PRESENTS
John-Constantine-Hellblazer-logo-symbol.jpg

CONSTANTINE: HELLBLAZER
Coming off of the back of Chapter Three's Zatanna film which was met with widely positive reviews. We would then follow up with a highly anticipated second entry to this Justice League Dark series as we followed with a much anticipated film which was of course our John Constantine (Dan Stevens) solo film. This film of course had a lot of anticipation as it was revealed to be shot in a very different format from the others. Described in many ways to be reminiscent of some Tarantino films with chapters or the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. This film would very much tell the story of John Constantine over many chapters of his life and in order to tell you how he got to this very moment we would begin with Act I: The Spark and the Flame. This act would serve as an origin for John Constantine and his tragic childhood. As we'd learn that from the time of his conception his father Thomas Constantine (Mark Rylance) had never wanted another child. With his mother passing due to complications from childbirth, this would very much leave John at the mercy of his father. Shown to be a loathing individual who almost as if he was looking to truly prove his point would constantly express his hatred and disgust for his son as he blamed John for his mother's passing. A truly detestable figure whose behavior only worsened when alcohol was involved. The only bright spark in Constantine's life was his older sister Cheryl (Sophie Rundle). A kind and caring individual Cheryl very much acted as a mother figure to John and showed him a source of love he had not known before.

Despite her love for her father even with all of his flaws, Cheryl acknowledged that John needed a chance in life and in order to have that chance he needed to be away from his abusive father. This is why Cheryl would take John to live with her which was met with no dispute from Thomas. While John was away from his father, he would begin to develop some interest in the supernatural and the occult. At the same time we'd see on one evening Thomas Constantine on his journey back from the pub would encounter a demonic presence known as the Family Man. A demonic killer, the Family Man would very much seem to have taken an interest in the Constantine family as he viciously murdered Thomas Constantine. Despite his abusive nature and cruelty, the death of Thomas Constantine would rock both John and his sister as we'd see a bit of a wall built by John to the rest of the world. At the same time Constantine would continue to delve into the world of the dark arts and would meet a young man who had come from the school of hard knocks like himself in Chas Chandler (Toby Kebbell). This would very much serve as the origin story for one of Constantine's longest and most strongest relationships in Chas. At the same time we'd also be introduced to Adam Day (David O'Hara).

A local priest who had long been a father figure, friend and confident to Cheryl. Adam Day would also offer that same kindness and friendship to John as he urged him to stop his pursuit of the occult. Around this time however John would make two other connections as he also pursued a love of music. This love was encouraged by Adam Day and Cheryl who even gave John a guitar as he formed a metal band known as Mucus Membrane. He would be joined by a fellow budding rockstar Gary Lester (Rafe Spall). This film would not hide it's dark subject matter as we would see Gary Lester heavy into drug use. On top of Gary would be their singer Veronica Delacroix (Katherine Kelly). An aggressive and ambitious woman who like John had an interest in the occult. We would soon see Veronica and John begin a relationship as they further delved into the occult. As we'd learn however while Constantine's interest was more a curiosity at this point, Veronica had darker designs and beliefs. This was shown in the fact that she had in fact made a dark deal. This deal would see Veronica need to sacrifice other souls in order to save her own. As we'd learn this wouldn't be the first band which Veronica had travelled with and she'd use the gigs as an excuse to find victims to sacrifice before she'd vanish.

Now looking to continue this trend while secretly hoping that Constantine would potentially save her or find a means to break her deal. The error Veronica made was she began to target Chas as her next potential sacrifice. As John would begin to realize the severity of Veronica's actions and the threats she posed. John would confront her onstage and save Chas' life and his soul. In turn we'd find that Veronica had violated her contract and would see Veronica slowly be dragged to hell. Seeing his friend Chas wounded and weakened, Constantine would cast a quick spell on his friend in order to keep him alive. Recognizing that Veronica had in fact framed him for her wave of occult crimes, John Constantine would turn to Father Adam Day for help. Proving himself to be a true friend and ally to John Constantine, it would be Father Adam Day who helped John Constantine plan an escape from London and provided him with safe passage as we ended chapter one of this story. We would then get a time jump as we entered act two which was entitled the Best Version of you.

This chapter would very much begin with a montage showing John Constantine over the course of a few years going from a boy in his late teens to a conman in his early twenties. By this point Constantine was a wanted fugitive and someone on the police radars. While on the outside Constantine may have been known for his cynicism, deadpan wit, ruthless cunning, and constant chain smoking. We'd see that John was in fact haunted by his encounter with Veronica and what she had done. Seemingly lost following his encounters it would be one night that John met a travelling magician known as Nick Necro (Pip Torrens). As the pair would travel together across New York, Constantine would be shown to be living the highlife on the road with drink, drugs and many other proclivities. Necro in many ways appeared as a father figure to John which Thomas never was. He was also shown to have some form of care of John despite leading him down this illicit path. During his time with Necro, John would meet Necro's fashion designer Katie Farmin (Michelle Keegan) with whom he formed a close friendship while also encountering Margaret Ames (Charlie Murphy). The pair would begin to date with Margaret drawn to John's bad boy ways.

Things however would change one night when Constantine met Blythe (Sophie Turner). A banished demon who was wandering the earth, Blythe would warn Constantine of the dangers Necro posed. As we'd learn from Blythe Necro's lifestyle is through the damnation of others and sending them to hell but now Necro has gone too far and it's led to Blythe turning to someone who can help him. Shaken by this news but not willing to heed it, Constantine would visit Katie and discuss this encounter. As the pair had formed a close bond it would be here that Katie began to speak her truth for the first time. Revealing that she herself had in fact once made a deal, Katie said that while she doesn't want to face her demons. At the same time she cannot standby and let Necro carry out his next plot. This plot would involve a young girl by the name of Astra Logue (Abigail Lawrie) who Necro sought to sacrifice. Recognizing Necro's sins now, John would agree to work with Blythe to stop Necro from carrying out this ritual. In the process Constantine would distance himself and remove himself from Margaret's life as he looked to do the right thing. With Katie's advice John would manage to find Necro and be met by Samuel Harris/Buer (Kevin Rahm).

A powerful demon who had been tasked to make this deal with Necro to accumulate souls. We'd soon learn in this reunion that Blythe in fact had worked with Buer. Despite being shaken by this revelation, Constantine would begin to perform an exorcism on Buer. As Buer would begin to be banished to hell we would see Nick Necro begin to pulled into the pit. While tragically we'd see Katie Fermin pulled into hell as per violating her own deal. We'd see Blythe wound Buer weakening him and allowing him to be pulled into this portal to hell. Sadly in this chaos, Necro in a last attempt to save himself would grab hold of Astra and in the process he would pull her to hell with him. Distraught at damning Astra and seeing Katie fall, Constantine would confront Blythe and accuse her of using him. With a smirk Blythe would inform Constantine that like him with Necro se was sworn to service and blinded by loyalty. Yet now thanks to Constantine she is free just like he is and now they can do anything they want. As Blythe would begin to vanish she'd let Constantine know she see him again sometime to wrap up this second act. This would then bring us to the third act of this film which was entitled Blight!

