I think it's too early in the BTB to have a crazy deviation from the norm, so let's say Orton retains. I'll pick CM Punk out of favoritism, then go with Team HHH because I would like to see Dibiase Jr. get a run.

Let's say HHH doesn't join Legacy though despite the win. The IC title may open the entire show so that'll be first of these matches. The Eight Man Tag probably goes the longest and let's say HHH pins Paul London.

The next post in here will be Summerslam so thought I’d allow anybody who is interested the chance to leave some predictions on our featured matches.

PREDICTIONS CONTEST:

WWE Summerslam

August 16th, 2009
Los Angeles, California
Staples Centre

WWE Championship Match:
Randy Orton (c)
defends against John Morrison
As cool as this would be, I think it's probably too quick to give Morrison the title, so I think Orton will hold on.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
CM Punk (c)
defends against Bryan Danielson
I suppose this could go either way, but I think there's still life left in Punk as champion and Danielson is just getting going.

Eight Man Tag Team Match:
Cody Rhodes, Mr. Kennedy, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Triple H vs. John Cena, Kofi Kingston, Paul London and Rey Mysterio
Again, could go either way I think but I think I should probably pick some faces to win instead of going all heel, haha. Could see HHH making his decision here but it probably won't actually come til after the WWE Championship match.

Bonus Questions:
1. Will Triple H make a decision on joining Legacy tonight? Yes and he does not join
2. Which featured match will be first to air? IC Title
3. Which match will be the longest? IC Title
4. Who will gain the fall in the Eight Man Tag Team match? Rey Mysterio
5. Who will drop the fall in the Eight Man Tag Team match? Ted DiBiase Jr.

PREDICTIONS CONTEST:

WWE Summerslam

WWE Championship Match:
Randy Orton (c) defends against John Morrison

Can't see John Morrison winning this early into the thread with Orton a key focus

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
CM Punk (c) defends against Bryan Danielson

Same reasoning as Dubb, With Kennedy lurking in the background I expect him to make his presence felt.

Eight Man Tag Team Match:
Cody Rhodes, Mr. Kennedy, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Triple H vs. John Cena, Kofi Kingston, Paul London and Rey Mysterio

Going for a shock babyface win due to a mix up between HHH and Legacy to cost them the match

Bonus Questions:
1. Will Triple H make a decision on joining Legacy tonight? Yes
2. Which featured match will be first to air? IC title match
3. Which match will be the longest? IC title match
4. Who will gain the fall in the Eight Man Tag Team match? John Cena
5. Who will drop the fall in the Eight Man Tag Team match? Ted Dibiase Jr

Very much enjoying this and as always the booking is great and leaving lots of questions to be answered but you also have highly detailed mateches which I'm a big fan of. I just know you have an awesome plan as to how this is all going to end up and I cannot wait to see exactly what it is.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:

Eight Man Tag Team Match:
Cody Rhodes, Mr. Kennedy, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Triple H
vs. John Cena, Kofi Kingston, Paul London and Rey Mysterio

Strangely enough, we open up the second biggest pay per view of the year with a clip from earlier today, which shows the camera focusing in on a closed locker room door. As the camera zooms in closer and closer to the nameplate, we see that it reads ‘VLADIMIR KOZLOV’.

After a few moments of an inactive scene, the door swings open, and whilst we don’t get a view of Kozlov, we see the WWE Champion Randy Orton leaving the room. Orton turns to shut the door behind him, a huge smile on his face, as he begins to trudge down the hallway

Match Two
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
CM Punk (c) defends against Bryan Danielson

The fans are pretty amped up for this one, two of their fan favourites going at it in the first representation of the Raw brand tonight. Both competitors wear knowing smirks as the referee calls for the bell, they are both aware at how tough but also how exciting this match will be for both of them. Showing their mutual respect, they share a polite shake of hands, before they back away and begin circling each other. They stay on the canvas for the early stages, and whilst Punk is no slouch, he’s no match for Danielson, who tends to be far more skilled and is able to begin stretching Punk.

After getting some relief from a rope break, when they look to lock up again, Punk diverts, and fires off some of his patented kicks to the body to keep Danielson away from him. It’s a game of chess, as to counter the kicks, Danielson starts reading the kicks and using them to progress Double Legged Takedowns to get Punk back to the canvas. The IC Champ smartly stays close to the ropes to allow himself to get back to his feet, and when Danielson tries another Double Leg, Punk gets the read and lands a brutal knee to the face!

The blow is enough to send Danielson falling to the canvas, and it allows Punk to begin to hold a long term advantage. Punk continues to work on the head and neck area of Danielson, realising that knee may have some done some serious damage. It’s a pretty simple offense from Punk, as he continues to use his knees and kicks to cut Danielson off, but eventually Danielson manages to hit another level, firing up with some stiff forearm shots.

‘AmDrag’ gets on a real roll, nailing shot after shot, showing tremendous to still be in it after the punishment he’s received. Danielson’s strikes send Punk reeling into the corner, allowing Danielson to pace back a few steps, Danielson charges in and connects with a big forearm in the corner… FOLLOWED BY A STEP UP GAMENGURI OFF THE ROPES!!!

Refusing to allow Punk to settle, DANIELSON GETS HIM UP FOR THE DRAGON SUPLEX!!!

Punk throws desperation elbows to break free, and it’s enough for Danielson to relinquish his grip. After a few more right hands, Punk sends Danielson into the corner, before following him in with his big corner knee strike. Of course, Punk takes Danielson out of the corner with a Bulldog! The IC Champ takes a moment to catch his breath after Danielson’s explosion of offense, and it allows Danielson to roll underneath the bottom rope and to the outside.

Once back up, Punk bounces off the ropes… LEAPING THROUGH THE ROPES WITH THE TOPE SUICIDA!!!

BUT DANIELSON LEAPS ONTO THE APRON AND STOPS PUNK’S HEAD THROUGH THE ROPES WITH A FOREARM!!!

The blows enough for Punk to fall back to the canvas and remain inside of the ring. Already on the apron, Danielson ascends to the top rope, and when Punk gets back to his feet… DANIELSON CONNECTS WITH A FLYING DROPKICK!!!

Danielson lands roughly on his back like only he can, whilst the velocity of the move sends Punk rolling to the outside. Punk begins using the crowd barricade to pull himself to his feet, whilst Danielson remains down… Until he kips up! The showy move gets a big pop from the fans, as Danielson looks around the ring, finally spotting Punk stumbling to his feet. Danielson charges across the ring… DANIELSON IS ABLE TO ACTUALLY CONNECT WITH A TOPE SUICIDA!!!

Despite the blow surely having some effect on him as well, Danielson heaves Punk straight up and rolls him into the ring. ‘AmDrag’ follows in and goes to work with some strikes now, giving some receipts from earlier by kicking the living hell out of Punk. With Punk dazed… DANIELSON LOOKS FOR THE ROLLING ELBOW!!!

PUNK DUCKS…

AND GETS DANIELSON ONTO HIS SHOULDERS FOR THE GO TO SLEEP!!!

DANIELSON MANAGES TO SQUIRM FREE AND GET BEHIND PUNK…

DANIELSON LANDS A GERMAN SUPLEX!!!

DANIELSON KEEPS THE BRIDGE…1…2…NO!!! PUNK ROLLS A SHOULDER OFF THE MAT!!!

As soon as Danielson releases the bridge… HE SNATCHES PUNK… LOOKING TO LOCK IN A CROSSFACE CHICKEN WING!!!

BUT PUNK USES HIS FREE ARM TO REPEATEDLY ELBOW DANIELSON IN THE FACE!!!

Danielson has no choice but to let go, which allows Punk to bounce back to his feet. Danielson is straight back up as well, but Punk meets him with a right hand, followed by a left hand and then a Spinning Back Fist. The barrage of shots causes Danielson to struggle to stay on his feet… SO PUNK KNOCKS HIM DOWN WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

Now it’s Punk’s turn to show no mercy as he drags Danielson back up… PUNK GETS HIM ON HIS SHOULDERS FOR THE GO TO SLEEP AGAIN!!!

DANIELSON MANAGES TO WRIGGLE FREE AND FALL DOWN PUNK’S BACK AGAIN…

THIS TIME TAKING HIM DOWN WITH A SUNSET FLIP…1…2…NO!!! PUNK ROLLS OUT AND BACK TO HIS FEET!!!

BUT DANIELSON IMMEDIATELY SYNCHES IN A TRIANGLE CHOKE!!!

Punk’s face immediately starts turning shades of red and purple, he’s got nowhere to go, and his squirming just seems to be allowing Danielson to tighten the hold. Just as it seems like Punk is seriously beginning to fade, he manages to desperately lunge to the side and place his right foot on the bottom rope.

Despite the clear frustration, Danielson abides by the rules and let’s go of the hold immediately. Looking for some space, Punk tries to separate himself from Danielson by rolling underneath the bottom rope and onto the solace of the apron. Danielson walks over and leans over the top rope, attempting to pull Punk up, when Punk explodes with a forearm out of nowhere.

Danielson goes staggering back towards the centre of the ring… PUNK COMES BACK IN WITH THE SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE!!!

BUT DANIELSON SIDESTEPS…

AND CATCHES PUNK’S ARM IN MID AIR!!!

As Punk crashes and burns to the canvas… DANIELSON LOOKS TO COMPLETE THE CATTLE MUTILATION!!!

Punk manages to keep himself in a seated position and desperately spins around. It’s an incredible counter as PUNK GETS HIMSELF IN POSITION TO APPLY A FUJIWARA ARMBAR!!!

WHEN DANIELSON ROLLS FORWARD… INTO A JACKNIFE PIN…1…2…NO!!! PUNK BREAKS FREE AT THE LAST SECOND!!!

Both men struggle to their feet and meet in the centre… WHEN PUNK FIRES A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE TEMPLE OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Somehow Danielson stays on his feet… SO PUNK FIRES ANOTHER ROUNDHOUSE KICK…

AND A THIRD…

AND A FOURTH!!!

FINALLY, Danielson looks set to collapse, but instead he falls into the ropes, and rebounds back towards Punk… WHERE PUNK GETS DANIELSON ON HIS SHOULDERS FOR THE THIRD TIME TONIGHT!!!

THIS TIME THE GO TO SLEEP LANDS!!!

PUNK HOOKS BOTH LEGS…1…2…3!!!

Winner: CM Punk via pinfall @ 16:56

A big cheer goes up for the end of the hard fought contest, as an exhausted Punk has his hand raised by the referee. After celebrating with his IC Title, Punk leans down and sportingly helps Danielson back to his feet.

The two shake hands, showing that despite how heated the match got, there is still respect between the two of them. Danielson gives Punk one last nod, before leaving the ring, allowing Punk to have the space to himself to further celebrate his big victory.

As the celebration continues, we quickly cut to the back where we see an irritated Mr. Kennedy, watching the celebration on a monitor. Kennedy shakes his head in disgust, unhappy with the man who took the title from him having a successful defence.

Punk continues to celebrate though, feeling on top of the world…

Moving on from CM Punk, we cut to the interview set where Todd Grisham is standing by.

Todd Grisham: Ladies and gentleman, please welcome my quest at this time, he is the number one contender for the WWE Championship… JOHN MORRISON!!!

A nice ovation comes from inside the arena as John Morrison steps into screenshot. He’s already in his wrestling fear, looking ready to go for tonight’s main event.

Todd Grisham: John, thank you for your time on what has to be the biggest night of your career so far. In recent weeks you’ve been trying your best to stay grounded, stay focused and not get overcome by emotions. I have to ask, now that we’re finally here and your moment has arrived, have things changed? How are you feeling?

Morrison shakes his head, signalling that things haven’t changed.

John Morrison: No, things haven’t changed. As far as I’m concerned, things are exactly the same. I’m here tonight at Summerslam in the Staples Centre to do what I said I will do. Tonight, I fulfill my destine and I become the WWE Champion.

Continuing with his recent trend, Morrison keeps things short, sharp and to the point as he heads off to continue his match preparations…

A little later on in the night we’re backstage yet again, inside a locker room where both the WWE Champion Randy Orton and Triple H stand. The two look rather civil but are in the midst of a serious conversation, and we pick up audio midway through.

Randy Orton: The last few weeks things have gone to plan for us, but I still didn’t get an answer from you on Raw. What’s the hold up?

Triple H nonchalantly shrugs.

Triple H: Nothing’s changed. I want to be in a group that gets results.

Orton gets an incredulous look on his face, as he believes it’s obvious Legacy are getting results.

Triple H: Big decisions take time, and you have my word that I’m not just jerking you around. If your boys and me blend well together again tonight…

‘The Game’ pauses, building that suspense.

Triple H: It would be a safe assessment to say my potential future in Legacy would look very bright.

This brings a smirk to Orton’s face, as it’s arguably the closest Triple H has got to indicating that he will join Legacy.

Randy Orton: That sounds like a plan. Now look, I’ve got to run, I have some other business to attend to.

With that, Orton leaves Triple H to continue to prepare for the big eight man tag later on tonight…

Vladimir Kozlov defeated Batista via pinfall after landing his Savage Headbutt to the chest @ 11:29.

Most the audience is in a stunned silence as Kozlov celebrates his victory, and by celebrate, he gets his hand raised by the referee and dead pans the crowd. Still, even if he doesn’t show it, it’s a huge deal that Kozlov just earned himself a CLEAN victory over Batista.

As Kozlov steps out of the ring and makes his way up the ramp, he’s approached by the WWE Champion Randy Orton. The two exchange a knowing glance, and then like ships passing in the night, they continue in their opposite directions.

Kozlov disappears behind the curtain, whilst Orton slides into the ring, stalking Batista. As Big Dave battles back to his feet, Orton unstraps the title from around his waist… ORTON NAILS BATISTA WITH A TITLE SHOT TO THE SKULL!!!

In his usual, slow, methodical manner, Orton hops outside the ring, dragging the carcass of Batista onto the apron. Orton remains on the floor, gripping Batista’s head and neck… ELEVATED DDT FROM THE APRON TO THE CONCRETE FLOOR CONNECTS!!!

At this point, Batista is completely out of it, barely conscious, but Orton just continues to snarl. The WWE Champion goes and grabs himself a steel chair, setting it up open, ready to be seated on. He then slowly drags the dead weight of Batista up… RKO ONTO THE OPEN CHAIR!!!

Batista isn’t even moving after the crushing blow, as a hush has well and truly come over the arena. Orton looks around though, contemplating, you can almost see his brain working when he decides upon his next move. Again, the champ struggles to get the dead weight of his former Evolution running buddy up, but he does, and he slides Batista back into the ring.

Orton follows in and camps himself in the corner, as Batista barely moves. Orton prepares himself… AND LOOKS TO CHARGE FOR THE PUNT KICK!!!

WHEN…

JOHN CENA SLIDES INTO THE RING!!!

SO ORTON IMMEDIATELY SLIDES OUT!!!

A fired up Cena is against the ropes, begging for Orton to get back in, whilst Orton is clearly furious at having his plans thwarted. Orton ignores Cena’s pleas to get back into the ring, but he does stick around and admire his handiwork. Unfortunately for Batista, the only way he makes it out of the arena tonight is by medics and a stretcher.

After Batista is cleared from the ring, Orton gets mad as Cena bends down and picks up the WWE Title that Orton left behind. As Orton demands for his title back, a fired-up Cena gets himself a microphone.

John Cena: I know that we both have different matches tonight, but I’ll make this real simple for you. If you want your title back, you’ll have to grow a set and come and claim it yourself!

Tremendous support comes from the fans for that announcement, as Orton paces back and forth, unsure what to do…

UNTIL…

LEGACY… CODY RHODES, MR. KENNEDY AND TED DIBIASE JR. STEP THROUGH THE CURTAIN…

And alongside them is…

TRIPLE H!!!

They join Orton at ringside and the five of them discuss a plan before beginning to surround the ring. Triple H is the first one to get onto the apron… CENA NAILS TRIPLE H WITH THE TITLE!!!

Triple H falls to the floor and Cena turns to see Kennedy leaping onto the apron on the opposite side of the ring… CENA CHARGES AND NAILS KENNEDY WITH THE TITLE!!!

Cena still wants a piece of Orton as Orton ushers for Priceless to get into the ring, when
KOFI KINGSTON, PAUL LONDON and REY MYSTERIO SPRINT THROUGH THE CURTAIN!!!

They come down the ramp and meet Priceless and begin brawling with them, leaving only Orton to face Cena. Cena drops the title and tells Orton to come get some, and Orton surprisingly obliges.

The WWE Champion who has been avoiding Cena for months slides into the ring… AND RUNS AT CENA, SWINGING WITH A CLOTHESLINE…

CENA DUCKS…

CENA PLANS ORTON WITH THE FU!!!

An embarrassed and in pain Orton somehow clutches onto his title as he rolls away from Cena, and to the outside of the ring. Cena is pumped up, the fans are chanting his name, when a referee runs to the ring and calls for the bell. We’re going to have our eight-man tag team match right now…

Match Five
Eight Man Tag Team Match
Cody Rhodes, Mr. Kennedy, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Triple H vs. John Cena, Kofi Kingston, Paul London and Rey Mysterio

The ringing of the bell doesn’t really change anything, as it’s still pure chaos and mayhem with everybody continuing the insane brawl. Of course, now that he’s taken care of Randy Orton, Cena joins the party on the outside, swinging at anybody on the opposition side that moves. Speaking of the WWE Champion Randy Orton, it’s worth noting that he has not left ringside. Instead, he lays on the floor, WWE Title in possession, but he’s still holding his back after the devastating FU. As the carnage continues, ECW’s Kingston manages to separate himself and get back into the ring. He takes a deep breath and then charges across the ring… KOFI TAKES DOWN ALL THE COMPETITIORS… EVEN HIS TEAMMATES… WITH A FLIPPING SENTON FROM INSIDE THE RING TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

This obviously garners a huge pop from the fans, as a pumped up Kofi jumps to his feet, all pumped after the big move. This kind of breaks up the brawl and settles things done, and we end with a situation, where Kofi decides to grab a hold of Rhodes, and send him inside the ring. Once on the inside, Kingston begins working on the arm of Cody, and the face team begin exchanging quick tags, isolating Rhodes from his team’s corner.

They continue to put in work on Cody, until we get to a point where London is in the ring with him. As London looks to build some momentum by bouncing off the ropes, Kennedy gets off of the apron and trips up the leg of London when he hits the ropes. It’s subtle but it’s enough for London to fall face first to the canvas, and it’s enough to completely alter the course of the match.

Now it’s the heels team turn to isolate London, deliberately working over the head and neck area of their victim. Throughout this period, Legacy work really well with Triple H, as the commentators talk about how amazingly they seem to be meshing together as a team. Using his experience, Triple H seems to be the one that’s directing traffic, but everybody plays their role perfectly. A recovered Randy Orton looks relatively pleased with what he’s watching from the outside as well.

Despite their best efforts though, Legacy and ‘The Game’ just can’t quite put London away. Eventually, the tag champs, Rhodes and DiBiase are looking to double team London… AND CODY GOES FOR A CLOTHESLINE…

LONDON DUCKS…

AND CODY ACCIDENTALLY CONNECTS WITH DIBIASE!!!

A stressed Rhodes furiously turns to face London… LONDON PERFORMS A DROPSAULT!!!

DROPKICKING CODY… AND LANDING A STANDING MOONSAULT ON THE FALLEN DIBIASE!!!

It’s a showstopping move from London and it gets the fans back into it, as now the legal men in London and DiBiase begin crawling to their respective corners for a tag. With the fans urging him on, London is able to make the tag to his partner in Mysterio, whilst DiBiase tags in Kennedy. Mysterio comes in as the fresh man and immediately uses his quickness to bamboozle Kennedy with a bunch of his famous Lucha takedowns.

Rhodes still hasn’t left the ring yet and he tries to pummel Mysterio from behind, but Cena intervenes, grabbing Cody and tossing him to the outside of the ring. As Cena turns to potentially exit the ring, he’s met by Triple H. The 2006 WrestleMania main event goes nose to nose, and Triple H and Cena begin exchanging punches. Triple H, Cena, Triple H, Cena, Triple H, Cena, Cena, Cena, Cena…

John Cena begins getting on top of the exchanging, almost backing Triple H into a corner, when ‘The Game’ delivers a desperate knee to the mid-section. Before Hunter can do anything else to Cena… KOFI COMES FROM NOWHERE AND TAKES TRIPLE H OUT WITH A FLYING SHOTGUN DROPKICK!!!

This allows Cena to regain his breath because a furious Cody gets back into the ring and charges at him. Rhodes shows some inexperience, wildly swinging with a right hand… Cena ducks… AND CONNECTS WITH A BIG PROTO BOMB!!!

As Mysterio keeps Kennedy busy in the corner, Cena stands over Cody and gives him the old “YOU CAN’T SEE ME”. This leads to Cena bouncing off the ropes… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE LANDS!!!

It’s safe to say the referee has completely lost control now as DiBiase looks to sneak in and attack Cena from behind… LONDON CUTS HIM OFF WITH A SUPERKICK!!!

Somehow, DiBiase remains on his feet, albeit spaghetti legged… DIBIASE STUMBLES RIGHT INTO AN FU FROM CENA!!!

On the outside, Orton is furious, knowing exactly how that moves. Back inside of the ring, Kennedy has managed to momentarily dispose of Mysterio, and as London looks to turn back towards his teams corner… KENNEDY DRILLS LONDON WITH A SPINEBUSTER!!!

Seeing this, Cena sprints at Kennedy and Spears him, the momentum sending both of them tumbling through the ropes and to the outside. They continue to brawl on the floor with reckless abandon, meanwhile inside of the ring, Rhodes is doing his best to fight back to his feet. Rhodes crawls to the ropes, pushing off the bottom rope, to pull himself to his knees with the middle rope… But before he can get any closer to standing back up… A RECOVERED MYSTERIO POUNCES WITH THE 619!!!

Rhodes gets back to his feet after the blow, however he’s clearly out of it… AND HE STAGGERS INTO A TROUBLE IN PARADISE FROM KOFI!!!

Big time move but the referee makes it clear Mysterio or Kingston can’t pin Rhodes as he’s not the legal man. Meanwhile, on the outside, the legal man for the heels in Kennedy is now double teaming Cena with the help of Triple H. After battering him around ringside, TRIPLE H GRABS A HOLD OF CENA AND RAMS HIM FACE FIRST INTO THE RING POST!!!

With Cena seemingly taken care of for now, Kennedy slides back into the ring, and as Kingston is bending down to pick up Rhodes… KENNEDY POUNCES WITH A SWINGING NECKBREAKER!!!

In a fair bit of pain, Kingston rolls to the outside, whilst a triumphant Kennedy… TURNS STRAIGHT INTO A SPRINGBOARD SEATED SENTON FROM MYSTERIO!!!

REY REY REACHES BACK TO GRAB THE LEG FOR THE COVER…1…2…NO!!! TRIPLE H DIVES IN TO BREAK THE COUNT AND MAKE THE SAVE!!!

Groans emanate from the audience as they thought that might have been it there. Triple H doesn’t relent, dragging Mysterio up and hammering away with right hands. ‘The Game’ then sends Mysterio off the ropes, but Mysterio comes back with a Swinging Hurricanrana! After the move, Mysterio stays down, as London leaps back onto the apron at his teams corner and calls for the tag. Mysterio looks to make his way over… WHEN KENNEDY SPRINTS ACROSS THE RING AND KNOCKS LONDON OFF OF THE APRON!!!

London goes flying with an unfortunate landing, crashing chest first into the crowd barricade. As an arrogant Kennedy brags to the crowd, he leaves himself open as Mysterio takes him down with a Spinning Heel Kick! Rey Rey decides to roll underneath the bottom rope and to the apron, where he stalks Triple H, who is yet to make it to his feet. On the outside, Kingston looks to be battling to his feet… WHEN HE GETS TAKEN OUT FROM BEHIND WITH A ZIG ZAG!!!

FROM DOLPH ZIGGLER!!!???

