In some ways they're actually being more faithful to the books now, they're not as scared of silly things like they don't cut out part of the kings title in the house of the dragon show that they did in game of thrones bc in 2011 when it came out they thought that was just too much to say

I was actually down on the house of the dragon history stuff at first when that was all he was releasing instead of new books but after watching the show I appreciate them more

Haven't watched that show yet. Not sure I will anytime soon either... but you certainly make it seem worth it

But it's actually crazy reading the first game of thrones book again bc outside of minor things like that, the first book matches up almost scene by scene to the first season of the show

I mean the last season sucked but they didn't know how to end it and had already been working without book material for years so it's whatever to me but most of it is amazing

It was also a lot easier for me to read the books bc I watched the show first so I could visualize the characters better but that might just be a me thing lol

house of the dragon at least has the history already written bc it's set in the past so it's easier for writers to take liberties to get to the end point they don't need him to write out the details if that makes sense

The game of thrones story is technically present so he actually needs to decide what happens next. He's already written the past and that's what these spinoffs are

So it's actually probably pretty sweet for the writers bc they can just decide how to get from point a to point b however