Haunted by the loss of Astra, this chapter would focus on Constantine choosing to isolate himself. Living just outside a commune, Constantine would begin to find something he hadn't had in a very long time. Peace and acceptance, we'd see slowly John begin to overcome his demons as he befriended a mother Marj (Sharon Horgan) and her daughter Mercury (Aisling Franciosi). As he began to find family and people to care for, Constantine would for the first time truly begin to let his walls down. This would be until an old friend by the name of Ritchie Simpson (Mackenzie Crook). A former friend of Constantine's from his time in Mucus Membrane, Ritchie would come to Constantine in need of help as John's former friend Gary has vanished. As Ritchie would explain to John, because of the issues with Veronica and their whole experience Gary had started practicing some magic and occult practices of his own in an effort to get clean. However he'd since gone missing, despite Constantine's misgivings he would agree to help find his friend even if that meant stepping back into the dark world. This would lead to John reaching out to Margaret who was now a police officer, despite some tension with how Constantine left things. Margaret would agree to help John.

As she looked into Gary Lester, Margaret would discover Gary's checkered past. Noted for several counts of smuggling and various crimes, Margaret would provide John with a lead. This would lead to John returning to the states and this time making his way to Manhattan and to a club known as The Midnight Hour. Here Constantine would first cross paths with the notorious crime lord known as Papa Midnite (Lakeith Stanfield). Papa Midnite along with leading his own gang, was a nightclub owner of one of Manhattan's most prolific clubs. A curator and collector of many artifacts, the self proclaimed voodoo king would very much take an interest in artifacts of the supernatural and occult. Sitting down with John Constantine, Midnite would reveal that he was fully aware of John Constantine and his defeat of Nick Necro and Veronica. Both of whom he had knowledge of and encountered. Seemingly looking to make a deal with John or an arrangement, Midnite would reveal that Lester did do some work for him and would occasionally provide Midnite with a new piece for his collection. While keeping details to a minimum, Midnite would reveal that usually these pieces were stolen and that Lester had remarked he and a friend had found something big for him. As Constantine left, Papa Midnite made it clear that while this was free he is still owed by Lester and his friend. Going back to Margaret, Constantine would look to find out who Gary Lester was associated with and it would be here that Constantine learned Ritchie Simpson was involved.

Confronting Richie, John would learn that Richie was dying and riddled with cancer. Looking for something to save himself and prolong his life, Ritchie had in fact made a deal. This deal would be for him and Gary to collect an artifact which contained the demon known as Mnemoth. A vicious, parasitic hunger demon, Ritchie would reveal that things had gone wrong and managed to provide Constantine with a location for Gary. On arrival in what was awful scene, Constantine would find his friend suffering and in pain having been afflicted with the Hunger Demon. Recognizing the danger of the demon, Constantine would make a hard choice and bind the demon to Gary. This would effectively kill both Gary and Mnemoth but also save the world from the wrath of the Hunger Demon. Enraged by having to make such a tough and hard decision, John Constantine would return to Ritchie's home, here he would find Ritchie dead but in the process of uploading his brain to technology. As his psyche was in the computer and beginning John to let him be, Constantine said that today was a day where he had to say goodbye to a close friend because of Ritchie. With that Constantine would unplug the connection causing Ritchie to shut down. As he left however Constantine would be confronted by Midnite. A livid Midnite would reveal he wanted that artifact that Gary and Ritchie were after but at the same time he didn't know of Mnemoth. While angry about his artifact being destroyed Midnite was willing to chalk this as a wash based on Mnemoth. However he would warn Constantine to close out this chapter that the next time they meet, he won't be so amicable.

This would bring us to the fourth part of The Constantine film which was entitled Poisoned Truth. Troubled by his encounter with Ritchie and the death of Gary Lester. John was shown to be heavily removed and regressing into bad habits. Then as if by fortune or by luck he would be reached out to by Father Adam Day. Sadly however this would not be the entire fond reunion he expected as Adam Day informed John that his sister Cheryl had been found and was believed to have been murdered. Despite his disconnect from his home life John would begin to return home to London despite knowing several warrants were out for his arrest. On his return Adam Day would introduce John to Cheryl's grieving husband Tony Masters (Tobias Menzies). Very much a distraught mess, it would be in this first conversation with Tony that John was first informed that the pair had a daughter who Tony had sent to live with his parents for the moment. At first John would seem to have found someone to befriend and share his grief with. However as we'd find in a bar later that evening John would begin to notice some more troublesome behavior from the belligerent Tony who didn't seem as grieved as he did earlier. Leaving the bar John would be introduced by a woman known as Elle (Lily James). Real name Chantinelle, Elle would be a fallen angel turned succubus known as Chantinelle.

While not someone normally to do good, Chantinelle revealed like many others there is a darkness around Constantine which she is finding alluring and pulling her towards him. Warning him that there are many creatures watching him from above and below, Elle says that not every being will be as interested or curious in Constantine. This wouldn't be Constantine's only encounter either as not long after he would be surprised by the appearance of Margaret Ames. Now working as a detective as opposed to a police officer, Margaret Ames would warn Constantine that the police was now all the more suspicious of him. This is because in startling news, Father Adam Day has also been found dead. With deaths racking up around him and more casualties with connections to him. Police chief Frank Truro (Hugh Bonneville) was now fully committed to the fact that there was a serial killer and his chief suspect was Constantine. While she knew Constantine was far from a saint, Margaret knew that he was not a serial killer. Following this we would see Margaret bring Constantine in for questioning with Truro. Despite Constantine going willingly and expressing his sadness and guilt at their deaths, Truro was convinced that he had his man. At the same time we'd see Elle and Blythe shockingly connect as they met with Papa Midnite. As the trio spoke it would be Midnite who used the name the Family Man.

Following some intense questioning where Constantine would profess his innocence. It seemed that nothing he said would truly appease or win over Truro. It would only be when Margaret pointed out the lack of true evidence and the fact that someone was willing to post his bail that for now Truro would let Constantine go. However it was clear that Truro very much saw this case as his white whale and would do anything in his power to bring down Constantine once and for all. Surprisingly as we'd find Constantine's bail had been paid for by Tony who brought Constantine back to his home. Revealing that he didn't believe Constantine was the killer we'd soon learn that Tony while a highly abusive and disreputable individual on his best day had in fact been possessed by a demon known as the Family Man. Revealed to have been behind the deaths of Cheryl, Adam Day and shockingly the death of Thomas Constantine. The Family Man would taunt John as he said he was all on his own and powerless. In response to this, the Family Man would attack John Constantine and a vicious fight would break out. Despite the demon overpowering him Constantine would manage to use his smarts to defeat and kill Tony and the demon possessing him. As Tony bled out, Constantine would press him for any information he was aware of following his time with the Family Man and it would be here that John heart the name of Nergal!

