to his knees, and it’s enough to change the course of the match. The champions take the opportunity now, isolating Cena, focusing on his head and neck area. Finlay and Regal are two of the toughest, stiffest guys and they absolutely brutalise Cena, and on top of that, they aren’t afraid to cheat when necessary either.

As Cena continues to be isolated, there’s some action at the top of the ramp, as PRICELESS, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE have stepped through the curtain. They garner a negative reaction from the crowd, but just remain on the ramp, not getting involved. It’s worth noting Cody in particular looks pleased to see Cena in trouble.

The onslaught continues, until Finlay sends Cena bouncing off the ropes. When Cena returns, Finlay ducks his head, but it’s telegraphed… CENA NAILS A DDT!!!

Both men remain down, until they start crawling towards their respective corners. With the fans behind him, Cena manages to make the hot tag to Morrison. Morrison comes in and despite immediately being swarmed by a two on one, he uses his speed advantage to his, erm, advantage. Morrison mainly takes care of both Finlay and Regal with rapid fire forearms.

Both members of the tag champs are forced to back into opposite corners, needing to lean on the turnbuckles to maintain their vertical base. Morrison sprints towards one corner… RUNNING FOREARM TO REGAL!!!

With no time to waste, Morrison turns and sprints to the opposite corner… BIG CORNER KNEE TO FINLAY!!!

‘The Fighting Irishman’ stumbles out of the corner… SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI FROM MORRISON!!!

MORRISON HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!!

MORRISON ROLLS OFF THE COUNT…

AS REGAL ATTEMPTED TO LAND AN ELBOW DROP TO BREAK UP THE COUNT…

AND INSTEAD, REGAL ELBOW DROPS HIS OWN PARTNER!!!

Regal is in shock as he gets up, where Morrison was waiting for him… MORRISON HITS AN STO ACROSS HIS KNEE!!!

Having recovered somewhat, Cena gets back in, bounces off the ropes, dusts off his shoulder… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE TO REGAL!!!

As Cena gets up, Finlay is there to meet him with a right hand… No, Cena ducks… PROTO BOMB TO FINLAY!!!

Morrison then comes over to the prone body of Finlay… STANDING SHOOTING STAR PRESS!!!

MORRISON STAYS ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! FINLAY JUST GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Things are getting more and more intense inside the ring, so PRICELESS NOW WALK DOWN THE RAMP, MAKING THEIR WAY TO RINGSIDE!!!

Whilst they haven’t technically interfered, Cena sees them getting closer and begins yelling at them to “STAY OUT OF IT”! Slowly, Morrison started dragging Finlay towards the corner, ready for his next high risk move. Meanwhile, Regal is back up, and Regal runs towards Cena, but Cena ducks his head… BACK BODY DROPPING REGAL OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

It’s an ugly bump for Regal and Cena follows him outside to ensure he doesn’t get involved again. As Cena looks to pick up Regal… CODY RHODES COMES FROM BEHIND AND RAMS CENA INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

Of course, the referee didn’t see it as DiBiase helps Regal back into the ring to make matters worse. Regal is still struggling after his big bump though, only just getting to his feet… WHEN MORRISON NAILS HIM WITH A STEP UP ENZUIGURI!!!

The ref remains distracted with all the action inside the ring, he doesn’t realise Priceless pick up Cena… PRICELESS NAIL CENA WITH THE CHAPTER ELEVEN (Dream Street/Dead End Rhodes combination) ON THE CONCRETE FLOOR!!!

Having done the damage, Priceless now slowly back up the ramp, smirking at their handiwork. The fans boo loudly, but when the referee turns to face them, there’s no obvious visual evidence that they’ve done anything wrong. Despite all the shenanigans on the outside, Morrison focuses on the inside… HITTING A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO FINLAY, WHO HAD MADE IT TO HIS KNEES!!!

Finlay is down and out, so now Morrison pulls himself to springboard off the top… STARSHIP PAIN!!!

NO!!! MORRISON CRASHES AND BURNS!!!

Not giving Morrison anytime to recover, Regal roughly pulls him up by the hair… REGAL PLEX!!!

FINLAY CRAWLS OVER AND DRAPES AN ARM OVER MORRISON’S CHEST…1…2…NO!!! MORRISON GETS HIS FOOT ON THE BOTTOM ROPE!!!

After shaking out the cobwebs, it’s Finlay’s time to get back to his feet. Regal stands guard as Finlay picks up Morrison, carries him to the centre of the ring… FINLAY HITS THE CELTIC CROSS!!!

FINLAY MAKES THE PIN…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Finlay and William Regal @ 17:30

Albeit with some illegal assistance, the champions have retained. The Europeans celebrate in the ring with the titles, ignoring the heat from the dans after their hard fought victory. As this is happening, Cody Rhodes stood over the unconscious John Cena on the floor, yelling “YOU HAD IT COMING TO YOU, CENA… THIS IS OUR DIVISION”! …

Priceless then start to back up the ramp, catching the eyes of the champions as they do. Finlay and Regal don’t seem impressed with the smug youngsters, as DiBiase points at them and lets them know, “YOU OWE US ONE NOW”!

After Priceless disappear, Finlay and Regal stand tall, STILL on top of the division.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, we get a video package…

WWE SURVIVOR SERIES

NOVEMBER 22ND, 2009
WASHINGTON, D.C.
VERIZON CENTRE

Once the Survivor Series video is completed, the show cuts to inside of the LEGACY locker room. Inside is non Legacy member, CHRIS JERICHO, as well as PRICELESS, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE. There isn’t much in terms of conversation happening here, they all seem to be waiting for something. The answer of what becomes clear when the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON enters the locker room.

Randy Orton: Alright, thanks for waiting. I’ve got a few things to cover. First, Cody and Ted, I want to congratulate you again on a job well done tonight, but the job is not over so don’t be too happy.

Cody and Ted look a little confused, waiting for Orton to elaborate.

Randy Orton: As you know, I just talked to Adamle, and well I was there he confirmed that Cena will be a thorn in our sides a little longer. According to the Board of Directors, at Raw Homecoming, on October 26th, it’s going to be Cena vs. you Cody, one on one!

Rhodes doesn’t mind the announcement at all, smirking and nodding. Low key, DiBiase looks a tiny bit disappointed he’s not getting the shot.

Cody Rhodes: All good, I’m fine with that.

The WWE Champion holds up his hand as if to signify that he’s not done.

Randy Orton: There’s more… During that match, all outside parties are banned from ringside.

Cody’s eyes go wide in shock, he’s a little less enthusiastic at the prospect of facing Cena without back up. He looks set to complain, when Orton puts a hand on his shoulder, Orton gives him a minor head shake, now’s not the time, and then the champ looks towards Jericho.

Randy Orton: But Homecoming is in two weeks, we still need to finish off our work tonight. In the main event it is vital that you all try to take out DX and Danielson tonight. It’s another strategic step so we could get the edge in next week’s six man tag.

Orton knows Priceless will be on board, hence why he focuses in on Orton, who genuinely looks bored.

Chris Jericho: Yeah, yeah, take them out, sounds good. I have a question of my own to ask you, Randy, when will I get my title shot?

Jericho watches Orton’s reaction like a hawk, but the champ just looks frustrated.

Randy Orton: We need to clear the path for the match. You’ll get it soon, especially if tonight goes well, because you’ll get it once DX is taken care of.

Accepting the answer for now, Jericho simply nods. Orton then takes a seat, planning to watch the trio prepare for tonight’s main event…

At ringside, MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER want to touch on the Raw Homecoming card. According to Cole, Randy Orton didn’t cover all the big match announcements that have come from Mike Adamle’s office tonight. For the October 26th show, they can also confirm that CM Punk would be defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Chris Jericho!!!

On top of that, the main event for Raw Homecoming is now official. It will be D Generation X vs. Mr. Kennedy and Randy Orton. They then mention there will also be offerings from both ECW and Smackdown on the show, as well as a yet to confirmed defence of the World Tag Team Titles…

The show progresses and finally, it’s almost time for the main event. A split screen appears, one side showing BRYAN DANIELSON, SHAWN MICHAELS and TRIPLE H. The other side shows CHRIS JERICHO, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE. Both teams are walking down hallways presumably to the gorilla position. Interestingly enough, after their issues in the summertime, Danielson and Triple H look to be arguing as they walk, whilst Michaels attempts to keep the peace. The main event is NEXT…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Before the main event begins, RANDY ORTON makes his way out, much to the dismay of the fans. The WWE Champion joins Michael Cole and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, ready to perform some commentary for tonight’s main event…

Match Five
Bryan Danielson and D Generation X vs. Chris Jericho and Priceless

Despite doing their best to keep their issues to the side, it’s clear early on that Danielson and Triple H have a very uneasy tension about them. To make matters worse, Jericho has been associated with Legacy and Priceless for awhile now, meaning they operate like a well-oiled unit. After some initial success from the heels, the veteran instincts of DX kick in. They almost cut Danielson out for a little while, using their tag experience to get the advantage for their team.

