ECW 2006: Revolutionize the Internet

ECW To Revive in Weekly Online Live Stream
Shane McMahon & Paul Heyman Heading Revival

To Premiere June 13th, 2006

News has broken just after the confirmation of the return of ECW’s One Night Stand: WWE.com will begin streaming new live weekly content of the revolutionary revival of ECW.

Shane McMahon - Executive Vice President of Global Media and son of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon - is working alongside Paul Heyman - apart of the original Extreme Championship Wrestling and current Ohio Valley Wrestling booker - to bring back the rule-bending weekly wrestling series.

McMahon has been a big supporter in ECW since the original launch when he wanted to buy the company in 2000. Now, due to the overall success of last year’s One Night Stand, his dreams come true. Shane McMahon has said that contact was made with several former ECW stars to re-appear in this online only experience. He is on record that he wants to use relaunch as not only an alternative from Raw and Smackdown , but a way to introduce new talent through WWE’s development territory in a completely different setting.

Shane McMahon pinpointed major differences from what can be seen from ECW compared to Raw and Smackdown. Contracted referees are following looser rules meaning disqualifications and count outs are to their discretion. He also made it known that himself and Heyman are more than welcoming to the idea of Raw or Smackdown stars joining their show.

Paul Heyman - acting as representative - has been very vocal about a second chance to bring back the company.

Paul Heyman’s work as the Head of Ohio Valley Wrestling to produce the future stars for the company meaning we will see plenty of stars groomed by Heyman himself. Along with that, Deep South Wrestling - WWE’s second developmental territory - has sent some of their stars to Ohio with the possibility of Heyman bringing some guys from there to ECW.

With all of that, Paul Heyman has announced that he will be returning to television when ECW premieres on the 13th of June.

Welcome back brother! Great to see you back with a new project. You've chosen a really intriguing period. I'm a sucker for a good WWECW project. Right off the bat I love the concept of the online stream and love the "Revival" name. Plus, it's always fun to use Shane as the boss because you can throw him into any type of match and it works.

Really excited to see what you have cooked up. Best of luck writing!

Very nice simple twist on this WWECW by making it Internet streaming. This allows you so much more creative freedom to make it more ECW than third brand taped with SD. Both in terms of the style of the shows and roster, but also booking decisions too. Excited to see what the roster is and how this goes!!

Always excited to see a Rasky project pop up and WWECW is a fun one to tackle. Shane as the boss is interesting but glad to see Paul Heyman still involved as well as that is needed. Now sign and push Mike Awesome like he should've been after One Night Stand!

Echoing what others have said, it's great to have you back with another BTB. ECW 2006 is an awesome time period because you literally have a blank canvas with this online streaming approach. This could be anything. Excited to see what you've got in store for us, and of course, good luck.

I CANNOT wait for this to get started.

I don’t think anyone has ever properly done a BTB on the ECW 2006 revival, so I’m intrigued as how you’ll book this.

In my view, the 2006 ECW revival is one of the top 3 biggest missed opportunities in WWE history, so this should be a fantastic read.

Preview of ECW One Night Stand 2006
From Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, New York

WWE Championship Match
Rob Van Dam challenges John Cena
Rob Van Dam is believed to be the catalyst of last year's One Night Stand event. Van Dam missed action from reconstructive knee surgery when he said that missing last year's One Night Stand was worse than missing Wrestlemania. That quote might just be the thing that pushed Van Dam to not only being at both events this year's, but being the main event of One Night Stand this year.

The Money in the Bank match brought Edge to stardom early last year when he won his first World Championship and earned his nickname "The Ultimate Opportunist". Rob Van Dam is using the Money in the Bank contract in a different way this year - to call his shot versus John Cena at the second One Night Stand Event. Van Dam spoke highly of John Cena and his work so far, but he wants the moment that he did not get last year.

Cena openly acknowledged Rob Van Dam as one of the most innovative and respected competitors, but promised that respect would not stop him from walking directly into hostile territory and leaving New York with the WWE Championship still around his waist.

John Cena has the pressure of defending not only the championship - but the entire WWE. Can Rob Van Dam re-write last year? Can John Cena stand out versus the hardcore ECW fans? Who can leave the Hammerstein Ballroom as WWE Champion?!

Wrestlemania Rematch
If Mick Foley Loses, He Will Quit
Mick Foley versus Edge

Wrestlemania 22 changed the careers and, dare we say, lives of both Mick Foley and Edge.