This would bring an end to our fourth chapter and kick off the fifth act which was entitled Rise and Fall. Seemingly sick of all the loss he had suffered John Constantine in an attempt to clear his own head and give him time to research the name of Nergal. While in the Asylum, Constantine would frequently be visited by an angered Frank Truro. Fully believing Constantine to be guilty of multiple counts of murder, Frank Truro fully believed he had his man and even at the cost of his own career, he would bring Constantine to justice. Along with Truro's regular visits, John would also find himself with a new ally in Sister Anne Marie (Liz Hurley). A nun who worked closely with father Adam Day and despite hearing the many stories an rumors of Constantine, she truly had faith in Adam Day and his verdict. Believing Constantine to truly be on the side of good, Anne would very much act as a confidant to Constantine as he told her his story. At the same time in the asylum, Constantine would begin to attract the attention of a mysterious woman called Alice Winter (Victoria Pendretti). Despite keeping a distance and not acknowledging Constantine, Winter seemed to be keeping a watch on him and it would eventually be Constantine who confronted her.

Surprisingly Constantine having grown up and become more aware of the occult every day. He would be aware of Winter's truest identity as he recognized her as the supernatural being known as the Nightmare Nurse. Asking why she was following him, the Nightmare Nurse would reveal she is often not one to meddle but there is a darkness around Constantine which has piqued a lot of interest. Calling herself a protector of sorts, Nightmare Nurse reveals that while she has been able to mask the Asylum to those outside for a limited period of time, she can sense a threat inside the asylum and is looking out for John as best she can. Asked why she is helping him, Nightmare Nurse would reveal that while there are those committed to bringing him down, there are also those who want him to succeed. Encouraging John to continue to look into Nergal, Nightmare Nurse would warn him that there was only a limited period of time she could keep him hidden like this. It wouldn't be long either for the threat to be revealed as we'd be introduced to Georgina Snow (Shaloom Brune Franklin). Unable to contain her rage and loathing for John Constantine, Georgina would confront him and explain just why she had come for him.

Revealing that she had grown up with and was the long time lover of Veronica. Georgina had personally began studying magic in order to not only bring back the woman she loved but also to avenge her death with the individual who damned her soul for eternity. Revealing that like Veronica, she had also made a deal of her own to bring her to this occasion and provide her the tools to defeat Constantine, what Georgina would also reveal was that this would come down to a simple transaction for her also. If she can kill John Constantine, then she can have her beloved back. Despite Constantine's warnings of deals with demons, Georgina would attack John Constantine with a series of dark spells before Constantine would easily bring a stop to her attacks with a spell of her own. With her magic pulled away and no means to honor her deal to capture John Constantine, we would see a terrified Georgina dragged to hell following her failure. It would be here we would see our first glimpse of the demonic Nergal (Joaquin Phoenix) who was shown to be watching the whole proceedings. With Georgina stopped, Nightmare Nurse would remove her veil on the asylum as Constantine found Blythe and Elle waiting for him. Blythe would tell Constantine that this was bigger than just him and it was time he realized he would need help. As Constantine nodded his head, the closing part of this chapter would see Frank Truro angrily storm out of his office with news of Constantine being discharged as he swore to handle matters himself.

With act five coming to an end, we'd then begin act six which was titled Distorted Illusions. In a stark contrast from the rest of the acts, John Constantine would wake up in a vastly different world. Here both his father Thomas and mother Mary Anne (Kathryn Hunter) would still be alive and be a loving pair of parents to John and his sister Cheryl. Further surprising would be in this act that Cheryl would be happily married to Tony Masters who was shown to be a loving husband to his wife. Adding further intrigue to this chapter would be the introduction of Maureen Constantine (Michelle Dockery) who was John's wife with whom he had children. Despite this seemingly tranquil and happy life things didn't seem right to Constantine who couldn't shake the feeling that there was something off about this life. As we'd quickly learn in a scene between Elle, Blythe and Nightmare Nurse that Constantine had vanished and the only way none of them could find him would be if he was off world. As Constantine continued to remain unsettled by this world, finally he'd be introduced to Stanley Manor (Rege Jean Page). A wealthy industrialist who had found that all the power, influence and money in the world couldn't save him from time. Stanley Manor had found a way to create his own world one in which he is all powerful and now he had brought in John Constantine and was offering him the life he truly deserved.

While Constantine may have found this offer compelling, we would be introduced to a new character in the franchise. This would be a psychic named Zed (Thandie Newton) who had found ways of seeing Stanley Manor and his world. Haunted by these visions and of Constantine. It would be Zed who reached out to Papa Midnite and was put in contact with Blythe and the others. With her ability to see into this world, Zed would be able to see the darkness surrounding Stanley Manor and those who he brought into his world for their slice of heaven. Thanks to a spell by Midnite, Elle and Blythe were able to appear before Constantine in this world and warn him of Manor before Stanley in a display of his power would cast them out. Decreeing proudly that he could make the impossible possible, Manor would talk to Constantine as a peer and say he had heard of Constantine's power and capability. Calling this an opportunity to build a new world, one which was free of curses and deals. Stanley spoke of becoming a new god as he revealed like others he had made a deal with Nergal. Yet he had founded and formed his own world in an attempt to break those chains and with Constantine's help, they could make this reality the new reality.

Countering Manor that there was a time when he would have readily accepted an escape or a dream. Constantine says now he wouldn't change what has happened because he knows it has made him the person he is and shaped him to be the man to stop Nergal. So he will not hide in another dimension and be at the bidding of another devil. Despite Manor's attempts to blind Constantine with visions of his loving family and threats of turning this into a personal hell. Constantine would use his gifts to escape the dimension where he'd rejoin Blythe, Elle, Nightmare Nurse and Zed. It would be here that John Constantine would finally agree to work with the group and stop Nergal once and for all. Meanwhile to wrap up the fifth act once and for all, we'd see Nergal appear before a trembling Stanley Manor. Despite mockingly being impressed with the world Nergal made it clear that Manor had failed him like all the others and worse he'd tried to back out of his deal. This is why his consequences would be a little more specific and before his very eyes, the world Stanley had created would become his own personal hell. As act six wrapped up, we would then commence Act Seven which would gradually bring us more into the present day and was entitled Death and Cigarettes.

This would open with Margaret Ames contacting John Constantine and warning him that Truro was after him. On top of this she would give him a tip of a series of mysterious deaths. As Constantine began to revisit his old haunts and see flashes of his past. He would be confronted by a livid Chas Chandler and a fight would break out between the pair. During this fight we'd learn that Chas as per Constantine's spell which he cast on him would constantly be brought back to life following his death. This meant constant pain from the resurrection process. This would lead to John introducing Chas to the Nightmare Nurse who accessed him and called what he had a limited immortality. Nightmare Nurse had also taken an interest in the spate of killings and would recognize these deaths as souls being drained from bodies. As the trio looked over the latest series of bodies, John would be stunned to see Maureen in the real world and not Stanley Manor's world as she was in fact a nurse at the hospital. Reeling from this vision Constantine would leave the hospital unaware he was being watched by Frank Truro. Reuniting with Zed, Constantine would learn these killings were the work of a sorcerer and in turn he would be forced to return to Papa Midnite's club despite Midnite's earlier warnings.

