The temperature outside is scorching, and the action inside the WWF is equally as hot as
EVERYTHING HAS REACHED A BOILING POINT! Shocking, pulse-pounding action! Twists and turns! Betrayal and friendship! A snake! A king! And yes, even a model! We are officially on The Road To Summerslam, and if Saturday Night’s Main Event was any indication of the current state of Titan, then Summerslam will be nothing short of chaotic!
We last saw you all on July 20, 1991- a night which will live on forever inside the WWF, for all of the wrong reasons! Since then, the WWF thermostat has only been cranked up! The Summerslam card is complete, with not one, but
TWO MAIN EVENTS!
This DOUBLE-MAIN EVENT SHOW will feature WWF World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan put his title on the line against 1991 King of the Ring winner Mr. Perfect, while Jake Roberts and Macho Man duke it out in the other main event!
Read below for the full story! Now is the time to buckle up, and enjoy the tumultuous ride as we begin our maiden voyage on The Road to Summerslam!
“THE PERFECT SUMMER”
MR. PERFECT etched his name not only into this history books by becoming the 1991 King of the Ring winner, but he also stamped his way to a
WWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP against HULK HOGAN at SUMMERSLAM!!
The man challenging Hulk Hogan at Summerslam may be something of a prophet if he can pull off the biggest victory in his career, as he has been stating since January that 1991 will be
“THE PERFECT YEAR!” On top of 1991 being Mr. Perfect’s year, he has officially kicked off
“THE PERFECT SUMMER” as he gears up for the big match.
Throughout all of late-July and August, we have been treated to vignettes as Mr. Perfect has gone to
“TRAINING CAMP” to get ready for the big match. He brought along Bobby Heenan and Haku with him for emotional and physical support.
STEP 1: TRAIN
On the first vignette, we are shown an old, abandoned log cabin in the middle of the woods. The camera pans inside to see Mr. Perfect, Bobby Heenan (decked out in an all-white sweatsuit) and Haku all pumping iron inside a makeshift gym. Bobby Heenan has taken the blueprint from Hulk Hogan, as he stands in front of the camera…
“Hulk Hogan says the keys to success are to train, take your vitamins, and say your prayers. Well, we’ve formulated “THE PERFECT WORKOUT” to go along with “THE PERFECT REGIMEN” and we finish things off with “THE PERFECT PRAYER.” Mr. Perfect has taken things to another level, and at Summerslam, Hulk Hogan- you finally get a taste of your own medicine!”
While Mr. Perfect begins training on the bench press, Bobby Heenan smacks his clipboard, blowing a whistle, just like a great coach does- giving Mr. Perfect words of encouragement with each rep-
“Come on, that’s it. One more. Another one. Hulk Hogan is lifting more weight right now! I know he is! Hulk Hogan wants it more! Come on! Show everybody why you’re simply perfect!”
Mr. Perfect reps out 405 on the bench press, racks the weight, sits up from his bench, and has a word for the camera...
“Heavy is the head…that wears the PERFECT crown!”
From there, the trio sits down on a couch, watching tape on Hulk Hogan. The three take down notes, and practice moves in the vast living room. We then see Bobby Heenan marking up a chalkboard as Mr. Perfect sits and takes more notes. Perfect looks up for the camera, as if a light bulb has just gone off…Mr. Perfect seems to have cracked the code on Hulk Hogan!
STEP 2: TAKE YOUR VITAMINS
On the next vignette, the trio are back in the gym, and can see Mr. Perfect has a small table set up with bottles upon bottles of vitamins. Bobby Heenan curates the bottles of vitamins and precisely sets aside a regimen for Mr. Perfect.
