In a book Irresistible Force: The Life and Times of Gorilla Monsoon, Brian R. Solomon wrote Monsoon was against selling the WWF to Vince McMahon Jr. Monsoon was initially supposed to be the heir to own the WWF, not Vince. Monsoon owned 25% of the Capitol Wrestling Corporation. The 1982 meeting at the Warwick hotel was not the "peaceful transition of power we've been led to believe."

You know, I recall hearing some things about that. But Vince Jr did agree to give Monsoon lifetime employment.

I have my problems with McMahon, but there is no doubt having him instead of Monsoon owning it was better for the sport all around. Monsoon was a fun wrestler and I really loved him as a commentator. He probably would have even been a decent promoter, since he was already involved in the promotion aspect of the business. But he wouldn't have been able to do what Vince did. He would have stayed in his territory and would have tried not to change much at all.

oh ya vince mcmahon was known for giving the life time employment to some of his employees like he did with howard finkle gerold brisco and pat paterson