Continuing their not focused on issues on the ECW Brand, Ziggler has interfered and basically eliminated Kingston from this match. The referee’s to busy trying to keep up with all the action that he misses the interference. A pleased Dolph just as quickly runs back up the ramp, ignoring the heat from the fans and disappearing behind the curtain. Back inside of the ring, Triple H has worked his way back to his feet… SO MYSTERIO LOOKS SET TO SPRINGBOARD OFF THE ROPES…

BUT KENNEDY SNEAKS FROM BEHIND AND PUSHES REY OFF THE ROPES…

STRAIGHT INTO A FACEBREAKER KNEE SMASH FROM TRIPLE H!!!

His mask offers no protection as Mysterio crumbles to the canvas, grabbing at his face. Triple H wastes no time at all, dragging Mysterio back up… TRIPLE H DRILLS MYSTERIO WITH THE PEDIGREE!!!

Cena is back up on the outside, scaring away Orton, who was getting a little too close to comfort. Cena then turns around, facing the camera for the first time since his collision with the ring post to show that he is busted open. A little bit of blood isn’t going to stop Cena though as he sees what’s happening in the ring and looks to slide back in…BUT HE GETS INTERCEPTED BY A STANDING DROPKICK FROM CODY!!!

Paul London has somehow battled back to his feet on the outside, as inside of the ring, Triple H instructs Kennedy to “FINISH HIM”, whilst pointing at Mysterio. London looks to slide back into the ring to save his partner… WHEN RANDY ORTON ILLEGALY GRABS A HOLD OF LONDON’S LEGS… KEEPING HIM ON THE OUTSIDE!!!

All London can do is watch and struggle, unable to break the WWE Champion’s grip, as Kennedy drags the already finished Mysterio back up… MIC CHECK CONNECTS!!!

KENNEDY WITH THE PIN…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Cody Rhodes, Mr. Kennedy, Ted DiBiase Jr. and Triple H @ 15:00

The referee signals for the bell and the heat begins from the fans, as the rest of Legacy join Triple H and Kennedy inside of the ring. They all celebrate, having picked up a huge victory on the second biggest show of the year.

Orton still clearly favours his back from the FU received earlier, however he still makes sure to point at and compliment Kennedy on his performance. With some instructions from Orton, DiBiase Jr. hoists Kennedy in a seated position on his shoulders, parading him around the ring.

KK is all smiles, enjoying the moment, whilst Cody and Orton shoot Kennedy’s thumbs up. Meanwhile, ‘The Game’ watches on with a smirk, perhaps remembering his own thumbs up, thumbs down moment with Orton once upon a time.

Whilst Orton doesn’t officially ask Triple H for his decision on joining Legacy, the five all celebrate together. We don’t know Triple H’s decision yet, but surely tonight could have done no harm towards him giving Orton a positive answer…

From there, we head to the interview set, where Raw’s Todd Grisham is standing by.

Todd Grisham: Ladies and gentleman, please welcome my guest, the man who successfully defended his WWE Intercontinental Championship in an instant classic against Bryan Danielson earlier tonight… CM PUNK!!!

Loud cheers as a casually dressed CM Punk appears next to Todd, IC strap resting over his shoulder.

Todd Grisham: Thanks for joining me. You requested this time to get something off your chest, what would you like to share?

Punk takes a beat before responding.

CM Punk: Thanks, Todd. I don’t want to just skip over what I endured tonight to retain my Intercontinental title. I have nothing but respect for ‘The American Dragon’, he was a hell of a tough challenge. Props to him, I’m sure it won’t be long until he’s holding gold here in the WWE, but nobody in the WWE can kick out of the GTS.

Cheers from the fans inside the arena, they like that Punk is confident.

CM Punk: Before I won this title, and even after I won it, I’ve made my ambitions clear and I want to state that those haven’t changed. I am proud to be the Intercontinental Champion… But I’m here to put the two men in tonight’s main event on notice. That’s the only reason why I’m still in this building, I am still chasing that WWE Championship. I’ve got my eyes on the main event between Orton and Morrison tonight.

Punk then uses his hand to move the mic from his mouth, signalling that the interview is over. As Punk disappears from screenshot, Grisham sends us back to ringside for some random Smackdown match that we don’t care about in this BTB…

We now skip to later on in the evening, with the Smackdown main event of the night being completed. We head to the backstage area, and we see the number one contender John Morrison walking down a hallway. Fur coat on to jazz things up for Summerslam, Morrison looks extremely focused as he continues on his way…

We then cut to a separate hallway where we see the WWE Champion Randy Orton making his way towards the curtain. Orton grimaces, walking slowly and still favouring his back after the FU received from John Cena earlier in the night. ‘The Viper’ pauses, takes a deep breath, regaining his composure before he continues down the hall… THE MAIN EVENT IS UP NEXT!!!

Match Nine
WWE Championship Match
Randy Orton (c) defends against John Morrison

Both men kick things off rather cagily, and there’s definitely a feeling out process here. Orton tries to get in Morrison’s head, verbally welcoming him to the big leagues, but the number one contender maintains his composure. The two opponents lock up and jostle for position, neither able to gain an advantage. When they separate for a few moments before starting again, Orton is still clearly favouring his back after his encounter with Cena earlier tonight. Eventually, the lock ups transition to some basic mat work, with Orton trying to be the aggressor, but Morrison’s speed gets him out of dodge.

Once they are down on the mat, Morrison shows some amateur wrestling skills, riding Orton a little, before bouncing to his feet. The champ is still flat on his belly, allowing Morrison to land three sharp elbow drops right to the injured back of Orton! Those blows did some serious damage to Orton as he yells in pain, and that’s where the mat work finishes up. Knowing he has a significant advantage, Morrison begins to work on the back, culminating with a big STO across his own knee!

Before Morrison can make the cover, Orton rolls underneath the bottom rope and to the outside. He’s clearly struggling, as he leans against the barricade for a moment to catch his breath… AND THEN ORTON TURNS STRAIGHT INTO A CORKSCREW PLANCHA FROM MORRISON!!!

A big time pop emanates from the fans and for the first time Morrison shows some emotion, smirking at the ovation. He then snaps out of it and gets back to work, bringing Orton to his feet and basically bullying him around ringside, including sending him back first into the barricade and the steel steps. With the referee warning of a disqualification or a count out, Morrison rolls Orton back into the ring, before heading to the apron himself.

Morrison ascends to the top rope, and once Orton is back up… MORRISON COMES OFF WITH THE FLYING SHOTGUN DROPKICK!!!

BUT ORTON SIDESTEPS AND AVOIDS CONTACT!!!

It’s a rough landing for Morrison and one that changes everything as the champion gets a gleam in his eye. Orton goes on the attack, immediately stomping the life out of Morrison, focusing on the head and neck area in particular. On commentary, they talk about how Orton is trying to even the odds, injuring a part of Morrison to match Orton’s sore back. They also talk about how all Orton’s big moves focus on the head and neck area.

After a bit of ring psychology 101 from the commentators, Orton continues his attack, a vicious look on his face. In typical Orton fashion, all of the offense is very methodical, but there’s a definite intensity about the way he does things. Of course, the champ isn’t against bending the rules either, not afraid to use choking, hair pulling and all sorts to maintain the advantage.

Orton still grabs at his back here and there, and it clearly makes him mad. Surprisingly, he stops attacking Morrison for a moment, but it’s only to head to the corner, and remove the turnbuckle pads from the top and middle rope. The steel turnbuckles have been exposed as Orton grabs Morrison and tells him “LET’S SEE WHO HAS A BAD BACK”! With that, Orton whips Morrison hard towards the corner with the exposed corner, BUT MORRISON SHOWS INCREDIBLE ATHLETICISM… LEAPING UP TO THE TOP ROPE!!!

ORTON RUNS AT MORRISON…

BUT MORRISON BACKFLIPS OFF THE TOP ROPE…

LANDING BEHIND ORTON AND ON HIS FEET!!!

NOW MORRISON RUNS AT ORTON…

BUT HE RUNS STRAIGHT INTO A CLOTHESLINE!!!

Frustrated at his corner tactic not working, Orton now applies the trusty Orton Lock, really synching in the gruesome Reverse Chinlock. The referee asks Morrison if he wants to quick as he fades, but the number one contender refuses to submit. Eventually, Morrison gets a second wind, stopping his arm from dropping a third time, and he’s able to battle back to his feet. The tenacious champion keeps the hold applied, but Morrison lands a few desperation elbows to the stomach to finally break Orton’s grips.

Orton looks to stop Morrison’s momentum with a right hand, but Morrison blocks and answers with one of his own. The shot staggers Orton and now Morrison is able to land shot after shot, backing Orton against the ropes. A desperate Orton simply shoves Morrison away, trying to cover up and stagger back towards the centre of the ring, but Morrison drops Orton with a Roundhouse Kick!

On instinct, Orton bounces straight back to his feet, where he’s met with more right hands by Morrison. Having the champ dazed, ‘The Shaman Of Sexy’ whips him into one of the corners where the turnbuckles are not exposed. The impact still clearly does damage to the back of Orton, when Morrison charges in, nailing Orton with a High Knee in the corner!

It looks as if Orton is ready to crumble to the canvas, but Morrison keeps him standing, landing a few more right hands in the corner. The number one contender then hoists Orton into a seated position on the top rope, and begins climbing up himself. Morrison makes it all the way to the top… MORRISON TAKES ORTON OFF THE TOP WITH A FRANKENSTEINER!!!

Upon landing, Orton rolls around the canvas, grabbing at his back… WHILST MORRISON CRAWLS OVER AND MAKES THE COVER…1…2…NO!!! ORTON GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Realising the high risk seems to be working for him, Morrison immediately heads right back up to the top rope. He waits for Orton to crawl to the ropes and pull himself up… MISSILE DROPKICK CONNECTS!!!

Now Orton is laid out in the centre of the ring as Morrison jumps back to his feet… STANDING SHOOTING STAR PRESS CONNECTS!!!

MORRISON STAYS ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! ANOTHER SHOULDER UP FROM ORTON!!!

There’s a shake of a head from Morrison and a quick glance at the referee, before he gets back to his feet. Remaining focused, Morrison YET AGAIN steps through the ropes and makes his way to the top. As he tries to recover… ORTON EXPLODES AND LEAPS TOWARDS THE CORNER… CROTCHING MORRISON ON THE TOP ROPE!!!

It looks like Morrison went to the well one time to many, and now he’s stuck in a compromising position on the top rope. Remaining on the canvas, Orton pulls Morrison down by the head and neck… ORTON DRILLS MORRISON WITH THE ELEVATED DDT!!!

Orton takes a deep breath, grimacing at his back pain… BEFORE HOOKING THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! NOW MORRISON JUST GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

This time Orton takes a few backwards steps once he’s up, stalking Morrison from a distance. Orton gets down on his haunches, almost slithering around on the canvas, and when Morrison gets up and turns towards him… RKO!!!

NO!!! MORRISON PUSHES ORTON AWAY…

AND IMMEDIATELY LEAPS INTO A CRUCIFIX PIN…1…2…3!!! NO!!! ORTON JUST ESCAPES!!!

The quickness of Morrison comes into play as he bounces off the ropes and nails a sliding kick to the temple, as Orton had only made it to his knees. Having the champ out of it, Morrison slowly drags him back to his feet… MOONLIGHT DRIVE!!!

NO… ORTON TWISTS OUT BEHIND MORRISON…

AND GETS A SCHOOLBOY PIN…

ORTON GRABS THE TIGHTS…1…2…3
!!! NO!!! MORRISON JUST KICKS OUT!!!

Both men have almost got it with a flash pin now, as they get back to their feet relatively quickly. Morrison is first to strike, looking for a Clothesline, but Orton ducks… ORTON SHOVES MORRISON STRAIGHT INTO THE REFEREE!!!

The ugly collision causes the referee and Morrison to collapse, and only a second later, Orton falls to the mat, once again feeling for his back. After a few moments, Orton begins waving from the back… SO CODY RHODES AND TED DIBIASE BEGIN MAKING THEIR WAY FROM THE BACK!!!

They jog down the ramp but before they can make it to ringside, THEY ARE CHASED DOWN FROM BEHIND BY BRYAN DANIELSON AND PAUL LONDON!!!

Priceless are clearly in shock, caught off guard as Danielson and London go to work, hammering away on them. In the end, Rhodes and DiBiase are forced to crawl back up the ramp, Danielson and London beating them all the way, as they are sent back through the curtain. As Orton has battled back to his feet, he is furious that his interference has failed, shaking his head. After composing himself… ORTON TURNS STRAIGHT INTO A ROUNDHOUSE KICK FROM MORRISON!!!

Orton drops like a tonne of bricks and Morrison goes down as well, both men absolutely exhausted. Whilst Orton doesn’t move to much, Morrison is working his way back to his feet… WHEN MR. KENNEDY RUNS DOWN THE RAMP AND GETS ONTO THE APRON!!!

Kennedy begins jaw jacking with Morrison, distracting him… WHEN JOHN CENA APPEARS FROM NOWHERE AND YANKS KK OFF THE APRON!!!

Ever the loudmouth, Kennedy begins bad mouthing Cena, so Cena begins smashing his face in with right hands. Much like his Priceless buddies before him, Kennedy is forced up the ramp and to the back, no match for the fiery Cena. The fans are going apeshit at the interference backfiring, as even the commentators call out that “LEGACY HAS FINALLY BEEN NETURALISED”!!!

After all the distractions, Morrison still has time to bring Orton to his feet, and drop him in a particular position with a Scoop Slam. Morrison then heads to the corner and the top… STARSHIP PAIN CONNECTS!!!

MORRISON MAKES THE COVER…

THERE’S NO REFEREE!!!

BUT WAIT!!!

THE REF HAS RECOVERED… AND SLOWLY CRAWLS OVER…

1…2…3!!!

NO!!! ORTON JUST GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

For the first time during his journey to this moment, Morrison looks like he’s caught up in some emotion. He’s genuinely frustrated, shaking his head, but he gets nothing from the referee, who has gone back to playing dead. With the ref still drowsy and the match continuing, Morrison has no choice but to slowly try and hoist the dead weight of Orton up… ORTON NAILS A LOW BLOW!!!

An exhausted Orton falls back to the canvas, whilst Morrison crumbles to his knees, clutching at the crown jewels. All three men including the ref are down, and after a few moments of the fans buzzing for something to happen, they all slowly work their way to their feet. The ref does his best to stay out of the way, as Morrison and Orton meet in the centre of the ring… ORTON LEAPS UP FOR THE RKO!!!

MORRISON SHOVES HIM AWAY…

THIS TIME ORTON COLLIDES WITH THE REFEREE!!!

Our poor ref is back down on the canvas, as Morrison looks to capitalise on the dazed champion… WHEN ORTON EXPLODES WITH AN RKO OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Morrison looks out of it at this point, whilst Orton rolls around, grabbing at his back which took the brunt of his landing. After selling his bad back, Orton slowly begins to crawl towards Morrison, but he can’t even attempt a pinfall, as Morrison has ALREADY made it to the ropes and started to pull himself up. Orton’s eyes go wide as he can’t believe it, forcing himself back to his feet and the two competitors meet in the centre of the ring.

Morrison lands a huge right hand, Orton retaliates. Another from Morrison, another from Orton. Neither man is willing to take a backwards step, continuing to tee off on each other, as TRIPLE H STARTS JOGGING DOWN THE RAMP… STEEL CHAIR IN HAND!!!

Boos picks up from the crowd as ‘The Game’ steps onto the apron, chair cocked and ready to go. He watches the action, as Morrison and Orton continue to exchange blows, until Orton lands a vicious European Uppercut. The change up is enough to send Morrison conveniently staggering towards the ropes… WHERE TRIPLE H LOADS UP AND SWINGS THE STEEL CHAIR!!!

MORRISON DUCKS…

TRIPLE H ACCIDENTALLY TAKES ORTON’S HEAD OFF WITH THE CHAIR SHOT!!!

Triple H’s eyes go wide in shock, he can’t believe it, and before he can react, Morrison charges at him and knocks him off the apron. Morrison has some words for Triple H, before turning his attention back towards the WWE Champion. Morrison sees a confused Orton and brings him to his feet… AND MORRISON WHIPS ORTON AS HARD AS HE CAN INTO THE CORNER!!!

ORTON’S INJURED BACK COLLIDES WITH THE EXPOSED TURNBUCKLES!!!

Orton stumbles out of the corner, in complete agony… MORRISON NAILS THE MOONLIGHT DRIVE!!!

MORRISON MAKES THE COVER…

THE REFEREE MANAGES TO SHAKE OUT THE COBWEBS AND CRAWL OVER…

1…2…3!!!

WE’VE GOT A NEW CHAMP!!!

Winner: John Morrison @ 25:38

HOLY SHIT!!! It’s pandemonium inside the arena as we have a NEW WWE CHAMPION!!! The ovation is HUGE, the arena is shaking, as Morrison fights back to his feet. He’s clearly holding back tears as the referee puts him in possession of the WWE Title for the first time.

He closes his eyes and kisses the title, cherishing the moment, before he begins heading to the corners of the ring. Morrison continues to celebrate with the fans, as a battered Orton slowly rolls outside of the ring.

As he gets to the outside, he sees a crestfallen Triple H, who looks speechless. ‘The Game’ puts his hands up, admitting he did wrong, attempting to apologise, as Orton begins to tremble with rage…

AND ORTON SHOVES TRIPLE H HARD IN THE CHEST… CAUSING HIM TO FALL TO THE FLOOR!!!

Without even a second thought, Orton shakes his head and turns way, limping up the ramp, still holding onto his back. After taking a few seconds to calm himself down, Triple H gets up and slowly makes his way up the ramp as well, trailing behind Orton. One has to wonder what this means and whether the offer to join Legacy still exists for Triple H.

But that’s a story for another day, because the final focus of the second biggest pay per view of the year is of the new WWE Champion… John Morrison…

Pretty cool to go all-in right away and give John Morrison a shot on top! It's something WWE irl probably should have went with at one point.

I'm guessing HHH won't join Legacy, bit that Morrison vs. Orton vs. HHH may be covering the main events throughout 2009.

Also that was a great "start" with Danielson and Punk having a great one.

WWE Monday Night Raw
August 17th, 2009
Phoenix, Arizona

The show opened up with a video package, highlighting all of the action packed Raw side of last night’s Summerslam card. Of course, the moment that garners the most attention, Randy Orton’s reign of terror as WWE Champion has finally come to an end, and the hands of John Morrison…

***AIN’T NO MAKE BELIEVE***

Rivalling the ovation after his win last night as the biggest he’s ever received, the NEW WWE Champion, JOHN MORRISON steps through the curtain. It’s the same slow motion entrance, the only difference being now Morrison has the WWE Championship wrapped around his waist. Morrison really enjoys the moment, taking more than usual to reach the ring. Once he’s inside the ring, Morrison heads to the corner, climbing up the ropes and raising his beloved championship over his head. When he’s back down and in the centre of the ring, the champ pulls a microphone from his fur coat, waiting for the ovation to quiet so he can speak.

John Morrison: Years and years of hard work, blood, sweat, tears, being told I’m not good enough, all the setbacks, through it all I never stopped believing. So let me indulge myself for a moment when I say I can’t even begin to explain how good it feels to finally be champion. Now that I’m here, unlike our previous champion, I plan on treating this title with the respect and esteem it’s lineage deserves. I WILL be a fighting champion.

Big cheers for Morrison’s passionate speech, as he thinks about what’s next until…

***THE TIME IS NOW***

Whoa. It’s an unexpected interruption, which causes Morrison to cock is head, but JOHN CENA receives a tremendous pop as he makes his way out from the back. In typical Cena fashion, he gets the fans amped up on the ramp, before sprinting to and sliding into the ring. Cena puts both hands up in the ring, proclaiming his innocence, causing Morrison to adjust his on guard stance ever so slightly.

John Cena: Firstly, I’m sorry for the interruption. I know that probably makes you think I’m out here to throw shade at you but I’m not. Let me do this the right way, and start by saying congratulations on becoming the WWE Champion.

Another loud pop from the crowd, as Cena offers his hand to Morrison. The new champ accepts the handshake, demonstrating the mutual respect between the two competitors.

John Cena: I didn’t just come out here to wish you congratulations though, no, no, no no. You see, you winning this title does great things for me. Not only does it feel fresh, but it invigorates me because of the new opportunities sitting in front of me. Randy Orton continually dodged me for a rematch, but just like you said, I know you’ll do the right thing and be a fighting champion. That’s why I’m out here tonight. I’m out here to look you in your eyes, man to man, and challenge you to a WWE Championship match tonight!

EPIC reaction from the audience. It seems they are intrigued and Cena smirks. Even Morrison smirks, nodding his head, seemingly liking the idea, but before he can respond verbally…

***THIS FIRE BURNS***

We go three for three in terms of incredible ovations as the WWE Intercontinental Champion, CM PUNK gets adoration from the crowd. He drops down to one knee, taps his wrist, “IT’S PUMMELLING TIME”! Surveying both guys inside the ring, Punk doesn’t hesitate to join them, however he’s a little more stand offish than Cena, no handshakes being offered as he prepares to speak.

CM Punk: Whoa, whoa, the two of you just need to hold up.

The aggressive tone of Punk causes both Cena and Morrison to raise their eyebrows ever so slightly.

CM Punk: I can evaluate this situation fairly and say that Cena, you have a fair point, kind of. Orton did dodge you as champion, but he also dodged me. On top of that, I haven’t forgotten that before you went all big, dumb Golden Retriever and screwed up by trusting Orton, you weren’t the rightful number one contender, I WAS the rightful number one contender.

Mixed reaction but the antagonistic Punk pays no attention to the reaction, continuing to eye off both men.

CM Punk: We also need to look at what else has been happening on Raw during Orton’s title reign. While Orton dodged title defences, I certainly didn’t. I was putting the Intercontinental Title on the line whenever possible and making it just as prestigious as the WWE Title. Included in dare I say it my impressive run as Intercontinental Champion, is a rich history of winning against John Morrison in our last several matches.

Punk smirks, as JoMo looks a little agitated for the first time in this segment. He takes one solitary step towards Punk.

CM Punk: So champ, if you think about it, Cena hasn’t really done anything to earn a shot at the title, but I have. That’s why I’M out here, to challenge you to defend your title tonight against me.

This challenge also garners a positive response from the crowd, but before Morrison or Cena can react…

***VOICES***

Suddenly, the mood in the entire arena shifts. No longer is it all cheers and smiles, even the three men inside the ring immediately tense up. Stepping through the curtain accompanied by LEGACY, is the former WWE Champion RANDY ORTON. A face full of thunder, Orton stops at the top of the ramp, not silly enough to get inside the ring with three of his enemies. He also doesn’t waste any time.

Randy Orton: Let’s restore some order, shall we? Cena, Punk, your reasoning for title shots was nice and cute, but they simply don’t matter. The fact remains that I was screwed out of the WWE Title last night at Summerslam because of the mistake of Triple H. I was screwed out of the WWE Title because I went into the main event at less than one hundred percent because you, Cena, hurt me earlier in the night.

The fans boo the excuses and Morrison scoffs. Cena smirks a little though, taking pleasure in being part of making Orton miserable.

Randy Orton: Summerslam was a blip on the radar that I just want to forget, but regardless of that, I need to make an announcement. Neither Cena nor Punk will get a title shot tonight, because I’ve also spoken to Mike Adamle. I am cashing in my rematch clause TONIGHT!

With that, Orton’s music hits and he turns to leave, Legacy loyally following his every move. Meanwhile, both Punk and Cena look disappointed inside the ring, however Morrison no longer pays them attention, instead focusing on what’s to come tonight with Orton…

We head to the commentary position, where MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER confirm what just went down in the opening segment.

Michael Cole: We just heard it there from Randy Orton, and it’s coming through my earpiece as we speak. Randy Orton was speaking the truth, and tonight’s main event will be a rematch from last night’s Summerslam extravaganza. The new WWE Champion John Morrison will look to see if lightning strikes twice when he defends against Randy Orton.

Jerry Lawler: Beating Randy Orton once is a lifetime achievement, but doing it twice in two nights, this will be a daunting task for John Morrison.

