Hiromu has been spinning his Wheels for ages imo maybe leaving New Japan makes him change himself inside and out.

It's like a time bomb just went off as I read the news that Hiromu Takahashi is leaving NJPW.

Hiromu Takahashi is expected to sign with the WWE and could be performing under the ring name Nox Raijin.

Unless he changes who he is to go with his talents in the Ring he'll get boring for me like he did in New Japan probably within a few Weeks.

Maybe he will do the Jeff Cobb method and get a year off coasting

Wow. WWE has a history of picking horrible ring names for incoming wrestlers, but that is one of the worst.

The worst part of it is that Japan doesn't have an X sound. If you were taking a non Japanese name and translating it into Japanese, the katakana would have the sound of kusu due to the lack of the X sound. So giving a Japanese wrestler the name Nox is just dumb. Then pairing it with Raijin, the Shinto God of Thunder... it just is very jarring to me.

I looked it up and I guess the name was originally picked for EVIL but they decided not to use it so rather than think of a good name for Hiromu or let him use his own name, they pick this.

Wow.

They should go with Raijin for sure it hits when you say it. Raiden from Mortal Kombat is not gonna be happy with this!

You never know who comes up with them. Nox or Nokusu as a name is part of the Kamen Rider universe if I'm not mistaken, so... who really knows.

I'm pretty sure most of the time they just tell the talent to pick a name that WWE can copyright and if they're cool with it that's what the talent uses lol that's why everyone is named after their nephews and shit

I dunno. They go back and forth. They pick new names they can copyright for some, and they let others use their real names. I know it depends on their fame and name recognition and brand. I would like to think Hiromu was known enough to be able to keep his name... but probably personal bias on my part. It is not like he is Okada, who would definitely keep his name

I doubt WWE view him that way, even KENTA got a new name :lol Seems the bar is pretty high to get to keep your name outright
