This is actually fucking amazing. Two POWs re-meet one another for the first time since 1945.

This was recorded around 2020-21 but holy shit this is depressing. It's a two-parter on how working class/middle class citizens went along with the Nazis and even actively and knowingly participated in the heinous shit they did despite knowing it was bad.

It parallels shockingly well with how 2025-26 has gone. It's a must-listen to if anyone hasn't. I mean it. You may feel something.

@Chris @Hoss general question but do you consider the period between the fall of Western Rome and the crowning of Charlemagne as the end of the "Late Antiquity Period" or the beginning of the "Medieval Period". I'm kinda leaning towards both of them but I dunno, do you consider it Antiquity or Medieval history?

I think the fall of the western empire is the perfect excuse to change terms to medieval, especially in western and central Europe

I think the labels are all pretty arbitrary anyway. They're relevant if you're writing books or making game mods and shit but not for practical discussion purposes lol

Under the St Peter and Paul Church in Maastricht, Netherlands, the remains of legendary French musketeer d'Artagnan are believed to be found.

More than 350 years after the death of legendary French musketeer d'Artagnan, his remains may well have been found under the floor of a Dutch church.

Jos Valke, who is deacon at St Peter and Paul Church in Maastricht, helped unearth the skeleton and is 99% certain that the remains belong to Charles de Batz de Castelmore, a close aide to France's Sun King Louis XIV who was known as Count d'Artagnan.

@Chris Hear me out.

What if we got a drama series that is primarily about the history of England (In the style of Game of Thrones and HBO's Rome) that set throughout several seasons between Athelstan becoming King of England in 927 until the Norman Conquest in 1066 and its immediate aftermath. But, it doesn't just focus on England, but also Normandy (from Rollo to William), and the machinations of the Danes as well.

Would you be interested in that?

I actually just recently listened to a road to 1066 series from the rest is history covering that and Dan Carlin has a great series about the fusion of Viking/Christian culture that also has a lot.

It's basically all I've wanted since I learned about it. I want Game of Thrones season 1-3 for like 10 different historical periods but that's a big one along with the succession crisis after Alexander dies