DX eliminate the tension between H and Danielson, and start working over the arm of Cody. It’s all DX now, until Shawn bounces off the ropes, looking to pick up speed… BUT DIBIASE ILLEGALLY TRIPS MICHAELS!!!

The fans are furious as are his teammates, but it’s enough for Michaels to fall face first on to the canvas. Before he can recover, Cody is all over him and now the heel trio are able to isolate the balding fan favourite. The beatdown on Michaels continues, until Cody sends Shawn into the corner. Cody charges in after Michaels, but Cody runs straight into the raised boot of HBK.

With Cody staggering backwards, holding his jaw, absolutely stunned, Michaels makes his move. He steps out of the corner, dives towards his own corner and makes the tag to Danielson. Full of vim and vigour, Danielson initially keeps Cody at bay with big kicks and forearms. ‘The American Dragon’ continues to clean house when DiBiase illegally enters, taking him down with kicks and forearms as well.

Impressively, Danielson continues to have his way with Priceless… WHEN JERICHO RUNS TO ATTACK DANIELSON FROM BEHIND!!!

NO!!! TRIPLE H SAVES DANIELSON WITH A HARLEY RACE HIGH KNEE TO JERICHO!!!

The fans cheer loudly and Danielson and Triple H share an awkward look, knowing H just came to Danielson’s aid. Feeling the effects of the match, all the heels roll to the outside to regroup. As they do so, at the urge of DX, Danielson charges towards them… TOPE SUICIDA FROM DANIELSON TAKES OUT PRICELESS AND JERICHO!!!

This garners another nice reaction, as Danielson bounces back to his feet. Danielson is pumped, so are DX and the fans, and on that note, we take our final break of the evening.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Back from the break, and the babyface team is still in control. They’ve worked on Cody throughout the break, and continue to do so now we’re back. We pick things up with Danielson landing some hard forearms, before sending Cody into the corner. Danielson runs in after Cody… CORNER RUNNING FOREARM CONNECTS!!!

The blow rocks Cody, who only maintains his footing due to the turnbuckles supporting his weight. Before Danielson can do anymore damage, he hears a “HEY, DANIELSON”! He turns around to see Jericho has walked the apron to be right next to him… AND JERICHO PULLS DANIELSON DOWN THROAT FIRST INTO THE TOP ROPE!!!

As the referee admonishes Jericho for the dirty tactic, Danielson stumbles backwards. Running on instinct, Cody quickly climbs to the middle rope, before leaping off… FLYING BULLDOG DRILLS DANIELSON!!!

CODY GETS THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! DANIELSON GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

After the near fall, Cody uses smart tag team strategy and cuts the ring in half. He drags Danielson over to the heel side of the ring, and now the dastardly trio work over Danielson. All of the offense works on the head and neck area. Acting as the general for the team, Jericho is constantly barking instructions at Priceless, but is also one step ahead, repeatedly distracting the ref so Cody and Ted can bend the rules.

Eventually, we end up with DiBiase and Danielson as the legal men. Ted beats on Danielson with some right hands, before sending him off the ropes… DIABIASE DUCKS HIS HEAD… BACK BODY DROP!!!

NO!!! DANIELSON LEAPFROGS OVER DIBIASE AND MAKES THE TAG TO MICHAELS!!!

Shawn gets in and begins peppering DiBiase with right hands. As Shawn pinballs Ted around the ring, Jericho and Cody sense the urgency, getting inside the ring. Michaels is able to beat them with punches as well, basic yet effective, until Jericho sneaks up with a Clothesline! Shawn ducks it and runs off the ropes… RETURNING WITH THE FLYING FOREARM TO JERICHO!!!

OF COURSE, IT’S FOLLOWED BY THE KIP UP!!!

Michaels is amped up and the fans are eager also. Realising that Michaels could still fall victim to the numbers game, his best friend Triple H enters the ring. Lucky he did, because with Shawn focusing on the others, CODY NOW RUNS AT SHAWN FROM BEHIND…

TRIPLE H INTERCEPTS WITH A DOUBLE A SPINEBUSTER!!!

Getting back to his feet, H raises his hands in the air, getting a nice reaction from the fans… UNTIL DIBIASE SPEAR TACKLES HIM… SENDING BOTH MEN TUBMLING THROUGH THE ROPES AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Meanwhile, inside the ring Michaels is still in control, dragging his nemesis up, and dropping Jericho with a Scoop Slam. The veteran now ascends to the top rope, slowly like only he can… BEFORE COMING OFF THE TOP WITH A FLYING ELBOW DROP!!!

Instead of going for the cover, Michaels looks to get to his feet… CODY IMMEDIATELY CATCHES SHAWN WITH A DDT!!!

Knowing he’s not the legal man, Cody doesn’t capitalise and instead exits the ring. He intervenes in the Hunter and DiBiase brawl, grabbing H and holding him back. This allows Ted to slide inside the ring… DIBIASE PINS MICHAELS…1…2…NO!!!

DANIELSON BREAKS UP THE COUNT WITH A FLYING HEADBUTT!!!

It’s an epic way to break up the count, but it leaves everybody down. Even Danielson struggles, lying on the canvas holding his neck… WHEN JERICHO LANDS THE LIONSAULT ON DANIELSON OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Meanwhile, on the outside, Triple H has managed to gain the upper hand on Cody, before grabbing him… TRIPLE H IRISH WHIPS CODY, SENDING HIM CRASHING SHOULDER FIRST INTO THE RING STEPS!!!

Triple H immediately enters the ring to see Jericho working back up after the Lionsault… TRIPLE H DRILLS JERICHO WITH HIS KNEE FACEBUSTER!!!

At the request of the referee, Triple H now heads back to his teams corner and steps on the apron. Meanwhile, Jericho has backed into the corner, where Shawn runs in after him… FLYING BACK ELBOW!!!

Shawn nails Jericho with one last shot, before staggering across the ring, Shawn tags in Triple H! H comes in and starts running through any member of the heel team that moves with vicious Clotheslines. H looks like a world beater UNTIL HE GETS CHOP BLOCKED FROM BEHIND BY A RECOVERED CODY!!!

HHH’s knee immediately gives out, and he falls forward onto one leg. This allows Jericho to climb up to the top rope, and just as Triple H gets back up… JERICHO COMES OFF THE TOP WITH A MISSILE DROPKICK!!!

WHICH SENDS H STAGGERING BACKWARDS… INTO THE MILLION DOLLAR SWEEPSTAKES!!!

TED HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! DANIELSON JUST DIVES OVER AND BREAKS UP THE COUNT!!!

Sensing things are about to pick up again, Shawn enters the ring to come to the aid of his best friend… JERICHO TACKLES SHAWN DOWN TO THE CANVAS!!!

The two exchange right hands, their hatred for each other exploding. They lose control and end up rolling underneath the bottom rope and to the outside where their brawl continues. The fans love the pandemonium as inside the ring, Priceless work together to bring Triple H to his feet. Cody and Ted get Triple H in position for the big finish… MILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT!!!

NO!!! SHAWN MICHAELS IS BACK INSIDE THE RING…

AND HE DECKS CODY WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

Shawn collapsed to the canvas in exhaustion after that, unable to help H break free from Ted’s grasp. Thankfully for his shake, Trips is able to start landing some elbows to DiBiase, which eventually breaks his grip. Frustrated, DiBiase swings wildly with a Clothesline…No H ducks, and then kicks DiBiase in the gut… PEDIGREE!!!

TRIPLE H HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!!

BEFORE THE COUNT CAN BE COMPLETED, RANDY ORTON CLUBS THE BACK OF TRIPLE H!!!

The heat is enormous as the referee has no chance but to call for the bell for a disqualification.

Winners: Bryan Danielson and D Generation X @ 19:45

The heat is massive but there’s no time to really stop and take stock of the result. The attack continues from Orton, as he takes turns stomping all over the exhausted pairing of Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

As Orton dominates inside of the ring, on the outside, Jericho has gotten a hold of Danielson… JERICHO THROWS DANIELSON FACE FIRST INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

With Danielson taken care of, Jericho now joins Orton inside of the ring. The two share a look and now Orton and Jericho work together, continuing to stomp the life out of DX. After a brief discussion between Orton and Jericho, Orton lifts Shawn Michaels to his feet and shoves him towards Jericho… RIGHT INTO THE CODEBREAKER!!!