Mick Foley sat down with Joey Styles where he felt that night in Chicago reminded Mick Foley just who he is. Foley did a lot for the first time in a long time: bled his own blood, put his own body on the line, and he was able to inflict pain on a man he despises with no one stopping him. The only issue is Mick Foley did not win the match. He told Joey Styles to begin spreading the word that he would do anything to face Edge at One Night Stand.

Edge combated Foley's remarks saying that Wrestlemania was a time that can never be recreated. Edge has moved on from Mick Foley and the challenge was denied. Forwarding a few weeks, Mick Foley made his challenge known again through physical acts. Lita defeated Torrie Wilson when Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy entered through the crowd to choke out Lita with The Mandible Claw. Edge looked for Foley backstage only to be blindsided with a steel chair assault from the Long Island native.

Edge called out Mick Foley on The Cutting Edge the following week. Edge agreed to going one on one with The Hardcore Icon, but he wanted this to be the last time that the two ever met face to face. The Rated R Superstar promised history will repeat itself, and Mick Foley has promised something much more... He convinced Edge to do the match and if he cannot follow through with his words - Mick Foley will quit.

Submission Match
"The Wrestling Machine" Kurt Angle versus Randy Orton
Intensity. The one word that could describe Kurt Angle and ECW. Kurt Angle's loss at Wrestlemania - due to Randy Orton being pinned by Rey Mysterio - unleashed Angle into becoming the self-proclaimed Wrestling Machine. Angle harbored anger for losing his championship and to Orton for being the reason for that.

Randy Orton was victorious versus Funaki when Kurt Angle confronted The Legend Killer for this match at One Night Stand. Angle announced that his contract was bought by ECW, but he had one request from Shane McMahon: to finally punish the man who lost his World Heavyweight Championship. Orton shook the hand of Kurt Angle to make it official before RKO'ing the newest member of ECW.

Nine nights ago, Kurt Angle attacked Randy Orton during his entrance with an Ankle Lock for nearly three minutes. Angle released the hold promsing he would make Randy Orton tap out again in a Submission Match at One Night Stand. The repercussions of that assault also forbid Angle and Orton from being in the same arena until the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

Kurt Angle and Randy Orton signed the contract separately, and the papers have been notarized. The question is now: how much can one man sustain before they give up?

Singles Match
The Big Show versus Sabu
The press release of ECW's return included the phrase "intention to bring over some people from Raw and Smackdown" which caught the eye of The Big Show. The Big Show announced in a backstage segment that he would be leaving Monday Night Raw with the opportunity to remind people exactly who he is. The Big Show stated that he was not called The Giant nor The Big Show for no reason, and people are becoming too comfortable with thinking of the seven foot monster as just another guy.

Later that night, Shane McMahon chose to buy out The Big Show's contract to become an ECW Wrestler beginning at One Night Stand. Paul Heyman added in by putting The Big Show in a match for the event. Heyman heard Big Show's words loud and clear and echoed them while calling Show a threat in the highest regard. The Big Show however needs to realize that you must strike fear in the men of ECW through action; not by size. The new ECW signee has an opportunity to make his impact when he faces the fearless Sabu!

Tag Team Match
Tommy Dreamer & Terry Funk versus The Impact Players (Justin Credible & Lance Storm)
This tag team match is a match of opportunity one could say.

Tommy Dreamer was searching for the opportunity to team with Terry Funk one final time. Lance Storm wanted one more big win before officially hanging up his boots to help the next generation at The Storm Wrestling Academy. Justin Credible wanted his opportunity to wrestle on this year's One Night Stand event. It would be too easy for this match to be built on respect though.

Footage from OVW TV showed Tommy Dreamer's win against developmental talent Brent Albright. Tommy Dreamer announced to the Kentucky crowd his plans to team with Terry Funk at One Night Stand, and he was asking for Funk to return his calls. Forwarding two weeks, Dreamer defeated Al Snow in action when he gave Funk another call to action. He was interrupted by Justin Credible, with Singapore Cane in hand, as well as the ever serious Lance Storm. The men gave their reasonings for wanting this match, but sometimes words are not enough. Storm locked Dreamer tightly into the Canadian Crab allowing Credible to Curbstomp his former rival into the mat.