Despite their earlier bad blood, Papa Midnite would agree to help Constantine as he made it clear this would mean that in turn John Constantine would owe him a favor. On hearing the news of souls being drained, Midnite remarks that normally he'd believe it to be the work of their mutual friend Elle. However he knows this is not the case. Believes this to be the work of a sorcerer by the name of Felix Faust (Oded Fehr). This would very much serve as our introduction to the character of Faust. Believed to be a centuries old sorcerer who for centuries was imprisoned, Faust had recently been freed from his prison and is seeking to regain his strength by feeding off of the souls of others. Warning John that all Faust would need is to feed off of someone like John's friend Chas and he would be more powerful than they could deal with. In secret as Constantine had this meeting with Midnite, Frank Truro would begin to grow convinced that Constantine was the one carrying out these crimes. Meanwhile Faust while looking for a victim would happen upon Chas and sense the life from him and begin to line him up as his next target. As Faust captured Chas and prepared to drain him of his soul and life, John Constantine would rush to the scene only to be confronted by Frank Truro. Truro would hold Constantine at gun point as he said that he knows what kind of man John is and the trail of bodies he has left behind.

Hearing this commotion, Felix Faust would appear before the pair and attack Truro. He would in turn begin to drain Truro of his soul until Constantine would hit him with a spell sending Faust a step back and sparing Truro. As Frank began to see the error of his ways, we would see Faust and Constantine begin a battle of spells. Here Constantine would begin to realize that as dangerous as Faust was with his spells. He was in fact a limited sorcerer and someone who uses magic beyond his own means and understanding based on his own arrogance. As Faust's spells would put everyone in danger Chas would wrap his arms around Faust as he recognized his true power. With Faust struggling Chas would yell for Constantine to strike him down. Despite his hesitancy, John would put his trust in Chas and Chas' warning to Faust that only one of them will come back from this as Constantine cast a spell to kill them both. As a stunned Truro watched on Chas would then recover from his death and be resurrected once more. This would then wrap up Truro's storyline as he admitted his wrong doing and agreed to drop his pursuit of John. As Truro departed, Chas and Constantine would reconnect with Chas pledging to live his life anew and see the good he could do with this gift.

This would lead to our final act of the Constantine solo film which was entitled The Curse of the Constantines. This chapter would very much open with a bang as Constantine would find himself, Zed, Chas, Chantinelle, Nightmare Nurse, Blythe and Papa Midnite all transported before Nergal. This would truly display Nergal's power and show him to be a step above all the enemies and entities Constantine had faced thus far. Shown to revel in his role in Constantine's life as he proudly proclaimed himself the author of all of Constantine's pain and suffering. Now annoyed that Constantine has amassed this little motley crew of friends and allies Nergal says he will delight in making those Constantine love suffer. On listening to Nergal, it would be Midnite who told of Nergal's legacy. An all powerful demonic entity who was the son of a witch and burned at the stake for his crimes against humanity. Blythe would then fill in more blanks as she stated he is someone who quickly rose in the hierarchy of Hell under Lucifer's watch but had very much broken the rules by latching onto one human like this. The reason for this as we'd learn was because Nergal was in fact an ancestor of Constantine and the pair did in fact share the same blood and Nergal sought to prove the demonic traits in his bloodline.

However as Constantine would counter Nergal had not thought his plan through well here with who he had gathered. Constantine would remind Negal that Chas would be resurrected before his eyes over and over again. He would also remind Nergal that Chantinelle, Nightmare Nurse and Blythe were supernatural beings with whom he is merely working with just to stop him while Midnite and him could be enemies the very next day. This would very much trim the field down for Negal who set his sights on Zed while the others looked on. Confused as to why Constantine had done this, Zed would curse at him when Nergal snatched her by the throat only in turn to be sent flying backwards by an unknown force. It would be here that Constantine revealed he had figured it all out, the reason Nergal made all these deals rather than target John himself. It was because he wasn't able to due to them sharing the same blood! It would be then that Constantine and Zed would reveal that in between chapters the pair had a one night stand and now Zed was carrying Constantine's child. This would mean she was also carrying Constantine's blood and that Nergal could not touch her or hurt her himself! Livid at his plan falling to pieces Nergal would threaten Constantine and warn him that he would come for him and those he cared about.

However before Nergal could send them on their way, he would be confronted by the arrival of the angel Zauriel (Austin Butler). An angel of the lord who had come to stop Nergal and his plot. We'd see Nergal's attempts to flee be thwarted thanks to the spells of Constantine and in turn Zauriel would banish Nergal to hell. With Nergal banished to hell, Blythe would reveal that Lucifer would strip him of all his powers and gifts. Standing before Constantine and his allies, Zauriel would remark that there are a lot of eyes and expectation on Constantine. He would also remark that Constantine had best get used to working as part of a team before vanishing. With their group all returned to earth, we would see Constantine, Zed and Chas all look to travel together and be surprisingly joined by Chantinelle who was at this point a trusted ally of Constantine. While this quartet would vanish, we would see the demon Blythe and Midnite talking. Here Midnite would muse that with the fall of the other demons, Blythe was now free and the most powerful demon on earth. With a smirk, Blythe would call it a clearing of the table before her and Midnite would agree to work together as the film came to a close.

WONDER GIRL CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT!

In some exciting news today, a new character has been confirmed to be making their live action debut as part of the third Wonder Woman film. This character will be Cassandra 'Cassie' Sandsmark. The daughter of museum curator Helena Sandsmark, Cassie was said to be a mischievous girl who had a penchant for trouble even though it was never her true intention. It is said that when Cassie meets Diana Prince (Jaime Alexander), she forms a quick bond with her just like her mother and very quickly begins to realize that there is more to Diana than perhaps beneath the surface. In an effort to help Diana, Cassie would procure several ancient items herself which would change the course of her life forever.
The casting process for Cassie Sandsmark was said to have been one of the most competitive and packed yet. With the growing success and the popularity of the DC Extended Universe so far, this role would very quickly become a much vied for piece of business. Some names in the early stages we know to have undertaken some conversations for the role included Ariel Winter, Elle Fanning, Laya Deleon Hayes and Bea Miller. A few names we know to have reached out and auditioned for the role included Millie Gibson, Jade Pettyjohn, Megan Charpentier, Meg Donnelly and Brighton Sharbino. Of these names all confirmed to have undergone discussions, meetings and auditions it is said that Meg Donnelly was for a time seen as the leading contender before another decision was made. However the directors and producers are eager to work with Donnelly in the future and are already discussing alternate roles.

ded1d72684ebe60bcddfcf12d017bdbe57474607.gif

We can now reveal that the actress chosen to bring Cassie Sandsmark to the big screen will be none other than Cobra Kai star Mary Mouser. Mouser of course is not the first Cobra Kai star to be given a role in the DCEU thus far with Gianni Decenzo, Jacob Bertrand, Dallas Dupree Young and Tanner Buchanan all being cast as Aqualad, Roy Harper, Wally West and Jason Todd respectively. It was said that Mary's performance as well as a screen test with Jaime Alexander and Ella Balinska was what really sold casting directors. As she was perfectly able to convey the courage, fierce loyalty, and youthful energy, but also a touch of stubbornness and a somewhat righteous, black-and-white view of the world that fans know to be synonymous with Cassie.

DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE PRESENTS
7JPi33NKzt1pmJJsvhZvuBoISAU.png

RAISE THEM BONES
As we continued forward with the third chapter of the DC Extended Universe. The next film would be our third entry in the Justice League Dark storyline. Following two very well received origin stories for both Zatanna (Ana De Armas) and John Constantine (Dan Stevens) who were arguably the two bigger names in the line up. We'd see this film as one of the DC's further experiments as it branches out in these chapters. Boasting a stellar cast this film would of course be headed by Aaron Eckhart who would be portraying the titular character of Alec Holland and his transformation. When we'd meet Alec however we wouldn't see the monstrous Swamp Thing at first. Instead we would begin in more simple and humble times as we saw Alec Holland as a botanist and researcher.
Studying biology and science in the hopes to prolong natural life and further his research. Alec Holland was shown in his time as a student to be dutiful and solely focused on his project. Not one for parties or a loud character, Alec was rarely seen out of the lab where he was personally mentored by Jordan Schiller (Patrick Kilpatrick). Schiller was as we'd learn a retired scientist turned lecturer and someone who was truly passionate in inspiring his students. Seeing Alec's intelligence and drive, Schiller very much looked to further and encourage Alec on his projects while at the same time urging him not to miss out on his personal life also. On the opposite end of this was another lecturer and professor that Alec would encounter. This being Jason Woodrue (Steve Buscemi). A cold and stoic individual who had little to no interest in being a people's favorite. Woodrue would see potential in Alec's work and even began researching ideas of his own. However he would never stop being a harsh and cold figure as he pushed Alec to continue.

As Alec continued this research he would meet a woman known as Linda (Katie Holmes). This would be a big stage in Alec's life as he fell in love for the first time. A lab assistant for both Schiller and Woodrue, Linda had very much seen the clashes between the professors in their ideology. Following their graduation both Alec and Linda would get married at a service where Schiller would serve as Alec's best man. They would then begin to work for the Genomic Corporation where Alec began to continue his research in Biological cell growth. Researching this privately in his own lab in the swamp, Alec would begin developing a bio restorative formula which was designed to stimulate the growth of plants and allow them to thrive even in the harshest environments. Of course with news of this breakthrough came attention from a secretive organization known the Conclave. A secretive operation of government officials and the 1 percent. This conclave looked to use and monopolize Alec's research for their own gain.

Yet their attempts to sway Alec and recruit him into the fold or outright buy him out were refuted. In turn one night at a dinner at the lab which Alec and Linda were joined by professor Schiller. They were unaware that earlier that day a member of the conclave had planted a bomb in his lab. This bomb would detonate as Alec was in the kitchen area opening a bottle of wine. The force of the explosion would kill Schiller and Linda immediately while Holland would be sent careening through several of his chemicals and flew out into the swamp where he'd die in the swamp. In a horrifying series of scenes however we wouldn't just see Alex perish but in what was reminiscent of a body horror. We'd see his chemicals react with the swamp and the roots begin to take hold of his body in joints. While Holland was claimed by the swamp, we'd learn that the crime scene had been closed down due to the Conclave's connections. Sadly while Schiller's body had been very much vaporized by the blast, that also Linda's body had been kept for experimentation to see if she had been exposed to any chemicals which the Conclave could use to rediscover Holland's recipe.
As we'd learn as vines continued to painfully enter Alec's skin. The chemicals and Alec's death would imbue the swamp with Alec's Consciousness and memories. With this new consciousness we'd see the plant life begin to take a semblance of a human form as it rose up from the bog as the creature known as Swamp Thing. As we'd quickly establish it was the rise of Swamp Thing which was crafted and orchestrated by a long line of earth elementals under the orders of the Green. Described as a magical force representing all plant life, Alec was very much the perfect candidate to be it's champion when it was in need of protection. As he was bought into the Green, Alec would also meet the members of the Parliament of Trees. These were former members and protectors of the Green.

The first individual that Alec would encounter would be one of the very first individuals would be one of the Green's very first champions. This would be a former Faith healer by the name of Gene LaBostrie (Dan Fogler). From the 1900s LaBostrie would very much prove to be a mentor like figure to Alec as he told his origin. LaBostrie as we learn was a former fisherman and faith healer whose beliefs and methods would come into into conflict with a local priest and cult leader Father Tocsin (Quentin Tarantino). A corrupt and vicious individual who loved exploiting the power his position had. Tocsin did not appreciate or approve someone contesting the word as he preached. Instead of welcoming LaBostrie, Tocsin would target him and with the help of his followers he would poison LaBostrie and his wife Ada (Alison Sudol). In his dying moments Gene would be selected to be a champion for the Green and in his first acts he would avenge his wife's death and kill the cult who claimed his family.

It would be in this conversation that we first heard the term of the the rot as LaBostrie described Tocsin as an emissary of. Following Gene, would be Brother Jonah (Peter MacNicol). Perhaps the very first known champion of the Green ever chosen. He created the invocation of "Sanctuarium Folium Viride" (Sanctuary of the Green Leaf) which allowed those who believed in the Green to be placed under Brother Jonah's protection from the witch trials. Unfortunately for Jonah in this time he would encounter a rogue witch know as Wither (Julia Garner). Another selected prospect of the Rot, it would be Wither who saw Brother Jonah burned at the stake. In doing so however Wither would unknowingly be the one who first started the Green choosing it's champion to combat the Rot as Jonah would return and confront Wither. Shown to not be fully corrupted by the rot but instead someone who felt wronged by the world. Wither and Jonah's confrontation would be vicious and saw both lives truly claimed with Jonah's spirit now appearing before Alec.

While both Jonah and Gene's spirits would be respectful and welcoming to Alec. We'd quickly see that not all the Parliament of Trees were as receptive to Alec Holland and his story. This would include our next introduction as Alec met the spirt of Alicia Collins (Lara Jean Chorostecki) who went by the name Lady Jane. As we'd learn from her disapproving nature of Lady Jane. That she was once a wealthy heiress betrothed to a man known as Aleister Huston (Alex Vincent). While to the outside world Huston was a reputable businessman. The facts couldn't be further from the truth. The truth is he was a slum lord who operated in child slavery at his local steel mill. A horribly abusive man who would beat Alicia at any turn. Aleister as we would learn would be the latest champion of the rot as he looked to ruin society. During one fateful night Alicia would confront her husband who would viciously beat her before drowning her in the local river.

Taking the mantle of the protector of the Green. The power imbued in Lady Jane would make her vicious and angry. In a similar fashion to what we saw from Rosalie Cullen in Twilight. The violent nature of how Jane passed led to her being consumed with anger and rage. Unlike the other members of the parliament of trees there was a lot more of a wilted look to Jane as she appeared as a skeletal, withered figure in the vines. Consumed by her anger and rage Jane would as we'd learn viciously kill Huston in the very river he got her as she impaled him several times over with vines and thorns. Now serving the parliament of trees, Jane was not as welcoming as the others as she questioned if Alec was worthy and had the strength to continue the mantle. If Lady Jane met Alec with dismissive intent and a noted lack of care. That paled in comparison to Lady Weeds (Tao Okamoto).

