Big matches official for Dominion!
Six major bouts with five title matches set for Osaka Jo Hall
A special press conference in Tokyo on May 9 saw the first matches made official for Dominion on June 14 in Osaka Jo Hall. Five title bouts have been set together with a special tag match and more to be announced!
Tickets available worldwide in English May 14!
Watch live in English on NJPW World!
Set for the Osaka Jo Hall main event is a hotly anticipated rematch for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Sakura Genesis, Callum Newman seeking his second defence of the gold against the challenging Yota Tsuji. Newman's stunning victory in Ryogoku in April was tainted by a low blow paving the way to victory, and his first defence against Shingo Takagi proved that the Prince was even more willing to do whatever it took to keep hold of his championship gold.
With Unbound Co. and United Empire's battles being a consistent factor on cards all the way through 2026 so far, Newman suggested a way to put an end to their feud at Ignition to Dominion in Karatsu; a tag team match whereby if Unbound Co. lost, neither Tsuji nor Takagi could ever challenge him again for the title. Tsuji threw a wrench into those plans however; an emphatic Gene Blaster put the champion's shoulders down for three and secured himself this title shot.
Tsuji started 2026 on top of the world, but after back to back losses to Newman and Andrade El Idolo, has gone from having it all to walking into Osaka with no gold to his name at all. Will the first half of 2026 end with Tsuji on top, or the United Empire still reigning?
The IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship will also be at stake in Osaka when Andrade El Idolo defends his freshly won title against both Drilla Moloney and Shota Umino in a three way match. A hugely dramatic title bout in the main event of night one at Dontaku saw the 'Real Latino Man' capture the Global gold, his first NJPW championship in 12 years after a shocking DDT saw Tsuji's skull meet the ringpost, and the DM was sent.
Andrade was quick to state that although he represented AEW, his title holder status meant that he was going to be a fighting champion in NJPW. After asking who wanted to be his first challenger, he was initially answered by Tsuji's Unbound Co. teammate in Drilla Moloney, but Shota Umino would follow. Andrade suggested a three way and now that match is official. While Moloney and Umino share a mutual respect they more pertinently share a desire to bring the Global title back to NJPW, and to hold the first singles gold of their NJPW careers.
The Knockout Bros. will put the IWGP tag Team Championships on the line at Dominion against United Empire's Great-O-Khan and HENARE. O-Khan and HENARE lost a chance at the tag titles at Redzone in April after being beaten in a number one contender's match by Bishamon, but when the UE duo together with Will Ospreay beat Bishamon and Boltin Oleg to win the NEVER 6 Man Tag titles at Dontaku, they called their shot for Osaka Jo Hall. With OSKAR and O-Khan's dominating power, and Ice and HENARE's fighting spirit, this should be another thrilling title bout for KOB, but can the champions reach the rarified air of top four title reigns ever by getting to V7?
NEVER Openweight Championship gold will be up for grabs for Aaron Wolf as he challenges Ren Narita. Back in February, Wolf's fairytale debut NEVER title reign came crashing to an abrupt and premature end when Narita and the entirety of HOUSE OF TORTURE launched a brutal assault and snatched away the belt in double quick time. Don Fale heaped on the physical and mental duress for Wolf with a controversial New Japan Cup victory to boot, but in so doing strengthened Wolf's determination. The Olympic gold medalist threw professional fighters to the mat with 10 million Yen of his own money at stake, and then put away the giant Fale with an Angle Slam. Buoyed by his victory, and unable to sit idly by as Narita cheated to success and a first defence of the gold over Boltin Oleg, Wolf has now challenged to get Osaka revenge for an Osaka transgression July 14.
After the shocking return of SANADA at Dontaku, and the theft of his NJPW World TV Championship, Konosuke Takeshita will battle the Fashion Monster with the title on the line in Osaka Jo Hall. At New Year Dash this year, SANADA walked to the ring brandishing a guitar with the message 'goodbye New Japan', and news followed soon after that he was undergoing an indefinite leave of absence. That leave came to an end at Dontaku as he revealed himself to be the mystery masked man that had first appeared to confront Takeshita at Sakura Genesis. Now a first time ever meeting for the two comes in the highly paced 15 minute time frame of the TV title.
Also official for Dominion is a special tag team matchup that pits Hontai against TMDK. Yuya Uemura and Ryohei Oiwa's rivalry has continued to explode with matches highlighting stunning technique and brilliant power. Yet Taichi was keen not to be ignored by the two rising stars, suggesting this tag team bout. Alongside Oiwa will be the tag partner with whom he won World Tag league in 2025 in Zack Sabre Jr.
Sabre and Zack's own bonds are stronger than most, with the two winning IWGP Tag gold as Dangerous Tekkers on three separate occasions. Now each has a younger charge they expect to see big things from, but both want to reaffirm their presence as undeniable within NJPW, especially as the summer looms and G1 Climax 36 along with it.
