I couldn't be prouder....

Of my son. I have watched him progress in his young hockey life from an awkward kid on his skates, to the blossoming young goalie he is now.

I stood there fighting back the tears. As he tried in vain to stop the onslaught of the team he was vs. Not from disappointment, but from being in sheer awe of how badly he wanted to succeed for himself, and his team mates. I wanted it for him as well.
When his team mates would rally around him and tell him that it wasnt his fault. After he had stretched himself silly trying desperately to stop a rebound that got away. Leaving his body twisted awkwardly. Seeing him red faced and downright exhausted after the effort he and his club put in made me prouder in that moment then anything sports wise I have ever done.
The moment was cemented about a half hour after the game when he was sitting in the van....well, I guess I didn't have a chance on those. I think I played well.

Just the ability to recognize that the responsibility was not all his. Showed me a lot of courage and heart.
To this day I still beat myself up about games where as a goalie I felt I let my team down.
I lost a game this year I think we should have won. Lost by one goal on a bad giveaway that I couldn't get access to stop. I hate those moments. Guess I have to learn a thing or two from my 11 year old kid.

Congratulation boy wonder. Making me proud! Stop bringing me to tears damn you!!!!

Parents will understand. I just posted this to facebook

Savagitis: a condition known to cause immense amounts of gibberish to spew from ones mouth, particularly at a younger age.

- The only known cure is Savagisil, which is to be snorted once a day before English class.
