Wow! I'm surprised that more people don't know that. They guy has spent most of his career following his Daddy around promotions after all. I guess if you're under 20 not only is it not going to matter but you're unlikely to have a reason to know.
Other things you might not know are the...
This one suffered from being built up far too much so what would have been a reasonable (if not great) Wrestlemania became a disappointing one. It was also damaged by everyone clamouring to be a part of it so there were far too many short, talent heavy matches like the tag team fatal four ways...
Wow! Not a popular guy. I'm old enough to have been wowed by him back when he was the 123 Kid and I have to give credit where it's due, he has been a hell of a performer in his time and sporadically delivers to this day. Sadly though for the most part he's just a greasy, unreliable scumbag who...
It didn't look believable at WM22 to my eyes. He's done it better since I agree but it's no crossface.
Glad you agree about the scorpion deathlock, I thought I was the only one who could see it.
The STFU and the Deathlock both suffer from not convincingly applying (or even appearing to imply) pressure. Bret Hart's Sharpshooter was delivered like it would break your back. Austin looked like a superhero despite losing consciousness to the move at WM13 because of how convincing Bret made...
HHH vs. Cena was only memorable because Cena made a tool out of himself for dressing up as a gangster but looking like a flasher and Hunter made a tool out of himself for dressing up as Conan and submitting to the STFU, the weakest looking finisher since the Scorpion Deathlock.
I agree that...
Why should people give Russo a chance? He has a massively poor record for creating bad wrestling TV and he's just cementing that record by lowering quality of TNA programming. Should TNA keep giving him chances because he may have had an influence in the WWF 10 years ago and happens to be...
I don't think Jeff is the most hated person in TNA. He's the reason TNA exists. People find him boring as a performer but I think they appreciate that he has an important role to play. TNA was definitely better with him on the booking team rather than Russo, even if it did include him on top...
I must say I'm more in agreement with This Guy than the rest of you. I know it was a Wrestlemania so people tend to get a bit excited but seriously guys, are your memories failing you? Do you not remember the appalling Boogeyman vs. Booker T squash, the lame Playboy pillow fight, the dull...
Savage was always a hell of a talent who weathered far better than most of his contemporaries. Even toward the end of his active career he could deliver a great match and had ****+ classics throughout his years in the ring. His feuds still stick in my mind, especially his program with Jake...
The icon that helped take the business to the mainstream (he's still the image most non-wrestling fans think of when you mention the 'sport'), stayed on top for the best part of 20 years and partly shaped the way wrestling is today. Charismatic as hell and made you believe that a body slam, a...
The classic feud ending match that has now been weakened by overuse (the extreme being TNA Lockdown) and superceded by more imposing variations (Hell in a Cell). For the most part it's still effective if sold well. 8/10.
The World Champ who should have been. I'm sure his behaviour and addictions were part of the reason why he never got a run with the big belt but he certainly had the presence to pull it off if not the level of reliability needed to carry a company.
He can be credited with some great matches...
Couldn't agree more. People get mad about dead guys being put over as Legends but I can't think of a better example of this abuse of history than Andre. To his credit he was an awe inspiring sight and was certainly a draw in his time but that was pretty much it. He was slow and boring to watch...
I'd forgotten all about Raven. Another guy who could light up the announce table and shouldn't be in the ring. Get him on commentary or show him the door.
That's exactly what I'm saying. The issue isn't necessarily with age or fitness (though personally I think RVD blows up far too fast these days) and is more a matter of consistency. RVD just cannot offer up quality bouts on a regular basis and is a notoriously sloppy worker. He certainly can't...
RVD is too far past his best to go alongside the younger X-Division guys. He would have to mix it in the NWA picture. IF he ever goes to TNA that is, which, all rumour and speculation aside, the company just might not be able to afford right now.