Michael Cole: Also tonight, we’ll see Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio, the debut of Finlay and William Regal as a team on Raw, and Priceless will defend the World Tag Team Championships against Bryan Danielson and Paul London!

Jerry Lawler:
I can’t wait, Cole. A big night ahead, sprinkle in some puppies and this show will be an all timer.

On that note, Cole and Lawler send us to a break. When we return, the World Tag Team Titles will be on the line…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Upon returning from the break, we see RANDY ORTON walking backstage, looking quite stern. He approaches a stagehand, getting up real close and personal, intimidating the poor staff member.

Randy Orton: Listen carefully. When Triple H gets to the arena tonight, you let him know that I want to see him. Got it?

Stagehand: Y-yes sir…

Just like that, Orton backs away, not requiring any violence to get what he wants here…

Match One
World Tag Team Championship Match

Priceless (c) w/Mr. Kennedy defend against Bryan Danielson and Paul London

Due to the company they keep, Cody and Ted are pretty arrogant in the early stages, but it comes back to bite them. Both get a chance at Danielson to start the match, yet he turns out to be far to technically sound. He manages to take both men down to the mat and have his way with them. Eventually, a desperate DiBiase manages a thumb to the eye, but the blinded Danielson then just staggers back to his corner, tagging in London.

The pace of the match immediately quickens with London hurling DiBiase around with Arm Drags for fun. Rhodes tries to illegally intervene but gets hit with a Dropkick for his troubles. London starts ringing on the arm of DiBiase now, and we have a brief period where London and Danielson isolate Ted, working on the arm. Now they try a double team, as the challengers send DiBiase into the ropes… BUT TED DOESN’T COME BACK…

AS MR. KENNEDY TRIPS HIM UP AND PULLS HIM TO THE OUTSIDE FOR A REPRIEVE!!!

The fans boo the interference, with Ted bending down to put his hands on his knees, attempting to regroup. Danielson and London share some words with Kennedy, annoyed, when Cody sneaks into the ring, looking to attack London from behind. Before Cody can clobber London, Danielson somehow sees him with his peripherals and stops him with a right hand.

The challengers now send Cody bouncing off the ropes, and Kennedy doesn’t stop Rhodes from returning… SO THE CHALLENGERS NAIL CODY WITH A DOUBLE DROPKICK!!!

Grabbing at his jaw, Rhodes immediately rolls underneath the bottom rope and to the outside. All three members of Legacy are huddled together at ringside… STEREO TOPE SUICIDAS FROM DANIELSON AND LONDON TAKE OUT ALL THREE MEMBERS OF LEGACY!!!

Our fans erupt with a big time pop, as Danielson and London pump their fists in the air. With the challengers looking really impressive so far, we cut to a commercial break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Back from the break, the action has returned to the ring, where DiBiase is still in trouble. London is currently working on him, before London runs to bounce off the ropes to build some momentum… NO!!! NOW KENNEDY TRIPS UP LONDON, CAUSING HIM TO FALL FACE FIRST ONTO THE CANVAS!!!

The referee didn’t see it and doesn’t have time to react, as DiBiase has dragged the ref in the corner to have an argument with him. With the referee distracted, Kennedy drags London to the outside, stomping all over him and Rhodes runs around ringside to join in. Danielson ran around to break things up and KK quickly rolled London back inside, proclaiming his innocence the entire time.

Once London is back in the ring, the entire match is different. The tag champions now begin to slowly dissect London, isolating him from his corner. Of course, the champs follow the mentorship of Orton, meaning there not afraid to cheat to inflict further punishment also. They use their numbers game effectively also, providing Kennedy multiple windows to land some punches and choke London over the ropes.

Cody and Ted kept up with the quick tags and brutal beatdown, scoring several near falls in the process. London didn’t give up though and started to fight back. He manages to push DiBiase away from him, before running at Ted… Ted tries to catch London… BUT LONDON MEANUVERS INTO AN IMPRESSIVE WHEELBARROW BULLDOG!!!

It takes a few moments of recovery, but with the fans encouragement, London slowly starts crawling towards his corner. DiBiase crawls towards his own as well, but London reaches his corner first… HOT TAG TO DANIELSON!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY PULLED DANIELSON OFF OF THE APRON BEFORE THE TAG COULD BE MADE!!!

Just as London dived for the tag, Danielson’s hand disappears and no tag is made. The fans are furious as Ted tags in Cody, who quickly runs in and drags London out of his teams corner. Of course, right when London gets dragged away, a frustrated Danielson is able to climb back onto the apron. Whilst Rhodes keeps a hold of London’s foot, London hobbles to his feet, maintaining balance… BEFORE CONNECTING WITH AN ENZUIGURI!!!

For the second time in just a few moments, London struggles towards his corner… THIS TIME HE MAKES THE HOT TAG!!!

Danielson eagerly steps through the ropes, but before he can do anything… THE REFEREE CHARGES ACROSS THE RING AND DEMANDS DANIELSON GET BACK ON THE APRON!!!

DIBIASE HAD ILLEGALLY ENTERED THE RING, DISTRACTING THE REF, WHO IN TURN DID NOT SEE THAT THE TAG WAS MADE!!!

A riot is about to start from the agitated fans, as Danielson argues with the ref. Whilst the ref has his hands full with Danielson, KENNEDY USES THE RING ROPES TO CHOKE LONDON!!!

The champs then slowly drag London back to the centre of the ring, before helping him to his feet. They land a few punches, before sending London off the ropes… BUT LONDON COMES BACK WITH A DOUBLE DROPSAULT!!!

Both champions are down, the referee is in perfect position, AND LONDON FINALLY MAKES THE OFFICIAL HOT TAG TO DANIELSON!!!

Both Cody and Ted are in the ring, but Danielson doesn’t care. He tees off on both members of the champs with big body kicks and European Uppercuts. With both members of the champions dazed, Danielson turns his attention towards DiBiase, NAILING HIM WITH A STEP UP GAMENGURI!!!

As Danielson gets back to his feet, Rhodes tries to attack but fails. Danielson meets him with right hands and is relentless, backing Cody into the corner. Danielson then backtracks to the outside side before sprinting forward… CORNER RUNNING FOREARM!!!

The impact of the blow causes Cody to stagger out of the corner… GERMAN SUPLEX!!!

DANIELSON MAINTAINS THE BRIDGE…1…2…NO!!! CODY JUST MANAGES TO KICK OUT!!!

Keeping a grip on Cody, Danielson looks to bridge over… RIGHT INTO THE CATTLE MUTILATION!!!

NO!!! TED STOMPS ALL OVER DANIELSON TO BREAK IT UP!!!

A vicious DiBiase keeps stomping away, trying to squash Danielson like a bug. He then drags Danielson to his feet… DIBIASE CONNECTS WITH DREAM STREET!!!

Ted makes his way to his teams corner… AS CODY SOMEHOW CRAWLS ON TOP OF DANIELSON FOR THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! LONDON PULLS CODY OFF, CLINGING ONTO HIS FOOT FROM OUTSIDE OF THE RING!!!

DiBiase is furious, immediately storming back into the ring as London climbs onto the apron. Cody is back up to, so from the apron, London takes turns, peppering both men with some stiff forearms. Once the champs are dazed enough to not return for another shot, London ascends to the top rope… DIVING CROSSBODY TAKES OUT BOTH OF LONDON’S OPPONENTS!!!

Full of adrenaline, London is up quickly, but maybe a little more surprisingly, so is Ted. DiBiase approaches London… BUT LONDON CATCHES HIM WITH A STEP UP ENZUIGURI!!!

Grabbing at the back of his head, DiBiase rolls to the outside to regroup… WHEN LONDON TAKES HIM OUT WITH AN EPIC FLIPPING SENTON!!!

As both those men remain on the outside, inside the ring, Danielson has perched himself up on the top rope. Cody slowly battles to his feet… ONLY FOR A FLYING DROPKICK TO TAKE HIM BACK DOWN!!!

On the outside, London slowly starts working to his feet… ONLY FOR KENNEDY TO RUN THROUGH HIM WITH A KNEE LIFT!!!

The heat is massive for more interference from Kennedy. London somehow rolls into the ring, albeit extremely hurt. Meanwhile, KENNEDY SUDDENLY GETS ATTACKED WITH A BARRAGE OF RIGHT HANDS AND FOREARMS…

FROM CM PUNK!!!

Punk has had enough of his long time rival interfering, continuing to land shots. Kennedy tries to defend himself but is overwhelmed by Punk, who forces him up the ramp and through the curtain. With the additional parties at ringside having left, Cody has managed to get on top of Danielson in the ring… CODY LOOKS FOR THE CROSS RHODES!!!

NO!!! DANIELSON PUSHES CODY OFF OF HIM…

STRAIGHT INTO A SUPERKICK FROM LONDON!!!

Sensing trouble, DiBiase gets back on the apron to intervene… BUT LONDON KNOCKS DIBIASE OFF THE APRON WITH A DROPKICK!!!

Allowing Danielson to stalk Cody inside of the ring, who eventually reaches his feet… DRAGON SUPLEX…

DANIELSON MAINTAINS THE BRIDGE…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Bryan Danielson and Paul London @ 18:38

What a moment here on Monday Night Raw, we’ve got NEW World Tag Team Champions. Danielson and London are presented the titles by the referee, and they have a BIG celebration in the ring, enjoying the achievement and the adulation of the crowd. On the ramp, Priceless back away, looking extremely pissed off, but that’s not the story here. The story is we have new tag champs, and that within a couple of weeks, Legacy have gone from holding all the gold to having none…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Upon returning from the break, we see the pensive figure of TRIPLE H, taking a deep breath, readying himself. He’s standing outside of Legacy’s locker room and he then walks in, attempting to exude confidence. RANDY ORTON, MR. KENNEDY, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE all shoot Hunter a dirty look. All he can do his nod with an accepting look on his face.

Triple H: Look, I get it. You all probably hate me right now, especially you, Randy. I’m here to apologise for what happened last night.

Nobody’s expression softens, until Orton’s does. He gets to his feet and approaches H, placing a friendly yet assertive hand on his shoulder.

Randy Orton: I appreciate you being a man about it and coming to apologise to our faces. Everyone makes a mistake once and a while, it happens. But if it happened again, don’t take my kindness for weakness, it will be a problem.

HHH knows better than answering back, simply offering a subtle nod, demonstrating his understanding. Orton removes his hand from H’s shoulder.

Randy Orton: Now I’ve got a WWE Championship match to prepare for, but I am tired of guessing. No more stalling, I demand that by the end of the night, Legacy knows where you stand, Hunter. You will make a decision on joining Legacy or not.

Not waiting for a response, Orton then turns and leaves the room, leaving ‘The Game’ with a lot to ponder. Meanwhile, Cody, DiBiase and Kennedy all continue to shoot daggers at Trips, creating quite the awkward dynamic…

Later in the night, we got a video package for the next PPV…

Later on in the night, we get a video package detailing the tragic night of Batista at Summerslam…

After VLADIMIR KOZLOV defeated BATISTA, Big Dave was left to lick his wounds when RANDY ORTON appeared. Wanting to wipe another enemy chasing his title, Orton attacked, nailing a title shot to the skull, an Elevated DDT from the apron to the concrete floor, and an RKO onto an open chair.

The deadly Orton looked to finish off his devious assault with a Punt kick, but as he was lining Batista up, JOHN CENA ran down and made the save.

Right after the video package, we get some thoughts from MICHAEL COLE and JERRY LAWLER.

Michael Cole: We just saw the horrific actions of Randy Orton last night, the type of actions that justify my feeling of relief that he’s not the WWE Champion anymore. I can only imagine what would have happened to Batista if John Cena didn’t intervene. The word from the doctors and numerous tests are that Batista has suffered a severe concussion as well as some neck damage. An official timeline is yet to be released but he will be out for some time.

Jerry Lawler: I know Batista’s the focus here and so it should be my thoughts go out to him. I did want to touch on something else though. The way Vladimir Kozlov and Randy Orton crossed paths, sharing that momentarily look, that worries me. It opens the door for the possibility of some kind of alliance between the two. That spells danger for a lot of us, although it won’t affect the WWE Title match tonight, because due to media commitments overseas, Kozlov is not here tonight.

Speaking of the main event, our commentators then hype the fact that the main event is coming up next…

We get the old trusty split screen, showing the new WWE Champion JOHN MORRISON walking don a hallway. RANDY ORTON walks down another one, no Legacy with him, both men look ready to go. Morrison/Orton for the WWE Title is coming up NEXT…

Match Five

WWE Championship Match
John Morrison (c) defends against Randy Orton

After the loss last night, Orton isn’t as sure as himself as he usually is, approaching Morrison tentatively. They engage in a Collar and Elbow Tie Up and some basic wrestling in the early stages, and Morrison is able to repeatedly take Orton down with a Side Headlock. The frustration within Orton builds, as he slaps the mat in frustration, before fighting his way back to his feet. Once up, Morrison still won’t relent on his grip, so Orton rakes the eyes of Morrison to break free illegally.

The referee looks to admonish Orton, but he simply steps around the ref, and immediately begins pummelling Morrison. For the first time, we see some of the fury losing the WWE Title has made Orton feel. He relentlessly and viciously attacks Morrison’s head and neck, almost salivating at the mouth as he does so. Refusing to backdown though, after receiving some violence, Morrison retaliates with some big forearms to Orton’s jaw, catching him off guard.

Orton stumbles backwards from the shots, before looking to defend up high. The champ then switches it up, hitting body kicks to Orton, kicking his chest repeatedly until Orton tumbles through the middle rope and to the outside. Getting even more frustrated, Orton immediately leaps back onto the apron… BUT MORRISON CATCHES ORTON WITH A STANDING DROPKICK!!!

The impressive athleticism gets a pop from the fans, as Orton lands down on the concrete floor with a thud. After a few moments, Orton works back to his feet, but Morrison keeps an eye on him the entire time. Morrison starts running across the ring… CORKSCREW PLANCHA TAKES DOWN ORTON!!!

Cheers from the crowd fill the arena, as both men remain down on the floor after the high risk move. Morrison begins to stir, working his way up, as we cut to our final break of the evening.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

It’s more of the same when we return, with Morrison on top of Orton. The actions back in the ring but when Morrison overextends and misses with a Clothesline… ORTON NAILS HIS INVERTED HEADLOCK BACKBREAKER!!!

The move jolts the back and neck of Morrison and allows Orton to regain control. Similarly to the beginnings of the match, the former champion focuses on the current champions head and neck area. He dominates Morrison now and just because he’s vile, Orton’s not afraid to cheat to inflict a little extra punishment either. Once again, Morrison shows tremendous resilience, absorbing everything Orton throws at him, before returning serve.

Morrison lands some more forearms and kicks, using his speed advantage to beat Orton to the punch. Morrison stays on the attack until Orton is forced to back into the corner… Morrison runs in… MORRISON HITS HIS VERSION OF THE PUNK HIGH KNEE IN THE CORNER!!!

Orton stumbles out of the corner… RIGHT INTO AN STO OVER MORRISON’S KNEE!!!

With Orton down, the champ starts thinking about his next big move. He slowly steps out onto the apron, hands grasping the top rope. When Orton gets to his feet, Morrison looks to pull himself through the middle ropes to land a Shoulder Block, but Orton stops him with a knee to the head. Conveniently, Morrison’s body now hands precariously over the middle rope, so Orton grabs his head… ELEVATED DDT CONNECTS!!!

Orton drags the prone body of Morrison to the centre of the ring… ORTON HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! MORRISON SHOOTS A SHOULDER OFF THE MAT!!!

Taking his time, as methodical as ever, Orton slowly brings Morrison to his feet, when Morrison explodes, shoving Orton in the chest. Orton backs up a couple of steps, before looking to come back… MORRISON GETS A STEP UP ENZUIGURI OUT OF NOWHERE!!!

Orton staggers wildly but somehow maintains his balance and remains on his feet… MORRISON JUMPS TO THE ROPES… SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI!!!

The repeated trauma to the head is enough to cause Orton to collapse to his hands and knees. Seeing this, Morrison trots over… MORRISON WITH A LA MAGISTRAL CRADLE…1…2…NO!!! ORTON KICKS OUT!!!

Both men bounce to their feet, running on adrenaline and Orton hits a brutal European Uppercut. Morrison shows some grit, landing one of his own and the two men get into a European Uppercut war. The blows continue, until Orton lands a big shot… AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWS IT WITH THE RKO!!!

NO!!! MORRISON PUSHES ORTON AWAY…

MORRISON THEN LEAPS ONTO ORTON’S SHOULDERS… TAKING HIM DOWN WITH A VICTORY ROLL…1…2…NO!!! ORTON KICKED OUT!!!

Both men scramble to their feet yet again, but Morrison is the quicker of the two, taking Orton’s head off with a SPINNING HEEL KICK!!!

FOLLOWED BY A STANDING SHOOTING STAR PRESS!!!

MORRISON STAYS ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! ORTON GETS A SHOULDER UP THIS TIME!!!

Morrison is up first this time, running his hands through his hair in despair. He slowly helps Orton to his feet… ONLY TO HIT THE MOONLIGHT DRIVE!!!

NO!!! ORTON TWISTS OUT…

AND IN ONE SMOOTH MOTION… RKO!!!

NO!!! MORRISON PUSHES ORTON AWAY!!!

Orton quickly turns around to face Morrison again… SUPERKICK!!!

NO!!! RANDY DUCKS… AND MORRISON JUST STOPS HIMSELF FROM KICKING THE REF’S HEAD OFF!!!

BUT THEN ORTON SHOVES MORRISON DIRECTLY INTO THE REFEREE ANYWAY!!!

It’s a dastardly tactic from Orton as the referee remains down after the clash of heads. Meanwhile, he stalks Morrison, who shakes the cobwebs and then turns back towards the centre of the ring… RKO!!!

NO!!! THIS TIME MORRISON THROWS ORTON ACROSS THE RING… SENDING HIM CRASHING AND BURNING!!!

After the initial shock wears off, Orton works to his feet… BUT MORRISON NAILS HIM WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE HEAD!!!

Somehow, Orton falls backwards but remains on his feet as he bounces against the ropes, keeping him up. The momentum of the ropes sends him staggering into a SUPERKICK!!!

Morrison drops down after hitting the move to, holding his head where he collided with the referee. Both men are struggling and the referee is down… UNTIL ORTON GETS SLID A STEEL CHAIR FROM SOMEBODY AT RINGSIDE…

IT’S TRIPLE H!!!

The fans boo loudly as both men get back up in the ring, but Morrison has no idea… CRACK!!! ORTON NAILS HIM WITH A CHAIR SHOT TO THE SKULL!!!

Morrison stumbles, before almost standing on the spot drunkenly… UNTIL A SECOND CHAIR SHOT TO THE SKULL TAKES HIM DOWN!!!

Orton looks and notices the referee starting to stir, so he quickly throws the chair out of the ring. After taking a deep breath, ORTON DROPS DOWN AND PINS MORRISON…1…2…NO!!! MORRISON SOMEHOW GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Not losing his temper this time, Orton steadies himself before just waiting for Morrison to get up, and when he does… RKO… FINALLY CONNECTS!!!

ORTON HOOKS BOTH LEGS…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Randy Orton @ 18:50

The air in the arena disappears before the match result gets engulfed in heat. Standing tall, exhausted, but feeling good about himself as the ref gives him the WWE Championship is Randy Orton. Just twenty four hours after his reign of terror ended, Orton is the champ again. He raises the title above his head, whilst all Morrison can do is roll to the floor.

LEGACY, CODY RHODES, MR. KENNEDY and TED DIBIASE all come out smiling and applauding their leader. They get inside the ring, greeting Orton during his celebration, before turning their attention towards Triple H. Hunter just nods at them, but Orton invites him into the ring.

H and Orton stand face to face for a moment, the fans wondering what’s going to happen next. Orton then holds out his hand and asks, “ARE YOU IN”.

After surveying the fans and listening to the very mixed reaction… TRIPLE H SHAKES ORTON’S HAND!!!

Orton looks back at his Legacy stablemates as if to say I told you so. The celebration continues, as Orton and H cement their new partnership with a hug, which the fans despise.

Kennedy gets Orton on his shoulders and eerily similar to something we’ve seen before, Cody, Ted and H shoot Orton the thumbs up. KK eventually lets Orton get back down and the celebration continued, until Orton retrieved a mic.

Randy Orton: Tonight is what we like to call a good night for Legacy. After getting past the minor roadblock and regaining my title, I’m back to where I need to be. This, with Triple H by our side, was the plan all along.

It’s all smiles in the ring, as they ignore the trash from the fans.

Randy Orton: Now Hunter, there’s something I need to fill you in on from a Legacy point of view. It’s customary to celebrate the achievements of a new member so without further ado, let’s all give it up for the newest Legacy member… ‘The Game’… TRIPLE H!!!

Heat from the fans, but Orton and Priceless applaud Hunter, until Kennedy comes from behind and hoists H onto his shoulders. Again, it’s playful, KK parades Triple H around the ring, with the remainder of Legacy all shooting Trips thumbs up. The crowd continue to give major heat to the super group, until Orton slowly raises the mic to is mouth, a twinkle in his eye.

Randy Orton: DROP HIM!!!

KENNEDY IMMEDIATELY FALLS BACKWARDS… NAILING TRIPLE H WITH AN ELECTRIC CHAIR DROP!!!

A furious Orton immediately pounces on H, landing punch after punch. Unlike the methodical nature Orton usually operates with, this looks like an Orton who has completely lost control.

Priceless and Kennedy begin stomping all over Triple H as well, until the group brings him up… KENNEDY NAILS TRIPLE H WITH THE MIC CHECK!!!

Orton barks some instructions at Priceless, and now it’s their turn to bring H back up… MILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT!!!

Triple H is by far done, but Orton shakes his head, refusing to let it go. A mixed reaction now coming from the fans, as Legacy slowly pull H to his feet, holding him in position… ORTON SMASHES THE TITLE BELT ACROSS THE SKULL OF TRIPLE H!!!

H flops to the canvas, as Orton continues to eye him off.

Michael Cole: What a heinous attack this is by Randy Orton and his comrades, and this is to a man who we thought was safe. All I know is nobody will save Triple H after how he’s aided Orton and Legacy all summer.

The rest of Legacy continue to hold H up, allowing Orton TO SLAP TRIPLE H REPEATEDLY!!!

Orton finds himself the mic once again…

Randy Orton: Hunter, THIS is Evolution…

And there it is, a reference to Hunter turning on him in the past, and this is clearly feedback. With that, Orton instructs Legacy to hoist Triple H back to his feet…

RKO TO TRIPLE H!!!

Orton retrieves his title belt and raises it above his head, standing tall with his buddies. Orton stands over a BLOODIED Triple H, enjoying the moment, the payback, the retribution, all on his mind, years in the making. The final shot we see is of Orton raising the title above his head, ready to take us into a new era…

Just wanted to take a moment for a bit of a public service announcement. Trying to keep this thing moving, but it's likely that with my second child being born a week ago, probably going to be slow for a while, and I most likely won't have my usual presence around the section in terms of feedback. Will most likely be this way until June when I go back to work, but will keep plugging away at this in the meantime when I can...

WWE Monday Night Raw
August 24th, 2009
Las Vegas, Nevada

After the opening video package, we get the splendid pyro display that nobody does better than the WWE. The cameras pan around the arena as a cloud of smoke slowly rises to the arenas ceiling, the fans making a lot of noise. Excitement is in the air, when…

***VOICES***

There’s an initial pop, which quickly disintegrates into heat when LEGACY walk out from the back. The conglomerate consists of WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON, MR. KENNEDY, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE. Their spirits look to be high as they saunter down the ramp, stepping inside the ring, where their leader, Randy Orton obtains a mic from a member of the ringside crew.

Randy Orton: After the slightest blip on the radar, just like that, order is restored. I am once again the WWE Champion.

Major heat from the fans, which draws the slightest tinge of a smirk from Orton. The rest of Legacy shoot the crowd dirty looks.