As the footage made it's rounds: the world finally heard from Terry Funk via a video sent to wwe.com. Terry Funk announced he was going to be at New York, with Tommy Dreamer, to beat The Impact Players asses!

Singles Match
Mike Awesome versus Masato Tanaka II
All it took was three words.

"One. More. Time." - Masato Tanaka
"Nothing. Will. Change." - Mike Awesome

Masato Tanaka wants to avenge his loss in the brutal encounter with Mike Awesome one year ago. The acceptance came with some disrespect - a promise that Awesome will walk away as the winner once more. Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka II is sure to steal the show at One Night Stand.

PLUS ...

A Rumored Debut of CM Punk

New Talent Announced for ECW TV

and...

per Paul Heyman, The Biggest Name in Professional Wrestling will be in attendance.

Great starting card. There are a lot of different ways you can book the RVD/Cena match, so I'm looking forward to seeing that pan out. Edge and Foley sounds intriguing. I'm hoping Edge wins, Mick Foley may have to quit, but CACTUS JACK doesn't have to quit and joins up with ECW.

Awesome/Tanaka II should be insane. Hoping you keep both around for the beginning of the project. Curious to see who the biggest name in pro wrestling is. Hopefully it's Vince and Heyman shoots from the hip on him. Punk debuting is fun, as is The Impact Players re-uniting.

Off to a great start with this preview, much better than what we got in real life already. I'll definitely be keeping tabs on this. Best of luck writing!

RVD/Cena was just one of those iconic moments in time, so I'm intrigued to see your version of events here. I would love if you just flipped things completely, had Cena win, and this show ends with the iconic moment of the entire ECW crowd rioting and bombarding the ring. I'm admittedly not that huge on the Foley/Edge stuff here. There's only so many times we as an audience can be threatened with a Foley quit/retirement spot lol. Angle surely has to beat Orton to put over the more intense, ECW version of his gimmick. Logically, it doesn't really make sense, but since I'm backing Cena, we need an ECW guy to beat a WWE guy, so Sabu will somehow beat The Big Show.

Dreamer and Funk versus The Impact Players should be fun, and Awesome/Tanaka will be too. I'd love an Awesome push in here to be honest. Card is strong, looking forward to the show mate.

ECW One Night Stand
June 11th, 2006
Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, New York

ECW One Night Stand 2006 began in unexpected fashion as the Hammerstein Ballroom was greeted not by Paul Heyman or Joey Styles, but by longtime ECW personality Joel Gertner.

The crowd initially welcomed Gertner back to an ECW ring, but the mood quickly changed when he revealed he had not even been invited to appear until the night before the event. Gertner claimed he only agreed to attend if he was given a live microphone, which he would use to voice his frustrations with both Paul Heyman and Shane McMahon.

In classic Joel Gertner fashion, the former broadcast personality launched into a series of complaints and innuendos, accusing Heyman and McMahon of treating him like "the one night stand" in their business relationship. While the crowd groaned and laughed along, Gertner eventually called out Joey Styles by name.

Joey Styles emerged from the backstage area visibly irritated and wasted little time telling Gertner exactly how he felt. Styles informed the crowd that he personally requested Gertner's appearance because there was something he had wanted to witness for years.

Styles wanted to witness the moment seeing his new broadcast partner choke Gertner unconscious.

The lights suddenly went dark.

The Hammerstein Ballroom erupted with the beats coming through the speakers. Tazz emerged wearing a singlet and carrying his trademark black towel over his head. Gertner's confidence immediately began to disappear as The Human Suplex Machine marched toward the ring.

Attempting to talk his way out of the situation, Gertner barely managed to begin another introduction before Tazz cut him off entirely with a Tazzmission.

The crowd roared as Gertner frantically tapped out. Tazz released the hold and tossed Joel Gertner to the mat. Joey Styles entered the ring to celebrate alongside Tazz, raising his hand while the ECW faithfusl gave their approval.

With Joel Gertner dispatched and the crowd fully energized, ECW One Night Stand officially moved into its opening video package.

Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk defeat The Impact Players via Dreamer Driver in 10:21

One Night Stand action kicked off with The Impact Players colliding with a fired-up Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk.

Justin Credible and Lance Storm immediately focused their attack on Dreamer, cutting the ring in half and preventing him from reaching his legendary partner. Terry Funk attempted to shift momentum by introducing his trademark branding iron into the match, but Dawn Marie’s appearance neutralized the ECW icon with a well-placed low blow that drew heavy boos from the Hammerstein Ballroom crowd.

