Same reason as they do better when ppl start feeling disenfranchised with the status quo of WWE. Rebel promotions do better when their values are not in a power position. Probably over thinking it though lol

Might be some weight to that but idk, I think it could just be as simple as WWE was drizzling shit when AEW was formed, had a resurgence once Vince was gone, and has now become stagnant once again, while also not seeming to be trying to appeal to the actual wrestling fans anymore