Randy Orton: Summerslam will quickly be forgotten as a non-event, as will John Morrison, but that’s not even what I’m here to talk about. I’m here to talk about the ending to last week’s Monday Night Raw. I’m here to talk about how I waited five years to do what I did last week. I moved on but I never forgot how I got kicked out of Evolution, so once Triple H was back on Raw and I was on top, it was written in the stars. It became part of my destiny; I knew what I was going to do.

Orton let’s his explanation sink in, the fans listening intently.

Randy Orton: The best thing about last week is that well we decimated Triple H; nobody got in our way. Triple H has spent so much of his career tearing people down, and in recent times, trying to get in our good books that now he’s alone and friendless. It wasn’t a coincidence that I took out Batista at Summerslam either, I’m obviously very familiar with their friendship history, and now nobody can stop me.

The boos come from the fans again, as Orton reveals more of his plan. The champ isn’t fussed by the reaction, whilst the rest of Legacy remain stoic.

Randy Orton: That’s all I really wanted to get off my chest and make sure everybody in the back received the message; NOBODY can stop me. And just because my last title reign was briefly interrupted, it doesn’t change anything. The same rules apply, and yes, John Cena that means you will never again face me in any kind of one on one match for the WWE Championship.

Crowd isn’t happy with that announcement as Orton now motions for Kennedy and DiBiase to follow him.

Randy Orton: Ken, Ted and myself are going to head to the back now, but young Cody here is about to bring some more gold back to Legacy. Good luck, Cody, I look forward to seeing that WWE Intercontinental Title around your waist.

The trio share a good luck handshake with Cody, before leaving the ring. Standing alone, Cody bounces off the ropes, limbering up, as we cut to our first break of the evening…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, after the abrupt start to the show, MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER manage to find the time to run through the card for tonight. Outside of the IC Title match coming up next, we will see CHRIS JERICHO teaming up with the WWE Champion RANDY ORTON to go up against the team of the former champion JOHN MORRISON and REY MYSTERIO…

Match One
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
CM Punk (c) defends against Cody Rhodes

The two men engage in some pure wrestling in the early stages, showing there’s a mutual respect as they navigate through mat work. Being the more experienced of the two, Punk is the aggressor, leading the exchanges, but Cody shows he might be ‘the guy’ one day, able to reverse and challenge a lot of Punk’s attempts. The two kept trading and spinning out of Side Headlocks, the battle becoming one of wills, until Punk breaks it, beginning to throw hard body kicks at his challenger.

Cody tries to fight back with right hands, but Punk’s kicks overwhelm Cody, and with Cody crossing his arms to cover his chest… PUNK GOES HIGH AND LANDS THE ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO THE HEAD!!!

The shot sends Rhodes stumbling backwards, where he trips over the ropes, falling through the middle ones and to the outside. It’s almost commercial break time, folks, so Punk measures Cody, who slowly works to his feet. Punk bounces off the ropes, builds momentum… TOPE SUICIDA!!!

NO!!! CODY HOPS ON THE APRON AND HITS A FOREARM TO THE FACE OF PUNK!!!

The blow stops Punk in his tracks, causing him to stumble inside the ring, whilst Cody uses the ropes to propel himself in the air… CODY TAKES PUNK DOWN WITH A SUNSET FLIP…1…2…NO!!! PUNK BREAKS THE COUNT BY KICKING CODY IN THE HEAD!!!

Both men scramble to their feet, although Cody leans against the ropes, feeling dazed. The IC Champ charges towards Cody… PUNK CLOTHESLINES RHODES OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

This gets big cheers from the fans and for the second time tonight, Punk measures Cody. This time when the challenger gets to his feet, Punk runs across the ring… TAKING OUT CODY WITH A TOPE SUICIDA!!!

Big time pop comes from the fans as Punk gets back to his feet. He’s fired up and in control as we cut to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

When we return from the break, the tide has turned and Cody is in charge inside the ring. He’s working over the champ, mainly targeting the back and mid-section. Much like his mentor, Cody isn’t afraid to cheat to maintain the advantage, actually doing so quite often. Eventually, Punk fights his way back, landing some right hands, but Cody gets a knee to the gut to cut Punk off from building some momentum.

Cody then looks for a right hand, but Punk blocks it and retaliates with a few of his own. Punk then sends Cody crashing into the corner, before following in… HIGH KNEE IN THE CORNER!!!

VINTAGE PUNK AS HE FOLLOWS UP WITH A BULLDOG!!!

Despite the offense, Punk remains down for awhile after this, feeling the effects of Cody’s heat period earlier. Both men struggle to their feet at roughly the same time, but when they meet in the centre of the ring, Punk gets the better of things. He tees off with several big body kicks, the last one sending Rhodes crashing down to the canvas. Punk steps out onto the apron, waiting for Cody to get up… SPRINGBOARD CLOTHESLINE!!!

The landing is an awkward one for Punk, he immediately grimaces and grabs at his midsection once he hits the canvas. He takes a moment or to longer than usual, but Punk battles back to his feet… AND THEN HOISTS CODY ON HIS SHOULDERS… GO TO SLEEP!!!

NO!!! CODY RAKES THE EYES…

AND THEN SLITHERS DOWN INTO A SILVER SPOON DDT!!!

AN URGENT CODY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! PUNK GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

The urgency remains with Cody as he senses he could be about to win his first singles gold. Rhodes grabs a hold of Punk, dragging him up… CROSS RHODES!!!

NO!!! PUNK BREAKS FREE AND GETS BEHIND CODY…

PUNK GETS AN O’CONNOR ROLL…1…2…NO!!! CODY JUST ESCAPED!!!

Both men scramble to their feet, but Punk is up first. Cody only makes it to one knee, when Punk charges… SHINING WIZARD!!!

NO!!! CODY DUCKS…

AND CODY SNATCHES AN INSIDE CRADLE…1…2…NO!!! NOW IT’S PUNK’S TURN TO JUST ESCAPE!!!

Yet again, both men scramble to their feet… BUT PUNK CATCHES CODY WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

A stunned Rhodes staggers on the spot, so Punk gets him up on the shoulders… GO TO SLEEP!!!

PUNK HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winner: CM Punk @ 16:54

After yet another hard fought title defence, Punk celebrates in the ring. The fans cheer his victory loudly, with Punk exhausted but smiling as he raises his hands above his head. As Punk plays to the fans, the referee fetches the Intercontinental title belt, but before the ref can give it to Punk… THE BELT GETS SNATCHES OUT OF THE REFEREES HANDS…

AND PUNK GETS NAILED IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH THE TITLE…

BY MR. KENNEDY!!!

The heat is enormous as Kennedy continues to stomp all over the champion. When he relents, with a look of hatred on his face, Kennedy brings Punk up… KENNEDY DROPS PUNK WITH A MIC CHECK!!!

Standing over Punk, basking in the boos from the fans, Kennedy raises the IC Title in the air. He then drops it over Punk’s chest, getting a mic instead.

Mr. Kennedy: I want my title back, Punk. Consider this a challenge to a match at Unforgiven!

Whoa. Some big news from Kennedy, as Cody now shares a fist bump with him, having recovered from his own match with Punk.

The two then head to the back, leaving Punk laying. The question remains; will the champ accept Kennedy’s challenge?

At the interview set in the back, KELLY KELLY is standing by with the man who’s twenty four hour reign as WWE Champion ended last week, JOHN MORRISON. KK looks a little awkward whilst Morrison doesn’t seem in all that flash of a mood either.

Kelly Kelly: John Morrison, thank you for your time. Obviously a lot on your mind, including earning your way to another WWE Championship match after last week. You tag with Rey Mysterio to face the WWE Champion Randy Orton and Chris Jericho later on tonight. I want to get your thoughts on the match, but I also wanted to ask for your thoughts on what happened last week between Triple H and Orton.

Clearly not in the mood, Morrison sighs.

John Morrison: Tonight, I’ll do battle in the match I’ve been put in by Mike Adamle, and I’m going to beat Randy Orton. That will make it undeniable that I deserve another title shot. As for Triple H, he deserved what he got. I’m no fan of Orton, but as far as I’m concerned, when it comes to Triple H, he’s the worthless loser who cost me my WWE Title last week.

Kelly is a little taken aback by the intensity from JoMo, as he looks deep into her eyes for a moment, before leaving. KK then directs the broadcast to a commercial break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Later on in the night, a pre-taped interview recorded earlier in the week at WWE Headquarters aired. The interview is conducted by MICHAEL COLE, and the guest is none other than JOHN CENA.

Michael Cole: Firstly, thank you so much for your time today, John. Some media commitments mean you won’t be at Monday Night Raw this week, but I really wanted the opportunity to pick your brain. What did John Morrison winning the WWE Championship at Summerslam, and then losing it back to Randy Orton the next night on Raw mean to you?

Cena looks very earnest, taking a breath.

John Cena: Watching him since he debuted and come up, a part of me was admittedly proud of John Morrison, and his incredible accomplishment. Beating Randy Orton is no easy feat. Another part of me was envious, but above all else, I was excited by the doors this win opened for me. No matter what Orton says, and I’m sure he’ll have plenty to say, but this is a new title reign for him. That means all the old stipulations, including the one where I can have a title shot as long as Orton is champion is gone. Now with the door open, I guarantee that I will earn a shot at Orton and the WWE Title.

The intensity radiates off Cena, jaw clenched, as serious as can be. Cole takes a beat before asking the next question.

Michael Cole: You were at Monday Night Raw last week, which of course saw the shocking ending where Legacy turned on Triple H and mercilessly took him out. And that was after they had been courting Triple H and he finally agreed to join Legacy. Having quite the history with both Orton and Triple H, what are your thoughts?

Cena smirks, eyes going comically wide, demonstrating that he was completely surprised by what happened.

John Cena: Man, I shouldn’t be surprised after all the things Orton has done in the past, but I didn’t expect this. Not at all. The attack was heinous, but I don’t feel sorry for Triple H. I gave this guy so many chances over the summer, to come over to the good and help dethrone Legacy. Triple H turned his back on everyone, and now everybody is supposed to feel sorry for him because he’s being targeted by Legacy. Nah, not me, I doubt I’ll give Triple H the benefit of the doubt again.

Just like that, Michael Cole thanks Cena for his time. The two shake hands and the segment ends as the show heads to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Later in the night, KELLY KELLY was at the interview set, having caught up with the WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CM PUNK.

Kelly Kelly: Ladies and gentlemen, as you can see my guest at this time is the WWE Intercontinental Champion, CM Punk. Erm, Mister Punk, I have to ask for your thoughts on Triple H falling vict-…

CM Punk: Let me cut you off right there, Kelly. I can’t make this any clearer. No I don’t trust or like Triple H. As far as I’m concerned, he’s a piece of (bleeped) shit (unbleeped). Sure, he was the victim last week, but he’s done the same thing countless times to others, including Randy Orton. Who’s to say he wasn’t trying to infiltrate Legacy to do it again? Triple H doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Pretty strong words from the always outspoken Punk, who doesn’t seem to be in the best of moods.

Kelly Kelly: Thanks for those words. One more question if I may, you were attacked after your match tonight by Mr. Kennedy, who has challenged you to a rematch for your Intercontinental Title. Do you have an answer to that challenge?

Still looking irritated, Punk nods, confirming he has an answer ready to go.

CM Punk: My answer shouldn’t surprise to many people. I accept Mr. Kennedy’s challenge for Unforgiven. He didn’t need to do what he did tonight, he could have just asked like a man, so now just like Triple H did, he’ll suffer the ramifications of his actions. At Unforgiven, I’m going to beat the (bleeped) shit (unbleeped) out of him.

With that, Punk steps away, allowing Kelly to send us to another break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

After the break, we get reminded that we’ve got a PPV coming up soon, folks…

Towards the end of the night, it was time for the main event…

Match Five
Chris Jericho and Randy Orton w/Ted DiBiase vs. John Morrison and Rey Mysterio

Not necessarily highlighted in this BTB so far, but Jericho and Mysterio have been feuding within this timeline up until now. They start things off and much like their matches in 2009, have a pretty fun highflyer versus technician style exchange. Starting off strong, Rey gets the better of Jericho in the early stages, until Orton came in illegally and clobbered Rey from behind. Fuming after their recent matches over the WWE Title, Morrison came in like a house on fire and used straight right hands. It was less flashy than usual offense from Morrison as he battered Orton, until A CLOTHESLINE OVER THE TOP ROPE SENT ORTON TUMBLING TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ring, an embarrassed Jericho charged at Rey, only to fall victim to a Drop Toe Hold. Jericho lands awkwardly, draped over the middle rope, as Rey bounces off the opposite ropes… 619!!!

NO!!! JERICHO SLIDES TO THE FLOOR TO AVOID THE HOLD AND CATCH A BREATHER!!!

He meets up with Orton, both men struggling… WHEN MORRISON COMES FROM NOWHERE AND TAKES THEM BOTH OUT WITH A CORKSCREW PLANCHA!!!

The big time move gets a big time pop from the fans. Morrison works to his feet, Mysterio applauding him from inside the ring, as we cut to our final commercials of the evening.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

We return from the break to identify that it has been more of the same during the break, with Mysterio and Morrison in complete control of Orton. The WWE Champion remains in trouble here, until Morrison bounces off the ropes to build momentum, but Jericho leans over and tugs at Morrison’s hair. JoMo turns around and pops Jericho in the jaw with a right hand, but the distraction allows Orton to pounce with the INVERTED CHINLOCK BACKBREAKER!!!

Just like that, Morrison is down and this begins the heel teams heat period of the match. Orton and Jericho work together rather smoothly, keeping him down by focusing on his head and neck mainly. Of course, as usual with my heels, they’re not afraid to bend the rules to maintain the advantage either. The dissection of Morrison continued until Orton sent him into the corner with an Irish Whip. Orton charged after Morrison; however Morrison gets a boot up, connecting to the jaw of the champion.

The blow sends Orton staggering backwards, allowing Morrison the opportunity to springboard off the ropes… SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI CONNECTS!!!

The flashy move gets a huge pop from the fans as both men remain down. Unlike their epic battles over the last eight days, this week Morrison and Orton have partners. Both men slowly crawl towards their respective corners, and both men make the tags. Jericho stepped in full of confidence off the tag from Orton, but the fresh Mysterio runs rings around him, keeping him off balance with his amazing lucha stuff.

Despite still being a little loopy, Orton tries to stop Rey, but Rey has his way with the champ as well. With Mysterio looking incredible, he heads to the top rope as Orton and Jericho help each other to their feet… CROSSBODY OFF THE TOP TAKES OUT BOTH MEN!!!

Jericho and Orton scramble to get Mysterio off of them. Orton gets to his feet, albeit backing against the ropes… MORRISON COMES THROUGH WITH A CACTUS CLOTHESLINE TAKING HIMSELF AND ORTON OVER THE TOP AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

This leaves Jericho and Rey, the hated rivals inside of the ring. A furious Jericho charges at Mysterio, but Rey catches him with a Drop Toe Hold. Jericho lands with his upper body draped over the middle rope, so Rey bounces off the opposite ropes… 619!!!

NO!!! JERICHO CATCHES REY BY THE LEGS!!!

Showing incredible strength, Jericho works to his feet, in essence, lifting Rey in the air by his legs. As Jericho looks to adjust Rey’s positioning… MYSTERIO FLOWS INTO A FLYING HEADSCISSORS!!!

Both men are up rather quickly after the exchange, meeting in the centre of the ring. Mysterio leaps high into the air… HURRICANRANA!!!

NO!!! JERICHO CATCHES REY AGAIN…

AND THIS TIME STEPS RIGHT INTO THE WALLS OF JERICHO!!!

Jericho wastes no time, arching as far back as he can, applying as much pressure as possible. Mysterio’s screams split through the gaps in his mask, filling the arena… WHEN MORRISON COMES FROM NOWHERE AND BREAKS IT UP WITH A FLYING SHOTGUN DROPKICK FROM THE TOP ROPE!!!

Morrison gets right back up to his feet, dragging Jericho up in the process. JoMo tees off with right hands, before sending Jericho into the corner. Morrison charges in after Jericho, connecting with the corner knee. With Jericho on dream street, Morrison places Jericho in a seated position on the top rope. Stepping away, Morrison motions for Mysterio, who climbs up to the top with Jericho… FRANKENSTEINER FROM THE TOP ROPE!!!

MYSTERIO HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! ORTON MANAGES TO BREAK UP THE COUNT!!!

Frustrated, Morrison immediately attacks Orton pounding away at him, but the champ gets a hold of Morrison’s waist band, and uses it to pull him through the middle rope and to the outside. The veteran tactic from Orton leaves Mysterio with two men to deal with, however with Orton still on his knees, Rey lands a Dropkick. The blow is enough to send Orton rolling underneath the bottom rope and onto the apron.

Turning away from Orton, Mysterio spots Jericho stumbling to his feet, and Dropkicks him in the back! Unfortunately for Jericho, he lands in that dreaded position yet again, having his upper body draped over the middle rope. As Rey thinks about dialling it up, with the referee busy with inside the ring action, Morrison works his way to his feet on the outside… ONLY FOR TED DIBIASE TO RUN THROUGH HIM WITH A CLOTHESLINE!!!

Inside the ring, Rey runs off the ropes… 619 CONNECTS!!!

Jericho crashes to the canvas, and Mysterio wastes no time… SPRINGBOARD SPLASH!!!

REY STAYS ON TOP FOR THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

NO!!! THE REFEREE DOESN’T COUNT!!!

The fans boo and Mysterio gets up, confused. The referee explains that Jericho isn’t the legal man, because when Jericho was set up for the 619, Orton made a blind tag. Suddenly, Mysterio’s eyes widen in panic as he spins around to find Orton… SPINNING RIGHT INTO AN RKO!!!

ORTON MAKES THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Chris Jericho and Randy Orton @ 17:30

The fans aren’t happy with the result, booing loudly, but Orton and Jericho don’t care about the reaction. They are quickly joined in the ring by DiBiase, and it doesn’t take long for the rest of Legacy, CODY RHODES and MR. KENNEDY to join the victorious duo in the ring. Whilst Jericho isn’t a member of Legacy, it has been proven that he works well with Orton here tonight.

Mysterio can only roll outside, where he and Morrison lick their wounds, before heading backstage via the side ramp. As the celebration continues inside the ring, suddenly the fans begin to stir, cheering loudly, as somebody has climbed over the barricade and slid inside of the ring…

IT’S TRIPLE H!!!

AND HE’S ARMED WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

Legacy and Jericho start freaking out, as DiBiase makes the first move… CHARGING INTO A SLEDGEHAMMER SHOT TO THE GUT!!!

Kennedy tries to run at Trips well he’s distracted… KENNEDY GETS A SLEDGEHAMMER INTO THE GUT AS WELL!!!

Two men are down and the intense Triple H is staring down Orton and Cody, wondering who is next. This has allowed Jericho to sneak behind him, and Jericho manages to snatch the hammer out of ‘The Game’s’ hands.

H shrugs and being a badass, he starts hammering away with right hands. Cody, Orton, Jericho, they all cop shots as Triple H is virtually taking on five men on his own…

UNTIL CODY MANAGES TO CHOPBLOCK TRIPLE H FROM BEHIND!!!

The numbers were always going to catch up to him eventually. Orton immediately mounts Hunter, letting out his anger with right hands of his own. Meanwhile, Kennedy kicks the sledgehammer that Jericho dropped underneath the bottom rope and out of the ring.

It’s an absolute mugging now as all five men take their turns punching and stomping Triple H. Eventually, they all create some space… ALLOWING JERICHO TO HIT THE LIONSAULT!!!

They aren’t finished with him yet though. Priceless drag H up, holding him in position… ORTON SMASHES THE WWE TITLE OFF OF TRIPLE H’S SKULL!!!

The beatdown STILL isn’t over, as they all keep taking pot shots at Triple H. Slowly, Orton extracts himself from the violence, instead grabbing a microphone. The others continue on with the attack.

Randy Orton: Come on, Hunter. Where are all of your friends? Oh, that’s right, you have none. For everything you’ve done, this is what you deserve.

Out of nowhere, Triple H breaks free, and lands a few rights, before slowly charging (staggering) towards Orton… RIGHT INTO AN RKO!!!

Shaking his head in disdain, Orton picks up the mic that he dropped after H’s unexpected attack.

Randy Orton: Being the WWE Champion, I wait for contenders to earn a title shot. I usually don’t go out and demand challengers, but this is an exceptional circumstance. At Unforgiven, Triple H, I’m going to end you as anything of note.

Orton motions for his pack of wild dogs to stop the attack and they do. The champ arrogantly saunters over to stand right above Triple H, raising the title high in the air as he does so. The heat is loud, but Orton talks over it.

Randy Orton: Take a good look. This is as close as you’ll ever get to my title.

Orton suddenly drops the mic and stomps over Hunter’s face one more time. Now the attack is officially done, as Orton’s music hits, and along with Legacy and Jericho, he gets back into celebration mode.

The fans aren’t happy, but the final image of tonight’s show is Triple H down and out, and Randy Orton seemingly having all the answers…

WWE Monday Night Raw
August 31st, 2009
Detroit, Michigan

This week’s edition of Raw skips all the pomp and pageantry that a WWE production usually entails. Instead, the entrances for the opening match commence as soon as the show hits the air, because we’re kicking off with some wrestling this week.

Match One
Bryan Danielson, John Cena and Paul London vs. Finlay, Vladimir Kozlov and William Regal

The match kicked off with a huge showdown between Cena and Kozlov. The fans were into this blast from a past, with the American hero looking to take down the evil foreigner. They had some big moments in the early stages, however no matter what Cena attempted, he wasn’t able to take the ‘Moscow Mauler’ off of his feet. With that being said, Cena did use his quickness to stick and move, allowing him to go blow for blow with Kozlov, and avoid all the big man’s big shots.

Eventually they both tagged out after a frustrating stalemate, allowing the tandems in the match to get involved. The tag champs, Danielson and London were able to get the upper hand against their European counterparts, Finlay and Regal. As the champs continued to flow, Finlay and Regal went to take a breather on the outside. Showing no fear, Kozlov stormed the ring to get things back on the right track for his team… BUT DANIELSON AND LONDON MEET KOZLOV WITH A DOUBLE DROPKICK!!!

Incredibly, Kozlov staggers backwards, even collapsing into the ropes, but he STILL remains on his feet… UNTIL CENA COMES FROM NOWHERE AND CLOTHESLINES KOZLOV OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE FLOOR!!!

Kozlov landing with a splat on the outside gets a big pop from the crowd. Finlay and Regal huddle around Kozlov, who’s to his feet rather quickly. All three of the heels are unhappy, having a quick conference… WHEN THEY ALL GET TAKEN OUT WITH A FLIPPING SENTON FROM LONDON!!!

A huge high risk move from London pays off, and he’s the first one back to his feet. He pumps his fist to the crowd, getting applauded by Danielson and Cena inside the ring, as we cut to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, and London had dragged Regal back into the ring and focus on him after the high risk move. Unfortunately for London, as he looks to run the ropes to build up some speed, Regal explodes and stops London in his tracks with a huge knee to the gut. The blow is enough to bring London to his knees, and from here, being the smallest man in the match, London gets isolated by the opposition.

Wanting to prove a point ahead of their tag title match at Unforgiven, Regal and Finlay were particularly brutal on London. Finlay just stiffs the hell out of London because he’s a badass, whilst Regal sticks to the mat game, really stretching London. In an interesting dynamic and something that would only really be interesting if I was booking the entire universe, Regal is happy to cheat and bend the rules however Finlay is hesitant to do so. On commentary, they talk about how they’re still a relatively new team.

Anyway, back to the important stuff, London continues to get pummelled until he’s able to reverse an Irish Whip, sending Finlay into the ropes instead. When Finlay bounces off the ropes… LONDON MEETS HIM WITH A DROPSAULT!!!

The impressive move gets a pop from the crowd, with both men remaining down. Finlay slowly starts making his way towards his corner, as does the exhausted London. Finlay reaches Regal, making the tag, but at the last moment, London dives the remaining distance and makes the hot tag to Cena. It’s two on one almost from the moment Cena gets in the ring, but he has his way with both Regal and Finlay anyway.