Jericho can’t help but smile at getting an extra shot in at his old enemy. As this is happening, Triple H has managed to stumble to his feet… ONLY FOR ORTON TO SMASH THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP ACROSS HIS SKULL!!!

H goes down like he’s been shot. Danielson is still down on the outside, DX are out of it on the inside, as Orton and Jericho stand tall. Cody and Ted finally recover and get back to their feet, and all four men stand tall, Orton raising the WWE Championship in the air as he stands over DX.

The camera pans out ever so slightly, showing all four men, including Jericho taking a longing glance at the WWE Title, but that might be a story for another day. As for right now, Legacy and Jericho stand on top of the world to close the show…

Catching up on this and am reminded of how cool it is to just focus on the world title. It sounds so simple but being able to focus in on that while also having to factor in what is going on in the background could perhaps actually be a bit overwhelming, at least in my own brain. But you've really showcased the title scene in an interconnected way that isn't messy and overlaps in a way that makes the show feel layered.

Especially love how Orton is being protrayed. He's coming across like an absolute killer. Enjoyed the methodical and deliberate way the match with Michaels was laid out as it fits Orton perfectly. I especially like that he didn’t need to cheat constantly to win. Even with Priceless lurking and causing chaos, Orton still feels like a guy who can beat you straight up, which makes the interference feel like insurance rather than a crutch. That’s exactly how a top heel champion should be presented.

On the flip side, Michaels looked great in defeat. The “one more showstopper” angle mixed with the ring rust was a really nice touch. You protected him, gave him believable outs and still made it feel like he just missed. The follow-up on Raw was strong too as he didn't come out whining and instead was confident he'd get the win next time.

Legacy as a whole are doing a ton of heavy lifting in a good way. The clean pin over Cena at No Mercy is a huge statement, and I like that Orton immediately spins it into his own narrative about “following in his footsteps.” That’s such a great little character detail as he rewrites reality to suit himself. The group feels cohesive, dangerous, and actually important to the main event scene instead of just background lackeys.

Cena’s position is really interesting right now too. The explanation that he didn’t trust his partners at No Mercy was a simple but effective way to tie the loss into his current direction. Him pivoting into the tag scene while still clearly having his eyes on the WWE Title keeps him relevant without forcing him back into the same spot immediately.

Punk stepping up to Orton was probably my favorite non-match moment across these shows. It’s such a natural progression. IC Champion, riding momentum, calling out the top guy, and the line about Orton never beating him is perfect. It instantly gives that potential feud stakes without needing a long build. You can feel that one bubbling just under the surface.

And then the most recent Raw:

This one was a strong build for Homecoming. An overall very cohesive episode with everything directly fueling Homecoming or the larger picture. The opening Intercontinental Title match is an excellent way to set the tone. Punk vs. Burke is structured like a competitive, familiar rivalry where both men know each other too well to get comfortable for long. The mat exchanges early on establish Punk’s control, but Burke’s adjustment into more physical, opportunistic offense helps keep him credible as a challenger. The finish sequence is especially strong because it layers multiple threads at once: Swagger’s interference, Bourne’s surprise run-in, and Punk’s visible back injury all combine to make the win feel earned but increasingly costly. The Kennedy post-match attack is a great escalation point, immediately reframing Punk not just as a fighting champion, but as someone actively being hunted.

The Tag Title match between Finlay/Regal and Cena/Morrison works as a very solid “pressure cooker” tag bout, with clear structure and escalation. Cena and Morrison’s improved cohesion compared to prior weeks is a nice storytelling progression, and the champions’ veteran grit plus rule-bending keeps them feeling like credible long-term title holders.

The tension between Danielson and Triple H continues to be a compelling undercurrent, especially contrasted with Shawn Michaels acting as the emotional bridge. Jericho functioning as both strategist and chaos agent for the heel side is very effective, and Priceless continue to grow into their role as disruptive future players. DQ finish aside, this was a fun little main event but it sets up an effective post match attack with perhaps some slight foreshadowing with Jericho eyeing Orton's title belt all while standing tall alongside him.

I don't know how you keep so many different projects going at such quality but I'm all for as much Stojy as we can get around here.

We’re well into the show this week, it’s almost time for the second match of the night. Before the lovely ladies can get underway, we head to the back, where standing at the interview set is a very serious, more intense than usual, JOHN CENA.

John Cena: I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. Tonight is finally my chance to show yet again that I’m the uncrowned WWE Champion by pinning Orton in the main event. There’s a lot to cover here and Orton would swear that I can’t get a title shot due to the stipulation, but things change. Orton’s contract back in July said I couldn’t challenge, but as far as I’m concerned, that contract is null and void. Orton’s won and lost the title since then.

Short and sweet from Cena, who looks intense but confused…

Post the second match and a few other segments, we get a video package…

Once the video package is complete, we head to the inside of a locker room, where SHAWN MICHAELS sits, currently lacing up his boots. Once he’s finished with the left boot, Shawn takes a deep breath and looks into the camera.

Shawn Michaels: As we all know by now, No Mercy didn’t exactly go as I had planned, and I lost my WWE Championship match against Randy Orton. Since No Mercy, since that faithful night, I’ve been working harder than I have in years to get back to form. I’m starting to feel like ‘The Showstopper’, The Icon’, The Main Event’ once again and tonight, I’ll show the world. I’ll show how far I’ve come and earn a rematch by pinning the WWE Champion.

The self-belief is coursing through his veins, as Shawn says what he needs to say, and then goes back to lacing up his other boot…

As the show progresses, we get another video package…

Later on in the night, standing in a random hallway in the back, dressed for battle is the WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CM PUNK. As usual, Punk has something to get off his chest.

CM Punk: It honestly feels like I’m stuck in a little bit of an endless loop these days. I keep defending my Intercontinental Title, and Randy Orton keeps dodging me for a WWE Title match. Last week he claimed I don’t deserve a shot, but in the last year, I’ve had his number. The GTS has pinned Orton at least three times, as far as I can remember that’s more than any other superstar can claim with the same move.

Once again, he’s speaking the truth, and he’s saying it with his chest. He pauses for a moment, mulling over his next words.

CM Punk: The difference between Orton and I are obvious for the world to see. Since I became the Intercontinental champion, I’ve done all I can to raise the title up to a higher level. On the other side of the coin, Orton has refused to defend his title against at least two or three guys on the roster.

Punk shakes his head in disgust at Orton ducking potential challengers.

CM Punk: The main event tonight is important. I plan on making myself undeniable. I intend on pinning Orton and staking my claim to being number one contender.

That’s all from Punk tonight, but it’s certainly interesting that all three members of Orton’s opposition want to prove they should get the next shot at his title tonight. Punk gives one last focused look into the camera lens, before we cut to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, we are inside the locker room of LEGACY. Cody Rhodes is nowhere to be seen; however MR. KENNEDY, WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON and TED DIBIASE are all in their wrestling gear ahead of the main event. Orton takes a moment to stand up, wanting to command the room before he speaks.

Randy Orton: We’re one man down tonight, it’s just us. Cody is gone tonight, completing some specialised training for his match against Cena next week.

Kennedy and DiBiase nod in acceptance.

Randy Orton: We need to make sure that we still get the job done. Tonight, the job is simple. The main goal is to make sure I do not lose tonight against three people who do not deserve it.

Orton subconsciously places his hands on his title at the end of this statement. Kennedy takes the opportunity to speak up.

Mr. Kennedy: Randy, I’m all good with that and I’ve got an idea. I want to pin Punk to get an Intercontinental Title shot.

The champ gives a real subtle nod, not really confirming or denying Kennedy’s idea.

Randy Orton: Let’s iron out the specifics because as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t matter who we pin. In terms of motivation, I want someone on the other team to be taken out tonight.

There’s a glint in the sadistic eyes of Orton at the thought of taking somebody out. It looks like there might be more to this conversation, but we don’t hear it anymore as we cut to a new scene…

Later in the night, we needed some more pay per view hype…

We then cut backstage where standing out the front of the Legacy locker room is a smarmy looking CHRIS JERICHO.

Chris Jericho: Next week, I’ve got CM Punk for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Now Punk may be a good Intercontinental Champion, and he may have been a great WWE Champion, but he’s not Chris Jericho. I’m the best Intercontinental Champion of all time, so at Homecoming, in one weeks’ time, I’ll win the Intercontinental Championship for an unprecedented tenth time to prove that I’m the best Intercontinental Champion yet again.

