Backstage News on WWE Possibly Nixing the Cruiserweight Title

There has reportedly been talk of dropping the WWE NXT Cruiserweight Title.

Sunday’s NXT WarGames event will see NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong defend against Joe Gacy, who does not meet the 205 pound weight limit for the cruiserweight division. This comes as WWE recently dropped the weight limit for some matches on the weekly WWE 205 Live TV show, and started allowing female Superstars to compete on the show.

In an update, it was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that there’s plans to drop the Cruiserweight Title as a way to switch things up. It remains to be seen if they will move forward with these plans, and what a new title would be based off of.

It will be interesting to see if Gacy wins the title from Strong this Sunday, and if this leads to the end of the NXT Cruiserweight Title.

Not mad at all if this were to happen given all the recent changes and the guys can easily slip into the NA Title picture. They just need to change the name of 205 Live aswell to some secondary NXT show.​

Yeah would be for the best IMO after all the roster changes. I hope 205 is kept in some way just as the NXT b show tho bc I think it's helpful for young talent, just change the name

205 Live was my favourite show at one point. You could always rely on it for quality matches, although the storylines always neeeded work. I liked when Pac was King of the Cruiserweights. Definitely a lot of great talent in that division.

Except now it's reversed in that the belt isn't needed but the show is doing good things for more NXT talent to get some reps.

I'm pretty sure 205 costs next to nothing to produce with them taping before NXT and it still has international TV deals so as long as those are in place it's really free money for them lol would be silly to cancel now

Yea I don't mind dropping 205 name could just rebrand the cw as LHW or something like that