Cena’s on fire as he cleans house, but he doesn’t notice Koslov sneaking into the ring behind him. Koslov looks to grab Cena from behind… NO!!! KOSLOV GETS NAILED WITH A FLYING DROPKICK FROM BRYAN DANIELSON!!!

Koslov almost looks like a scary Russian terminator, stumbling backwards, but again, incredibly remaining on his feet. Danielson kips up after his big move, and then charges towards Vlad… STEP UP GAMENGURI!!!

Another big kick from Danielson causes Koslov to stagger further backwards, but this time he trips over the ropes, tumbling to the outside. Meanwhile, Cena stalks both Regal and Finlay, who battle to their feet… CENA RUNS THROUGH FINLAY AND REGAL WITH A DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE!!!

Sensing his chance for something big, London ascends to the top rope, remaining perched. He waits as the ‘Belfast Brawler’ uses the ropes to get to his feet… London leaps off the top… FLYING HURRICANRANA!!!

A big pop emanates from the crowd as Danielson, inspired by his partner, steps out onto the apron. He sees Koslov getting up out on the floor… FLYING EUROPEAN UPPERCUT OFF THE APRON!!!

Koslov finally goes down as Danielson lands awkwardly, remaining on the concrete floor as well. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Cena bounces off the ropes and dusts off the shoulder like only he can… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE TO REGAL!!!

With Cena in control, Finlay panics, using the ropes to get up. He has some urgency, knowing he needs to help his partner, but before he can… LONDON LEAPS ONTO FINALY… CACTUS CROSSBODY SENDS BOTH MEN TUMBLING OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

All the carnage has left just Cena and Regal in the ring now. Cena is in complete control, as Regal stumbled up… RIGHT INTO THE FU!!!

CENA HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Bryan Danielson, John Cena and Paul London @ 17:34

It’s a pretty awesome match to start the show, and the faces come out on top The reaction is extremely positive, with the tag champs and Cena happily celebrating their hard fought victory. As the celebration continues, Finlay pulls Regal from the ring, they need to regroup before Unforgiven. The faces continue to celebrate, as we focus in on our commentary desk…

MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER put over the impressive opening contest, before running down the card for the rest of the show, including:

WWE Intercontinental Champion CM Punk and Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes and Mr. Kennedy

With the promotion for the rest of the show out of the way, we get sent to a commercial break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, we are in what looks to be a private locker room, where the WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CM PUNK and REY MYSTERIO sit together. The two are already in their gear, ready for their tag affair tonight, and we pick them up mid conversation.

CM Punk: All I’m saying Rey is I’m looking forward to teaming with you tonight, you’re a legend. But with all due respect, I do have one request, please leave Kennedy for me when we’re out there.

The masked man nods.

Rey Mysterio: No doubt, man. We got this. You sort out your issues with Kennedy, and I’ll make sure DiBiase and anybody else from Legacy don’t get in the way.

Both men are on the same page and at ease with each other, when suddenly their body language becomes more rigid and stand offish. It’s easy to see why, as the camera pans out to reveal a battered and bruised TRIPLE H has entered the locker room. Mysterio is unsure; however Punk looks ready to fight, with ‘The Game’ holding his hands up innocently.

Triple H: Punk, relax. I’m not here for that. I’m here because after last week, I think it’s pretty obvious, I need some friends.

Punk audibly scoffs but H presses on.

Triple H: I know we’ve had our differences in the past, Punk, and Rey, we haven’t, but I’m sure you’ve heard about plenty of the bad things I’ve done in my time. I’m not here to apologise but I’m here to ask you two to do the right thing and watch my back since you both dislike Legacy and Jericho.

Mysterio still has an uncertainty about him, rubbing his chin, whilst Punk looks almost offended at the proposal.

CM Punk: So let me get this straight. Are we just supposed to forget about the last three maybe four months of Legacy ass kissing and you doing their dirty work just because you got turned on?

Punk almost laughs, shaking his head in disbelief, before walking away. It’s a clear no from Punk, and Mysterio follows suit, leaving a concerned expression on the face of Triple H…

Later on in the night, inside the locker room of LEGACY, WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON stared into the eyes of a determined CODY RHODES. The other members of the group were currently absent.

Randy Orton: You’ve been around this business a long time, Cody. Third generation, just like me. All the potential in the world, just like me. Tonight is the night you step up and show everybody what you’re made of.

Cody nods, matching Orton’s stare, as the champ continues to get his protégé amped up.

Randy Orton: You’ve already proven what you can do in the tag team division. Everyone knows Priceless is the best tag team in the WWE, but imagine what a win over Triple H in tonight’s main event will do for your status. It’s time for you to prove your worth as a singles wrestler.

Ambition in his eyes, Cody continues to nod along with Randy’s words. He seems ready to go, whilst the show is ready for commercials…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, we get that PPV hype…

And now it’s time for the next match on the card…

Match Three
CM Punk and Rey Mysterio vs. Mr. Kennedy and Ted DiBiase

Punk was desperate to start the match, and Mysterio was happy to cooperate. The man Punk really wanted to get his hands on though, Kennedy, was not as cooperative. After attacking Punk last week, Kennedy straight up refused to get in the ring with him, much to the dismay of the fans. Despite the frustration, Punk eventually relents and steps to the apron, allowing Mysterio to start the match instead. Rey and DiBiase went at it, and Mysterio used his experience and pace to dominate. His lucha moves keep DiBiase and an interfering Kennedy at bay.

Kennedy continues to try and get involved illegally, when Punk finally gets the chance to intervene. The IC Champ spears Kennedy to the mat and beats the living crap out of him, until KK is able to bail to the outside. As Punk gets up and the referee yells at him to leave the ring, DiBiase sneaks up from behind… BUT MYSTERIO CUTS HIM OFF WITH A FLYING HEADSCISSORS!!!

The velocity of the move sends DiBiase flying across the ring. He scrambles to his feet, running straight into a hard Roundhouse Kick from Punk. DiBiase is rocked after the kick, falling precariously onto the middle rope, allowing Rey to run towards him… 619!!!

NO!!! DIBIASE ESCAPES AND ROLLS TO THE OUTSIDE BEFORE MYSTERIO CAN CONNECT!!!

The fans boo the cowardly act, as Kennedy meets up with DiBiase and they discuss strategy. Suddenly, Mysterio heads to the ropes… SPRINGBOARD…

NO!!! REY FAKES THEM OUT AND LANDS ON THE APRON!!!

Both members of Legacy breathe a sigh of relief… UNTIL PUNK TAKES THEM BOTH OUT WITH A TOPE SUICIDAAA!!!

Big time pop comes from the fans, with Punk and Mysterio on top, as we head to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, the action was back in the ring with Mysterio and Punk still in control. They took turns working on the arm of DiBiase, exchanging quick tags in the process. This continued until Mysterio looked to bounce off the ropes, only for Kennedy to get a cheap knee to Rey’s back. The masked man no sells it and turns and pops Kennedy in the jaw, sending him flying off the apron, but then turns straight into a huge knee to the gut from DiBiase.

The unexpected nature of the shot causes all the air to drive out of Mysterio. It’s one shot but it’s all it took for DiBiase to get on top, and now DiBiase and Kennedy can enjoy their heat period. They isolate Mysterio and as usual, they aren’t afraid to cheat when necessary to maintain the advantage. Whilst the domination of Rey continues, whether on the apron or in the ring, Kennedy is now more than happy to taunt Punk and run his mouth.

Mysterio being grounded means he’s unable to use his speed, but Kennedy’s mouth would eventually catch up with him. After telling Punk, “TICK TOCK ON THAT TITLE REIGN”, Kennedy arrogantly whipped Rey into the ropes… WHEN REY CAME BACK WITH A DROPKICK TO THE KNEE!!!

The impact of the blow causes Kennedy’s leg to give out, but he immediately hobbles to his teams corner and tags in DiBiase. Rey slowly crawled towards the outstretched hand of Punk, but DiBiase managed to grab his foot and drag him back to the centre of the ring. Mysterio hops to his feet, on one leg… ENZUIGURI TO DIBIASE!!!

Both men are down and with the fans reaching a fever pitch, Mysterio hurriedly makes the tag to Punk. Fresh off the hot tag, the IC Champ gets in and tees off on DiBiase, and then the attempting to attack him from behind, Kennedy with body kicks. Punk now has his chance to focus on Kennedy, pushing him into the corner where he tees off with more hard body kicks… WHEN DIBIASE CHARGES FROM BEHIND… CORNER CLOTHESLINE!!!

CONNECTS WITH KENNEDY AS PUNK MANAGES TO SIDESTEP DIBIASE!!!

Ted remains in the corner, feeling the impacts of the collision as well. This allows Punk to create some space before charging in… PUNK SQUASHES BOTH MEN IN THE CORNER WITH HIS PATENTED CORNER KNEE STRIKE!!!

As per usual, Punk wraps his arms around DiBiase’s neck, dragging him out of the corner with a Bulldog! Mysterio ascends to the top rope as Punk guides a wobbly DiBiase to his feet… SEATED SENTON FROM REY!!!

PUNK COVERS DIBIASE…1…2…NO!!! KENNEDY DIVES FROM NOWHERE AND BREAKS UP THE COUNT!!!

Frustrated, Punk shrugs off Kennedy’s clubbing blows and powers to his feet. The champ hits a barrage of slaps and kicks to KK, following it up with a rolling Sole Butt! Kennedy is to his feet relatively quickly as Rey runs off the ropes towards Punk… PUNK POPS REY UP IN THE AIR…

SO MYSTERIO CAN SNAP A HURRICANRANA ON KENNEDY!!!

It must be instinct but somehow Kennedy gets right back up, staggering into a ROUNDHOUSE KICK FROM PUNK!!!

The discombobulated Kennedy drunkenly staggers, trying to maintain his footing, before tripping over the ropes and falling outside the ring. Busy watching Kennedy, Rey and Punk didn’t notice DiBiase recovering… DIBIASE COMES FROM BEHIND AND PUSHES MYSTERIO INTO PUNK!!!

The teammates have a head clash, and with Punk dazed… DIBIASE GETS A ROLL UP…1…2…NO!!! PUNK KICKS OUT!!!

Both men scramble to their feet, albeit DiBiase manoeuvres into the positional advantage… DREAM STREET!!!

NO!!!

Punk gets out behind DiBiase, and then Dropkicks him in the back, causing DiBiase to tumble forward. Ted’s body hangs over the middle rope, allowing Rey to bounce off the opposite ropes and dial it up… 619!!!

Mysterio remains on the apron, but instead of focusing on DiBiase… ASAI MOONSAULT FROM REY TAKES KENNEDY DOWN ON THE FLOOR!!!

Meanwhile, inside of the ring, DiBiase stumbles right into the GO TO SLEEP!!!

PUNK HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: CM Punk and Rey Mysterio @ 16:50

The referee is quick to give Punk his IC Title belt and raise his hand in victory. Punk celebrates amongst the cheers from the fans, as a ginger Mysterio slowly works his way back to his feet at ringside… WHEN REY GETS GRABBED FROM BEHIND AND THROWN FACE FIRST INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

BY CHRIS JERICHO!!!

The heat is enormous from the fans as Punk quickly drops his belt, and hurries outside. Before Punk can get to him, Jericho backs up the ramp, wanting no part of Punk.

Punk gets down on his haunches, checking on Rey as EMT’s come down to take a look. Requested to allow space, Punk rolls back inside of the ring… WHERE KENNEDY CRACKS THE IC TITLE ACROSS HIS SKULL!!!

NO!!!

PUNK DUCKS… GETS KENNEDY UP IN HIS SHOULDERS…

GO TO SLEEP!!!

Kennedy’s legs go limp and he crumbles to the canvas. Meanwhile, a satisfied CM Punk picks up his Intercontinental title, raising it above his head. With Punk standing over KK, title in his hands, the fans cheer loudly, as we cut to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

After the break, we’re in the hallways of the arena where TRIPLE H walks, clearly looking like he’s on a mission. He pauses when he comes to a locker room door, the nameplate reading ‘JOHN CENA’. Hunter gathers himself, taking a deep breath, before knocking on the door and then helping himself inside. JOHN CENA immediately shoots up off the chair he’s sitting on, but much like he had to earlier tonight, H puts his hands up, proclaiming innocence.

Triple H: It’s okay, Cena, I’m not here for that… I’m probably the last person you expected to have a civil conversation with tonight, but that’s what I’m here for. I respect you too much to try and play you, the truth is, I can’t beat Randy Orton, with Legacy by his side, on my own. That’s where you come in. I know you can’t get a WWE Championship match as long as Randy is champion, so it’s in your best interests to…

Cena interrupts.

John Cena: Whoa, whoa, hold your horses. Let me cut you off right there. Okay yes, I reciprocate one of the things you just said. You’ve had an amazing career, I respect you as a wrestler, that’s a fact. But I have no intentions of watching your back tonight or at Unforgiven. That’s another fact. I know that’s all you really want, help to win back the WWE Title, because the only person you really care about is yourself.

Cena shrugs as if to say it is what it is. Sighing at being rejected again, Hunter turns to leave.

John Cena: With all that being said, on the other hand, like you said there actually is something in it for me too. You will be taking on my archnemesis. You’ll be taking on a man I despise, and as long as Orton is champion, well, we all know the stipulation. I won’t get a title shot.

HHH turns to look over his shoulder, suddenly hopeful. Cena doesn’t really give anything away with his expression.

John Cena: I guess what I’m trying to say is, will I help you? Who knows?

Trips shakes his head and leaves the locker room, whilst Cena smirks, having clearly enjoyed not giving H a straight answer…

With WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON watching on at ringside, the main event saw Triple H defeat Cody Rhodes w/Ted DiBiase. HHH landed the Pedigree after 17 minutes to pick up the hard fought victory…

After the match, a tired yet content Triple H got up to celebrate, getting a solid reception from the fans. H looks to turn around and head to the turnbuckles… WHEN HE GETS NAILED IN THE HEAD WITH THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

BY RANDY ORTON!!!

The heat picks up from the fans as DiBiase joins Randy in the ring, and together the dastardly duo stomp all over Triple H. There’s a buzz from the fans, wondering if anybody is going to help Triple H, but it doesn’t look likely at this point.

Slowly, Cody Rhodes works back to his feet after falling victim to the Pedigree. Orton stands over Triple H and yells, “WHERE ARE ALL YOUR FRIENDS”?

A nasty smirk comes across the face of Orton, as he understands that after H’s actions recently, he has no friends. Priceless then drag Triple H up at the request of Orton… AND THEY HIT A NEW COMBINATION MOVE WHERE DIBIASE HITS THE DREAM STREET…

AS CODY LANDS A SIT OUT POWERBOMB AT THE SAME TIME!!!

I’ll name the move later, but for now, just know it’s devastating. Triple H is barely moving now, as Orton stands over him, before bending down… ORTON SLAPS H HARD IN THE FACE!!!

It’s the ultimate sign of disrespect from the champion. Legacy stand tall, having taken out Triple H once again, as the show fades to black…

Approx twenty minutes into the go home show for Unforgiven, our cameras pick up a conversation taking place inside of Legacy’s locker room. The entire unit of LEGACY is there, the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON, MR. KENNEDY, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE. Everybody is kind of just hanging around, doing their own thing, except for Cody, who is in the midst of a conversation with an associate of Legacy, CHRIS JERICHO.

Chris Jericho: We know the match we’ve got tonight, Cody. Me and you against John Morrison and Rey Mysterio. Two thorns in our side that we need to take care of.

Cody nods in agreement, whilst Orton listens in the background.

Cody Rhodes: I couldn’t agree more.

Jericho then holds up his index finger to emphasise his point.

Chris Jericho: I just have one favour to ask. When we’re out there tonight, leave Mysterio for me.

Again, Rhodes nods in agreement, not offended by the request. Jericho smirks, happy at the agreement before suddenly turning his head in the direction of Orton.

Chris Jericho: Speaking of my wants and needs, I’m not Triple H. I’m not here trying to join Legacy, I’m helping you because of our deal, Randy. When will I be getting my title shot?

Orton’s jaw clenches for the briefest of moments, before remaining calm, cool and collected.

Randy Orton: Our deals a deal, you just need to be patient.

Jericho doesn’t look overly happy with that response, but before he can push further, Orton grabs the WWE Title and exits the Legacy locker room…

A little later on in the night, we join KELLY KELLY at the interview set.

Kelly Kelly: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time. He’s the number one contender for the WWE Championship, and gets his shot at the title this Sunday at Unforgiven… TRIPLE H!!!

A battered and bruised TRIPLE H comes into screenshot as the cameras pan out. He nods curtly at Kellyx2, but remains stern looking.

Kelly Kelly: As I mentioned, you do have your title shot this Sunday, but after being left laying two weeks in a row by Legacy, are you worried with no back up that you’re going to fall to the same fate at Unforgiven?

H frowns at the question ever so briefly, before taking a moment to consider his answer.

Triple H: I’m going to keep this short and sweet, Kelly, because I’ve got to go get ready to beat the Million Dollar Man Jr. a little later tonight. What I will say is that Randy Orton seems real tough with a four on one advantage, but I’m still standing. I might not have any friends currently in WWE, but that doesn’t matter. I know all I’ve got to do is make it to Unforgiven, because I know that in a one on one wrestling match, our history says it all. Randy Orton cannot beat me.

It’s very matter of fact from ‘The Game’ tonight, as after that, he walks out of shot. This leaves KK to send us to a commercial break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Of course, being the last show before the pay per view, we are getting that video package…

And now it’s time for the next match on the card…

Match Three
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

CM Punk (c) defends against Dolph Ziggler (ECW)

We’re in Chicago for this show so Punk is so over that his entrance makes the entire arena shake. The support doesn’t really wane for Punk either, and he plays on it, by wearing his Intercontinental Title to the ring, but he also has the Chicago flag draped over his back. Once the action starts, these two go at it on the mat with Dolph proving he’s qualified, but still being controlled by Punk for the most part.

As usual, Punk relies heavily on a Side Headlock and leverage to keep his opponent at bay. Battling back to his feet, Dolph landed some sharp elbows to Punk’s gut, causing him to break free. From here, Ziggler went to work, with punches and kicks, still favouring the mid-section… Until Punk returned serve with some big kicks to the body of his own, eventually causing Ziggler to drop down and roll underneath the bottom rope.

Ziggler looks to catch his breath on the outside, rubbing at his chest… WHEN PUNK TAKES HIM OUT WITH A TOPE SUICIDA!!!

The hometown fans mark out for Punk, as he gets up, in complete control as we head to commercials.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, we find out that Punk has just been bullying Ziggler around ringside. Punk rolls Dolph back into the ring, before hopping onto the apron, waiting for Ziggler to work back to his feet… SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE FROM PUNK!!!

NO!!! ZIGGLER DROPKICKS HIM OUT OF MID AIR!!!

With the impact of a car crash, Ziggler takes over. Ziggler’s heat period begins now, and the ECW star takes his time and slowly dissects the head and neck area of Punk. On commentary, they kind of call out how this could be a rookie mistake. Earlier, he had success going to Punk’s mid-section, he then landed a Dropkick to the mid-section, yet now he’s no longer focusing on that area of Punk’s body.

Still, Dolph does quite well for himself, constantly cutting off any of Punk’s attempts at a comeback. Unfortunately for Ziggler, he’s unable to put Punk away, and things change when he sends Punk into the corner. Dolph sprints in after Punk… CORNER CLOTHESLINE!!!

NO!!! PUNK SIDESTEPS AND GETS OUT OF THE WAY!!!

Punk quickly sprints to the other side of the ring, before running back at Dolph, who’s now got his back against the turnbuckle pads… CORNER KNEE FROM PUNK…

FOLLOWED BY HIS PATENTED BULLDOG OUT OF THE CORNER!!!

The fans explode with delight as their hometown hero starts making a comeback. Both men get back to their feet, but Punk is the first to strike. The IC Champ lands several hard kicks to the body, and Dolph seemingly has no answer… SO PUNK GOES HIGH… ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

NO!!! ZIGGLER DUCKS…

Dolph kicks Punk in the gut… AND SPIKES HIM WITH A DDT!!!

ZIGGLER HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! PUNK GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

You can audibly hear the sigh of relief from the Chicago natives for the kick out. Ziggler runs his hands through his peroxide hair, wondering what to do next. After a few moments, Dolph grabs the downed Punk, brings him up… LOCKING IN A DOUBLE UNDERHOOK…

NO!!! PUNK QUICKLY SPINS OUT…

AND THIS TIME CONNECTS WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK TO ZIGGLER’S TEMPLE!!!

Dolph stumbles to a knee, but quickly gets back up. He’s dazed but still standing, until Punk hoists him up onto his shoulders… GO TO SLEEP!!!

PUNK FALLS INTO THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

Winner: CM Punk @ 15:05

The ovation is once again incredible as Punk gets the opportunity to celebrate an impressive victory. The hometown hero continues to enjoy the moment, raising his IC Title high in the air, until the mood in the arena changes…

AS MR. KENNEDY MAKES HIS WAY DOWN TO RINGSIDE!!!

The crowd boos the appearance of Kennedy, as he and Punk immediately begin trading words. Kennedy remains outside the ring, ignoring Punk’s invites to join him inside, when Kennedy grabs the Chicago flag…

KENNEDY SPITS ALL OVER THE CHICAGO FLAG!!!

The heat is UNGODLY for the disrespectful act from Kennedy, and Punk snaps. Chicago will always be in Punk’s heart as he runs to the outside and starts swinging wild right hands at Kennedy.

The brawl is on with Kennedy landing shots of his own, but the fury of Punk wins out, as he’s able to grab Kennedy… AND PUNK RAMS KENNEDY FACE FIRST INTO THE RING POST!!!

Chicago is on their feet, cheering loudly for Punk, who keeps stomping the holy hell out of Kennedy on the floor. The beating continues…

UNTIL PUNK GETS SMACKED IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP…

BY RANDY ORTON!!!

Just as we thought the crowd couldn’t get any louder, they are venomous towards Orton. The WWE Champion helps his fellow Legacy member to his feet, and now Kennedy and Orton stomp all over Punk on the outside.

The IC Champ is in a world of trouble, when JOHN MORRISON AND REY MYSTERIO RUN DOWN TO RINGSIDE…

AND THEY ARE ARMED WITH STEEL CHAIRS!!!

Smartly or cowardly, Orton and Kennedy back away from the chair wielding babyfaces. They go the long way around the ring to avoid contact, and begin retreating up the ramp.

As this is happening, some officials run down to ringside to check on Punk, who seems to be struggling. Meanwhile, Mysterio and Morrison let the officials do their job, instead sliding into the ring because their tag match against Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes (which I will not be covering), is coming up next…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Later on in the night, we saw a confident looking MR. KENNEDY standing on his own in the back, ready to address the masses.

Mr. Kennedy: Tonight, I participated in some mental warfare with the paper WWE Intercontinental Champion. Tonight, I spat on CM Punk’s heritage, and in doing so, I took him off his game. This Sunday at Unforgiven, the spotlight will be shining, and we’ll be on my ground in Green Bay. I guarantee I’ll be leaving there with the IC Title, because that title rightfully belongs to… MISTERRRRRR KENNNEEEEDEEEEEYYYYYY…

KK smacks his gum in mouth, staring into the camera cockily.

Mr. Kennedy: KENNNEEEEDEEEEEYYYYYY…

The challenger continues to look obnoxiously confident as the scene comes to an end…

And now, we skip ahead to our main event of the evening…

Match Five
Ted DiBiase w/Randy Orton vs. Triple H

Last week when Triple H faced Cody Rhodes, Orton watched on from the commentary team but didn’t get involved until after the match. Not wanting Trips to beat a second Legacy member in two consecutive weeks, Orton gets on the apron and distracts ‘The Game’ early on. It isn’t much but it’s enough for DiBiase to get the jump on H and maintain the early advantage.

DiBiase systematically works over the head and neck of Triple H, with the commentary putting over the long term planning in regard to strategy. Not only will that soften Triple H up for the Dream Street, but that’s also the direct area the RKO will impact if it’s landed at Unforgiven. Determined to gain further revenge on Legacy, against the odds, Hunter kept fighting back, but DiBiase continued to find a way to drag Trips back down to the canvas and keep him on the mat.