The Impact Players took full control from there.. Credible repeatedly used a Singapore Cane to wear down his opponents while Storm trapped both Funk and Dreamer in the Canadian Crab at different points throughout the contest. The assault finally came to an end when Beulah McGillicutty stormed to ringside, snatched the Singapore Cane away from Credible, and cracked him across the skull to a thunderous ovation.

From that point forward, the match completely broke down into chaos. The Impact Players, Dreamer, Funk, Marie, and Beulah all became involved in a wild ringside brawl. One of the final turning points came when Credible and Storm launched Terry Funk over the barricade and into the crowd, seemingly leaving Dreamer alone against both opponents.

The numbers game appeared too much to overcome, but Tommy Dreamer once again proved why he is known as the Heart and Soul of ECW. Dreamer battled back against both men before planting Lance Storm with a devastating Dreamer Driver in the center of the ring.

Three seconds later, Dreamer and Funk stood victorious as the Hammerstein Ballroom erupted in celebration.

Mike Awesome defeats Masato Tanaka via Awesome Bomb in 09:00

One year removed from their first encounter, Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka renewed one of ECW's rivalries. The bell barely had time to ring before both men met in the center of the ring, unloading stiff forearms and punches.

The fight quickly spilled into the crowd where neither competitor showed any regard for their own safety. Tanaka hurled Awesome into the steel barricade before Awesome returned the favor moments later. The violence only escalated when Awesome launched a steel chair directly into Tanaka's face. The Japanese veteran immediately fired the chair back into Awesome's face, bringing the Hammerstein Ballroom to a roar as both men lost balance for moments.

The final moments proved why Mike Awesome could be a dangerous addition to a re-launched ECW. Awesome launched himself through the ropes with a massive Suicide Dive that sent Tanaka crashing over the announce table and into Joey Styles and Tazz. Awesome, who did not waste a second, dragged Tanaka to his feet and delivered an Awesome Bomb onto the arena floor before rolling Tanaka back into the ring.

Mike Awesome slammed him with an Awesome Bomb once again and stood victorious for the second year in a row.

Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka shook hands and raised the other's hand as a show of respect.

Coming to ECW…

A video package aired highlighting the people we can expect to see on ECW Live which included: Balls Mahoney, Al Snow, Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke of the FBI, Jazz, Danny Doing, Roadkill, and “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown.

Kurt Angle defeats Randy Orton via Submission in 11:07

There was a certain intensity to Kurt Angle tonight as he walked out with a “Violence” mouthpiece. The Wrestling Machine had a hero’s welcome of sorts - being showered with applause and love from ECW fans. Randy Orton on the other hand was met with jeers while barely missing trash being thrown in the aisleway.

The match was a battle of strategy as both competitors targeted specific body parts for the submission. Angle relentlessly attacked Orton's ankle and leg, looking to set up his Ankle Lock. Orton answered by targeting Angle's surgically repaired neck, repeatedly applying pressure and forcing the Olympic Gold Medalist to fight through obvious discomfort.

Orton refused to submit to Angle attempting the Ankle Lock two times. Each escape only seemed to frustrate Angle further, causing the new ECW roster member to become increasingly aggressive as the match progressed.

Kurt Angle took a Steel Pole from under the ring and drove it into Orton's ankle. Before The Legend Killer could recover, Angle immediately trapped him in a third Ankle Lock. This time there was nowhere left to run. The promised intensity finally reached its breaking point as Orton could not fight through the pain; ultimately submitting.

Kurt Angle stood tall in the Hammerstein Ballroom, proving that his obsession with violence was more than just a slogan.

Edge defeats Mick Foley in 17:56

A Wrestlemania 22 rematch brought to life by Mick Foley wanting to avenge his win in front of ECW fans. This was once again Foley taking The Rated R Superstar to a new limit.

Foley took control of most the match while turning it into a brawl around Hammerstein Ballroom. Foley brought Edge into the crowd - allowing some of those in attendance to throw their drinks at The Ultimate Opportunist and even land some chops against him. They returned ringside with Foley's Cactus Clothesline over the barricade then running him into the steel pole .