With that, Jericho turns to leave, knowing Legacy will be competing in the main event in just a few moments…

Match Five
CM Punk, John Cena and Shawn Michaels vs. Mr. Kennedy, Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase

The first thing to note about this one, is considering how fired up Cena is to finally get his hands on Orton, the WWE Champion avoids facing Cena at all costs. This fires up Cena even more, but eventually he had to relent, and instead CM Punk was able to come in and fight Orton. Much to the chagrin of Orton, the IC Champ started off really well, using his martial arts kicks to keep Orton off balance.

Punk continued to do extremely well against Orton, to the point where multiple times, Kennedy had to attack Punk from behind. Orton then tagged in Kennedy, who tried to beat up Punk, however Punk was able to tag in Shawn Michaels. HBK was impressive, looking faster and like he had better ring awareness than his last few appearances. On commentary, they talk about the hard work Michaels has clearly put in since falling to Orton at No Mercy.

Michaels does so well, he’s able to beatdown Kennedy, and then tag in Cena, giving the faces the chance to isolate Kennedy. Cena has his way with Kennedy for a while, until Kennedy desperately rakes the eyes of Cena. As Cena staggers blindly, Kennedy heads to his corner and looks for the tag. Being that Cena is the legal man, Orton blatantly refuses, leaving DiBiase to accept the tag.

‘The Million Dollar Man’ initially controls Cena, until he eventually Irish Whips him off the ropes… CENA COMES BACK WITH A FLYING SHOULDER BLOCK!!!

Cena builds momentum following it up with a second Shoulder Block and even a third. Cena gets in position now, thinking PROTOBOMB!!!

NO!!! ORTON TRIPS DIBIASE AND PULLS HIM OUTSIDE OF THE RING!!!

The fans are furious at the admittedly smart tactic from the WWE Champion. Even shakes his head in annoyance, before being slapped on the back, which is Punk tagging himself in. Seeing the heels huddled together, regrouping on the outside, Punk charges towards them… TOPE SUICIDA TAKES DOWN ALL THREE OF THEM!!!

Getting big cheers from the fans, a smirking Punk gets back to his feet. With the babyfaces well and truly in control here, we cut to our final commercial break of the evening.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, after doing some damage on the outside, Punk is finally rolling DiBiase back into the ring. Punk then steps onto the apron and waits for DiBiase to reach his feet… SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE!!!

NO!!! DIBIASE DUCKS IT…

PUNK LANDS ON HIS FEET…

BUT THEN TURNS STRAIGHT INTO A SPINEBUSTER FROM KENNEDY!!!

It was illegal yet effective. To make matters worse, Orton then gets inside the ring… SPRINTS ACROSS THE RING AND SHOVES CENA OFF THE APRON!!!

The unsuspecting Cena manages to land on his feet, immediately bouncing back onto the apron. Cena’s ready to fight, but all this does is distract the referee. As the referee is busy dealing Cena, all three of the heels stomp all over Punk and drag him to their corner of the ring. From here, the isolation of Punk begins, with Orton and co working over the head and neck of the IC Champ.

On top of that, as usual, the heels are happy to cheat when they deem necessary also. Kennedy in particular spent the most time in the ring with Punk, dominating and not really wanting to tag out. He made multiple pinfall on Punk, wanting to earn an IC Title shot, but he’s unable to get a three count. Eventually, feeling the need to stay fresh, Kennedy makes a reluctant tag to DiBiase.

DiBiase nailed Punk with some right hands, before sending him bouncing off the ropes. When Punk came back, DiBiase ducked his head, but Punk saw it coming, and kicked Ted hard in the chest! DiBiase stumbles back, so Punk moves forward… STEP UP ENZUIGURI FROM PUNK!!!

The fans pop loudly as DiBiase gets knocked loopy, allowing Punk to crawl across the ring, and make the hot tag to Cena! Cena goes to work on DiBiase, cleaning house on hi and Kennedy, who attempts to get involved to help DiBiase. After beating on them both separately with right hands and Clothesline… CENA THEN RUNS THROUGH DIBIASE AND KENNEDY AT THE SAME TIME WITH A DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE!!!

With both men down, Cena turns towards Orton, imploring him to get inside and fight him. Instead, Orton drops from the apron and walks on the floor, still refusing to fight Cena, but Orton gets grabbed from behind by Shawn Michaels. ‘The Showstopper’ rolls Orton back into the ring, and just as Cena cocks his fist to nail Orton… DIBIASE CATCHES CENA WITH THE MILLION DOLLAR SWEEPSTAKES OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

TED PINS CENA…1…2…NO!!! MICHAELS BREAKS UP THE PIN!!!

Before Shawn can do anything else, Kennedy runs across the ring and tackles him, sending both Kennedy and Michaels tumbling through the ropes and to the outside. Inside the ring, Orton and DiBiase start stomping wildly all over Cena. The heat is ungodly for Orton now being happy to get in with Cena. At the request of Orton, DiBiase brings Cena up, holding him in place… SO ORTON CAN HIT THE INVERTED HEADLOCK BACKBREAKER!!!

A smug look on his face, Orton now steps away and heads back onto the apron. After stomping on Cena’s head a few more times, DiBiase then officially tags Orton into the match. Orton stalks Cena, landing some basic stomps, whilst on the outside… PUNK GETS A STEEL STEPS ASSISTED CORNER KNEE ON KENNEDY, WHO WAS LEANING AGAINST THE CROWD BARRICADE!!!

DiBiase sees Kennedy in trouble and jumps off the apron to approach Punk, meanwhile on the other side of the ring, Shawn Michaels has made it back onto the apron. Orton is stalking Cena inside the ring, and when Cena gets up… RKO!!!

NO!!! CENA THROWS ORTON IN MID AIR, SENDING HIM FOR A TOUGH LANDING ON HIS BACK!!!

Cena stumbles backwards from pure exhaustion, allowing Michaels to tag himself in. Before even stepping inside, Michaels ascends to the top rope… FLYING ELBOW DROP LANDS ON ORTON!!!

As Shawn gets back up, Cena confronts him. He’s yet to leave the ring and he’s pissed with the blind tag. Before it can escalate any further… DIBIASE ATTACKS FROM THE SIDE…

NO!!! CENA CATCHES HIM WITH A PROTO BOMB!!!

Having forgotten about the tension with Michaels, Cena then bounces off the ropes, dusts off the shoulder… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE!!!

As Cena gets back to his feet, Michaels has been waiting for Orton to get up, and when the champ does… SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

NO!!! ORTON DUCKS…

AND MICHAELS HITS CENA!!!

NO!!! SHAWN JUST STOPS HIMSELF FROM NAILING CENA!!!

Sensing his chance though, Orton shoves Michaels in the back, sending him crashing right into Cena. With Michaels dazed after the collision… ORTON GETS A SCHOOL BOY PIN…

AND HE HOLDS THE TIGHTS…1…2…NO!!! PUNK DIVES IN AND BREAKS UP THE COUNT!!!

Punk quickly scrambles to his feet, but Kennedy has followed him into the ring. Punk quickly snaps into action… ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY DUCKS…

AND TAKES OUT PUNK WITH A KNEE LIFT!!!

BUT THEN KENNEDY IMMEDIATELY GETS SNATCHED WITH AN FU BY CENA!!!

Kennedy immediately rolls out of the ring after taking the finisher. DiBiase is back in though and he runs at Cena, only to fall victim to a Drop Toe Hold… AND THEN CENA TRANSITIONS INTO THE STFU!!!

Cena wrenches back in the hold, and all DiBiase can do is scream in agony. On the other side of the ring, Orton has made it to his feet, and he sees the positioning of Cena. Orton begins shaking out his foot, before charging across the ring… ORTON PUNTS CENA RIGHT IN THE HEAD!!!

NO!!! ORTON GETS CUT OFF WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC FROM MICHAELS!!!

SHAWN GETS THE PIN…1…2…3!!!

Winners: CM Punk, John Cena and Shawn Michaels @ 19:40

The pop is enormous as for the first time in two months, the WWE Champion has been pinned. And by Shawn Michaels no less! Shawn bounces up and begins celebrating, feeling rejuvenated by the win, as Cena frustratedly releases his grip on DiBiase.

On commentary, they talk about how Orton got consumed by Punting Cena and taking him out, and it caused him to forget about Michaels. The celebration from Michaels continues, as Cena just leaves, clearly annoyed with not getting the victory himself. Maybe he believed that was a chance to somehow earn another title shot.

Michaels pays Cena no attention though, continuing to celebrate, signalling for the WWE Championship around his waist as the show fades to black…

WWE Raw Homecoming 2009

Tag Team Match:

D Generation X vs. Mr. Kennedy and Randy Orton
I almost went with DX for the feel good win and possibly set up another HBK/Orton match, especially after HBK got the pin on this past Raw. But at the same time, I feel like we just had HBK/Orton at No Mercy and while it wouldn't be unusual to run things back with a rematch in WWE at the next PPV, with so many potential challengers I think we'll get a fresher matchup for Survivor Series. So instead I'll take Orton getting the win to perhaps settle things for now with HBK.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
CM Punk (c)

Could see Jericho winning but I think Punk retains.