At the request of the WWE Champion on the outside, DIBIASE APPLIED HIS VERSION OF THE ORTON LOCK!!!

DiBiase writhes around on the canvas, much like his mentor, trying to apply as much pressure as possible. Meanwhile, on the outside, Orton is urging DiBiase on, “SQUEEZE THE LIFE OUT OF HIM”! DiBiase is unable to complete Orton’s request though, and it isn’t long before Triple H manages to fight back to his feet.

He breaks DiBiase’s grip around his neck with some elbows to the gut, before following up with some right hands. DiBiase counters with a thumb to the eye, and looks to Irish Whip H into the ropes. Triple H reverses, sending DiBiase into the ropes instead, and when Ted bounces off… TRIPLE H LANDS THE HARLEY HIGH KNEE!!!

The fans mark out as it looks like Triple H is starting to build some momentum. He grabs DiBiase, landing some more rights, before sending him off the ropes again… DOUBLE A SPINEBUSTER!!!

Orton looks panicked on the outside as things aren’t looking good for DiBiase. The intense Triple H gets back up, stalking Ted, until CODY RHODES leaps onto the apron, but Triple H drills him with a right hand, knocking him off. CHRIS JERICHO is next onto the apron, so Trips pops him in the jaw with a right hand. Finally, MR. KENNEDY leaps up and the world beating Triple H nails him as well.

Whilst Triple H takes care of everybody trying to interfere, DiBiase has recovered and sneaks up from behind… DREAM STREET!!!

NO!!! TRIPLE H THROWS DESPERATE ELBOWS, FORCING DIBIASE OFF OF HIM!!!

The blows stun DiBiase, so Triple H follows with a kick to the gut… PEDIGREE!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY GETS IN AND CLOBBERS TRIPLE H ACROSS THE BACK!!!

The Pedigree is broken up but the interference is blatant and in front of the ref, leaving the ref no choice but to call a disqualification…

Winner: Triple H @ 7:50

Orton, Cody and Jericho all join Kennedy inside the ring, and it’s a four on one beatdown. The fans boo loudly as Triple H falls to the numbers advantage again, until Orton shows some form of mercy and throws Triple H over the top rope and to the outside.

Landing with a splat, Triple H is quick to react, lifting up the ring apron, and the fans lose their minds… BECAUSE TRIPLE H HAS FOUND A SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

“MAYBE TRIPLE H HAS FOUND THE ONLY FRIEND HE NEEDS” – Michael Cole…

H rolls back into the ring, and Rhodes approaches him first… TRIPLE H RAMS THE SLEDGEHAMMER INTO CODY’S GUT!!!

Cody drops to the canvas, gasping for air, as Jericho panics and runs at H… TRIPS NAILS JERICHO IN THE SKULL WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

Orton tries to get at H, TRIPLE H NAILS ORTON IN THE GUT WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER…

H TURNS AND NAILS KENNEDY IN THE GUT WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER AS WELL!!!

It’s sledgehammer shots for everybody, and the fans are going nuts. With all his enemies down, Triple H notices DiBiase recovering, so he drops the sledgehammer. DiBiase gets to his feet and turns into a kick to the gut… DIBIASE GETS NAILED WITH THE PEDIGREE!!!

Triple H gets back to his feet and looks to walk towards Orton… BUT HE CAN’T BECAUSE CODY GRABS HIS FEET!!!

As Cody holds onto Triple H’s feet, Orton and Kennedy attack. They beat down Triple H with punches until he falls to the canvas, and they begin kicking all over the carcass.

Orton continues to land shots, annoyed, whilst KENNEDY HAS THE AUDACITY TO SPIT ON TRIPLE H!!!

Suddenly, the sadistic Orton turns his attention towards the sledgehammer. He methodically heads towards it and picks it off the mat… WHEN CM PUNK SLIDES INTO THE RING!!!

The Chicago natives go bonkers again for their hometown hero… AS PUNK IMMEDIALTELY NAILS ORTON WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

The blow staggers the champ and causes him to drop the sledgehammer. Still wanting revenge for earlier, Punk now turns his attention towards Kennedy, throwing vicious kicks at his face.

Meanwhile Triple H has battled back to his feet, and managed to get his hands on the sledgehammer again… AND TRIPLE H RAMS CODY’S SKULL WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

Looking concerned for the first time in weeks, Orton decides his had enough. Leaving his Legacy teammates and his WWE Championship behind, Orton exits the ring and begins backpedalling up the ramp…

BUT TRIPLE H DROPS THE HAMMER, FOLLOWS ORTON AND THE TWO START BRAWLING ON THE RAMP!!!

A stack of referees and security run to the ramp, trying to break up the two but to no avail. Meanwhile, inside of the ring, CM Punk shrugs and picks up the sledgehammer that ‘The Game’ left behind. Punk notices Jericho working to his feet… JERICHO GETS NAILED IN THE FACE FOR THE SECOND TIME WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER!!!

The Chicago fans are loving it as Punk then stands over Cody… AND RAMS THE SLEDGEHAMMER INTO HIS GUT!!!

Now Punk drops the hammer, noticing Kennedy working to his feet, so Punk gets him up on his shoulders… GO TO SLEEP!!!

The Intercontinental Champion stands tall in his hometown. He’s less than a week away from a title defence, but now he picks up the discarded WWE Championship. The fans get even louder at the sight of Punk with the title, as Punk just nods at it as he stares intently, desperate to get it back one day.

Punk holds the title high in the air, the solitary figure in the ring, watching over Orton and Triple H, the two men who will actually fight for the title at Unforgiven, being separated by security on the ramp…

ADDITION TO UNFORGIVEN CARD

There is a never ending saga on Raw at the moment, featuring the war between the WWE Champion Randy Orton and his stable, Legacy, and the babyfaces on the Raw roster who’re attempting to dethrone Orton. Three men who have shown interest in dethroning Orton, and one with some form of success, will team up at Unforgiven in a Six Man Tag Team Match. It will be the man who is banned from facing Orton for the WWE Championship, John Cena, teaming with the man who dethroned Orton at Summerslam but then lost the title the following night, John Morrison, and a former World Heavyweight Champion, Rey Mysterio. They will face Orton’s mentees Priceless and Chris Jericho, who is assisting Orton, but only based on a handshake agreement to receive a title shot of his own. All competitors will be out to impress and potentially earn a future WWE Title shot.

After the opening match, the show cuts to the interview set, where the luscious, white toothed KELLY KELLY is standing by.

Kelly Kelly: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Kelly Kelly, and please welcome my guest at this time, he is the WWE Intercontinental Champion… CM PUNK!!!

KK remains excited as the camera pans out to reveal the WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CM PUNK. The champ wears a ‘Straightedge’ t-shirt over his wrestling tights, smiling politely at Kelly, but his eyes tell the real story, he’s ready for tonight.

Kelly Kelly: CM Punk, you’ve dealt with a lot of recent attacks from Mr. Kennedy, and you’ve managed to keep your cool. How do you continue to keep your emotions in check tonight after Mr. Kennedy desecrated your beloved Chicago flag on Raw?

Punk rolls his wrists, looking down at the ground, mulling over the question.

CM Punk: It’s a great question, Kelly. I’ve been thinking about it all week, and honestly, I still don’t know the answer. Here’s what I do know, last week, in my hometown, Kennedy stepped over the line. So now tonight in an example of poetic justice, in his hometown, he’ll pay for it.

Before the interview can go any further, Punk gets an irritated look on his face as TRIPLE H steps onto the set. Kelly slowly backs away as Punk looks ready to fight, whilst H holds his hands up innocently, not looking for a fight right at this moment.

Triple H: Whoa, just like on Raw, I come in peace. I’m not looking to cause any problems; I just wanted to come by and say thanks for the help at the end of Raw.

Hunter earnestly offers his hand, but Punk immediately scoffs at it.

CM Punk: It sounds to me like there’s a misunderstanding with what went down on Raw. I didn’t get involved for you, that was not me helping you. As far as I’m concerned, you haven’t changed. You still haven’t proven that you aren’t still a manipulative, evil bitch. I know it’s a big night for you so let me make this as clear as can be, you shouldn’t ever rely on me to help you out.

Triple H takes a deep breath, trying not to lose his temper. Meanwhile, Punk now turns his back on H, directing his attention back to Kelly.

CM Punk: Now where were we? Oh right. As far as Kennedy goes, I end this tonight!

Punk nods at Kelly and leaves, paying Triple H no further attention, who stands there, perhaps moving his mind to his WWE Championship match tonight…

After the next match, we head backstage, just before the gorilla position where LEGACY stand. The WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON stands tall in the middle, with MR. KENNEDY on one side, and PRICELESS, CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE on the other. Kennedy and Orton still wear Legacy tees; however the youngsters look ready for action.

Cody Rhodes: Like John Cena says, the time is now. We are going to dismantle Cena and John Morrison.

Ted nods in agreement as now Kennedy steps forward. It’s worth noting being in Green Bay, there’s a big pop for Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy: Tonight, I shut CM Punk’s mouth for good. I am going to finish what I started and take back the Intercontinental Title that rightfully belongs to me.

And now it’s time for the leader, Randy Orton, to speak.

Randy Orton: Triple H, everything between us over the past six months has led to this moment. I’ve been manipulating the chess board, staying one step ahead to get us right to this point. I have given myself the opportunity and I am going to complete my revenge tonight.

The methodical, stoic Orton takes a moment before continuing.

Randy Orton: For you Triple H, not only are you unforgiven, but it’s game over.

With that, Legacy huddle up, ready for some last minute preparation as the cameras cut away…

And the next scene on the pay per view is a video package…

Match Three
Chris Jericho and Priceless vs. John Cena, John Morrison and Rey Mysterio

Jericho and Priceless are arrogant in the early going, when the babyfaces opt for the smaller Mysterio to start the match. Much to the delight of the fans, the arrogance didn’t last long as Mysterio used his speed early on to keep all three members of the opposition off balance. Rey Rey then made the tag to Cena, who came in just as fired up and also dominated. The only difference is opposed to using speed, Cena relies on explosiveness and brute power to have his way with the opponents.

Cena eventually tagged out to Morrison, who came in and had early success like his teammates, until he didn’t. Jericho was able to ground Morrison and JoMo, the former WWE Champion was briefly isolated. It didn’t last long though as Morrison is able to turn the tide on Cody, managing to catch him with a Drop Toe Hold!

Before Cody can react, Morrison follows up… BREAKDANCING LEG DROP!!!

In maybe something somewhat of a surprise, with Cody now in trouble, Morrison and Cena exchange multiple tags, functioning like an experienced team would. Rhodes can’t do anything except get beaten up by Morrison and Cena, as they take turns working on Cody’s left arm. The faces continue to dominate until Morrison is the legal man again, and he bounces off the ropes to build momentum… BUT DIBIASE GRABS MORRISON BY THE HAIR AND RIPS HIM DOWN TO THE CANVAS!!!

The heat is enormous for the heel tactic, as Morrison instinctively bounced right back up… CODY NAILS HIM WITH A BIG DROPKICK!!!

This time Morrison isn’t able to just get straight back to his feet, and now the WWE Champion gets isolated and dominated. The heel trio work over the midsection of Morrison, really focusing on his ribs, whilst Jericho repeatedly yells out insults to Mysterio, infuriating him. As the heat period continues, we end up with DiBiase beating on Morrison in the corner, before sending him into the opposite corner.

Ted charges in after Morrison… BUT MORRISON GETS A BOOT UP… RIGHT INTO THE JAW OF DIABIASE!!!

With Ted staggering around like he’s drunk… MORRISON DIVES ACROSS THE RING AND GETS THE HOT TAG TO CENA!!!

A big pop comes from the fans as Cena steps through the ropes. Cena starts running through DiBiase, way to powerful for him. Cody looks to intervene, but Cena drops him to, now taking care of both members of Priceless. With Cena’s back turned, Jericho looks to sneak in and intervene… SPRINGBOARD SEATED SENTON FROM MYSTERIO TAKES OUT JERICHO!!!

Scrambling back to his feet, Mysterio sees Cody getting back up and runs at him… FLYING HEADSCISSORS TAKES CODY BACK DOWN!!!

The velocity of the blow sends Cody tumbling across the mat, and somehow he ends up in a seated position, ALLOWING MORRISON TO HIT A RUNNING KNEE!!!

Morrison now turns his attention towards DiBiase, who has gotten to his feet but slumped against the corner. Morrison charges in and connects with a Punk like high knee strike on DiBiase. Instead of letting Ted fall to the canvas, Morrison scoops him up and places him in a seated position on the top rope.

Morrison then takes a few steps away from the corner and Mysterio runs at Morrison… MORRISON POPS MYSTERIO UP…

STRAIGHT INTO A FRANKENSTEINER OFF THE TOP!!!

An epic pop rings out for the move, and it only gets louder as Cena stands over Cody… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE!!!

JUST AS MORRISON HITS A STANDING SHOOTING STAR PRESS ON DIBIASE!!!

The faces are on fire as Morrison gets back up, a spring in his step as he plays to the fans… MISSILE DROPKICK FROM JERICHO TAKES OUT MORRISON!!!

With Morrison in trouble in the centre of the ring, Jericho runs towards the ropes… LIONSAULT!!!

NO!!! MYSTERIO DROPKICKS JERICHO IN THE BACK AS HE GOES TO SPRINGBOARD…

SENDING HIM TUMBLING OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Meanwhile, Cena stalks DiBiase, who stumbles to a vertical base… FU!!!

NO!!! CODY KICKS CENA IN THE GUT TO INTERRUPT!!!

Cena is forced to slide DiBiase off his shoulders, bending over to hold his gut… CODY NAILS HIM WITH A SILVER SPOON DDT!!!

Meanwhile, not paying any attention to the action inside the ring, and just focusing on his rival… REY TAKES OUT JERICHO ON THE FLOOR WITH A SPRINGBOARD PLANCHA!!!

Now that the ring has cleared out, DIBIASE PINS CENA…1…2…NO!!! CENA GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Both members of Priceless focus in on Cena now, pummelling him with stomps. They eventually drag Cena back up, setting up for the MILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT!!!

NO!!! IT’S INTERRUPTED WHEN MORRISON HITS A SPRINGBOARD ENZUIGURI TO THE BACK OF DIBIASE’S HEAD!!!

Grabbing at the back of his head, a dazed DiBiase rolls towards the bottom rope, seeking solace. At the same time, Cody gets hammered by Morrison with right hands, causing Cody to need to rely on the ropes for support… MORRISON CHARGES FORWARD AND NAILS CODY WITH A CACTUS CLOTHESLINE…

SENDING BOTH MEN TUBMLING OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Ted’s trying to use the ropes to pull himself up, but only makes it to the middle rope… 619!!!

Rey Rey remains on the apron, looking at the action on the floor… ASAI MOONSAULT FROM MYSTERIO TAKES OUT EVERYBODY ON THE FLOOR!!!

Inside the ring now, it’s down to the final two. DiBiase stumbles up, literally on dream street… AND CENA GETS HIM UP FOR THE FU!!!

CENA HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: John Cena, John Morrison and Rey Mysterio @ 15:10

The fans are happy with the result after the feel good ending. Cena gets back to his feet, quickly joined by Morrison and Mysterio, and the trio celebrate together. Whilst Cena and Morrison especially have made their intentions of capturing the WWE Title clear, that stays out of the celebration. The trio celebrate up the ramp and head to the back, having gotten one over on Legacy and Chris Jericho tonight…

Later on in the night, we saw a split screen in the backstage area. On the left side of the screen, we see the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON tying the laces to his boots, no longer surrounded by Legacy. On the right hand side of the screen, TRIPLE H puts on his extensive wrist tape, reinforcing his knuckles in the process. Michael Cole and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler go into HYPE MODE~! for tonight’s main event…

Two matches go by and we’re back in the locker room of TRIPLE H. He’s now completely in his gear, taped up and ready for the main event. He sits on a chair in the middle of the locker room, quietly confident as he wipes his water covered hair out of his face and looks deep into the camera.

Triple H: I’ve been thinking about some of the things Randy Orton has said to me over the last few weeks and I’ve come to the conclusion that maybe Orton’s right. I haven’t always been a model citizen so maybe I deserve everything that’s happened over the summer to now.

Hunter pauses, showing no emotion, just letting that realisation sink in.

Triple H: That’s all well and good. The numbers have been against me, I didn’t deserve any backup, if that’s true, I can accept that. But tonight’s the night where none of that matters anymore. The only thing that matters is that we still have to deal with the complete fact that Randy Orton cannot beat me in a one on one match.

H’s expression doesn’t show gloating, just pure, unadulterated confidence in his own ability.

Triple H: That means that after Unforgiven, after tonight’s main event, there’ll be something else we all have to deal with. We’ll also have to deal with the fact that I am The Game, and I am the next WWE Champion.

Getting slightly worked up towards the end, Hunter’s voice gets gruff. He then explodes off the chair, and leaves the shot, looking extremely ready for the main event…

Another match occurs but then before we get to the next match, a video package is played, highlighting some events from this week’s Raw…

***

The ovation is once again incredible as CM PUNK gets the opportunity to celebrate an impressive victory.

***

Straight from the video package, we are back at ringside…

“MISTER KENNEDY”

Being the challenger for the upcoming Intercontinental Championship match, MR. KENNEDY makes his way down the ramp first. Obnoxiously chomping on his gum like only he can, Kennedy gets an AWESOME ovation from his hometown fans. Despite multiple fans leaning over for a high five, Kennedy ignores them, instead sliding straight into the ring, and climbing the turnbuckles. After surveying the audience with his eyes, Kennedy heads to the centre of the ring, shoots his hand up in the air, and to the delight of Green Bay, the classic silver mic drops into Kennedy’s waiting hand.

Mr. Kennedy: After Raw this week, I travelled straight to Green Bay to get a few extra days back home. I was proud to be back home, for a little while anyway. After a day or two, I realised that just like CM Punk, Green Bay sucks!

Kennedy sneers at the fans who’re enraged. Just like that, the entire arena is against Kennedy, just like he likes it.

Mr. Kennedy: I am this terrible towns shining light, so at least you can all have some pride in your miserable lives after this match. Because I will be able to stand here in the centre of the ring and say ladies and gentlemen, your NEW WWE Intercontinental Champion… MIIISSSSSTTTEEEERRRR KENNNNNNEEEEEEDDDDDDYYYYYYYY!!!!

Some of the fans chant along, but there’s less enthusiasm than there would have been before KK opened his mouth. Kennedy heads to the corner, mic still in hand, but before he can deliver the second Kennedy…

***THIS FIRE BURNS***

The music of the WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CM PUNK interrupts, and the fans now lose it in appreciation for the champion. After what happened on Raw, Punk quickly points to his watch, shouting “IT’S CLOBBERING TIME”, but then makes his way to the ring with not many theatrics. Punk is ready to fight tonight…

Match Seven
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
CM Punk (c) defends against Mr. Kennedy

Despite his eagerness to get this one started, Punk knows that Kennedy is slimy and doesn’t start overly aggressive. With the fans now well and truly behind Punk, Punk circles Kennedy, until they lock up. Kennedy immediately snatches a Side Headlock and wants to try and take Punk down to engage in some mat wrestling. Somehow, Punk snatches his head out of Kennedy’s grip, and EXPLODES.

Punk begins kicking the shit out of the body of Kennedy, shot after shot. On commentary, they wonder if the champ lured Kennedy into a false sense of security, and now he’s getting revenge for Kennedy spitting on the Chicago flag. Punk continues to dominate, beating Kennedy all over the ring. Kennedy has no choice but to bail to the outside, however when he returns to the ring, Punk just beats him up even more.

This cycle happens two more times, until on the fourth time, when Kennedy is forced to bail, a frustrated Punk follows. Ignoring the referee admonishing him, Punk teed off on Kennedy with right hands on the outside… AND THEN PUNK SENT KENNEDY CRASHING SHOULDER FIRST INTO THE RING STEPS!!!

The referee starts counting both men out, so Punk has no choice but to drag Kennedy up and roll him back inside the ring. The one sided beatdown continues in the ring, Punk continuing to dominate, finally releasing all of his anger. After just landing repeated punches, trapping Kennedy in the corner, Punk takes a few steps back, only to then charge forward… HIGH KNEE IN THE CORNER CONNECTS!!!

Punk wraps his arm around Kennedy’s head and neck… BULLDOG!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY SHOVES PUNK AWAY!!!

Punk staggers forward, almost stumbling right into the referee. The ref ducked and got out of the way, only just avoiding contact… WHEN KENNEDY NAILS PUNK WITH A LOW BLOW!!!

Due to the referees dodging tactics, he misses the low blow, but he sees KENNEDY SNATCH AN INSIDE CRADLE…1…2…NO!!! PUNK KICKED OUT!!!

Whilst Kennedy is back to his feet quickly, Punk is not. He’s still feeling the effects of the low blow, and this allows for Kennedy to stay on the attack. The low blow has allowed for Kennedy to take over, as he now focuses on the head and neck area of the IC Champion. Of course, the devious Kennedy cheats whenever he feels necessary also, much to the dismay of the ref and the fans.

Kennedy continues to dominate, until he runs at Punk and swings a Clothesline… No. Punk ducks, and Kennedy keeps running, bouncing off the opposite ropes before coming back… PUNK CATCHES HIM WITH A SNAP POWERSLAM!!!

Both men remain down after this, exhausted and needing time to recover. They both slowly get back up, with Punk beating Kennedy to the punch. Punk lands a series of big slaps and kicks… BEFORE TRYING A SPINNING BACK FIST!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY TAKES A STEP BACK TO AVOID CONTACT!!!

KK then puts his head down and drives his shoulder into Punk’s mid-section. He uses that position to push Punk backwards, trapping him in the corner. After landing a few right hands, Kennedy walks to the other side of the ring and charges forward… CORNER CLOTHESLINE!!!

NO!!! PUNK SIDE STEPS IT AND KENNEDY CRASHES INTO THE CORNER!!!

Now it’s Punk’s turn to stumble to the other side of the ring and then run at his cornered opponent… CORNER HIGH KNEE CONNECTS AGAIN!!!

THIS TIME PUNK SUCCESSFULLY CONNECTS WITH THE BULLDOG OUT OF THE CORNER!!!

Punk rolls Kennedy onto his back, but before he can make the cover, Kennedy keeps rolling. Punk crawls after him, but KK manages to crawl underneath the bottom rope and to the outside. The frustration is written all over Punk’s face, as Kennedy slowly works to his feet. Meanwhile, Punk has to deal with the referee in his face, until Punk starts running across the ring… TOPE SUICIDA TAKES OUT THE RECOVERED KENNEDY!!!

With the fans cheering loudly, Punk works back to his feet and drags Kennedy up with him. After landing a knee to the stomach, Punk rolls KK back inside of the ring. Instead of following in, Punk gets onto the apron, but then watches Kennedy closely, until he works to his feet… SPRINGBOARD FLYING CLOTHESLINE!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY DUCKS!!!

Punk manages to land on his feet, albeit unsteady, and Kennedy hoists him onto his shoulders… GREEN BAY PLUNGE (although not from the top rope) CONNECTS!!!

KENNEDY QUICKLY GETS THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! PUNK JUST MANAGES TO GET A SHOULDER UP!!!

Kennedy remains focused, not showing frustration and instead he roughly drags Punk up by the hair. The challenger hooks Punk up… MIC CHECK!!!

NO!!! PUNK GETS AN INSIDE CRADLE OUT OF NOWHERE…1…2…NO!!! KENNEDY KICKS OUT!!!

Both men hurriedly scramble to their feet, but Punk beats Kennedy to the punch… LANDING THE PUNKER COMBO!!!

Punk then hoists Kennedy onto his shoulders… GO TO SLEEP!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY RAKES THE EYES…

AND THEN TRANSITIONS INTO AN O’CONNOR ROLL…1.

KENNEDY HOLDS THE ROPES...

2…

NO!!! PUNK JUST KICKS OUT!!!

