When I say job I mean full time , without going to school. I started working summers at 14, but I don't think kids should drop out to work full time. There are enough idiots in the world as it is.

If kids were considered adults at a younger age, they would be able to work sooner, move out of their parents house sooner, go to college sooner and retire sooner. People are being forced into waiting into their 70's to retire. Wouldn't you rather retire in your 40's?

I still believe in a life is a life
Crayo said:So you can start enjoying life at 40? Nope, I agree with what the statuesque is currently. Some of the most crucial years of development physically, mentally, and socially are in the teenage years (14-19).
I think the problem is not enough younger people working which results in older people having to retire later. I don't think having them grow up faster will help that.
Most kids don't have the knowledge of an adult by 14. That is false. A more correct statement would be they think they do. The reason for the larger amount of teenage pregnancies is lack of education on the subject combined with girls thinking it is a fitting teenage rebellionBritanica said:Its a double standard though. What kids are exposed to these days, most have the knowledge of an adult by 14. Many of them are having kids before they even graduate high school. I just don't agree with the system. I am not saying you have to start enjoying life after you retire, you can enjoy life now but the way the world is, you have to have money and the younger you are able to have your own income the better off life will be for you. Its hard to be a parent right now because not enough kids are getting jobs before they are 18, other ones go straight to college without even having had a job... I don't know. Alls I am saying is there should be an option, it the kid and the parent agree upon it.

If they had the knowledge of an adult before 18 they would know the amount of time, money and care that would have to be invested into a child and would realize they are nowhere near capable of providing that to their offspring and would thus postpone having children until they are ready.
Britanica said:Having children between 14 and 19 is way more common then people think.
Britanica said:Prolonging adult hood is never a good thing. You end up with careless and reckless adults. Maybe I am just saying this because I grew up fast but if a boy and girl know how to have sex and enjoy it, they should be able to get jobs. Its like telling a 14 year old kid who already has a baby they can't be an adult yet. Having children between 14 and 19 is way more common then people think.

Sit her down and show her an uncensored video of child birth. That'll scare her straight.Britanica said:Its sad really. My niece is 15 and she's been possibly having sex since she was 12 or 13. I just pray she don't end up pregnant. Its like girls do it to be appealing to guys and guys do it to be cool but as boys become men, they don't want loose girls, they want untouched women.

Stopspot said:By law you are legally an adult when you can be tried as one (In Sweden that is at 15) but that does not necessarily mean that a person is mentally prepared to be one, thus they must be eased into adulthood. Summer or part time jobs, drivers license at 18 (In Sweden) access to legal narcotics and alcohol (beer and smokes) at 18 (In Sweden) and the ability to purchase hard liqueur at 20 (In Sweden). It is a system that works well here. We have irresponsible adults and youths yes but overall our kids are well behaved because as they get older you start handing them more and more responsibilities once they prove that they can handle it. Which in my opinion is a safe and smart way to see if your child is ready to be treated as an adult. You act like a kid? Then I'm going to treat you like one. You're able to prove that you can be mature? Okay I'll let you start taking driving classes.