All Outside Parties Barred From Ringside:

Feels like the moment where Cena gets his revenge and picks up the win here

One of our three focus characters in this BTB (Orton, Cena, Punk) will begin a new feud on this show. Which one of the three will it be and who will they be feuding with? (2 point question) I'll say CM Punk. Not sure what Christian is up to in your universe, I know he was on ECW IRL but that'd be a fun feud.

Randy really doesn't need his heat back after eating the pinfall because he's so fuckin over in this project, but on paper he really does need to get back into the win column. No real harm in having DX lose here after a lot of antics.

Hmm, I'm going with a title change simply because nobody expects it to happen. Plus, it will give you an opportunity to advance Punk up the rankings.

All Outside Parties Barred From Ringside:
Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena
Cody gets the first BIG win of his career here. Cena has already been relegated to trying to remain relevant while not being able to challenge Orton, so he loses nothing here. Plus, this ties into my bonus question answer...

Bonus Questions
Who will pick up the fall in the tag team match? Orton

Who will drop the fall in the tag team match? HBK

The number one contender for the WWE Championship for Survivor Series will be announced at some point on this show. Who will it be? Cody Rhodes after he beats John Cena- that's some interesting shit- Cody vs Orton! Just please no Pat Macafee or Jelly Roll lol

WWE Monday Night Raw: HOMECOMING
October 26th, 2009
Buffalo, New York
HSBC Arena

The show is well and truly in progress when we get our first featured segment. After the first match of the night and various segments, we cut to an office where the RAW GENERAL MANAGER MIKE ADAMLE sits behind a desk, just finishing up a phone call. As he puts his cell phone down, SHAWN MICHAELS walks into the office. Michaels puts his hands up as if to apologize for the unannounced arrival.

Shawn Michaels: I’m sorry to just barge on in here, but I got something pretty important to talk to you about, boss man. You see, last week, no questions asked, I pinned the WWE Champion. Now where I’m fr-…

Adamle puts a hand up to stop Shawn and intervene.

Mike Adamle: Whoa, whoa, let me cut you off there, okay, Mike. I’ve been thinking about the WWE Championship picture all week and I have a phone conference with the board of directors in half an hour. I can’t make any promises to you personally, but I will announce the WWE Title match for the Survivor Series at the end of the night. That, and only that, I can guarantee.

Michaels nodded, knowing there’s not much else he can do. He leaves the room, having put his best foot forward, as the show cuts to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, standing all on his lonesome at the interview set is a determined looking CODY RHODES. Already in his tights, Cody is seemingly ready for arguably the biggest match of his career tonight.

Cody Rhodes: Raw Homecoming, we’re finally here. Tonight, on the big stage, in front of the entire world, I will take the biggest step in my career when I defeat John Cena by myself. And then once I’ve defeated Cena, Ted and I will take back what’s ours, and that’s those World Tag Team Championships.

Cody’s eyes are steely; he truly believes what he said. As the segment slowly fades away, Cody continues to stare…

Later on in the night, inside a locker room preparing for battle is D GENERATION X. Both SHAWN MICHAELS and TRIPLE H are donned in green DX t-shirts over their wrestling gear, when H looks at Michaels, a comical, disgruntled look on his face.

Triple H: Honestly, I can’t believe this Mr. Kennedy guy. He’s basically a rip off of my Michael Buffer rip off, except because he’s from Green Bay, he’s an ass and he’s awful.

Shawn chuckles, wearing his weathered smirk.

Shawn Michaels: You know what else? His hair is awful to…

This draws an eyebrow raise from Triple H.

Triple H: Shawn, at least he has hair.

H chuckles now, as Michaels shakes his head.

Shawn Michaels: Oh yeah? Well, get this, Hunter, this balding man is gonna’ be the next WWE Champion.

The jokes are over. At the mention of the WWE Championship, both men stiffen up somewhat, wanting that opportunity. With their suddenly being some tension amongst DX, the show cuts to a break…

After another match and a few other segments, we see JOHN CENA standing alone at the gorilla position. He’s in his jean shorts, almost ready to make his entrance, when he looks into the camera, intensity written on his face as his jaw clenches.

John Cena: You can throw anything at me; I’m a damn steam train that won’t be stopped. I will go through every obstacle I have to if the end result is Randy Orton and the WWE Championship. I’m not afraid to call it like I see it, Cody Rhodes is merely a distraction from my goal.

Cena nods along with his words, confirming this is his truth.

John Cena: So at Homecoming tonight, I get rid of this distraction sent by Randy Orton and regain my focus.

To further emphasise his words, Cena signals for gold around his waist as the show hits another commercial break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Match Four

Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena

As Cody had mentioned previously, he stayed true to his word for this one and didn’t have any Legacy members come to ringside with him. Cena nods, showing a sign of respect for that, but that quickly goes out the window when the bell rings. They circle each other, both men cagey, but repeated times, Cena goes to lunge for the Lock Up, and Cody backs away, opting against it.

Cody continues to stall, trying to goad Cena into losing control, but when they do Lock Up, Cena maintains his cool. They jostle for position until Cena overpowers Cody and throws him across the ring. Again, Cody takes his time reengaging, but eventually they Lock Up again, with Cena able to use his strength advantage to back Cody into the corner.

As the referee looks to call for a clean break, Cena obliges, only for Cody to hit a cheap shot right hand around the referee. Cena staggers backwards, having been caught off guard, allowing Cody to continue to press forward with punches. Suddenly, Cena begins swinging punches of his own and they trade blows, until Cena gets the advantage. Losing the slugfest now, Cody drops to the apron and rolls out of the ring.

Cena storms towards the ropes where Cody slid out of the ring. Cena reaches over the top rope to try and grab at Rhodes; however Cody pulls Cena’s legs out from under him. In essence, Cody trips Cena, standing him back first onto the apron. Keeping a hold on Cena’s legs, Cody drags Cena towards a corner of the ring… AND SLAMS CENA’S KNEE OFF OF THE RING POST!!!

Howling in agony, Cena drops to the floor, where Cody immediately meets him and sends him back inside the ring. The attack on Cena’s knee continues inside the ring, with Cody showing a really vicious side to him. After softening up Cena some more, Cody steps over Cena’s left leg… APPLYING THE FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK!!!

Unfortunately for Cody, Cena refuses to submit and is able to show tremendous resilience, making his way to the ropes. Cody keeps on the attack, he’s relentless, but as the match progresses, the undeniable Cena begins to fight back. After fighting his way back to his feet, Cena looks to land a Clothesline, but Cody ducks and runs off the ropes. When Cody returns… CENA CATCHES HIM WITH A POWERSLAM!!!

It could be the turning point of the match now as both men remain down, trying to find some energy. Cena gets up a little quicker than Cody, but he doesn’t get straight down to business, instead he forced to shake out his leg, trying to get some feeling back. As Cena approaches Cody, Cody hits a kick to Cena’s injured knee, forcing him down to one knee… CODY NAILS A DDT!!!

CODY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! CENA GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Not wasting anytime now, Cody rushes Cena up to his feet… CROSS RHODES!!!

NO!!! CENA THROWS DESPERATION PUNCHES TO CODY’S RIBS UNTIL HE LETS CENA GO!!!

Immediately, Cena snatches Cody up onto his shoulders… FU!!!

NO!!! CODY SLIDES DOWN CENA’S BACK…

AND THEN TAKES HIM DOWN WITH A CHOP BLOCK!!!

The already battered leg of Cena cops it again. Cena grabs at it, struggling, until Cody grabs it as well… LOCKING IN A HALF CRAB!!!

NO!!! CENA KICKS CODY AWAY WITH HIS GOOD LEG!!!

Cody quickly scrambles to his feet and runs at Cena as he gets up, but Cena nails him with a big Clothesline! After taking Cody’s head off, Cena drags him to his feet, before lifting Cody onto his shoulders… FU!!!

NO!!! CODY KNEES CENA IN THE FACE REPEATEDLY!!!

CODY SLIPS DOWN THE BACK…

CODY HITS THE CROSS RHODES!!!

CODY HOOKS BOTH LEGS…1…2…NO!!! CENA SOMEHOW GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Remaining focused and not wasting time, Rhodes hurriedly scrambles to get Cena to his feet… DEAD END RHODES!!!

NO!!! CENA HITS RAPID FIRE ELBOWS TO THE BACK OF CODY’S HEAD UNTIL CODY RELINQUISHES HIS GRIP!!!

