I tried that Pokémon knockoff game like a year ago and found it kinda fun but harder to really get into due to no familiarity with the creatures

yes and no, there's the legends games that are more like maybe an action rpg and then theres the main games that are still turn based.

they just released fire red and leaf green on switch which are GBA games.

the game they just released is a mixture of pokemon/animal crossing/minecraft and is actually a ton of fun so far.