Unlike the other members of the Parliament of trees who appeared before Alec one by one to converse. Lady Weeds would instead attack him. Similar to Lady Jane in the questioning of Alec's worth. Lady Weeds didn't think that Alec was worthy of being the Green's champion and would sadistically trap him in the vines as she taunted him that he wasn't enough. Very much more insect like in her appearance compared to the others. Lady Weeds would mock Alec for clinging to his human form As she tore into his flesh this would very much be in a contrast from the origin and sacrifice of Brother Jonah, the mentor like figure of Gene and the judgement and anger of Jane. Instead Alec began to experience the hostility and cruelty of the Green as Lady Weeds would reveal that unlike the others who were made she chose this life. A former eco terrorist now champion of the Green, it is unknown who Lady Weeds combatted as she wasn't as willing to share her story.

Instead as she constricted Alec and tore into his flesh calling his want to hang on to his humanity weakness. Calling his memories of Linda weakness. It seemed Lady Weeds' point was to show Alec as a member of the green he was above humanity. Weeds' actions however would cause conflict as both Gene and Jonah began to step in. This would show while all grouped together there was a lack of harmony between the Parliament of Trees. Despite her earlier indifference, Lady Jane would finally interrupt and force Lady Weeds to step down. As Alec fell to his knees and caught a glimpse of the Swamp Thing beneath his skin. He would come to the realization that he was something else and no longer human. Accepting of his fate, Alec would find that despite this he was haunted by visions of her death. While both Brother Jonah and Gene understood exactly how Alec was feeling, they knew he had to get his emotions in check in order to control his new abilities as Swamp Thing. Lady Jane meanwhile knew fully well of revenge and for the first time would sympathize with Alec as she would tell him that being the protector would mean many things and allow him to satiate that need.

Encouraging Alec to use his needs to use his anger and need for revenge as motivation to get him prepared to fulfill the true task of being a champion of the Green. Lady Weeds meanwhile would hide in the shadows with a warning to Alec that she would be watching. From here the film would abruptly shift to a detective Matthew Cable (Will Estes). The city police detective would return home from duty to find his wife Alice (Lizzy Caplan) waiting for him solemnly. In some news, Alice would tell Matt of the death of Linda and that a service would be held in Marais. Cable was very much distraught at the death of his friend as we'd learn that Cable and Linda had been like siblings from a young age. During a talk with his wife Matt would not show as much consideration to Alec as he revealed that while he loved Linda like a sister. he never got the deal with Alec as he called him aloof and introverted. After the funeral Cable would head to the local police station only to find the case closed.

This would greatly frustrate Cable who would be very much told to stand down by a government operative known as Max Cash (Dean Winters). Cash would advise Cable that this had been risen well up the chain and that Estes should know his place. At the same time Matt would meet several of Cash's colleagues who also met him with a noted indifference. This would include Max's second in command Deborah Wicker (Daryl Hannah) as well as Eric Neiderman (Tj Ramini). None of these agents would really give Matt the time of day. Instead the only soldier who seemed to at least treat him with some respect was Jefferson Bolt (Mike Colter). Understanding Matt's frustration it would be Bolt who assured him that despite their cold nature this was a crew of skilled operatives who would get to the bottom of things. What neither Bolt or Cable realized is that while Cash and his agents were normally on the right side. This operation was very much a case of Cash and his team going private. Their sponsors were the cloak and dagger operation known as the Conclave and they were to search the Swamps of Marais for anything they can find of Alec.

As Alec began to find himself consumed not just by his need for revenge but also his want for justice we would begin to see Alec trawl the swamps of Marais as the Swamp Thing creature. While at first merely rumor and innuendo news of a creature in the swamps would soon get out and Matt would begin to look into it. As he did so Matt would also encounter a few other individuals with vested interest in the swamp. The first of which would be a duo of supernatural TV hosts by the name of Terry Thirteen (Luke McFarlane) and Roy Raymond (Mark O'Brien). This would be a reunion for Cable and Raymond who were partners when Raymond was a detective before he turned into paranormal investigation. In private Roy would admit to Matt this was a sham and a ruse for profit but that he and Terry had to follow any and all leads. He would also meet a local reporter by the name of Angelica Hummock (Anna Chlumsky), a young and ambitious woman. Angelica would reveal that Marais wasn't the town it was believed to be and she hoped this story would help change things.

Along with Angelica, Matt would also meet a journalist by the name of Liz Tremayne (Jennifer Saunders). It would be Tremayne who was able to give Matt more history of Marais. Revealing this is not the first time there has been rumors of a creature in the swamp. Liz advised that like the death of Linda and Alec everything would soon be closed down by the man who has his foot firmly on the throat of Marais. Liz in many ways would act as a mentor figure for Anjelica and as she clued in Matt to the city of Marais and it's history. She would advise Matt that this city very much belonged to the Arcane family. As Matt looked to investigate the swamp and continued his research, by chance he would run into Abigail Arcane (Maggie Gyllenhaal). A paramedic with whom he would quickly form a close friendship with. Matt's dogged pursuit for justice wouldn't go unnoticed by Alice who while supportive wanted her husband to stay safe. This is why Alice would reach out to Abby and ask her to keep an eye on him knowing that Matt wasn't one to just stop.

As Matt and Abby formed a friendship reminiscent of his with Linda. We would learn that Abby was in fact a friend of Linda as well having met her a few times and Alec. As the two spoke of their grief, Matt would remember Liz's statement and begin to learn about Abby's family. Revealing that her family was one of wealth and business which she had the furthest interest from. Abby instead focused herself on helping others. She would also tell the story of her father Grigori Arcane (Will Patton). Calling him the once strongest man she knew and a veteran. Abby would reveal that due to a mental disorder he was now declared incompetent and her house was shared by her wealthy uncle Anton (Gary Oldman). Asking Abby if there was any truth to the monsters of Marais rumors, Abby would admit that this is a story which her father always told. Seen as more a myth or legend, Abby would often say her father presented these stories as a heroic tale of a protector but that her uncle Anton would always mock these stories.

Discussing with Liz in private what he had learned. Liz Tremayne would acknowledge that perhaps Grigori knew more than being the crazy local drunk he had been painted at. As Liz looked to arrange a meeting with Grigori however it would be closed off quickly by Anton who claimed his brother wasn't up to things. Tragically that night Anton would sit for a drink with his brother. As the pair conversed openly Grigori would reveal that he has known for a long time Anton has been drugging him in an attempt to convince the world he is mad. Remarking that he can't have Grigori's story of the Monster being put out there. Anton would reveal himself to have full knowledge of the Swamp as he revealed he had in fact drugged his own brother. In the aftermath of this, the story would get out that Grigori had passed in his sleep much to the despair of Abby. She would be comforted by Alice while Liz Tremayne and Anjelica set about eulogizing a notable figure with respect. During an attempt to talk to his niece however we would see a noted coldness from Abby to Anton as she remarked her disbelief in the Monster of the swamp and the only monster of Marais was here before her.