Getting frustrated, Cody extends on an over eager right hand, Cena ducks… CENA HITS THE FU!!!

Cody is positioned really close to the ropes, and Cena’s bad leg didn’t like the landing. ‘The Champ’ crawls towards Cody, grabbing at his bad leg as he does so. Once he makes it to Cody, Cena uses all his effort to roll Cody over, onto his stomach and away from the ropes. Without much resistance… CENA IS THEN ABLE TO APPLY THE STFU!!!

Cena pulls back and forth on the head, almost applying a pendulum like impact… AND CODY HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO TAP OUT!!!

Winner: John Cena @ 10:45

The fans cheer loudly for the hard fought victory acquired by Cena here tonight. There’s almost a look of relief on Cena’s face as he knows Cody put him through the ringer in this match. Cena celebrates the win as best as he can, although he’s admittedly still laboured by the knee that Cody put a lot of work into. Either way, Cena’s content, celebrating away as we cut to our next scene…

At the interview set, Josh Matthews is standing by.

Josh Matthews: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, he is the WWE Champion… RANDY ORTON.

The camera pans out to reveal WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON standing. With the WWE Title over his shoulder, and wearing a ‘Viper’ t-shirt over his tights, Orton looks slightly perturbed, perhaps due to his mentee losing a few moments ago.

Josh Matthews: Randy, I know you have a big time tag team match tonight against D Generation X, but I wanted to ask you about your next challenger for the WWE Championship. We saw Shawn Michaels speak to Mike Adamle earlier, and Adamle confirmed he would announce a new number one contender by the end of the night. Do you think it will in fact be Shawn Michaels after he pinned you last week?

A vein shoots out of Orton’s temple, he’s seething at the question internally, but he does his best to keep his cool.

Randy Orton: Let me address the number one contender situation, Shawn Michaels and tonight’s main event all in one go for you, Josh, that way you can get out of my face before I MAKE you get out of my face. Last week was nothing but a fluke. Shawn Michaels didn’t beat me because he’s better than me, or even in the same league as me. He seized the opportunity because I made the choice to go for my number one goal. I made the choice to go after my white wail and punt John Cena in the head. Michaels pinned me because he wasn’t even on my radar and I lost focus.

The champion shakes his head, mad at himself for last week’s hiccup.

Randy Orton: Don’t let last week be the dawn of false hope, nothing has changed since No Mercy. Michaels is still the washed up old man who couldn’t get the job done in a one on one match with me. In the main event tonight, watch closely and I’ll prove it.

Orton shoots Matthews one last menacing stare, intimidating the hell out of him, before walking out of shot…

A split screen appears showing CHRIS JERICHO walking down a hallway on the left side of the screen, whilst the right side of the screen shows WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CM PUNK doing the same. It’s CM Punk defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Chris Jericho NEXT…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Match Five

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
CM Punk (c) defends against Chris Jericho

Having not really had THAT much to do with each other in singles matches at this point, it’s a weary start from both men. They eventually commit to some basic mat work, with Punk continually maintaining a slight advantage with his favourite Side Headlock. The champion showed just how good he was, as Jericho uses his years of experience continuing to produce counters throughout their chains, but Punk is one step ahead each time, able to reverse Jericho’s escape plans.

As the one sided chain wrestling continued, Jericho got frustrated, and started throwing some big elbows to Punk’s gut to break up the Side Headlock. Punk has no choice but to release his grip on Jericho’s head and neck, allowing the challenger to now tee off with right hands to the face, and chops to the chest. Punk stands tall and tries to fight back with some forearms, and Jericho retaliates with some forearms of their own. Neither man backs down, as they clinch up and get into the forearm frenzied hockey fight.

After absolute chaos they release each other from the clinch, and both men are dazed. Punk manages to shake out the cobwebs faster and begins landing some big body kicks to Jericho. Punk unloads with three hard kicks, before going for a fourth but Jericho catches the foot… ONLY FOR PUNK TO TURN IT INTO A BIG ENZUIGURI!!!

Rattled majorly for the first time tonight, Jericho avoids being pinned or hit further, rolling underneath the bottom rope and to the outside. Jericho puts his hands on his knees, trying to recover, when Punk sprints across the ring towards him… TOPE SUICIDA!!!

NO!!! JERICHO LEAPS UP ONTO THE APRON AND NAILS PUNK WITH A FOREARM THROUGH THE ROPES!!!

Punk’s momentum is halted as the blow causes him to fall backwards, remaining inside of the ring. Sensing his chance, Jericho hurries up to the top rope, stalking Punk. When the champ gets to his feet… JERICHO COMES OFF WITH A FLYING BACK ELBOW!!!

Now it’s Punks turn to show he still has his wits about him, rolling underneath the bottom rope and to the apron to avoid being pinned. Jericho can’t help but smirk through his frustration, almost appreciating the intelligence of his opponent. Jericho watches closely as Punk uses the ropes to pull himself to his feet on the apron, causing Jericho to spring into attack… SPRINGBOARD TRIANGLE DROPKICK!!!

NO!!! PUNK DUCKS…

BUT JERICHO MANAGES TO MONKEY ROLL THROUGH THE LANDING AND SPRING RIGHT BACK TO HIS FEET IN THE RING…

BUT PUNK TAKES HIS HEAD OFF WITH A SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE!!!

PUNK HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! JERICHO KICKS OUT!!!

Punk gets back to his feet, running his hands through his hair, he knew that wasn’t going to finish things. Again, showing his veteran instinct, Jericho is quick to roll back onto the apron to create some space. Unfortunately for Jericho, when he does get to his feet… PUNK NAILS A BIG ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE HEAD…

SENDING JERICHO FLYING OFF THE APRON AND OUT TO THE FLOOR!!!

Dazed and confused, Jericho tries to battle back up quickly… THIS TIME PUNK CONNECTS WITH THE TOPE SUICIDA!!!

Getting back to his feet, Punk has a smirk on his face, enjoying the adulation from the fans. The champ is well and truly in control as we cut to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

We return from the break just in time to see Punk rolling Jericho back inside of the ring. Having beaten Jericho up around ringside during the break, Punk is still firmly in control, Irish Whipping Jericho into the corner. The IC Champ jogs in after Jericho… CORNER HIGH KNEE!!!

NO!!! JERICHO CATCHES PUNK!!!

Keeping Punk up in the air, Jericho manoeuvres himself behind Punk, AND THEN SHOVES PUNK OVER THE TOP ROPE AND ONTO THE APRON!!!

It’s a relatively soft landing for Punk, who clung onto the ropes to avoid a hard fall. He pulls himself back to his feet on the apron… BUT THIS TIME JERICHO CONNECTS WITH THE SPRINGBOARD TRIANGLE DROPKICK!!!

Punk drops after the impact, but still somehow remains on the apron. The challenger immediately drags him in, showing some real urgency, and now Jericho begins to dominate. He mainly focuses his attack on the head and neck area of the IC Champion. Jericho keeps up the non-relenting attack, but is unable to put Punk away.

Eventually, Jericho whips Punk into the corner before running in after him, but he runs straight into Punk’s raised boot…No! Jericho catches the boot… PUNK TRIES ANOTHER ENZUIGURI!!!

NO!!! JERICHO DUCKS!!!

Punk lands on his gut, but quickly hops back to his feet, and surprises Jericho with a back kick to the gut. As Jericho clutches at his stomach, gasping for air, Punk runs towards the ropes… SPRINGBOARD CROSSBODY OFF THE MIDDLE ROPE!!!

The exhausted Punk rolls off of Jericho after the move, and now both men remain down. When they finally do work their way up, they have a slug fest strike war in the middle of the ring, and Punk is able to gain the advantage. After dazing Jericho with his barrage of MMA strikes, Punk sends Jericho into the corner, and charges in after him… CORNER KNEE CONNECTS!!!

AND PUNK BRINGS JERICHO OUT OF THE CORNER WITH A BULLDOG!!!

NO!!! JERICHO COUNTERS AND SHOVES PUNK AWAY… SENDING PUNK CHEST FIRST INTO THE OPPOSITE CORNER!!!

Jericho runs in after Punk… Corner Clothesline… No! Punk dodges it… AND THEN PUNK FINALLY LANDS THE BULLDOG!!!

As Punk catches his breath, Jericho slowly works his way to his feet… PUNK HITS A STEP UP ENZUIGURI!!!

Jericho seems knocked loopy after that, so Punk stays on task, hoisting Jericho back up. Punk then heaves Jericho onto his shoulders… GO TO SLEEP!!!

NO!!! JERICHO ELBOWS HIMSELF FREE!!!

