2017 Royal Rumble Match
The first match announced for the Royal Rumble pay per view event, was rather fittingly the titular thirty man over the top rope battle royal. Known as the Royal Rumble, as always the last man in the ring at the conclusion of the match. Would earn the right to chose to challenge for either the WWE Universal or WWE World Championship at WrestleMania 33.

Champion VS Champion – Winner Takes All - Jericho is Banned

The first match outside of the 2017 edition of the Royal Rumble match itself. Was a champion versus champion match between the reigning WWE Universal Champion (Owens)© and the reigning WWE United States Champion (Reigns)©.
Curtesy of Monday Night RAW, the match would also have a winner takes all stipulation attached to it. Meaning by the end of the night either Owens or Reigns would be a double champion. RAW GM Mick Foley also added another stipulation to the match, that being that Chris Jericho was banned from it.

Beginning in early January of the new year the “C-Nation Commander” John Cena issued repeated challenges. For the WWE World Championship which was currently around the waist of the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles©.
Who time after time refused the challenge of Cena. Stating that he had already proven that he was better than him by beating him. The egotistical champion said he would only grant Cena a title match if he put his career on the line.
Seeing that he was backed into a corner, Cena agreed to the stipulation. He then added that if he couldn’t win the title then maybe it was time to hang up his boots.

Fresh off defeating Charlotte Flair to retain the gold at the last WWE ppv of 2016. Aka the Monday Night RAW exclusive End of the Line, the current WWE RAW Women's Champion Sasha Banks(c).
Didn't have anytime to recover as she found herself the victim of repeated assaults by the "British Banshee" Paige on episodes of MNR. Having had enough of this, the "Legit Boss" took to the squared circle on an episode of MNR. And said she understood what Paige wanted and as far she was concerned she would see her at the Rumble.

On the 17th of January 2017 episode of WWE Tuesday Night Smackdown, the quartet of Becky Lynch, Carmella, Eva Marie and Naomi. Faced off with each other in a fatal four way match. Where the winner would earn themselves a shot at the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship at the Royal Rumble.
When it was all said and done we had a new number one contender. In the form of Naomi who trapped Marie in the Feel the Glow submission and the latter submitted to the hold.

On the January 23rd 2017 episode of Monday Night RAW, the brand's General Manager aka Mick Foley took to the ring. To announce that the Bar(c) would defend the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship. At the Royal Rumble pay per view against Enzo Amore and Big Cass on the Kickoff Show.

The Kickoff Show for the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event. Began with the commentary team consisting of Corey Graves from MNR and Tom Phillips from TNS. Taking it in turns to welcome the WWE Universe to the show.

The monstrous duo of Erick Rowan aka the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions. Came out to the ring without their stablemate and leader Bray Wyatt with them.

As soon as the bell rang the challenger aka Kalisto darted around the ring and scored back-to-back near falls on his opponent. However, despite a good showing from the “Masked Marvel” he would end up on the losing end in this title match. At ringside Maryse caused a distraction which allowed Miz to roll up Kalisto from behind with a handful of tights for the pin.

In the end, Cesaro tagged in Sheamus and then knocked Cass off the apron. Which led to Sheamus pinning Amore following a Brogue Kick.
