This is a time travel theory that I have been reading about. Ever since I watched the movie "The Final Countdown" I have felt that IF time travel were possible, that means that the past, present and future are all happening at the same time.
A paradox is impossible to happen. We've all heard the story about the person time traveling and killing his own grandpa.
BUT the Novikov Self-Consistency Principle tells us this cannot happen. If you travel to the past, you cannot change anything. BUT you could be responsible for things that had already happened.
In the Final Countdown, they try to change the past but they fail. BUT they become responsible for things that had already happened in history.
For example, a senator disappeared in history. It turns out that the USS Nimitz was respsonsible for that happening.
It's a theory I find fascinating. Paradoxes are impossible but maybe someone goes back and time and kills prostitutes in WhiteChapel and he is Jack the Ripper.