Jericho is able to slide down behind Punk, and when Punk turns to face him, Jericho takes him down with a Clothesline! With Punk down in the centre of the ring, Jericho runs towards the ropes… LIONSAULT!!!

NO!!! PUNK ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY SO JERICHO CRASHES AND BURNS!!!

When Punk gets back up, he’s quick to drag Jericho to his feet also, and plop Jericho on his shoulders again… GO TO SLEEP!!!

NO!!! JERICHO CATCHES THE KNEE ON THE WAY DOWN!!!

With Punk off balance, Jericho grabs Punk’s other leg also, turning the single leg into a Double Legged Takedown… ALLOWING JERICHO TO STEP OVER INTO THE WALLS OF JERICHO!!!

The big time submission hold is on and Punk grimaces in agony, reaching for the ropes. Sensing this is his chance, Jericho REALLY sits down on the hold, applying as much pressure as humanly possible. The champion refuses to submit though, desperately clawing his way across the canvas, and managing to grab the ropes.

Instead of letting the referee count and relinquishing the hold, Jericho maintains his grip on Punk’s legs and drags him towards the centre of the ring… BUT PUNK ROLLS FORWARD ONTO HIS BACK AND SNEAKS AN INSIDE CRADLE…1…2…NO!!! JERICHO KICKS OUT!!!

Both men scramble to their feet, Punk just slightly faster… PUNK HITS A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE HEAD!!!

NO!!! JERICHO DUCKS AND THEN BOUNCES OFF THE ROPES…

ONE HANDED BULLDOG TAKES DOWN PUNK!!!

Now it’s the proper sequence so Jericho runs towards the ropes… LIONSAULT!!!

NO!!! PUNK MOVES AGAIN…

BUT THIS TIME JERICHO LANDS ON HIS FEET!!!

Punk hurries to his feet to meet Jericho… JERICHO POUNCES WITH A STEP UP ENZUIGURI OF HIS OWN!!!

The blow drops Punk onto his back, and for the THIRD time, Jericho runs the ropes… LIONSAULT FINALLY CONNECTS!!!

JERICHO STAYS ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! PUNK JUST GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

The audience, the commentators and especially Jericho are in disbelief. A frustrated Jericho takes a moment to argue with the referee, before taking a deep breath and refocusing. He drags Punk to the middle of the ring, before grabbing his legs… TURNING INTO THE WALLS OF JERICHO!!!

NO!!!

Punk struggles against it, not allowing Jericho to turn him onto his stomach, instead Punk remains on his back… AND THEN GETS A VICTORY ROLL OUT OF NOWHERE…1…2…NO!!! JERICHO JUST KICKS OUT!!!

As per flash pin policy, both men hurry to their feet, full of adrenaline, but PUNK MEETS JERICHO WITH THE PUNKER COMBO!!!

Remaining on his feet, albeit spaghetti legged, Jericho is easy pickings for Punk to place onto his shoulders once again… GO TO SLEEP!!!

NO!!! JERICHO SWIVELS DOWN BEHIND PUNK!!!

Punk urgently spins around to face Jericho, turning into a CODEBREAKER!!!

NO!!! PUNK REVERSES INTO A JACKNIFE PIN…1…2…NO!!! JERICHO SOMEHOW ESCAPES ANOTHER FLASH PIN!!!

Both men bounce back up and run at each other… CODEBREAKER!!!

NO!!! PUNK GRABS THE TOP ROPE… LEAVING JERICHO TO TAKE A HARD BUMP ON THE MAT!!!

Jericho tries to hurry up, making it to his knees… WHEN PUNK HITS A HARD ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE TEMPLE!!!

Showing all the fight in the world, Jericho makes it back to his feet, albeit slowly, and Punk places him onto his shoulders… GO TO SLEEP LANDS!!!

PUNK HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winner: CM Punk @ 18:23

The fans pop loudly for the result, as CM Punk slowly gets back to his feet. Despite being utterly spent, Punk can’t help but wear a smile underneath the sweat and matted hair. Having his hand raised by the referee, Punk raises his IC Title in the air, having survived one of his toughest tests since winning the title…

A little later on in the night we get a video package…

After another match and some further segments, we head to the Raw General Manager’s office for the second time tonight. MIKE ADAMLE remains at his desk when MR. KENNEDY, WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON and TED DIBIASE barge in. Adamle looks surprised by their arrival, whilst an angry looking Orton leans over the desk to get closer to Adamle, trying to intimidate him.

Randy Orton: I’m not like Shawn Michaels and I’m not like anybody on the roster. I’m not common like the fans and I refuse to wait. I demand to know what my WWE Title match at Survivor Series is.

All three watch the GM intently, glaring at him to force him to say what they want.

Mike Adamle: I can’t. The Board of Directors have informed me I can’t say anything until your match is over tonight. Right now, even if you hadn’t rudely barged in here and I wanted to tell you, I couldn’t.

Orton and co get even closer to Adamle, walking around the desk, but he refuses to acknowledge the obvious threat.

Mike Adamle: You need to have patience like every other common man or woman. According to the board, the WWE Title match at Survivor Series can change depending on the outcome of the match. Now please, see yourselves out…

Kennedy and DiBiase are irritated but Orton puts hands on their shoulders, stopping them from doing more. On that note, they turn and leave, Orton seething as the show cuts to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

After defeating PRIMO in less than two minutes, a stoic, barely broken a sweat VLADIMIR KOSLOV gets himself a microphone.

Vladimir Koslov: This is not victory worth celebrating. I demand the best competition.

With that, Koslov drops the mic and APPLIES THE IRON CLAW TO PRIMO!!!

As Koslov keeps the excruciating hold applied, HE STARTED SLAMMING PRIMO’S HEAD INTO THE CANVAS REPEATEDLY!!!

Koslov is a scary sight right now, as he relinquishes his grip on Primo and gets the mic again.

Vladimir Koslov: I WANT COMPETITION!!!

Nobody answers the call, so Koslov pulls an unconscious Primo to his feet… KOSLOV TAKES PRIMO BACK DOWN WITH A REVERSE CHOKESLAM!!!

Koslov shows no mercy, rolling Primo over… AND APPLY THE IRON CLAW!!!

This time Koslov is able to apply the hold whilst keeping one arm free to hold the mic.

Vladimir Koslov: I WANT COMPETITION NOW!!!

Koslov keeps the hold locked in, really taking it out of Primo amongst the boos from the fans…

***THE TIME IS NOW***

HOLY SHIT! The roof almost blows off the arena as a worse for wear JOHN CENA makes his way out from the back. Cena slowly walks down the ramp, not taking his eyes off of Koslov before stepping through the ropes. As Cena gets inside the ring, the big Russian finally releases poor Primo.

There are no words between the two as Koslov arrogantly puffs out his chest, and Cena meets him in the centre of the ring. The two go nose for nose, the tension building, the fans going insane… THEN KOSLOV PUSHES CENA!!!

Cena stumbles back a couple of steps, smirking as Koslov remains stoic, trying to bully Cena… BUT CENA EXPLODES AND TACKLES KOSLOV DOWN TO THE MAT!!!

The two begin rolling around, throwing punches at each other, trading the ascendency. As the brawl continues, a tonne of officials run to the ring to try and break up this fight.

The two men do end up getting separated, although Koslov keeps throwing officials out of the way because he’s a monster. More and more agents, referees and security make their way down though, and much to the dismay of the fans, the two men are able to be restrained…

Before the break, we get a split screen, showing D GENERATION X, SHAWN MICHAELS and TRIPLE H on the left walking down a hallway in the back. Meanwhile, on the right side of the screen, MR. KENNEDY and RANDY ORTON make their way towards the gorilla position. DX VS. Kennedy and Orton is NEXT!!!

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Match Eight
D Generation X vs. Mr. Kennedy and Randy Orton

In somewhat of a surprising start, DX didn’t get their moment in the sun initially. Instead, Kennedy and Orton started incredibly aggressive early on, and were able to have their way with Shawn Michaels. They attempted to isolate Michaels, and looked like they would be successful, until Triple H threw caution to the wind. Not waiting for a tag, Hunter got in to even up the numbers, since Legacy were doing illegal double teaming to Michaels.

Once Triple H was in, DX were able to seize control of the situation, resulting in MICHAELS CLOTHESLINING KENNEDY OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

WHILST TRIPLE H CLOTHESLINED ORTON OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE AT THE SAME TIME!!!

After the stereo Clotheslines, a frustrated Kennedy and Orton regroup on the outside. Meanwhile, inside the ring, DX now get their moment in the spotlight, getting a round of applause as they crotch chop like it’s 1998. After taking their time and devising a strategy, the heels opt for Kennedy to get back in as the legal man. After a quick discussion, Shawn tagged in Triple H.