As Matt continued his own research we'd see Max Cash and his own team begin to conduct their own in the swamp. It would be then in a conversation over radio that we'd learn for the first time that Anton Arcane was in fact a member of the Conclave. In fact Anton was one of the founding members with his fingers in many pies. By chance it would be Max and his team who came across Matt and we'd see Matt's suspicions grow of the mercenary unit as he remarked they was searching for something. While Max, Deborah and Neiderman would escort Matt out the swamp we'd see Terry Thirteen and Roy Raymond sneak in for their latest filming venture. At the same time Jefferson Bolt as he patrolled the swamp would be knocked out and blindsided by an unseen individual. As Cash and his unit escorted Matt out the swamp, it would be Matt who pointed out they was missing someone. This would put a very interesting dynamic in the team as Cash was shown to be a no man left behind leader while Deborah was more focused on the mission. Neiderman was also not shown to be particularly bothered as Cash prepared to go back in the Swamp.

However this would soon be intercepted by the arrival of his superior officer Avery Sunderland (Danny Huston). A military man and an associate of Anton Arcane. Sunderland was a fearsome figure and he declared there would be no more solo trips into the swamp. This would intrigue Cable who looked for answers but he would be quickly shut down. Sunderland would then introduce some of his colleagues in a Nelson Strong (Ritchie Coster) and a mercenary by the name of Headhunter (Ronda Rousey). Along with this pair would be Avery's daughter and a soldier in her own right Constance (Sarah Carter). While Avery would send this trio into the swamp along with Max. He would reveal that Marais PD and it's officers were now under his rule. Ordering Cable be taken there for trespassing as Cable was dragged into the building he would catch sight of the now disgraced professor Jason Woodrue who was setting up a lab in the police station.

As we'd learn from secret discussions it was Anton who had a vested interest in the research of Alec Holland as he longed to try his experiments on humans. This is what brought Jason Woodrue into his path as Woodrue we'd learn had lost his position as a professor following a confrontation with Schiller and was later rendered unable to teach following testing on one of his own students named Annie Chamberlain (Madelyn Cline) who was afflicted with a genetic condition. While Woodrue's obsession with Chamberlain was far from healthy, he was devoted to curing her even if this meant capturing her and making her his own personal test subject. Which very much was fine with Arcane as along as he carried out experiments of Arcane's bidding also. During their walk through the swamp both Terry and Roy meanwhile would happen on a cabin. A very isolated cabin out of the way and it would be here they would discover a handcuffed Jefferson. As Bolt urged them to escape however the pair would be held captive by a gun wielding Zachary Nail (Peter Stomare).

Consumed by grief and flashes of memories of his past. A haunted Swamp Thing despite the warnings of Lady Weeds to not be led by his grief would return to the site of his death. He would be angered on arrival to find the scene so interfered with by the agents but his rage would soon turn to shock as he encountered a local man Chester Williams (Zach Galifinakis). A conservationist who was once a close friend of Alec and Linda Holland. Chester was there to pay respects to his fallen friends. In doing so he would come face to face with Swamp thing. Despite his horror at the monster, Chester would calm down as Alec swore to him he was once his friend. Albeit with some hesitancy Chester would talk with Alec and reveal since that day there has been a lot of weirdness in this swamp. A lot of government officials and it would be here Chester revealed that they took Linda's body. This would enrage Alec who struggled to control his emotions in his new form. In turn Alec would rush off into the swamp in a rage.

As he did so we'd go back to the cabin where Nail had now held Thirteen, Raymond and Bolt captive. Revealed to be a twisted zealot and potential serial killer who had haunted Marais. Nail was not someone who could be bargained with or bought. As he prepared to torture and capture the trio, the one thing he didn't count on was their screams for help drawing attention that deep in the swamp. Which in turn would show us the true fury of Swamp Thing who ripped through the wall of the cabin and cast Nail into the water. While Thirteen and Roy watched on in shock, Jefferson Bolt would free himself and then them before telling them to run. As they fled from the Swamp with Bolt closely following they would eventually encounter the mercenary unit. To Bolt's shock however Nelson and Headhunter had little interest in saving people. Instead Constance ordered soldiers to take Thirteen and Raymond captive in the same jail that held Cable. Bolt would then realize this was all one big hunting expedition and confront and strike Cash which in turn led to him being held at gunpoint by Strong who had Bolt trapped also.

A fearful Nail meanwhile would experience fear for the first time as he was now the prey and stalked through the swamp. While Lady Jane, Brother Jonah and Gene watched from the shadows to see Swamp Thing's capabilities as the Green's champion. Lady Weeds would begin to taunt and appear before Nail to further scare him. As Swamp Thing finally caught him Nail's piercing screams would echo through the swamp. In turn this would draw out Headhunter, Strong, Cash, Constance and several soldiers who radioed in to Wicker and Neiderman for back up. As they delved into the swamp they would eventually come across a haunting image of Nail impaled onto a tree almost in a crucifixion. While the soldiers from the conclave would all look to regroup we would see Bolt now held captive with Cable, Thirteen and Raymond. It would be here that this trio told Cable of their experiences in the swamp. Cable in turn would warn them of the mad professor outside the cell in Jason Woodrue.

As all this transpired meanwhile Chester Williams would make a quiet exit from the swamp and he would meet Abby Arcane. While the pair had never been truly friendly. Abby would listen as Chester told her the tale of his encounter with Alec. Despite being willing to listen she would need to see it for herself. Knowing there was more to this story Abby would also reach out to Liz Tremayne and Anjelica to investigate things further. While Abby Arcane with Chester's help would go into the swamp Liz and Anjelica would begin to look into the disappearance of Matt Cable as Alice reached out for help to find her husband. Returning to the swamp Chester would bring Abby to the site of Alec and Linda's death. It wouldn't be long for the pair to be haunted by the taunts of Lady Weeds and the warnings from Lady Jane to turn around. They would soon be confronted by Swamp Thing who told them to leave as Alec Holland was no longer living and this was him now.

Chester however would see this as an opportunity they wouldn't normally have. To tell Alec's story to the world and expose those responsible. Alec however would want to handle things his own way but Abby would counter that he couldn't do it without help. Wanting to help Alec the pair would reveal that there are some strange things going on in Marais and in the swamp. Abby would then reveal that she believes this to be the work of her uncle. From here we would see the mercenary units all regrouping as they prepared to head back into the swamp. A beaming Nelson Strong would confide to Avery that this was his last big hunt. Dying from terminal cancer he saw the monster of marais as his moby dick. As Chester and Abby would seek out Liz Tremayne and Anjelica as potential allies, during a conversation with this pair we would learn that prisoners were being kept at Marais police station and this would be Swamp Thing's next play. To rescue those being held captive and learn what they knew. Thinking this through Abby Arcane would plan to use her connections to get inside the police station. What she wouldn't bank on would be Constance Sunderland who met Abby and was far from impressed with Arcane trying to sneak in.