Again, both men bounce back up, and Kennedy looks to strike first, swinging with a Clothesline. Punk ducks… AND THEN NAILS KENNEDY WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

The aggressive Punk brings Kennedy back to his feet, and folds his arm behind his back… PEPSI TWIST!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY DUCKS PUNK’S SWINGING ARM!!!

Using the fact both men are sweaty, Kennedy is able to yank himself free of Punk’s slippery grip. Kennedy then grabs Punk’s hand and whips him into the ropes, and when Punk comes back… KENNEDY CATCHES HIM WITH A SPINEBUSTER!!!

KENNEDY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! PUNK KICKS OUT!!!

This time the frustration kicks in for Kennedy as he gets up and gets in the referees face. “DO YOU KNOW HOW TO COUNT TO THREE, DAMN IT”? The referee doesn’t respond, clearly intimidated. Kennedy finally turns his attention back towards his opponent, who had made it to his knees. Kennedy helps Punk up… MIC CHECK!!!

NO!!! PUNK SPINS OUT AND GETS A GO BEHIND!!!

Head on a swivel, Kennedy spins to face Punk… BUT PUNK SNATCHES HIM ONTO HIS SHOULDERS…

GO TO SLEEP!!!

NO!!! KENNEDY REVERSES INTO A DDT!!!

It’s a high impact move but instead of going for the pin, Kennedy wants to leave no doubt. Bringing Punk along for the trip, Kennedy heads to the corner of the ring, where he then places Punk in a seated position on the top rope. Kennedy steps out onto the apron, where he climbs up to the top rope himself. He now manages to lift Punk up onto his shoulders… GREEN BAY PLUNGE!!!

NO!!! PUNK EXPLODES WITH ELBOWS TO THE TEMPLE TO BREAK FREE!!!

Kennedy lets Punk slip off his shoulders, but Punk smoothly, keeps sliding until he’s back with his feet firmly planted on the canvas. Before Kennedy can react, Punk grabs Kennedy, ripping him off of the turnbuckle, and onto Punk’s shoulders… GO TO SLEEP!!!

PUNK HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winner: CM Punk @ 18:22

The Green Bay fans are ecstatic as their disappointing hometown guy has been defeated, and CM Punk has successfully retained his IC Title. There’s a look of relief on Punk’s face, as he works to his feet, and is then presented with the title by the referee. Punk celebrates with the title, enjoying the moment before eventually making his way to the back.

Left in the ring to lick his wounds, Kennedy gets back up. The fans give him a tremendous amount of heat, as he looks FURIOUS at his second narrow loss to Punk in the past month or so…

After the SD portion of the show has been completed, we get a video package to hype the true main event…

***

The video package focuses on the similarities between TRIPLE H turning on WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON in 2004 and then Orton turning on Triple a few weeks ago, five years later. Both men who were turned on were successful at winning a title match on Raw, before they were paraded around on their teams shoulders. The thumbs down spot then occurred for both of them.

Both fell victim to the numbers advantage in the weeks that followed, before having a match booked for their revenge at Unforgiven. Orton was unsuccessful in the revenge match in 2004, will Triple H have better success this year?

Randy Orton (c) defends against Triple H

With all the hatred in the world between these two, you could have expected a fierier start, but both are veterans of big matches. They start with a tense lock up, both jostling for position, and Triple H slowly starts to back Orton up. It looks like ‘The Game’ has the strength advantage, but then Orton snaps on a Side Headlock out of nowhere. Orton squeezes like only he can, really cranking the pressure on the head and neck area of Triple H.

The number one contender isn’t in the mood for finesse, attempting to use brute strength to pry his head free. Orton is too clever for it though, using leverage to maintain his hold, and they end up back in the centre of the ring. The Side Headlock is still applied when Orton surprisingly lets it go, and in the same motion… RKO!!!

NO!!! TRIPLE H SHOVES ORTON AWAY… HARD… SENDING HIM TUMBLING THROUGH THE ROPES AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

It’s an uncomfortable landing for Orton on the thin protective mats and before he can get up, Triple H has already followed him out. H goes to town with right hands now, really battering Orton, until the champ is forced to lean against the crowd barricade to maintain his footing. Taking a step back, Triple H runs at Orton… CLOTHESLINING HIM OVER THE BARRICADE AND INTO THE CROWD!!!

Triple H takes a quick glance at the referee, who isn’t even counting them out. On commentary, they mention the referee applying some leniency to the rules because it’s the main event. Sensing that, Triple H steps over the barricade and joins Orton in the crowd. The buzz of anticipation from the nearby fans picks up, as Trips beats Orton up and down the aisles of the arena with hard right hands.

After some Triple H domination, they eventually make their way back to the barricade, where H sends Orton flying back over to ringside. ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ joins the stunned Orton at ringside, bringing him up… TRIPS SENDS ORTON CRASHING INTO THE STEEL STEPS!!!

The fans are loving watching the champ get destroyed, as H just stalks Orton, looking every bit a predator. Orton gets to his feet, albeit with the help of the crowd barricade, and H runs at him… HARLEY RACE HIGH KNEE!!!

NO!!! ORTON MOVES…

AND TRIPLE H SMASHES HIS KNEE INTO THE CROWD BARRICADE!!!

As soon as he falls to the floor, Hunter screams in agony, grabbing at his leg. Seeing it with a hint of glory in his eyes, Orton gets back to his feet. He stomps all over the injured left leg of Triple H, inflicting even more damage. Orton then drags Triple H closer to the ring steps and lifts him up in the air… SHIN BREAKER ONTO THE RING STEPS!!!

The gasps from the audience are massive, and Triple H’s shin might be shattered after that. Somehow, Trips gets up and throws himself into the ring, just looking to create some space. Orton doesn’t allow it though, immediately following Triple H in, and continuing to attack the impacted limb. The offense continues from Orton, until he grabs H’s leg and tells him, “LOOK IN MY EYES AS I DO THIS”!

H is almost defenceless with the damage to his leg, which Orton steps over… INTO THE FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOS ring out for the homage to Ric Flair, as Orton wrenches on the leg of one of his former mentors. Triple H yelps in pain, but refuses to submit, and after remaining in the hold… TRIPLE H MADE IT TO THE ROPES!!!

Orton lets go at the referees request, but only for a millisecond, before grabbing Hunter’s leg and dragging him away from the ropes. Back in the centre of the ring now, Orton lifts the left leg of H, and stomps all over the back of the knee. Orton then looks to step over the leg again… APPLYING THE FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK AGAIN!!!

NO!!! TRIPLE H KICKS ORTON IN THE ASS…

THE MOMENTUM SENDING ORTON STUMBLING FORWARD AND THROUGH THE ROPES!!!

Showing his athleticism, Orton landed on his feet outside of the ring. Inside the ring, Trips used the time to rub at his leg, trying to get rid of some of the pain. Within a few moments, Orton is back inside, approaching H, who is limping to his feet. H manages to grab Orton unexpectedly… H THROWS ORTON SHOULDER FIRST INTO THE RING POST!!!

With Orton momentarily indisposed, now Hunter has time to shake out his leg and try and get some feeling back. Orton pushes himself out of the corner and heads back to the centre of the ring. The champ clearly favours his shoulder, but Trips ignores it. Instead, red faced and full of fury, Hunter starts running through Orton with punches and Clotheslines.

After letting out some of his anger towards Orton, H Irish Whips Orton into the ropes, and when Orton bounces off… TRIPLE H HITS THE HARLEY RACE HIGH KNEE WITH HIS GOOD LEG!!!

Full of adrenaline and the momentum on his side, Trips watches Orton get back up. H meets him with a kick to the gut… PEDIGREE!!!

NO!!! ORTON SPINS OUT…

AND CONNECTS WITH AN INVERTED HEADLOCK BACKBREAKER!!!

It’s a big move from Orton this time, as these two guys are now trading some of their biggest shots. Now it’s Orton’s turn to stalk H, who uses the ropes to pull himself up, before turning towards the middle of the ring… RKO!!!

NO!!! TRIPLE H SHOVES ORTON AWAY!!!

Orton stumbles into the ropes, before turning back and charging at Triple H… H CATCHES ORTON WITH A DOUBLE A SPINEBUSTER!!!

The landing does some damage to H’s knee, he’s forced to grab at his leg. Finally, TRIPLE H CRAWLS INTO A COVER…1…2…NO!!! ORTON GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Not waiting for Orton to get back up on his own accord, ‘The Game’ drags Orton up, and shoves his head between his legs… PEDIGREE!!!

NO!!! ORTON GETS A DOUBLE LEGGED TAKEDOWN…

AND STEPS OVER INTO THE FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK AGAIN!!!

NO!!! TRIPS SNATCHES AN INSIDE CRADLE…1…2… NO!!! ORTON JUST ESCAPES!!!

Both men work to their feet in a hurry, but Orton’s one step ahead… RKO!!!

NO!!! H SHOVES ORTON AWAY YET AGAIN!!!

Orton turns in a hurry, but Trips meets him with a kick to the gut, using his good leg. Orton bends down, grabbing at his gut, trying to catch his breath… H NAILS A DDT!!!

It seems some adrenaline has warned off and exhaustion has kicked in, as both men remain down after the move. Both men slowly try and get to their feet, with Triple H completing the mission first, only to see PRICELESS, CODY RHODES AND TED DIBIASE JUMPING ONTO THE APRON!!!

H reacts quickly, pummelling both men with right hands to send them falling off the apron. The referee steps onto the apron, admonishing the two interfering men, and not realising that MR. KENNEDY has come from the crowd… KENNEDY SLIDES THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP TO ORTON!!!

After yelling a few choice words of his own towards Priceless, TRIPLE H TURNS STRAIGHT INTO THE TITLE TO THE SKULL!!!

Orton quickly slides the title out of the ring; ORTON MAKES THE COVER…

AND OF COURSE THE REFEREE TURNS IN PERFECT TIMING…1…2…NO!!! TRIPS SOMEHOW GOT HIS SHOULDER UP!!!

Getting back to his feet, Orton’s facial expression and eyes suddenly change. It looks as if Orton has entered some sort of trance, as he watches H squirming on the canvas. As Trips makes it to his hands and knees, Orton sprints out of the corner… PUNT KICK!!!

NO!!! H EXPLODES AND TAKES DOWN ORTON WITH A CLOTHESLINE!!!

With Orton down, Triple H struggles to his feet… BUT NOW KENNEDY IS ON THE APRON!!!

H GRABS KENNEDY AND RAMS HIM FACE FIRST INOT THE RING POST… CAUSING HIM TO FALL OFF THE APRON!!!

The fans cheer loudly as Trips is in complete control. He turns just as Orton is back up, and H kicks Orton in the mid-section… PEDIGREE!!!

IT CONNECTS!!!

Unfortunately, it’s a lot of impact on the damaged knee of Hunter, who’s forced to back away ever so slightly. He grabs at his knee, ever so slowly crawling over the top of Orton… TRIPLE H WITH THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! ORTON GETS HIS FOOT ON THE BOTTOM ROPE!!!

The gasps from the audience, followed by the heat is unreal. Nobody can quite believe it, and Triple H looks PISSED OFF. He just fired his best shot and Orton, maybe somewhat luckily, survived. Despite the save, Orton isn’t really moving, so after shaking out his knee, Trips drags Orton back to the centre of the ring… NAILING ANOTHER PEDIGREE!!!

NO!!! ORTON TWISTS OUT…

AND THEN KICKS TRIPLE H RIGHT IN HIS INJURED KNEE!!!

Triple H’s leg gives out entirely; he falls to one knee. He urgently pulls himself up… BUT ORTON POUNCES WITH THE RKO!!!

ORTON HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Randy Orton @ 24:57

The heat is volcanic from the fans as Orton slowly works to his feet, a cheshire cat like grin on his face. The rest of Legacy quickly join him in the ring, applauding their leader, and supporting him to remain on his feet.

As the celebration continues, they notice Triple H using the ropes to pull himself up… ORTON RUNS AND HITS TRIPLE H IN THE HEAD WITH THE TITLE BELT!!!

H drops, almost losing consciousness now, as Orton and Legacy go back to celebrating. In taking this thing full circle, Orton gets hoisted on the shoulders of Legacy, being paraded around as the champion, over the fallen body of Triple H, as the show fades to black…

Well, seeing that I had this saved on a Word doc and didn't get the chance to post the predictions, I'm posting my predictions anyway to see how I fared lol...I'll drop my thoughts underneath each match...

WWE Championship Match:
Randy Orton (c) defends against Triple H
I really thought we would get a DX reunion here, and I could be mistaken and apologize as I haven't followed this as closely as your other projects, maybe HBK has already been involved or got taken out by Orton at some point before? Regardless, I am glad you went with the ending you did. You've continued to book Orton as an absolute monster, getting ALL the revenge on Trips for de-railing his career in 2004. Keep it coming. I love this storyline...

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match:
CM Punk (c) defends against Mr. Kennedy
I didn't think you would switch the title here...man, Kennedy spitting on the Chicago flag is incredible heat! This was a very well written match, as the finish was smooth as hell. For now, Punk retains, while Kennedy still chases...

Six Man Tag Team Match:
Chris Jericho and Priceless vs. John Cena, John Morrison and Rey Mysterio
This was probably the easiest match to predict, as the faces were always winning here. And thinking of it right now, this thread is giving me some serious Wolf Beast vibes, which is awesome. You two are on my Mt. Rushmore of BTB land, so it's no surprise I got lost in this writeup. Great work all around. You're quietly killing it with this thread right now. Don't stop, unless you have some more ECW or PWB lined up for us lol

Just twenty four hours removed from Unforgiven, the show opens and cutting halfway through the ceremonial pyro display to open the show…

***THE GAME***

The music of TRIPLE H hits to a tremendous reaction, as the man who came up short in a title match last night steps through the curtain. Not looking to be in the best of moods, Hunter in a leather jacket and jeans, his badass outfit, as he stomps to the ring and grabs a mic. After cagily circling the ring and awaiting his music to be cut, he begins.

Triple H: I never thought I’d be coming out here tonight to say this, but I need to give Randy Orton credit for wrestling a hell of a match. Hell, he must have had a really good mentor at some point, because I admit my knee is still a bit sore.

It’s a bit tongue in cheek from ‘The Game’, as he stretched out his left leg whilst rubbing the kneecap.

Triple H: Leading up to Unforgiven, I was confident because Orton had never beaten me before, but I guess all good things come to an end. Orton, I want to congratulate you on FINALLY pinning me in a one on one singles match. So congratulations, what an accomplishment, even if it did take you five years and three other guys and the title belt.

A smattering of heat from the fans because HHH was screwed last night. Hunter shows signs of annoyance on his face when mentioning the circumstances of his defeat.

Triple H: You did win, but the way you did it, this isn’t over between us. I want a rematch with Legacy barred from ringside!

The fans pop, agreeing with the request, and it doesn’t take long until…

***VOICES***

The catchy theme hits and the mood changes in the arena. Major heat emanates from the rafters, as the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON steps through the curtain, and maybe somewhat surprisingly, CHRIS JERICHO is by his side. Orton and Jericho remain on the ramp, Hunter shooting them a dirty look, as Orton slowly raises the WWE Title above his head. Orton’s arrogance is on full display, before he grabs himself a mic.

Randy Orton: Hunter, I’m disappointed. After all, you’re the one who taught me to do absolutely anything and everything to win. At the end of the day facts are facts, excuses are not in the record books. Like you said last night, the record books state the facts, and the fact is that you LOST.

Orton and Jericho both smirk, whilst H looks furious, and the fans sound furious.

Randy Orton: Maybe in your old age you’ve forgotten, but this just feels like karma for all you’ve done in the past. What went on last night was nothing in comparison to what Evolution did to help you keep a stranglehold on the title. The issue you have now isn’t with how the match went last night, it’s with the realisation that your time has passed.

‘The Game’ shakes his head in disagreement, as Orton continues on, smug look on his face.

Randy Orton: But if you disagree, I like to think that I’m a reasonable man. Perhaps we can come to some kind of agreement.

Triple H raises his eyebrows, interested.

Randy Orton: Considering how fun last night was for me, I’ll give you a title shot at No Mercy, under one condition. You get the title shot if you can defeat my friend, the man standing next to me, Chris Jericho tonight.

The fans pop for the match as Orton pats Jericho on the back. HHH smirks at the proposal.

Triple H: You’re on.

More cheers.

Randy Orton: Good. And if by some miracle, you wind back the clock and you can get past Jericho, don’t get excited. No Mercy will be the last shot you ever get at the WWE Championship.

Hunter’s nose flares, full of intensity, but he still agrees. Orton almost breathes a sigh of relief.

Randy Orton: You lose; you’re done. You win, you’re done at No Mercy, but Triple H, you’re all that’s left…

There’s a bit of confusion for that statement, so Orton elaborates.

Randy Orton: Think about it for a second. John Cena will NEVER get a shot at this title. That’s a contracted stipulation and after last week’s assault, I’ve scratched another name off the list. CM Punk is in the same category and will never get a shot. Oh and Hunter, Punk isn’t even here tonight to save you.

A wry smirk from Trips but Orton continues on.

Randy Orton: Your old buddy Shawn Michaels is gone for good.

A VERY mixed reaction for the mention of HBK in Canada.

Randy Orton: Our mutual friend, Batista’s been taken out, and my sources tell me he won’t be coming back for a while.

The champion is enjoying his list of victims, the fans not too much.

Randy Orton: Let me think, who else is there? John Morrison?

Orton scoffs.

Randy Orton: Old news. Already beaten him.

One more pause.

Randy Orton: One things for sure after tonight, your time is done, Hunter, and nobody’s going to ever doubt me again.

With that, Orton’s music hits and he and Jericho continue to stare down Triple H. If GM Mike Adamle agrees, it seems we’ve got a big main event scheduled for tonight’s show…

Before heading to a commercial break, we head to the commentary desk so MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER can run down the card for tonight’s show. They announce that Chris Jericho vs. Triple H has been made official, with the stipulation that a victory for Triple H gets him a title shot at No Mercy.

Running through the rest of the card, they also touch on a big Six Man Tag Team match. Bryan Danielson, Paul London and John Cena versus Cody Rhodes, Finaly and William Regal!!!

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

A video package greets our return from the commercial break…

WWE NO MERCY

OCTOBER 4TH, 2009
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA

MELLON ARENA

***

Later on in the night, after making an appearance earlier together, CHRIS JERICHO and WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON are in a locker room. Both the strategists are in the midst of a deep discussion.

Randy Orton: You know you’ve got a title shot in waiting, I’ve given you my word. But we need to clear the field to make that happen. You need to hurt Triple H and win, but not completely eliminate him. That’s for me to do, leave him still moving.

Jericho nods confidently.

Chris Jericho: I’ve taken Triple H out before; it should be simple. He can’t even walk, given that he has a bad leg, imagine the agony when I lock in The Walls Of Jericho. Tonight’s match is in the bag because I’m the best in the world at what I do.

Jericho doesn’t notice but Orton tilts his head ever so slightly, looking at Jericho differently after that final statement. Before Orton can say anything, the locker room door opens and the light from the hallway is quickly covered by the hulking VLADIMIR KOSLOV. Koslov looks as menacing as ever, with Orton and Jericho both greeting him with polite smiles.

Randy Orton: Hey, Vladimir, uh, thanks for coming. We are pleased to discuss business with you.

As Orton invites Koslov to step further into the room, Jericho points at the camera man.

Chris Jericho: As for you, get out of here…

Jericho steps forward and ushers the camera man out. We don’t get to hear any of the conversation with Koslov, as the locker room door is quickly slammed shut…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, there’s an ECW promo that this BTB doesn’t care about prior to the next match commencing…

Match Three
Bryan Danielson, John Cena and Paul London vs. Cody Rhodes, Finlay and William Regal

This one starts off with Cena and Rhodes surprisingly taking a backseat, remaining on the apron. Instead the two tag teams go at it tooth and nail, with Danielson and London particularly aggressive. On commentary, they note that Danielson and London, the former tag team champions are furious, as Regal and Finlay cheated to steal the titles at Unforgiven last night.

Once Cena gets tagged in for the first time, he’s worked up in his own right. Cena dominates each member of the opposition that he comes across with his power. Eventually Cena traps Regal in the ring with him, beating him down, before making tags with Danielson and London so they can get a piece as well.

The trio operate as a unit, working on the left arm of Regal, before London gets especially vicious. Danielson tags in and he and London prepare a double team move… WHEN FINLAY ATTACKS DANIELSON FROM BEHIND!!!

NO!!! LONDON CUTS FINLAY OFF WITH A SPINNING WHEEL KICK!!!

Dazed and confused, Finlay has no choice to roll underneath the bottom rope, bailing to the outside. Sensing a chance to get involved, Cody steps into the ring, but Cena pre-empted it… CENA RUNS THROUGH CODY… CLOTHESLINING HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE FLOOR!!!

With Finlay and Cody on the outside, Regal is left alone with the opposing trio. He’s in trouble when Finlay desperately grabs his arm and pulls Regal to safely. The heels convene on the outside, but it only lasts a moment or two… WHEN LONDON TAKES THEM ALL OUT WITH A FLIPPING SENTON!!!

The high risk move gets a big pop from the fans. Fuelled by adrenaline, London jumps to his feet, and the faces are well and truly on top as we cut to commercials.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Back from the break and the action is back inside the ring, and Regal is still in trouble. The faces have continued to work over the arm during the break, and Cena is currently in control. As Cena starts wringing the arm of Regal, the Brit cleverly backs Cena into the corner, where Finlay attempts to grab at Cena... Cena saw it coming though and quickly turned, and punched Finlay in the jaw, knocking him off the apron.

As Cena looked down at Finlay with disdain… CODY DROPKICKS CENA IN THE BACK OUT OF NOWHERE…

SENDING HIM TUMBLING THROUGH THE ROPES AND NEXT TO FINLAY!!!

Cody is admonished by the referee, and he quickly heads back to the apron. Regal now demands the referees attention, wanting his arm checked, and with the referee distracted, a furious Finlay stomps away at Cena. After rubbing his jaw, the fighting Irishman picks Cena up… AND RAMS HIM FACE FIRST INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

Just like that, the heels take over. Cena gets rolled back inside and the tag champs and Cody get an incredible rub, isolating and dominating the top babyface in the entire company. Of course, Cena has little spurts of offense, but the heels cheat together to stop those from becoming a major issue.

Cena started to show more and more fight; however Cody continuously pushed him back into his teams corner. Finally, Cena exploded and sent Cody into Cena’s teams corner instead. A fired up Cena battered Cody with right hands in the corner, before making the hot tag to Paul London. London stepped into the ring, only to realise that the tag champs had thrown the rulebook out, both Finlay and Regal entering to approach him.

Danielson notices steps in… DANIELSON AND LONDON LAND STEREO DROPKICKS ON FINLAY AND REGAL!!!

Not being the legal man, Finlay rolls out after Danielson’s feet connect with his chin. As Finlay tries to shake out the cobwebs… DANIELSON TAKES HIM OUT WITH A TOPE SUICIDA!!!

Inside the ring, London continues to focus on Regal… LANDING A DROPSAULT!!!

With Regal momentarily taken care of, London turns his attention back to the legal man… STANDING MOONSAULT CONNECTS ON CODY!!!

The fans are cheering loudly for the fast paced offense of London, and it only gets louder as Cena bounces off the ropes… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE TO RHODES!!!

As Cena lands the move, London has ascended up to the top rope, but before he can leap off, Finlay is back on the apron and grabbing London’s feet. An irritated Cena immediately charges over, and punches Finlay, knocking him off the apron again. This time Finlay expected it and absorbed the blow, landing on his feet, where Danielson greets him. Danielson and Finlay recommence their brawl on the outside.

Meanwhile, inside the ring, before Cena can turn back to the centre… REGAL RUNS AT HIM AND HITS A KNEE TO THE BACK…

SENDING CENA STUMBLING THROUGH THE ROPES AND TO THE OUTSIDE FOR THE SECOND TIME TONIGHT!!!

All the shenanigans have cleared up London on the top rope, and he sees Regal approaching. London leaps off the top… FLYING TORNADO DDT!!!

