Its January 2019 and Tony Khan announces he is forming a new wresting promotion - All Elite Wrestling. His father gives him the financial backing, but he decides that if this project is ever going to work he must give it his full attention and steps down from all management positions for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC. This gives Tony a lot more powerful and financial spending power, as his focus and parameters are singular. This though isn't the biggest change that makes this alternative timeline different though. The biggest revelation that occurs is a completely different shift in the direction of the company. There is no signing of the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho or Jon Moxley. Instead, it is announced as he is accompanied by Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes, that AEW will be an exclusive women's promotion and in a similar fashion to Joshi promotions like Stardom and TJPW the intention is to have AEW become the central hub for women's wrestling not just in North America but the entire world. However, a statement is made early on that this will not be like what the federation did to the UK independent scene and that the dream is for synergy to exist and to be working alongside other women's focused promotion but he has no problem raiding mixed gender promotions because all of them have one thing in common. Putting women last.

At Double or Nothing on the 25th May. AEW will host it's first ever show and there is a promise that nothing will be held back and the intention is too put on the best show possible. This is the dream. This is All Elite Wrestling!

The first match to be announced for All Elite Wrestling's first ever pay per view would be match that Cody Rhodes would announce call the Casino Battle Royale, a modified rumble rules battle royal that would feature 17 entrants. It begins with a group of four wrestlers, and every three minutes, another group of four wrestlers enters, while the 17th and final entrant enters alone. The wrestlers are grouped based on the suit they drew from a deck of cards spades, diamonds, clubs, or hearts - and the order of when each group enters is based on a random draw of the cards. The 17th and final entrant is the wrestler who drew the joker. The winner receives a future AEW Women's world championship match. Although the groupings wouldn't be decided until the night of the show in the months leading up to the show all 17 entrants would be made public, there was no need for secrecy as the company wanted to get as many people as possible to tune in or buy a ticket for the show.

The first three names announced would all be talent from the United Kingdom, with Sadie Gibbs, Bea Priestley and Jamie Hayter confirmed to be taking part in the contest. It would also be confirmed that they had all been given working via permits, meaning there wouldn't be problem with working in the States moving forward. Priestley out of the three was the biggest name and it wasn't clear whether this meant she would no longer be part of Stardom long-term booking.

Impact Wrestling seemed to be fair game to AEW and a number of their wrestlers were tapped up and offered contracts that were clearly enough to convince them to risk it all and jump ships. Those that were announced for the Casino Battle Royale were Elayna Black, Winter (Katarina Leigh), Kiera Hogan, Lacey Ryan and Tenille Dashwood. There was a bit of backlash online with fans of Impact accusing Khan and the Rhodes of stealing talent with false promises and large bank balances.

Priestley wasn't the only member of Stardom that would be confirmed to have been signed and taking part with AZM, Mayu Iwatani, Riho and Saya Kamitani all confirmed to be part of the match. There was also confirmed that AEW and Stardom intended to have a strong partnership and the oppurtunity for workers of both rosters getting opportunities to spend time in both the States and Japan.

However, there was no favoritism being shown and it was confirmed that two of Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling biggest names including the current Princess of Princess Champion Miyu Yamashita and Yuku Sakazaki would would feature in the contest, although it was made clear that both women were working part-time and would remain part of TJPW until it was deemed they had wrapped up any commitments if they chose to. Brandi Rhodes would confirm that there would be no pressure on any workers feeling the need to jump ship, especially if they were an international star not native to the United States.

The final three confirmations in the match would be Kris Statlander (who was only in her fourth year as a wrestler and had been scrambling in the indie scene), Portuguese wrestler Shanna who to most was a relative unknown and Penelope Ford who had been making a name for herself in Combat Zone Wrestling.

Cody Rhodes would confirm that the future shot for the AEW Women's World Championship would take place in August, in what would be planned as the next major pay per view event although would make a point that the event's name had yet to be announced.

INTERNATIONAL GATEWAY

Tony Khan would announced that unlike the federation that were more considered in raiding an entire continent for all of its best workers, he wanted AEW to be able to showcase some of the very best talent from around the world and to give them credit where credit was due. Tony would inform that a number of championship matched would act as a showcase with a number of title belonging to other promotions being contested for during Double or Nothing.

British Promotion, Pro Wrestling EVE would have their primary championship belt the EVE Championship currently being held by Kay Lee Ray would be booked to defend the belt in a 'Three Way Dance' with two other member of the EVE roster taking part in the match. The challengers would both be former champions in Nina Samuels and Charlie Morgan.