Mr. Perfect throws a bunch of vitamins down the hatch, chasing it with a protein shake. We then see Mr. Perfect doing pull-ups. On each pull-up, Haku is there to throw a punch in the gut of Mr. Perfect! Perfect screams in pain as he reps them out. Bobby Heenan stands near by with a towel and squirt bottle, giving words of encouragement with each rep Mr. Perfect bangs out…
“Hulk Hogan! Perfectplex! Summerslam! You’re perfect for a reason! Hulk Hogan! Seize the moment! Shock the world! Hey, take it easy, Haku, he doesn’t need a cracked rib!”
Mr. Perfect hops down back to his feet and looks into the camera…
“Hulk Hogan, keep that title nice and warm. The Perfect Summer reaches its climax at Summerslam!”
STEP 3: SAY YOUR PRAYERS
On the final vignette, Mr. Perfect wears his crown and sits in a big chair, while Haku gives him pointers on how to be a king. Mr. Perfect doesn’t understand exactly what Haku wants him to do, but he goes along with it.
Mr. Perfect is then seen sprinting down a long driveway, while the new hit single
“RIGHT NOW” by Van Halen blasts in the background. Bobby Heenan and Haku pull up in a white Cadillac as Mr. Perfect sprints next to the car...
“I KNOW Hulk Hogan is faster! C'mon, king, is that all you got?”
Heenan speeds up, and Mr. Perfect uses his extraordinary speed to catch up to the car. This is his
“Rocky climbing the steps” moment of the vignette! Once he reaches the car, he jumps up and down with his hands high, while Heenan and Haku get out of the car and pat Perfect on the back, almost as if they are practicing their celebration for Summerslam…
Back inside, it’s dinner time! Bobby Heenan and Haku prepare a 5-star meal for Mr. Perfect. Before they dig in to eat, Mr. Perfect, Heenan and Haku all grab hands, bow their heads, as Mr. Perfect starts dinner out with a prayer. Following the prayer, Perfect looks right into the camera as he smirks…“The perfect prayer!”
The last scene of the vignette series shows a calendar flipping to the date
“AUGUST 25, 1991.” Mr. Perfect is packing up his suitcase, as his
“TRAINING CAMP” is now complete. He is one day away from Summerslam, and with a full month of training in a log cabin in the woods with Bobby Heenan and Haku by his side, he is as confident as ever…
“There’s only one thing left to do now, King. Let’s go get that Championship gold!” Bobby Heenan shouts as the trio head out of the log cabin and into a limousine…
While Mr. Perfect was channeling his inner Rocky, WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan was busy making nonstop appearances all over the country. He stopped on morning talk shows like
Regis & Kathy Lee, before joining
David Letterman on the Late Night Show! The WWF Champion even threw out the first pitch at a
New York Yankees game!
As the dog days of summer churned, Hulk Hogan continued making even more appearances such as hosting a special edition of
MTV’s “Headbanger’s Ball” and even joining Arsenio Hall to hype up Summerslam
(much different interview in this world on Arsenio Hall).
All in all, Hulk Hogan has done a lot of promotion over the summer, but not a lot of wrestling, which could possibly cause more wear and tear than actually fighting inside the squared circle. Regardless, Hulk Hogan always shows up to a big fight ready to rock, and we expect Summerslam to be no different…
Will Mr. Perfect fulfill his
“PERFECT SUMMER” prophecy at Summerslam and do the unthinkable- de-throning Hulk Hogan and becoming WWF World Heavyweight Champion? Or will “The Hulkster” show up on his “A” game and show the entire world just why he is the true king of the WWF? You won’t want to miss this matchup at Summerslam!!!
“CROSSING THE RUBICON”
Jake Roberts told the entire world what he was going to do, but nobody truly believed he would go through with it. Well, at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Jake Roberts followed through with what is being called around the world as
“THE MOST HEINOUS ACTS IN THE HISTORY OF THE WWF.”
