Now this... I'm not gonna lie, I fuck with this a lot more. Only hitch being that I think Paramount+ probably got the worst UI of all the streaming apps I use.
As I read more, it' could be pretty bad for aew long and short term. Apparently Paramount is heavily Trump backed and MAGA funded , will not bode well for the freedom of performers. On a more sinister note, it's more Maga control over a major media network for propaganda. I think it may be a cause for concern but I suppose time will tell. :worried

When I hear this over and over I think about Creative decisions like with DC Studios. A new Regime might not like the direction going on with the Movies etc and they might want to wipe the slate clean.

This is true, they've definitely bent the knee to Trump a lot during this term. We'll just see how things play out with AEW.

I just hope if AEW ends up having to move, they move somewhere good. Not sure what the best option would be currently with the landscape how it is, but hopefully something good happens.

Yeah it's definitely interesting as Netflix was not going to be acquiring AEW and in this case Paramount will be.

Interested to know if they'll keep the minority ownership portion as well , that's an interesting wrinkle.

Certainly will be curious to see how Tony navigates a new relationship with new executives as he seemed to have developed good ones at Warner.

Renewal time gonna make the talks "fun" next few years lol

I'm sure nothing catastrophic is going to happen to the company.

Of those two, I'd prefer Amazon, as already got Prime. They do seem to have a good relationship with AEW already so could work.

I'd be much more worried about this aspect from Netflix fwiw but I can see stuff like DC especially being reworked bc of how much it costs and they'll be looking at those first

As far as AEW, I'm not super worried bc I just don't think they're on that radar yet, even the mainstream news recently has been just more liberal echo chambers tbh, not like Trump tweeted about them like he does late night hosts or anything. And then, even if this is the final offer, it'll probably take another year to get approved. I wanted AEW off warner at the end of their current deal anyway so I'm still hoping for a move somewhere else. I already lost all faith in WBD taking care of the IP I liked before either of these deals came in so it's sadly whatever to me

I think Netflix not getting the movies is better news for the industry overall. I was curious what would have happened to the TV wing tho

Paramount don't think you guys think I've forgotten them cancelling The Last Ronin Movie/TMNT that the fanbase dearly wants. As much as I like the stuff with the kiddies I need that in the future. Harry Potter too I'm not sure if they are done filming the first Season of the Series but what if Paramount is like this is too much money to spend per Season let's cancel it a few Seasons in. The LOTR Series I'm thinking about that as well.

So one thought I had was does WBD TV just slowly just die without the rest of the IPs. But sure that be optimal for viewership either

I'm actually with you though. I also wanted are of Warner as I thought they outgrew them and I agree they are incompetent lol

I think this merger is the lesser of the evils as far as monopolies go if I ignore my issues with paramount's ownership. But outside of that, I found Paramount had the weakest library of the major ones and WBD was actively shooting itself in the foot everyday so this is at least a bottom tier major company improving instead of like Disney for example lol