Hunter and Kennedy went at it in a one on one situation now that order had been restored. They do some basic stuff for a little while, neither man able to really inflict to much damage. Triple H does eventually start to have some success with working on the arm of Kennedy, before he tags in Michaels, who continues to work on the same limb.

DX’s experience seems to be coming to the forefront here, until Michaels bounces off the ropes to build some momentum… BUT ORTON GRABS A HANDFUL OF SHAWN’S HAIR AS HE BOUNCES OFF THE ROPES!!!

Ignoring the pain, Shawn rips his hair free from Orton’s hand, and then knocks him off the apron with a right hand. This gets a big pop from the fans, but the distraction means Michaels then turns into a Clothesline from Kennedy! With that, the match turns into Legacy’s turn to try and establish a heat period, with Kennedy and Orton focusing in on the back of Michaels.

It doesn’t last long though as Orton sends Michaels into the corner, but when he charges in after him, Michaels gets a boot up into the WWE Champions face. Orton staggers backwards, holding his jaw, as Michaels applies a Side Headlock and drags Orton to the DX corner, making the tag to H in the process. Trips gets in and starts dominating Orton with right hands and Clotheslines, until Kennedy illegally enters.

Hunter initially has some Clotheslines for Kennedy as well, but then focuses a little too much on Orton, allowing Kennedy to attack him from behind. Much to the dismay of Michaels, who is restrained by the referee, Kennedy and Orton the stomp all over ‘The Game’, as we cut to our final break of the evening.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

When we return from the break, Triple H is still the legal man for DX, and he’s still being taken apart by Kennedy and Orton. At this point, Orton is methodically beating him with right hands in the corner, before he throws Triple H outside of the ring. The referee gets in Orton’s face, admonishing him for the use of closes fists in the ropes, and Orton uses the opportunity to continue the argument as a distraction.

With the referee occupied, Kennedy leaps off the apron and brings Triple H to his feet on the floor… KENNEDY WHIPS TRIPLE H INTO THE STEEL RING STEPS!!!

The noise of the collision echoes throughout the arena whilst H grabs at his shoulder. Kennedy then sends Trips back inside the ring and Orton goes back onto the attack. Legacy keeps up the domination, and they don’t hesitate to cheat to make things easier for themselves either. As the match continued to progress, Kennedy started teeing off with right hands, before looking to send Triple H into the ropes.

Hunter reversed, sending Kennedy into the ropes instead, and when Kennedy returns… TRIPLE H TAKES KENNEDY’S HEAD OFF WITH A CLOTHESLINE!!!

Both men remain down, and with the fans firmly behind DX, the crawl race to the teams respective corners takes place. Despite being knocked loopy, Kennedy gets to his corner faster, tagging in Orton. The WWE Champion gets in straight away and manages to grab H by the ankle, stopping him from making the tag to Michaels. Orton looks to drag Hunter back towards the centre of the ring, but Trips rolls to his back, kicks Orton away, and now he’s able to make the hot tag to Michaels.

‘The Heartbreak Kid’ comes in and overwhelms Orton with a barrage of punches and chops. Sensing his leader in trouble, Kennedy comes in and runs at Shawn… MICHAELS CATCHES KENNEDY WITH A MANHATTAN DROP!!!

Kennedy remains on his feet, bouncing on the spot, grabbing at his groin, until Shawn takes him down with a Clothesline! Unfortunately for Michaels, the numbers caught up to him as Orton quickly spins him around and backs him into the ropes with right hands. Orton then sends Michaels bouncing off the ropes… MICHAELS COMES BACK WITH THE FLYING FOREARM!!!

FOLLOWED BY THE KIP UP!!!

The arena is rocking now, as a fired up Shawn plays to the crowd, ONLY TO SIDESTEP A CHARGING KENNEDY AND THROW HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Turning back towards the champion now, Michaels notices Orton just struggling to his feet. Michaels takes him back with down with a Scoop Slam, before heading onto the apron and climbing up to the top rope… FLYING ELBOW DROP CONNECTS FROM MICHAELS!!!

Instead of going for the cover, Michaels gets up and heads to the corner, beginning to tune up the band. The fans are losing it, and as Orton blindly gets to his feet… SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

NO!!! ORTON DUCKS UNDER THE LEG…

AND SMOOTHLY TRANSITIONS INTO AN INVERTED HEADLOCK BACKBREAKER!!!

Meanwhile, on the outside, H had gone to beat up Kennedy some after he was thrown outside the ring. Kennedy has managed to gain the upper hand though… AND KENNEDY TAKES H DOWN WITH A KNEE LIFT ON THE FLOOR!!!

Inside the ring, Orton dragged Michaels into the centre of the ring and then called Kennedy in to join him. Together, the two members of Legacy beat on Michaels, before dragging him to his feet. They whip Michaels into the ropes, and when he comes back… KENNEDY HITS A SPINEBUSTER!!!

ORTON MAKES THE COVER…1…2…NO!!! MICHAELS GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Not wasting any time, Orton pulls the defenceless body of Orton up and drapes the lower half of Michaels’ body over the middle rope. Orton gets a Front Facelock… ORTON HITS THE ELEVATED DDT!!!

ORTON HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! TRIPLE H PULLS ORTON OUT TO THE FLOOR TO BREAK UP THE COUNT!!!

Before Orton can react, H slides inside the ring, where Kennedy runs at him… TRIPLE H CATCHES KENNEDY WITH THE HARLEY RACE HIGH KNEE!!!

Orton immediately slides back into the ring and in a rage, he runs at H… TRIPS GETS THE DOUBLE A SPINEBUSTER!!!

With that, the fresh Triple H encouraged Michaels and then went and stood in the DX corner of the ring, awaiting the tag. Michaels crawled over to make the tag, but Kennedy grabbed him by the ankle, cutting him off. Michaels manages to fight to his feet, balancing on one leg as Kennedy holds the other… SHAWN NAILS KENNEDY WITH AN ENZUIGURI!!!

And just like that, Shawn makes the big tag to Triple H now! H goes to town on Orton, running through him with three consecutive Clotheslines, BEFORE CATCHING ORTON WITH THE KNEE FACEBUSTER!!!

Out of it but somehow still on his feet, Orton staggers, until Trips hits a kick to the gut… PEDIGREE!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY RUNS THROUGH TRIPLE H WITH A CLOTHESLINE TO STOP ORTON FROM BEING PEDIGREED!!!

Both Legacy members stomp all over Triple H, only deciding to return him to a vertical base when they deem him not a threat. Kennedy drags H to his feet, and shoves him towards the waiting Orton… RKO!!!

NO!!! TRIPS SHOVES ORTON OFF OF HIM…

CAUSING ORTON TO COLLIDE AND CLASH HEADS WITH KENNEDY!!!

Kennedy rolls out to the floor, in a world of trouble, potentially concussion coming into play here. Meanwhile, MICHAELS COMES FROM NOWHERE WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC TO ORTON!!!

Orton stumbles to the side, and before he can collapse, H meets him with a kick to the gut… PEDIGREE TO ORTON!!!

TRIPLE H HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: D Generation X @ 19:37

It’s a successful night for DX tonight, and the ovation is MASSIVE for the fan favourite tandem. Michaels and Hunter celebrate in the ring, and of course that means it’s crotch chop city once again. Meanwhile, Kennedy pulled an out of it Orton out of the ring to try and help him to the back.

Legacy retreat up the ramp, as the feel good celebration continues for DX. Suddenly though, DX stop celebrating, looking interested as MIKE ADAMLE stepped out onto the stage. Meaning business, Adamle pulled out a mic and got right to it.

Mike Adamle: Firstly, I apologise for interrupting the celebration here tonight, but I guaranteed I would announce the number one contender for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series and that’s what I’m here to do. Now Randy, I can confirm that at Survivor Series, there are two suggested matches that won’t be happening. It won’t be you versus Shawn or you versus Triple H.

Heat from the fans, whilst still remaining halfway up the ramp, Orton looks relieved. Both DX members look disturbed by this announcement.

Mike Adamle: Considering both these men have pinned you in the last week, the only fair course of action will be to confirm that at Survivor Series, it will be Randy Orton defending the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match against both Shawn Michaels and Triple H!!!

Now there’s a big pop from the fans. Adamle drops his mic and leaves, as Orton throws a tantrum, looking INFURIATED on the ramp. Interestingly enough, inside the ring, DX have now turned their attentions towards each other, staring each other down in a semi playful yet still kind of tense way.

And with our WWE Championship match for Survivor Series now announced, the show fades to black with DX no longer celebrating, and instead looking very awkward with each other…