For his first act, Jake not only kissed Miss Elizabeth on the lips, he then hit her with a DDT that left her unconscious. With Macho Man handcuffed to the middle rope, Jake shifted his attention towards his bitter enemy, and then did the unthinkable- stuck his
SNAKE on Macho Man, biting Savage on the forearm! Jake was subsequently arrested by Boston PD and the scene was nothing short of chaotic as Macho Man foamed at the mouth while medics quickly injected him with anti-venom while he was stretchered to the back!
Immediately following SNME, we got an update on the conditions of both Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth. Elizabeth was deemed OK following the DDT, but has decided to lay low for a while until this mess is finished. Macho Man was treated with anti-venom, and other than big fang marks in his forearm and low-grade fever for a few days, he has made a full recovery.
The king cobra on the other hand, did not make it. It slithered back into its sack following biting Randy Save and simply never woke up!
The fallout from this chaotic scene sent shockwaves through the WWF, as we first had an official ruling from WWF President Jack Tunney- he simply stated that
JAKE ROBERTS WAS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY FROM THE WWF! Nobody could argue with Tunney’s call, even if it jeopardized the huge Summerslam match between Roberts and Macho Man! The man put his hands on a woman and then had his snake bite his arch-nemesis!
For the time being, the highly anticipated Macho Man versus Jake Roberts match at Summerslam WAS OFF!!!
On top of being slapped with harsh penalties from the WWF, Jake Roberts had alienated himself so much throughout 1991 that
NOBODY was there to bail him out of a Boston jail cell, so he was still incarcerated for the time being!!
While the big match for Summerslam was off for the moment, a groundswell of support from fans began pouring in Titan Headquarters. Along with Macho Man leading the charge, he
DEMANDED WWF President Jack Tunney re-instate Jake Roberts for Summerslam so he could finish this thing once and for all! Macho Man went as far as to tell the entire world that he would post Jake Roberts’ bail money if it meant revenge at Summerslam!
Following the outpouring of letters, calls, and the chant
“LET THEM FIGHT!” at the arena, mixed with a crazed Macho Man demanding this happens- WWF President Jack Tunney caved in, and
RE-INSTATED THE MATCH FOR SUMMERSLAM!!
The conditions were simple-
Jake Roberts was to be re-instated FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY AT SUMMERSLAM! Following Summerslam, he will go back to being suspended indefinitely, with the length of the suspension still being worked out by top Titan brass!
On top of Roberts’ re-instatement, the WWF wanted nothing to do with the insurance liability for this match, thus making it
A NON-SANCTIONED MATCH!!! What exactly is a Non-Sanctioned Match? A no DQ, falls count anywhere, essentially no rules, and WWF is not responsible for ANYTHING that happens during the match!!
For the entirety of the Road to Summerslam, we didn’t hear once from Jake Roberts. Nobody knows what type of condition he is in, or how dark his mind has turned since SNME! Macho Man, on the other hand, took to the mic on the edition of Superstars a week before Summerslam…
“Pomp and Circumstance” hits as the rabid WWF crowd rises for their hero-
MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE!!! Savage pops through the curtain, decked out in his early 90’s neon plus cowboy boots and a cowboy hat! Macho Man soaks in the crowd as he points and turns all the way down the aisle way, where inside the ring
MEAN GENE OKERLUND is waiting to conduct an interview…
Savage takes in the roar of the crowd, as he has not been seen in an official capacity since SNME when he was bitten by Jake’s snake!!
“IT’S GREAT TO BE BACK IN FRONT OF THESE FANNNSSSS…MEAN GENEEEE….OHHH YEAHHH!!”
Okerlund tries to corral Macho Man in as he asks about his condition heading into Summerslam…
“Physically, I’m AS READDYYYY as I’ll ever be for Summerslam! MENTALLY…well, that’s another story!”
Okerlund plays into Macho Man’s mental state, while Macho Man takes off his jacket to reveal his heavily taped forearm. He points down at his forearm as he continues…
“JAKE ROBERTS! You gave me your best shot, but IT SEEMS that the snake got a little bit of MACHO VENOM into his system…THE SNAKEEE is no longer slithering around....BUT I’M STILL STANDING!!!”