It takes a moment or two after the high impact move, but London gets up… ONLY FOR CODY TO GRAB HIM FROM BEHIND…

BLUE THUNDER DRIVER!!!

WHICH WILL NOW BE KNOWN AS THE DEAD END RHODES!!!

CODY HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…3!!!

Winners: Cody Rhodes, Finlay and William Regal @ 18:45

There’s a smattering of heat from the fans, but there is more a sense of shock that the team with Cena involved lost. Cody quickly rolls out of the ring, joining the tag champs on the outside and the heels celebrate as they make their way up the ramp. As replays are shown, the commentary team put over Cody’s new finisher, whilst Cena and Danielson check on London inside of the ring…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

After the break, we saw the lonesome figure of TRIPLE H, getting some additional tape applied to his left knee by a WWE doctor ahead of tonight’s main event…

Now we skip forward to later on in the night…

Match Four
Rey Mysterio vs. Vladimir Koslov w/Randy Orton

It’s clear right from the get-go to see what the strategy is from Mysterio here, as he attempts to stick and move as much as he can. The masked man knows if he’s to get trapped by Koslov he could be in trouble. Despite peppering him with strikes, Koslov won’t go down, so Rey starts kicking at the knee instead. He lands a few shots, but yet again, Koslov limps, but doesn’t go down. As Vladimir bends down to rub his leg, Rey uses the opportunity to run off the ropes, but then Koslov nearly decapitates him with a hard Clothesline!

That’s all it takes is that one high impact shot and now Koslov in in complete control of his much smaller opponent. Koslov dominates the former World Heavyweight Champion, almost toying with him at times, whilst Randy Orton takes the opportunity to constantly mock Mysterio from outside the ring. After throwing Mysterio around the ring some more, Koslov sends Rey to the corner and then charges in afterwards, but Rey dodges the charge, and Koslov crashes into the turnbuckles!

Koslov rebounds out of the corner but Rey is there to meet him with more kicks to the legs. This time the kicks to the left knee cause Koslov to collapse to one knee as his left leg gives out. Rey immediately climbs up to the top rope, just as Koslov gets back to his feet… CROSSBODY OFF THE TOP FROM REY!!!

NO!!! KOSLOV CATCHES HIM…

AND DRILLS HIM WITH A POWERSLAM!!!

There’s almost a look of annoyance on Koslov’s face, as he wastes no time dragging Rey back up. He throws Rey up onto his shoulder, and begins running across the ring… RUNNING POWERSLAM!!!

NO!!! REY SLIDES DOWN BEHIND KOSLOV...

AND LANDS A DROPKICK TO THE BACK!!!

Koslov stumbles forward, losing his footing and ends up hanging over the middle rope. This allows Rey to dial it up… 619!!!

Koslov drops to the canvas like he’s been shot… ORTON PANICS AND TRIES TO GRAB AT REY’S FOOT…

BUT MYSTERIO KICKS ORTON AWAY…

SPRINGBOARD FLYING SPLASH ONTO KOSLOV!!!

REY STAYS ON TOP FOR THE PIN…1…2…NO!!! KOSLOV KICKS OUT WITH AUTHORITY…

SENDING MYSTERIO FLYING ACROSS THE RING!!!

Rey is in shock, putting his hands on his head, wondering what he can try next. Suddenly, the fans begin to boo as CHRIS JERICHO runs down the ramp, and climbs onto the apron… MYSTERIO NAILS JERICHO WITH A ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

Jericho tumbles to the floor… ONLY FOR REY TO TURN RIGHT INTO THE GOD DAMN HEADBUTT TO THE CHEST!!!

KOSLOV MAKES THE COVER…1…2…3!!!

Winner: Vladimir Koslov @ 5:33

The fans aren’t happy as it’s another win for the heels tonight. Koslov has his hand raised by the official before intimidating the referee out of the ring. Koslov remains stoic, standing strong in victory, when CHRIS JERICHO SLIDES INTO THE RING AND STARTS ATTACKING MYSTERIO!!!

With Jericho stomping all over Mysterio to the dismay of the fans, Koslov pays the attack no attention. Instead, Koslov gets a mic.

Vladimir Koslov: This not enough. I want more competition…

Koslov drops the mic as the WWE Champion Randy Orton joints him in the ring. Orton shakes Koslov’s hand, as does Jericho, and with that out the way, the big man leaves the ring. Orton and Jericho stand tall in the ring, Jericho no longer beating on Mysterio, as officials have come down to help Mysterio to the back.

As Orton and Jericho stand in the ring, Koslov continues to slowly make his way up the ramp when…,

***THE GAME***

For the second time tonight, the epic theme music hits, and now dressed to wrestle, TRIPLE H steps through the curtain. After the initial big pop, the reaction changes as Triple H doesn’t get to perform he’s usual theatrics, instead coming face to face with Koslov. The two stare each other down, neither willing to budge… WHEN KOSLOV SHOVES TRIPLE H!!!

Not one to be intimidated, HUNTER SHOVES KOSLOV BACK…

AND NOW TRIPLE H AND KOSLOV ERUPT INTO A BRAWL ON THE RAMP!!!

They swing wildly, before tackling each other, both men tumbling on the ramp. The brawl continues as security, officials and referees are back out to try and pry the two men apart.

After what feels like an eternity, security gets the two men apart, although they are both still trying to break free. With things a little more under control, RAW GENERAL MANAGER MIKE ADAMLE steps through the curtain with a mic.

Adamle looks furious as he simply points at Hunter, signalling that he needs to go meet Jericho in the ring. Meanwhile, for Koslov, Adamle doesn’t want to get as close and has a mic.

Mike Adamle: Vladimir, I order you to get to the back right now. You’ve done enough damage tonight.

Koslov snarls and does what he’s told, slowly heading through the curtain, closely followed by a barrage of security. Meanwhile, Triple H heads towards the ring, after all the chaos, he’s got a main event to compete in after the break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

When we return from the break, both CHRIS JERICHO and TRIPLE H are in the ring and ready for the main event. Interestingly enough, RANDY ORTON has remained at ringside, but also been joined by CODY RHODES, MR. KENNEDY and TED DIBIASE. The entire group known as LEGACY are at ringside for this one…

Thanks to interference from DiBiase, who received a DDT from Triple H for this troubles, Chris Jericho defeated Triple H with the Codebreaker after 17 minutes.

After the match, Jericho starts celebrating and the fans are furious. Jericho doesn’t celebrate on his own for long, as Cody and Orton join him in the ring. As Orton pats Jericho on the back, congratulating him, Rhodes helps his tag partner, DiBiase back to his feet.

Kennedy is no longer at ringside after brawling to the back with John Morrison during the match. The rest of the men start stomping all over Triple H, before they drag him up… PRICELESS DRILL TRIPLE H WITH THE MILLION DOLLAR BAILOUT!!!

The attack isn’t over though as Orton and Jericho continue to be relentless, stomping all over Triple H. Hunter has no help once again, as Orton demands Priceless bring Trips to his feet and when they do… ORTON NAILS TRIPLE H WITH AN RKO!!!

HHH remains facedown on the canvas, not moving, when Orton decides he needs a mic.

Randy Orton: Look at this pathetic shell of a man as an example right now. This is what’s going to happen to anyone who tries to stop me.

It’s short and sharp from Orton, who signals to Legacy and Jericho and looks prepared to leave. He steps one leg through the ropes, when he notices that Triple H is struggling but trying to get to his feet. Seeing this, Orton looks irritated, stepping back inside of the ring.

Randy Orton: Seriously? I’ve had just about enough of you.

Orton walks to the opposite of the ring, motioning with his hands for everybody to stay out of his path. Orton stomps his foot; we all know what time it is... Hunter gets to his knees… ORTON CHARGES FORWARD AND NAILS THE PUNT!!!

NO!!! ORTON GETS TACKLED DOWN TO THE MAT BEFORE HE CAN LAND…

BY SHAWN MICHAELS!!!

The fans go NUTS for the surprise appearance of Michaels. Wearing jeans and a t-shirt, HBK winds back the clock, meeting both Cody and Jericho with right hands. Suddenly, DiBiase runs at Michaels, but is seen out of the corner of his eye… SWEET CHIN MUSIC TO DIBIASE!!!

Noticing that Jericho is back to his feet, Michaels grabs Jericho and throws him outside of the ring. Now Cody is back up, so Michaels starts peppering him with right hands… UNTIL ORTON ATTACKS MICHAELS FROM BEHIND!!!

NO!!! SHAWN SIDESTEPS ORTON AND SENDS HIM SMASHING INTO CODY!!!

MICHAELS NOW DROPS CODY WITH SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

Finally, Michaels now gets his hands on Orton, landing a few punches… WHEN JERICHO COMES FROM BEHIND AND GRABS AT THE EYE OF MICHAELS WHICH HE PREVIOUSLY INJURED…

NO!!!

Shawn shrugs Jericho off… AND DRILLS HIM WITH SOME SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!

Michaels is fired up, getting a huge pop, followed by chants of “HBK”. Michaels now turns his attention back towards Orton, who has fled up the ramp, with the WWE Title in his hands. The fans go apeshit, loving the return of HBK, who lets Orton know he’s coming for him, before checking on Triple H.

With Michaels checking on Triple H, the last shot we get is of a concerned Orton, clutching his title close as the show fades to black…

September 21st, 2009
Little Rock, Arkansas

This week’s edition of Raw gets a more traditional opening. Post the opening video package, we get the epic pyro display, as well as the cameras panning around the arena, showing the fans excitedly jumping up and down, making as much noise as possible. Our commentary team welcome us to the show, and as the smoke starts to settle after the pyro…

***SEXY BOY***

The audience ERUPTS as the man who has barely been seen in the last twelve bounces down the ramp. SHAWN MICHAELS is all smiles, in jeans and a ‘HBK’ t-shirt, happy to slap hands with the fans until he reaches ringside. Once in the ring, Michaels motions bowing down to the fans, impressed with the ovation, before waiting for it to halt so he can be heard.

Shawn Michaels: Wow, first of all, ole HBK just wants to thank everyone. I want to say thank you all from the bottom of my heart for sticking by me. In the last year, I haven’t really been around. I’ve wrestled all of one match, and that match, it wasn’t even sanctioned.

Shawn paces around the ring, thinking over his next words carefully. The fans bust out a ‘HBK’ chant, so pleased to have him back.

Shawn Michaels: After all the injuries, all the heart ache, all the strain on my family, after WrestleMania, I thought I was done. I wanted to live a quiet life and recover. I was dead as Orton said last week, but well doing that, I began to realise that for one, my eye was pretty much healed since July or so. And as for number two, what I realised is that ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ is not supposed to live a quiet life.

Michaels grins, enjoying another big pop from the fans.

Shawn Michaels: Those realisations then lead me to the two reasons why I’m back. I came back not only to save my best friend from being put on the shelf, but I also came back to accomplish something that I haven’t in quite a while. I came back because I want the WWE Championship!

Another huge reaction from the fans, who seem happy with the idea of HBK chasing gold. Before Shawn can say much else though…

***VOICES***

The return promo of Shawn Michaels is interrupted by the man he stopped from taking out Triple H last week, the WWE CHAMPION RANDY ORTON. Of course, Orton isn’t out alone, the remainer of LEGACY, consisting of CODY RHODES, MR. KENNEDY and TED DIBIASE are by his side. Wearing a befuddled look on his face, Orton decides to remain on the stage to speak to HBK.

Randy Orton: I’m happy for you, Shawn. I’m happy you found your purpose, I guess you could say I’m happy you found your smile, but that means nothing when it comes to the WWE Championship. You get no title shot because you haven’t done anything to earn it. Like you said, you haven’t won a match in forever because you’ve been gone for a year plus.

Legacy are smiles, feeling like they have the upper hand, but even Michaels has a cocky smirk on his face. Before he can respond though…

***TO BE LOVED***

All the wrestlers involved roll their eyes, as the fans give a mixed reaction for the arrival of RAW GENERAL MANAGER MIKE ADAMLE. The GM steps out onto the stage, standing adjacent to Legacy, and he gives them a curt nod.

Mike Adamle: Let’s not be so hasty to remove any potential challengers, Randy. I mean this is Shawn Michaels, the inventor of the ladder a match, a multiple time WWE Champion, a grand slam champion no less, his resume speaks for itself. And well, due to your actions there is currently no number one contender since Triple H did not win last week. That was the agreement and it rules Triple H out, but I see no reason to deny HBK a shot.

Orton clenches his jaw, unhappy, whilst Michaels looks pleasantly surprised.

Mike Adamle: Therefore, I have made a decision. Tonight’s main event would be a four way number one contenders match. In that match, it will be Shawn Michaels against CM Punk, against John Morrison, and this fourth man is very fitting. Shawn, the fourth man is the man you can thank for your year plus absence, the man who beat Triple H last week, Chris Jericho!

Again, Michaels is happy with having to earn it. The fans cheer loudly for what’s sure to be a blockbuster main event tonight, leaving only Legacy displeased…

At the commentary table, MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER hype the just announced main event, as well as John Cena vs. Ted DiBiase which is also scheduled for tonight’s show. On that note, we cut to our first break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-
Later on in the night, already dressed in his tights and ready for the main event is the WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION CM PUNK. Punk looks composed ahead of the huge opportunity, standing in a random hallway with nobody else around.

CM Punk: As much as he’s trying everything do it, Randy Orton can’t keep everyone from getting a title shot. That’s not the way this business is supposed to work and that’s why tonight, finally, I’m going to get mine.

The champ nods along with his own words, confidently believing every single one of them.

CM Punk: I’m not here to cater for fairytales. With all due respect to the glorious story of Shawn Michaels’ return, I don’t care. Just two weeks ago, I made a statement of my own. I laid out the WWE Champion, and as far as I’m concerned, I’ve proven all year that I’m the best in the world. I’ve proven not only can the Go To Sleep beat Randy Orton, which it definitely can, but it can beat anyone.

Punk then walks out of shot, sounding ready for the huge opportunity in tonight’s main event…

A little later on in the show, another competitor in tonight’s main event stands where Punk was in the previous segment. This time it’s JOHN MORRISON, wearing his wrestling pants and fur coat, also looking prepared.

John Morrison: At Summerslam, I earned the right to wear the WWE Championship, and I got a taste of what that feels like. Holding the WWE Title for only twenty four hours, it’s made me even hungrier. It’s only made me want it even more.

The desire flashes across Morrison’s face as he pauses to take a breath.

John Morrison: Just like at Summerslam, I know If I can get another match against Randy Orton, history would repeat itself and I will walk out with the belt.

Short and sharp from Morrison as we cut to our next break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break, our cameras pick up inside the locker room of LEGACY. CODY RHODES and TED DIBIASE are leaving the locker room to head to the ring, but RANDY ORTON, MR. KENNEDY and Legacy associate, CHRIS JERICHO remain.

Randy Orton: Chris, last week you had an impressive win over Triple H, and it’s important you follow that up again tonight. You need to win, not only to fast track our agreement and get a title shot, but you deserve revenge. Remember how Michaels embarrassed you on the biggest WWE pay per view of all time?

Jericho has a determined look on his face, cracking his knuckles as he looks up to meet Orton’s stare.

Chris Jericho: I know what I need to do. I am going to destroy Shawn Michaels tonight, but let me make something perfectly clear. I’m not doing it for you; I couldn’t care any less about you. I’m doing it because personally, for closure, I have to.

Jericho is almost in a trance at this point, focused for the main event. Orton watches him closely, unsure what to think, before we cut to ringside for our next match…

Match Three
John Cena vs. Ted DiBiase w/Cody Rhodes

They start things off with a basic Lock Up, and almost immediately Cena seizes the control. The veteran knows the importance of a good start, but also has the strength advantage. Cena really bullies DiBiase around the ring in the opening moments, crushing his head and neck with a Side Headlock as he does so. Getting frustrated, DiBiase lands some elbows to the mid-section of Cena, causing the multiple time WWE Champion to break his grip.

Angry with how the match has started, DiBiase now resorts to right hands to press the advantage. After landing a few shots though, Cena fires back with some shots of his own, and it isn’t long before Cena wins the slugfest exchange as well. It really does look like there’s levels to this in the early stages, with DiBiase struggling to mount any sustained offence on Cena.

Getting desperate, DiBiase raked the eyes of Cena, finally stopping him in his tracks. From there, DiBiase is able to clover Cena with shots, sending him down to the canvas. Ted stays on Cena, keeping him briefly grounded, until Cena starts pushing past Ted’s offense and getting back to his feet. Cena connects with a few more right hands, rocking Ted, before landing a Drop Toe Hold… WHICH CENA IMMEDIATELY TRANSITIONS INTO THE STFU!!!

NO!!! DIABIASE SQUIRMS FREE AND ROLLS UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

The fans boo the escape of DiBiase, who immediately huddles up with Cody, discussing strategy. Meanwhile, showing all the composure in the world, the dominant Cena waits in the ring, letting the heels do what they need to do without being overzealous. With Cena cockily sitting on the middle rope, inviting Ted back in, we cut to a break.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Returning from the break and DiBiase is back inside of the ring, but Cena isn’t. Instead he’s on the outside… CENA RUNS THROUGH CODY WITH A CLOTHESLINE ON THE FLOOR!!!

Our commentary team try and mention that Cody got involved during the break… WHEN TEG GRABS CENA FROM BEHIND… AND SHOVES HIM STRAIGHT INTO THE RING STEPS!!!

Cena takes a huge bump into the steps and from this point on, DiBiase takes over. The son of the original Million Dollar Man takes Cena back inside of the ring, and focuses all of his offense on the head and neck area. Living true to his motto, Cena never gives up, showing tremendous resilience despite the onslaught.

DiBiase doesn’t relent though, eventually pulling Cena to his feet and sending him into the corner. DiBiase charges in after him, but runs straight into a boot to the jaw. The blow sends Ted staggering backwards and Cena immediately starts rocking him with haymakers. Cena runs through DiBiase with three Clotheslines in a row… FOLLOWED BY A FLYING SHOULDERBLOCK!!!

With all the momentum in the world, Cena drags DiBiase up and looks to Irish Whip him into the corner… No. DiBiase reverses and pulls Cena back into a Clothesline of his own. After the impressive counter, DiBiase stalks Cena, waiting for him to get up and when he does… DIBIASE LOCKS IN THE MILLION DOLLAR DREAM!!!

NO!!! CENA SPINS OUT AND GOES BEHIND DIBIASE…

AND THEN DRILLS HIM WITH A PROTOBOMB!!!

Getting back to his feet, smirking at the ovation from the fans, Cena starts pumping up his shoes. He then bounces off the ropes… FIVE KNUCKLE SHUFFLE!!!

The crowd is getting louder, anticipating the ending, as now Cena waits for DiBiase to get up, and when he does… FU!!!

NO!!! TED LANDS SOME ELBOWS TO THE TEMPLE… BREAKING FREE!!!

After swivelling off of Cena and landing behind him… DIBIASE HITS THE MILLION DOLLAR SWEEPSTAKES!!!

TED HOOKS THE LEG…1…2…NO!!! CENA GETS A SHOULDER UP!!!

Frustration is written all over the face of DiBiase, but he takes a breath and refocuses. He drags Cena up and yells for Cena to enter “DREAM STREET”. DIBIASE LOCKS IN THE MILLION DOLLAR DREAM!!!

NO!!! CENA USES HIS FREE ARM TO BLOCK DIBIASE FROM LOCKING HANDS AND COMPLETING THE HOLD!!!

Cena manages to shove Ted away, and when DiBiase eagerly approaches Cena again, Cena gets a Drop Toe Hold… BEFORE STEPPING STRAIGHT INTO THE STFU!!!

Cena wrenches back on the hold hard, and Ted screams in pain… UNTIL CODY COMES IN AND STARTS STOMPING ALL OVER CENA TO BREAK THE HOLD!!!

This happens right in front of the referee, who has no choice but to call for the disqualification.

Winner: John Cena @ 15:24

The bell rings, and there’s heat from the fans, but the attack doesn’t stop. Cody stays on Cena; however Cena begins to fight back. He gets to his feet and lands a few right hands on Cody… CENA GET CODY UP FOR THE FU!!!

NO!!! DIBIASE ATTACKS CENA FROM BEHIND!!!

Now both members of Priceless beat down Cena together… UNTIL JOHN MORRISON SLIDES INTO THE RING!!!

Morrison tees off on both Cody and Ted with kicks and forearms, doing tremendously well with the numbers disadvantage. Cody backs up against the ropes… ALLOWING CENA TO CLOTHESLINE CODY OVER THE TOP ROPE AND TO THE OUTSIDE!!!

Meanwhile, Morrison sends DiBiase into the corner and runs in after him… BIG CORNER KNEE CONNECTS!!!

Before Morrison can drag DiBiase out of the corner, Cody trips Ted up and pulls him to safety. Outside the ring, Priceless retreat up the ramp, looking furious. Inside the ring, Cena thanks Morrison before the two of them stand tall in the ring…

Inside a locker room in the back, TRIPLE H watches his best friend SHAWN MICHAELS prepare for tonight’s main event. H sighs, looking slightly concerned.

Triple H: Shawn, are you sure? Are you ready for tonight?

The seriousness of his friend is noted by Michaels, who smirks and puts a calming hand on H’s shoulder.

Shawn Michaels: First of all, you’re talking to ‘The Showstopper’. I’ve got this. Second of all, I’m the one who taught you about asking people if they’re ready.

It’s a tongue in cheek response from Michaels, and one that ever so slightly lowers the tension in the room. HBK barely notices, going back to his preparation as the show cuts to commercials.

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

A video package greets our return from the commercial break…

WWE NO MERCY

OCTOBER 4TH, 2009
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA
MELLON ARENA

***

Later on, we switched to the commentary table, MICHAEL COLE and JERRY ‘THE KING’ LAWLER made the announcement that on Monday October 26th, there will be a three hour edition of Raw titled ‘HOMECOMING 2009’. The episode will see actions from all three brands (but obviously, realistically, I’ll only be writing the stuff focused on Orton, Cena, Punk).

***VOICES***

For the second time tonight, the arena is engulfed in heat as the RANDY ORTON saunters down the ramp. Wearing the WWE Championship around his waist, Orton walks around the ring, and situates himself at the commentary desk. When quizzed as to why he’s there, Orton said he felt like it was pretty logical that he’d want to see his next number one contender up close. With that out of the way, we cut to a break…

-COMMERCIAL BREAK-

Match Five

Number One Contenders Match
Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk vs. John Morrison vs. Shawn Michaels

There was a forced pair off right away as Jericho was eager to go right after Michaels as the bell rung. Shawn was more than happy to oblige and renew their old feud, the hatred between the two seeping through their bodies. The ring was unable to contain them, and they quickly went out to the floor, continuing their brawl. Meanwhile, inside of the ring, in what seemed like a completely different match, Punk and Morrison engaged in some mat wrestling.

Eventually they scramble back to their feet after breaking even in the chain wrestling department. Morrison tried to start throwing kicks at Punk, but Punk returned serve and was better at it, winning the kicking exchange. As Punk was getting the advantage inside the ring, on the outside, JERICHO RAMMED MICHAELS FACE FIRST INTO THE RING POST!!!

Jericho gets up wearing a devilish smirk, he’s the only man standing, until Michaels gets back in the ring. The fans erupt as the two rivals start exchanging hard right hands. They continue to trade shots, until Jericho lands a few in a row, gaining the advantage. Jericho then whips Michaels into the ropes… FLYING FOREARM FROM MICHAELS!!!

All four men are down in what has been a hard hitting contest so far… WHEN MICHAELS KIPS UP!!!

The fans are losing their minds as Michaels takes turns nailing all three opponents with right hands, keeping them all down. Punk athletically, yet sloppily lands on his feet after the kick and he’s right back on Kennedy. He picks him up and after a few right hands… PUNK THROWS KENNEDY INTO THE RINGPOST!!!

CM Punk was just cost a shot at the WWE Title and he’s irate. With Kennedy down, Punk shakes away the rage and climbs back onto the apron. Jericho charges at him from inside the ring, but Punk meets him with a huge knee to the gut.
