I dont like how the only way you can use guys like Steve Austin is if you go through showcase mode. Like what.

Idk what this outrage is, but I got annoyed when they were tied to the card game mode and it was basically impossible to get them without paying real money bc the grind was ridiculous. But in fairness there, while they were treated as separate characters, they were essentially just alternate attires. Just made it impossible for me personally to unlock all the characters.

Showcase mode I never even really like but I don't mind zooming through it on easy to unlock stuff and MyRise is usually pretty fun

I read that either all or some were tied to a battlepass type system where you had to keep playing to unlock them. People complained it would “take forever” but so many have posted they have finished it already so i think ppl exaggerated

Oh yeah the battle pass system is it's own issue. I don't think that's cool for a yearly release game, if they spent 3 or so years between releases with battle passes the whole time that would be better

Austin (and others) were literally part of the unlocked roster on last year's game. Now you have to go through a mode to get them.

Only reason it won't matter to me whenever I get it, ill be playing the modes anyway, so it's just whatever. Sucks for the ones who don't wanna play them modes though.

i think the battlepass type one you have to get the points for completing just exhibition matches or something. I'm not 100% sure i just know i saw ppl complaining they don't get any points for simulating matches which has always been the case, it was just never tied to any kind of progression before.

Yeah the battle pass you'll earn points in every mode. Some I guess more points than others.

The battle pass system this year has you grinding through 300+ matches to unlock characters that were free last year (Undertaker '03 for example)

That's why people are mad. Also some players found a way to accelerate the grinding and win matches faster but 2K immediately patched it in. I'll just quote someone on Youtube who perfectly summed it up :

What's hilarious to me is that there will be bugs that will be in the game for weeks or even months until it gets patched, but the moment people find a way to unlock stuff faster, they're on that within days.