Macho Man’s intensity picks up…
“Jake Roberts! It is FINEEE for you to put your hands on me! It is FINEEE for you to pull those cowardly tricks on ME! BUT WHEN YOU PUT YOUR HANDS ON MY WIFEEEE….”
Macho Man takes off his sunglasses and hat, tossing them to the mat…
“I accept the fact that you and I are enemies, I even EMBRACE it! But when you handcuffed me to the ropes, and told me to watch every single second of what you did to MISS ELIZABETH….you lit a fire in me THAT CAN NEVER BE PUT OUT!!! Do you know what you did, Jake Roberts? YOU PUT YOUR HANDS ON ANOTHER MAN’S WIFE, JAKE ROBERTSSS!!! And that doesn’t fly WITH THE MACHO MAN, DIG ITT? Look into my eyes!!! They are filled with fury, with rage, WITH INSANITY OHHH YEAHHH!!!”
Macho Man is now fully raged…
“I knew you were gonna cross the line…I SENSED IT! I let it happen and was ANTICIPATING it Jake Roberts, because that’s what REAL MEN do…BUT WHEN YOU PUT YOUR HANDS ON MY WIFEEE….you didn’t cross the line, ma man…you CROSSED the RUBICON!!!”
The crowd eats up every word from Savage…
“AND THERE’S NO COMING BACK FROM CROSSING THE RUBICON! At Summerslam…the biggest party of the summer OHH YEAH…Jake Roberts, you won’t be partying much AT ALL….BECAUSE THE MACHO MAN IS FILLED WITH ANGER!!!! FOR EIGHT LONG MONTHS…yeah….Jake Roberts, you’ve been scratching and clawing to get to me….At Summerslam….IT’S THE MACHO MAN’S TURN TO CROSS THE RUBICON…AND ONCE I CROSS IT…I AIN’T COMINGGGG BACKKK!!!! OHHHH YEAHHHHH!!!”
And with that, Macho Man poses for the crowd, while McMahon and Monsoon hype up Macho Man versus Jake Roberts at Summerslam!!!

“THE REAL WORLD’S CHAMPION”
In one of the bigger stories of the summer,
"THE NATURE BOY" RIC FLAIR officially signed with the WWF! This historic announcement wasn't broken the tradition way. Instead, we have begun to see vignettes of Ric Flair across all WWF television!!! Not only is Ric Flair in the WWF, he has brought with him some
CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD from another company!! With each passing vignette, we simply saw Ric Flair in his black and white butterfly robe, HIS world title front and center. The vignette ended with Flair saying the same line:
“The Real World’s Champion is here in the WWF! WOOOO!”
While these vignettes aired throughout the summer, Roddy Piper, usually at commentary with Vince McMahon, begun to grow tired of seeing Ric Flair continually say he was the “Real World’s Champion” and wanted to do something about it.
In early August, after another vignette of Ric Flair aired, Roddy Piper had seen enough! While airing his frustrations with Vince McMahon at the commentary desk, Piper decided to take matters into his own hands, coming up with a solution…
RODDY PIPER WILL HOST RIC FLAIR ON A SPECIAL EDITION OF PIPER’S PIT AT SUMMERSLAM!!!

“GRAVE JUSTICE”
The feud between
THE UNDERTAKER and THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR started off as just two titans looking to rip each other from limb to limb. Simple, effective, and must-see television. The Undertaker would try to stuff Ultimate Warrior in a body bag at every chance he got, only for Warrior to be quicker to the zipper and fight his way out!!
The complications towards this story started when
TED DIBIASE and his MILLION DOLLAR EMPIRE began poking their noses in the business of Undertaker and Warrior, with Dibiase claiming that he deemed both men big threats to his Empire, and did what any business man would do-
HE TRIED TO BUY THEM BOTH!!