Edge found ways to seize the momentum throughout. The Rated R Superstar targeted Foley's neck and back by throwing him into the barricade and steps and planting him with an Edge-O-Matic on the floor. That was not enough to stop the heart and determination of Mick Foley. Edge felt lost - inviting Lita to help as they piled steel chairs and trash can lids in the ring. The duo took time to set up a Barbed Wire table in the corner, but that also gave Foley time to recover.

Mick Foley connected with a series of rights on Edge followed by slamming him with a Swinging Neckbreaker. Foley was full of momentum eyeing Lita, but the devious red-head elected to back away from action and slowly retreat up the ramp ... or so we thought. Action continued on heavy to the point where Edge and Foley fought on the top rope. The Hardcore Legend gained the momentum as he brought Edge down with a thunderous Superplex into the pile of steel in the center of the ring.

That laid both men out which brought back Lita to be a pivotal ending moment in this rematch. Lita hit a stunning Moonsault across the ring to Foley then rolling over to Edge to his senses. Edge secured the victory by Spearing Foley through the Barbed Wire Table, and now Mick Foley must quit the WWE.

There was a hush in the Hammerstein Ballroom as Foley slowly went to his feet. Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk came down to praise the New York native - energy shifting in the arena from heartbreak to praise.

Dreamer and Funk held up Foley’s hands as New York applauded Mrs. Foley’s Baby’s Boy. Styles and Taz spoke highly of the former Cactus Jack’s career as Dreamer and Funk gave Mick one more moment alone in the ring.

Mick Foley took in the love from the New York crowd in a final bow as…

“This Fire Burns” by Killswitch Engage blared throughout the arena. The ECW fans, Joey Styles, Taz, and Mick Foley were all confused until CM Punk walked onto his stage. His name - in the form of a chant - filled the arena, almost over Killswitch Engage, while Punk made his way to the ring.

CM Punk extends his hand, which Mick Foley accepts with Joey Styles calling it “past and future meeting in the present” as a torch-passing moment. Punk lifted Foley’s hand before turning to kick him right between his legs! CM Punk lifted the bloodied veteran onto his shoulders to deliver a shattering knee to his face with the signature Go To Sleep.

Taz yelled, peaking the audio “I already choked out one bitch tonight, and I will do it again, Joey.”

Pieces of trash fly into the ring as CM Punk laughs, crossing his arms in an X with his foot on Foley. The boos get louder as One Night Stand moves into a video package for the next match.

Sabu defeats The Big Show in 6:21

This was the ultimate David versus Goliath match - luckily David was willing to risk it all against the Goliath.

The beginnings showed Big Show using power and dominance to push Sabu away and not accepting any of his offense. He even swatted Sabu away mid air then using his size to throw Sabu across the ring. To add to it, he thew Sabu over his shoulders to the outside of the ring.

Sabu found his opportunity outside the ring with a steel chair thrown into the head of Big Show. Sabu lived up to his moniker's quickly by staying under the ring to throw any and all objects at Big Show: sheet pans, street signs, toilet seat covers, and a toolbox. Sabu used all those resources to keep the giant down allowing himself to set up two tables across the ring from each other.

The time spent on those tables brought The Big Show back to his feet. He wasted no time with a Chokeslam to Sabu then following up with a second through one of the tables. Big Show cockily put his foot on Sabu for the pinfall...

Then the lights went out…

A typical moment saved for Sabu as a small lighter came through the darkness. The light turned back on to reveal The Sandman in the ring with a cigarette and a Singapore Cane! The Sandman whipped The Big Show not once, or twice, but seven times with a Singapore Cane before Show stumbled onto the second table.

Sabu brought himself to his feet and leg-dropped Big Show through the table to win the match.

Just before the evening's main event, Paul Heyman made his first appearance of One Night Stand and was greeted by a thunderous ovation from the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Heyman thanked Shane McMahon for helping bring ECW back to life, boldly claiming that Shane had "more balls" than his father for recognizing that ECW was always meant to be alive. The comments continued on speaking about the Invasion where the wrong McMahon used ECW’s likeness, and Stephanie would be far-far away from this iteration of Extreme Championship Wrestling.

Paul Heyman went on to remind the audience that ECW was built on violence, passion, and revolution. The company had pushed the limit, crossed the limit, and ultimately "redefined the damn limit." He paid tribute to many of the names whose careers were shaped by ECW including: Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Mick Foley, Mike Awesome, Tazz, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Rob Van Dam.

