Hikaru Shida injury update/dispute

On Friday's AEW Rampage, Tony Schiavone revealed in an in-ring promo segment that Hikaru Shida was injured following her recent street fight with Serena Deeb.

As a result, she was being replaced by Kris Statlander in her Owen Hart Foundation Tournament match against Red Velvet next Friday.

However, the former AEW Women's Champion seemed surprised by the news, taking to Twitter Friday to attempt to explain what appears to be miscommunication between her and AEW and that she is actually not hurt.

Shida is in Japan currently and has been in the ring four times since the Deeb match.

After first quote tweeting "What?" to AEW's tweet with the announcement, Shida pointed out the aforementioned matches and her appearance in a MAKAI music show that involves choreographed fighting, but that "I seem to have been injured."



An hour later, she wished Statlander good luck and that she was going to enjoy her "sudden holidays in Japan:"


Hours later, Shida tweeted another statement, saying that after the street fight, "a doctor check was required to participate in the Owen Hart Cup. And I couldn't re-enter the country in time," adding that she feels healthy.



It's unknown when Shida will return to the U.S. for AEW, but it will not be in the Owen Hart Tournament when she does.

This isn’t the first time, either. She’s getting frustrated with her booking lately and I don’t blame her.

It almost feels like Tony’s gotten bored of her and it’s crazy considering how over she is and how strong a worker she is. She just worked like 3 hours of ring time between two days in Japan so she deserves better.

I think so too. It definitely felt like she was rebuking the “injury.”

Shida feels like me who gets mad and speaks her mind and when I calm down, I take back what I said because I’m a nice and empathetic person. Even if I meant it at the time.

Plus, she ultimately doesn’t want to burn her bridges with AEW.

The only kayfabe injury that is allowed in Japanese Wrestling is the Poison Mist, so this doesn't surprise me that Shida was like "What injury?"

The funny part is apparently I knew Shida was injured before she did bc I read spoilers and she didn't find out until Rampage aired

You can tell that most of her tweets were from her own genuine feelings and that last tweet was PR stuff. This another wrestler that has been frustrated with AEW. It's sad that is happening to Shida this time. Is that the respect she gets for carrying that division during the lockdown period?

How exactly was she disrespected? This angle was started on wendnesday , did she not watch the show? Why did she feel like she had to tweet over a kayfabe angle? And perhaps dont go to japan in the middle of a tournament a simple text to anyone b4 firing off on twitter , if it wasnt just bad japenglish,could have resolved this. If anything she looks unprofessional when aew tried to kayfabe why she was out. Really dont see how shes a victim here

considering her time in Japan is working for those promotions outside of the top two - she doesn't have any leverage to fight being dropped from the tournament irrespective of whether she was told or not. TK just another businessman - (profit = ruthless )

But then again, AEW should have just said that she had prior events over in Japan and there you go because while kayfabe injuries are allowed in America. In Japan, they aren't as they don't care for the idea of playing off something that can really happen as fake per say. And honestly, no one is really the victim. AEW more than likely knew about Shida going to Japan and even if she went with kayfabe, which it is 2022 kayfabe is about as real as Santa, then she would have to follow it through Japan and all. So in the end no wins and no one is the victim just bad communication and all.

Bad communucation aside, youre an actor on a show. Scripts change. None of that warrants a twitter tantrum. We dont even know if she was told anything, either, thats all assumption. If i had a scheduling issue at work, id talk to my boss like an adult.