Each and every time Dibiase tried to get involved in this feud, he has been met with swift fury from both Undertaker and Warrior! The two made it clear that their beef was with each other, and weren’t looking to be bought by Dibiase. Although the offers were declined, Dibiase continued pushing the envelope and things came to a head at King of the Ring!!
At King of the Ring, while Undertaker and Warrior clashed in a Quarterfinals matchup, Dibiase and The Empire got involved in the match, which ultimately ended in a
DOUBLE COUNTOUT!!
Following King of the Ring, it was announced that The Undertaker would square off against Ultimate Warrior at Summerslam!! With Dibiase and The Empire lurking, waiting to buy one of these two titans, WWF President Jack Tunney needed to do something to keep this match on track- he signed
SID JUSTICE to be the SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE!!
Sid Justice is one of the most imposing figures ever seen inside the WWF! He stands nearly 7 feet tall and looks like he was carved out of stone! Sid Justice officiating this match brough a sense of stability for the WWF, as if anyone can keep these two under control, as well as fend off Ted Dibiase and The Million Dollar Empire, it is Sid Justice!!
For The Undertaker and Ultimate Warrior, things came to a head on an episode of
THE FUNERAL PARLOR where Warrior was the special guest of the evening. Let’s just say things went off the rails in a hurry…
We head onto the creepy, eerie set as
PAUL BEARER welcomes us to
THE FUNERAL PARLOR!! He stands in front of a casket with The Ultimate Warrior’s logo pasted all around the outside. There are two wooden caskets propped up on each side of the set, with a bunch of floral arrangements engulfing the rest of the open space.
We have no visual of The Undertaker as of right now, something Vince McMahon and Roddy Piper bring up on commentary. Bearer does his creepy face as he stares into the camera while holding up his mysterious urn…
“OHH YESSS! Welcome to the Funeral Parlor…don’t mind the strange noises and tingling sensation, that’s completely normal! I’d like to introduce my VERY special guest at this time…THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR!”
THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR heads on out to The Funeral Parlor, and immediately gets into Paul Bearer’s face!
HE WANTS THE UNDERTAKER…and HE WANTS HIM NOW!!
“WHERE IS HE?!?!?!?”
Ultimate Warrior shouts as he grabs Bearer by his collar!!
Warrior heads towards the main silver casket, draped with Ultimate Warrior logos all around it! He opens it up, expecting The Undertaker to pop out…
BUT INSTEAD…
FINDS A DUFFLE BAG STUFFED TO THE BRIM WITH $100 BILLS!!!
“Well, we know who put that bag in there, McMahon! Dibiase WANTS one of these two titans, and he knows how to sweeten up an offer!” Piper says on commentary…
Ultimate Warrior looks around at the crowd before looking down at the duffle bag inside the casket. He is torn! There is a hefty sum of cash staring at Warrior…
“The Ultimate Warrior is wrestling with himself right now! There is over 100,000 DOLLARS in that bag! What is he going to do?” McMahon shouts from the commentary desk…
Warrior puts his hand inside the casket as the crowd shrieks! They don’t want to see Ultimate Warrior join The Empire! Warrior takes his hand out and shakes his head! The crowd cheers for his decision…
Warrior then looks back at Paul Bearer, as if he’s suddenly realized why he’s here again, and grabs Bearer by the collar, demanding The Undertaker show his face!!
Warrior looks down at his hands as he snarls before reaching back inside the casket to grab the duffle bag…
Is Ultimate Warrior going to take the money and join The Empire?
SUDDENLY…
THE UNDERTAKER POPS OUT OF ONE OF THE SIDE CASKETS!!!
The crowd
ERUPTS at the sight of The Undertaker, as there is no denying how popular the budding star has gotten inside the WWF in short order! He heads over towards the casket where Ultimate Warrior has his hand on the duffle bag…
THE UNDERTAKER SLAMS THE CASKET LID SHUT ON ULTIMATE WARRIOR’S HAND!!!!