At the same time Chester would catch sight of Jason Woodrue and realize there was a lot more going on. While the mercenaries all armed up Anton Arcane would sit with Woodrue and ask what Chamberlain's condition was. Woodrue would reveal the condition was beautiful and he coined it Brimstone. Remarking that he looks at these monsters as gods. Woodrue wasn't in fact looking for a cure as he was to evolve humanity. Anton would ask how Woodrue's work was going on his other subject and Woodrue remarked there was still things he needed to understand but they would get there. He hoped with the capture of this so called creature of the swamp this would bridge the gap. Their conversation would soon be intercepted however when a commotion broke out and Anton rushed out the lab to find Constance beating Abby Arcane. As Constance told the story of Abby sneaking in, Anton seemingly amused would have her thrown in the same cage as Cable, Thirteen, Raymond and Bolt. It would be here that Anton revealed the full extent of his evil as he gave Woodrue permission to conduct human trials if necessary on his research.

Continuing their research together it would be Liz Tremayne who managed to finally connect ties between Arcane and Sunderland. As she planned a potential expose to expose the corruption in the town. She would be advised by Anjelica to hold off for a moment as they would be put firmly in harms way. This was shown when in an attempt to tie up loose ends, these women were greeted by the bounty hunter Headhunter. Remarking that Arcane is aware of their research, Headhunter says she has been asked to bring them in but warns them that doesn't mean she can't hurt them. As Headhunter brought them to the station it appeared Woodrue was lining up his first human trial and he intended to take samples from Annie and also Abby Arcane. Before he could do so however Chester would call out for help and Swamp Thing would come out of nowhere to attack the station. While the guards would be distracted, Chester would look to save the prisoners. As a stunned Cable looked at Swamp Thing he would be stunned to learn that this was in fact Alec Holland.

During the groups attempted escape Jason Woodrue would attack Chester with a scalpel. While neither man was a skilled fighter Chester would manage to shove Woodrue to the ground. At the same time Matt Cable would be confronted by a knife wielding Neiderman while Bolt battled Max Cash. With all the stress and the carnage we would see Annie Chamberlain escape her binds and transform into a fearsome creature known as Brimstone. Burning a hole in the wall Anna would make her escape from Marais and Woodrue finally. While Chester would escort Thirteen to safety Roy Raymond would see Neiderman getting the better of Cable and would look to aid his friend. As he tackled Eric however he would be slashed across the cheek with a knife before Cable hit Neiderman with a cross. This allowed the two men to escape while bringing Abby to safety. Bolt meanwhile managed to slam Cash onto a desk before he'd escort the journalists out while the mercenaries focused their attention onto Swamp Thing.

During the ensuing battle we would see Swamp Thing manage to impale and kill Headhunter on a broken desk before viciously throwing Neiderman through a window killing him instantly. While Max Cash looked to pull his team back we would see Deborah Wicker not as willing to follow orders and in turn realizing the odds were against him Max Cash would break his never leave a man behind as he ran on his own accord. At the same time Jason Woodrue also took this as his moment to escape taking several vials of research with him and also procuring some of Swamp Thing's DNA for good measure. While Anton Arcane marveled at the power of Swamp Thing, he would be backed away by Deborah Wicker and Avery Sunderland. Nelson Strong meanwhile saw this as his chance and he recruited Constance Sunderland to help him combat the monster. Despite Avery's pleas to fall back Constance would open fire on Swamp Thing who effortlessly flung her across the room and against the jail cells. Nelson meanwhile would open fire on Swamp Thing drawing his attention as he pursued him, Deborah Wicker, Avery Sunderland and Anton Arcane into the swamp.

Returning to the scene Jefferson Bolt would find an injured Constance Sunderland and pull her from the building where Abby Arcane would show her growth as a character and begin to tend to her wounds. While this went on Chester Williams and Matt Cable would explore the lab and not only find Linda Holland's body on ice but also records of Anton Arcane and Avery Holland's criminal dealings. This information would be passed on to Liz Tremayne to publish while Anjelica went live with the help of Roy Raymond and Terry Thirteen's equipment as they exposed the corruption in the town while maintaining the secret of Swamp Thing. During their run through in the swamp Arcane and his last remaining soldiers would be stunned to find themselves haunted by the Parliament of Trees. While Brother Jonah urged them to repent and seek forgiveness for the evil they had committed and Gene warned them of the punishment they would face. It would be Lady Jane who struck first as she attacked Deborah Wicker and injured her severely so that she would face justice for what she did.

Despite the forces against him Nelson Strong would remain indignant about this being his last hunt. He would be met however by Lady Weeds who viciously tore into him and mocked him about giving him the warrior's death he deserved. As Avery and Anton stood stunned Swamp Thing would emerge into the swamp and confront the pair for their crimes. Cocksure and with a confident smirk Anton would piece it together that Holland was the Swamp Thing. Commenting that he saw more potential in Alec's work than anyone. Anton would shockingly reveal before everyone that he saw true potential in Holland's work and he wanted it for more than just a profit. Revealing that this swamp has more than just the Green and that because of this Swamp he has lived for centuries. Anton Arcane would out himself as immortal and a stunning reveal that Grigori was one of his children. One who he was strongly embarrassed by and that is why he killed him. However he has one son out there who he is proud of. One who is afflicted with a sickness from this swamp and who he is looking to save. This is why he wanted Alec's research to regenerate his dying cells.

Looking at Alec and what he had become, Anton remarked that he can see the Green understands conservation and natural order at all costs. Disgusted at what he has heard Avery would confront Anton about killing his own child when Anton would out that Avery was the one who personally planted and detonated the device which killed Alec, Linda and Schiller. This would consume Swamp Thing with rage as he turned to Avery while Anton managed to flee into the swamp. Recognizing his fate and the curse of his crimes, Avery would not apologize as he said that he was just following orders and carrying out his duties. Commenting that it was time for Alec to do the same, Avery didn't fight it as vines wrapped around him and hung him then and there in the swamp as Alec finally avenged Linda. In the aftermath of this we would see newspapers published and news reports which updated everyone on the goings on in Marais.

Deborah Wicker would be arrested and imprisoned for her crimes while the true corruption of Avery Sunderland and Anton Arcane was exposed. While a national manhunt would be carried out for Anton Arcane, we'd also learn that Jason Woodrue had gone to ground and we would see Max Cash now sporting a beard and a hoodie drowning his sorrows. Matt Cable would reunite with his wife Alice as the pair agreed to move to Marais permanently as he settled into his new role as the new Sheriff of Marais with both Jefferson Bolt and Roy Raymond joining him as deputies. Abby Arcane meanwhile would continue her work as a paramedic and use her families fortune to help others in Marais while Chester Williams resumed Alec's research in his honor as Abby funded the rebuilding of Alec's lab. Terry Thirteen meanwhile would continue his podcast and talk about the legends of Marais. The final scenes would show Alec Holland as Swamp Thing trawling through the Swamp as all the Parliament of Trees watch over their champion. Following the end of the film we would see a trio of post credit scenes, the first of which would show Max Cash continuing to drown his sorrows unaware he was being stalked by Annie Chamberlain. The second scene would show Jason Woodrue in a lab synthesizing his own serum before he'd shockingly inject himself. The final scene would show Anton in a dark, desolate and lifeless part of the Swamp. In a run down cabin Anton would come face to face with his son William (Brandon Flynn). With a smirk on his face, Anton says that perhaps he was looking at it wrong about William's gifts. Maybe he shouldn't attempt to rejuvenate him and instead let him ROT!
