Yeah I haven't delved into them much but the Arian and Nestorian stuff has just been mentioned so much as an aside during other history stuff I've gotten into
Extra History actually has an excellent little series on it from years ago

I've watched most of the last 5 years, YouTube has started recommending older now so I'm sure I'll get to it as I've gotten fairly caught up on my other channels

Speaking of Extra History, it's crazy to think I've been watching them since Extra History was actually just a side-project on their channel that they didn't even know they'd be doing well over a decade later.

Yeah I just discovered them a few months ago lmao there's a chance I randomly watched like 10 years ago and forgot but probs not.

I did also recently watch all of oversimplified, I had probably seen the first half of their videos but not the more recent ones, they've gotten even better. Shame everything I like takes years for new content

God this guy really was one of the dumbest wealthy people to ever live.

He saw the ocean and wondered to himself, "How come Corporations haven't bought these parts!"

So after the official fall of Constantinople in May of 1453, who in your opinion becomes the "successor" to the Roman Empire?

- Ottomans/Turkey (right of conquest)
- Spain (right of legal succession)
- Holy Roman Empire/Austria (right of name)
- Russia (right of religion)

None really, I think that's when Rome truly died but if anyone I think I would have to say holy Roman empire sadly for the reason of name. I was watching House of the Dragon recently and this guy was confronted with the fact that he was so power hungry for family glory yet his heir is clearly a bastard and everyone knows it, not of his blood. He says "history doesn't remember blood, only names" and that's the truest shit I've ever heard

@Chris @Poyser speaking on History I do highly recommend Robert Evans's podcast Behind the Bastards. I've linked a few episodes here and there but he's got something of a more entertainment twist on these stories while also utilizing first-hand/second-hand sources from contemporaries and biographers. He's actually got a four-parter on Vince McMahon who, in Robert's own words, was the weirdest fucking guy they've ever talked about and probably the most insane person they've covered.

Yeah Dan Carlin is one of those 1 episode a year guy but they're like 5 hours lol his free feed has the ones from the last few years but the earlier ones really build up to him becoming just a long form multi part storyteller by accident bc that wasn't the plan lol his first episode was 15 minutes long talking about Alexander the great and Hitler
