From Rumble Winner to Number One Contender
The "King of Strong Style" that being Shinsuke Nakamura would enter the 2018 men's Royal Rumble match as the dreaded fourteenth entrant into the fray. He would go on and win the all thing his rumble debut by eliminating Roman Reigns.
Unfortunately he would end up failing to make history at WrestleMania 34 by becoming the first Japanese born WWE Champion, as he fell to his old rival and then WWE Champion AJ Styles. Following attempts at claiming the WWE Championship for the rest of 2018 would end up producing the same result.
Flash forward to the first episode of Tuesday Night Smackdown, and Nakamura found himself with yet another shot at making history. When he took part in a number one contender five way main event, which also featured AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, Samoa Joe.
In the end, Nakamura emerged victorious by pinning Styles with the Kinshasa. After the match WWE Champion Daniel Bryan(c) made his presence known by laying Nakamura out with a Busaiku Knee.
