So, I've been experimenting on and off over the years with a new formula to grade a Quarterback's efficiency. So without further ado, allow me to give you my tentative formula to my "Quarterback Efficiency Rating":
(((Completions ÷ Attempts) + Passing Yards) × Touchdowns) ÷ (Interceptions + Sacks)³ = QER
To give an idea of the range we're talking here, a score between "8 and 13" is considered average efficiency. A score below an 8 is inefficiency outweighing performance. A score above a 13 shows an efficient performance, with scores above 20 showcasing elite efficiency.
Some examples:
2025 QB Average QER: 10.59
2025 Sam Darnold: 25.08
2025 JJ McCarthy: 3.08
2025 Shedeur Sanders: 2.19