Undertaker begins unloading on Ultimate Warrior, until Warrior uses his other-worldly strength and
OPENS THE LID!!!
Warrior tackles Undertaker to the ground! He puts him in a full mount and begins drilling the Deadman with rights and lefts!!! Undertaker is able to get out from underneath and gets to his feet! He lifts Warrior up by the throat…
AND SLAMS HIM INTO THE SIDE OF THE CASKET!!!
Warrior falls to the ground, dazed from the impact of the back of his head hitting the casket! The duffle bag drops to the ground, right at the feet of The Undertaker! He looks down at the duffle bag and kicks it aside, signaling that he still rejects Ted Dibiase’s offer!!!
“Neither man will give in to Ted Dibiase! It seems as if for right now, at least, The Undertaker nor Ultimate Warrior can be bought!”
Roddy Piper shouts as the scene fades out…
From there, Dibiase made it clear that he was upping the duffle bag offer, and went out to confidently
GUARANTEE that one of these men was going to leave Summerslam as the newest member of The Million Dollar Empire! The question now is quite simple- which WWF Titan will be joining The Empire at Summerslam?
Will The Undertaker ultimately end up joining The Million Dollar Empire- aligning with the man that brought him into the WWF? Or will Ultimate Warrior be the one to sell out? After all, it was Warrior’s hand that got stuck in the casket reaching for the duffle bag. We know Warrior is a gym freak and that money could go a long way towards opening a gym of his own! Was he going to take the money? Or was he going to throw it away?
Add in the element of
SID JUSTICE as the Special Guest Referee, and we have just created the perfect recipe for disaster!
For now, neither man will give in to Ted Dibiase’s duffle bag advances, but that won’t stop the devious Dibiase from trying to lure one of these titans into The Empire! Things will all come to a head at Summerslam, you really don’t want to miss this one!!
“TAKING THE TITLE…INTERCONTINENTAL”
“THE MODEL” RICK MARTEL has put together arguably one of the best performances in 1991 thus far, capturing the Intercontinental Championship and becoming a household name. “The Model” begun his ascension at the King of the Ring, when he snuck up on then-IC Champion Bret Hart and
STRUCK HIM IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH HIS BOTTLE OF ARROGANCE!! The attack left Bret Hart with staples in the back of his head, and post-concussion syndrome!!
Martel then followed that up by shocking the world and beating a badly hurt Bret Hart at SNME to capture the Intercontinental Championship! While most will say Martel took the easy way out to get the title by attacking Bret Hart and then beating him while he wasn’t close to 100 percent, others will say that Rick Martel did what he needed to do to climb up the food chain!
Following Martel’s win, he kept his promise of taking the Intercontinental Championship…inter-continental! Throughout the rest of the summer, each week on Superstars and Wrestling Challenge we were shown post-cards of Rick Martel touring Europe, Asia, and Africa- posing with his Intercontinental Championship!
We saw postcards such as
“GREETINGS FROM PARIS” with Martel standing in front of the Eiffel Tower, IC title in hand! The next one said
“GOLD ON THE RUNWAY” and showed a picture of Martel in a Calvin Klein Fashion Show in Milan, Italy! The next postcard was titled
“I BLESS THE RAINS DOWN IN AFRICA” and showed Martel holding the IC title while on the back of an elephant! He even took to the Far East, with a postcard
“TOKYO GREETINGS” showing Martel in front of a Bonsai tree in Japan!
While Rick Martel was busy taking the IC title inter-continental, his challenger for Summerslam was back stateside getting ready!
THE BRITISH BULLDOG stepped up for his brother-in-law,
BRET HART! Bret Hart was ruled out for the rest of the summer following SNME as he recovers from the attack by the hands of Rick Martel! British Bulldog, known as a family man, decided to avenge his brother-in-law and took matters into his own hands, issuing a challenge to Rick Martel for Summerslam!