There were rumours that NXT: UK was proving to be a bit of a thorn in the side in signing a number of wrestlers in the British scene to long term contracts, but no official statement had been given by any of the AEW management group on the situation so nothing was confirmed.

A few more members of Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling would feature on the card with the International Princess Championship also announced to be on the card with Natsumi Maki the inaugural champion defending the belt for the first time since winning the belt. Maki's opponent was selected by a committee featuring members of both AEW and TJPW and it was decided that highly popular Pom Harajuku would be a tough challenger, but also draw more fans both domestic and international.

Both Natsumi and Pom were confirmed to have signed part-time contracts with AEW and we expected to become regularly used on AEW show, especially in first few months of the promotion.

Despite being an Executive Vice President Brandi Rhodes would make her intentions known very early on, that she wasn't just working for AEW in a management role, but fully intended on being an active member of the roster. She would though take on the role of the heel very early on into this announcement by making a point that she needed a strong security force to protect her from interlopers and those that would attack her in order to gain some sort of advantage. Acting almost as if she was an A-List Hollywood celebrity that needed a high level of protection. Over a number of weeks she would recruit Nyla Rosa, Aja Kong and Awesome Kong and at any press conference or public appearance would appear with at least one of her 'security force' in tow.

When asked if she would be competing at Double or Nothing, Brandi would dismiss the idea instead speak up of the three women who had been her security force and announce them as being part of 'Queen Kong's Legion' and without saying it, it was implied that she was Queen Kong. Brandi would lay down an open challenge to any female trio around the the world to prove themselves and face QKL at Double or Nothing.

images

The answer would come from Japan with Emi Sakura declaring herself not just as a guest, but also as a confirmed mainstay and would answer the challenge with three signed contracted certified by a representative of Tony Khan. Sakura would announce that under her guidance she would be joined by her long time friend Kaori Yoneyama and her newest student Mei Suruga. And that Jester (the name for the three women) would have no problem embarrassing Brandi and her stooges on the very first night of AEW.

A four way match would be announced to take place at Double or Nothing. It wasn't a match setup with any particular rivalries or history in place between any of the wrestlers. Rather this was a show case of things to come and Cody Rhodes would almost offer it as a promise that AEW would become a competitive home for women's wrestling and that he was hopeful that this match would showcase the dream of the company to create their own version of a puroresu style. The confirmed participants would be Ryo Mizunami, Kylie Rae, Hikaru Shida and Xia Brookside.

Members of Stardom's Tokyo Cyber Squad would become very public in a desire to expand the unit onto the global scale and the leader of the unit Hana Kimura would announce that she and two soldiers of her choice Zoe Lucas and Bobbi Tyler would be departing for the States to become part of AEW's project and she thought this as the best thing for business and that Jungle Kyona would run the ship in Japan. Hana would want to start things running hard and fast and demand that Tony Khan, Cody Rhodes or whoever else was making decisions to put her invading forcing against the very best that AEW had to offer and make a point that herself, Zoe Lucas and Bobbi Tyler were head and shoulders above the rest.

MV5BMmVjNmM2NTMtNWVhYi00Y2VhLWIzZmEtNDhjY2YxYmNmNWM2XkEyXkFqcGc@._V1_QL75_UY281_CR17,0,500,281_.jpg

The first two names that would be pulled out of indie scene that were hand picked by Cody Rhodes would be Britt Baker and Melissa Anderson, and Rhodes would say that these were two women who had been overlooked far too many times and that both Britt and Melissa were strong and capable women and capable of becoming future pillars of the company and from his point of view could be future AEW Women's World Champion.

Fight-For-the-Fallen-Britt-Baker-2.jpg
59725ab892d3e.image.jpg

With only two names being revealed, Hana Kimura would very much turn the unit and they would go from babyfaces in Japan, to heels in the United States as she would openly mock AEW as being unable to find a third woman worthy of face the Tokyo Cyber Squad. Cody though would retort and that in fact, he had used the power and prestige of Kimuar's unit to convince someone to jump ships and cross the line and become the newest member of All Elite Wrestling and at the final press conference prior to Double or Nothing it would be revealed that the wrestler formerly known as Dakota Kai, returning to her previous name of Evie had become All Elite. This is would be the first that the phrase of someone having become All Elite was said out loud.

dakota-kai-2019-12-04.jpg

Evie would send a direct message to Hana Kimura that Double or Nothing was just the beginning and that the main reason she had come to AEW was the face of the company and that meant that taking the scalps of everyone that looked in the mirror and thought she was hot shit, were the type of women she had to take out to become the best in the business. Kimura was the first name on the list, but she promised that it wouldn't be the last because whichever bitch won the Casino Battle Royale. They would also go to the top of her hit list.