The crowd chanted for ECW while Heyman began to shift his attention toward the future. Recalling a conversation with Shane McMahon, Heyman stated that the mission of the revived ECW was not simply to relive the past, but to change professional wrestling once again.

ECW would not serve as an extension of Raw or SmackDown. ECW would operate as its own entity with its own roster, championships, and identity. Heyman further stated that if any superstar from Raw or SmackDown appeared on ECW programming moving forward, fans should assume one thing: Shane McMahon and Paul Heyman had purchased that performer's contract and brought them to ECW permanently.

Heyman then promised the audience what he described as the greatest acquisition in ECW history.

After teasing the announcement and insisting the crowd was not ready for what was about to happen, Heyman introduced ...

SAMOA JOE!

An eruption as the ‘biggest star in professional wrestling’ emerged to a massive ovation as chants of "JOE! JOE! JOE!" filled the arena. The appearance garnered an iconic "OH MY GOD" from Joey Styles. Heyman welcomed Samoa Joe to ECW and personally escorted him to a front-row seat, as Joe would have a close view of the night's main event.

Rob Van Dam defeats John Cena to win the WWE Championship in 20:04

The energy was electric for the main event. Fans threw John Cena's hat back to him, pushed him away from the barriade when he tried to interact.

Cena immediately showed intensity and used his strength advantage to slow the pace of the match. The champion repeatedly grounded RVD and targeted his leg, preventing the challenger from utilizing his trademark aerial offense.

Van Dam found his momentum after countering a shoulder tackle with a spinning heel kick that sent Cena stumbling into the corner. The ECW faithful erupted as RVD quickly followed with a monkey flip and Rolling Thunder for the first major near-fall of the contest. The momentum continued as Van Dam connected with a Split-Legged Moonsault, but Cena kicked out quickly to the dismay of New York,

Cena caught Van Dam attempting another monkey flip and planted him with a thunderous FU. The Hammerstein Ballroom fell silent for a brief moment as the referee counted two before RVD lifted his shoulder from the canvas.

Sensing victory was within reach, Cena became increasingly aggressive. The WWE Champion continued targeting Van Dam's injured leg while refusing to allow the challenger any breathing room. Despite the punishment, RVD refused to stay down. Every comeback attempt from Cena was met with another burst of energy from the ECW icon as the crowd rallied behind him with chants of "ROB! VAN! DAM!"

Both men struggled to their feet as the match came close to its end. Cena attempted one final FU, but Van Dam escaped behind him and connected with another spinning heel kick. The challenger immediately followed with one final Rolling Thunder that brought the Hammerstein Ballroom to its feet.

The opening was all that was needed.

RVD climbed to the top rope and paused for a moment, taking in the deafening reaction from the Hammerstein Ballroom. Pointing both thumbs toward himself, Van Dam launched into the air and connected with a picture-perfect Five-Star Frog Splash.

One.
Two.
Three! to a gigantic pop across the building.

The crowd is on their feet with ECW chants once again echoing throughout Hammerstein Ballroom. Joey Styles and Tazz are forced to yell for the audience at home to hear as Rob Van Dam is the new WWE Champion. One year after being forced to miss One Night Stand due to injury, Rob Van Dam had finally achieved the moment he had waited for. The Whole F'N Show stood atop the wrestling world as the new WWE Champion.

Those in attendance do the signature “Rob-Van-Dam” with the match ending announcement as Paul Heyman stepped into the ring with a black velvet bag.

Heyman and RVD share an impassioned hug then Paul called for a microphone. Heyman spoke on how Rob Van Dam conquered the WWE tonight, and he re-wrote what he was forced to miss last year. Paul Heyman one again proclaims this is E-C-F'n-W, but he adds that the WWE Championship has no place in this company.

Heyman christened Van Dam with the new ECW World Heavyweight Championship with Paul E. taking the WWE Championship off of Van Dam. The history books will read that Rob Van Dam was the WWE Champion, but, in what could be most important, they will read Rob Van Dam is the ECW World Heavyweight Champion.

One Night Stand ended as Rob Van Dam held up the ECW World Heavyweight Championship as: Samoa Joe stood in the crowd, Kurt Angle a top of the stage, and CM Punk in the balconies of the Hammerstein Ballroom.

One thing is for sure as the show ends.- ECW has risen again.