It should also be noted that Bret Hart
WILL in fact be at Summerslam, supporting British Bulldog while being in his corner! Rick Martel stated that he didn’t care which Hart family member was in Bulldog’s corner, because he doesn’t plan on losing the IC title anytime soon!!
It will be a scorching contest when Rick Martel puts his IC title on the line against British Bulldog at Summerslam!!! Will Martel continue his Intercontinental Title Tour throughout the world? Or will the buck stop in Manchester, England, as The British Bulldog looks to avenge Bret Hart and take home the Intercontinental title? Tune in to Summerslam to find out!!
“RISING TENSIONS”
WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE LEGION OF DOOM has run roughshod over the WWF tag team picture since debuting last summer! Their rapid ascent led them to Tag Team gold at Wrestlemania 7. Since then, they have been on a complete tear, defeating all of their opponents over the past three months in under four minutes!
LOD faces their toughest task to date at Summerslam when they tangle with another fan-favorite team,
THE ROCKERS! The Rockers outlasted nine other tag teams at SNME to find their spot on the Summerslam card! However, it hasn’t been all roses for Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty over the summer. Instead, they have found themselves close to a crossroads as a tag team.
While the duo of Michaels and Jannetty are arguably one of the top teams in the WWF, since SNME when Marty accidentally hit Michaels with a Superkick, the duo just can’t seem to click and fire on the same page.
Could this be due to the hectic schedule of teaming up every single night in a different city? Has the team ran its course?
Couple that with the newly minted tag team in the
WWF- THE BEVERLY BROTHERS- driving a wedge through Michaels and Jannetty all summer, and there is definitely rising tensions. Beau and Blake, still mad over their SNME Battle Royal loss to The Rockers, decided to divide and conquer the pair as they have interfered in most of their matches throughout the summer!
Things came to a head on a mid-August episode of Superstars, where The Rockers were taking on The Orient Express in a tough bout. While Shawn and Marty ultimately won the match, they once again suffered a bout of miscommunication when Shawn accidentally knocked Marty off the apron.
This was due to The Beverly Brothers being at ringside, distracting Marty. Shawn Michaels was able to hit a flying cross body on Kato to win the match, but post-match the duo begun to argue, all while Beau and Blake looked on, enjoying every minute of it!
SUDDENLY…
THE LEGION OF DOOM RUSHED THE RING!!
LOD laid waste to the Beverly Brothers, hitting both Beau and Blake with double clotheslines, sending the duo to the outside floor! While Beau and Blake escaped, the same could not be said for
THE GENIUS! While pleading with both LOD and The Rockers, his time was up! Shawn and Marty delivered a DOUBLE SUPERKICK which knocked The Genius right out of his hat!!
From there, Hawk threw The Genius' hat into the crowd before heading to the top rope, where The Genius was met with a nasty-looking
DOOMSDAY DEVICE!!!
Both LOD and The Rockers soaked in the cheers from the crowd, before bumping backs! The two teams then had a standoff, with Shawn and Marty united for the first time all night! The crowd got even hotter for the standoff, as Hawk and Animal nodded their heads and told Shawn and Marty to bring it at Summerslam!!
The match is set, the tag team division is heating up, and Summerslam will be nothing short of spectacular! Will The Legion of Doom continue their run of dominance and take down The Rockers? Or will The Rockers unite and work as a cohesive unit and finally grab the evasive Tag Titles?
What about The Beverly Brothers? Will they get involved and attempt to turn Shawn and Marty against each other, still having sour grapes about their SNME loss? All of these questions will be answered at Summerslam!!

THE BERZERKER, managed by
MR. FUJI, is a crazed Viking who has a penchant for yelling
“HUSS!” and usually wins matches by incapacitating his opponents so bad, he tosses them outside the ring where they are unable to make the ten count! The Berzerker will square off at Summerslam against Titan stalwart
