This why I say plainly and openly it’s my subjective opinion.

I’m not declaring it’s not art. I just don’t personally think it is. I can tomorrow do exactly what happened in that clip by falling off of the balcony through a plate of glass into a net. I however can’t take numerous bumps and tell a story in the ring.
I'm not saying there's any issue with you not liking it, I'm just saying that it is art and getting into the mindset of "who enjoys this?" is futile, as if you're supposed to be able to understand what a world full of an incomprehensible number of people might enjoy. Not saying that to be on your case, just moreso conveying a philosophical point of view I have, I guess. To your point about art being a scam, yeah, I view a lot of art, especially modern art as scammy but the word art itself is not really to be defined. Someone selling air for $5 million is just on some money laundering shit, that isn't even something worth debating whether it is or isn’t art.

For me, it’s not so much about whether or not I enjoy it or not because there’s lots of styles of wrestling I don’t enjoy. My problem with Deathmatch wrestling, is I think it takes unnecessary risks to the performers and kind of disengages the entire point of pretending to hurt your opponent to tell a story and you are now actually hurting your opponent. Like I said I’m probably a little bit of a hypocrite cause I like some hardcore wrestling, but I do think that once you’re talking about Weedwhackers and syringes and glass, you’re taking the risk to award to a dangerous level that I don’t think any entertainment being derived from that is really worth it but again I’m not telling people they can’t enjoy it. I’m just saying I don’t understand it.

Fair enough. I like brutality, I'm not gonna lie, but I'm also not the biggest deathmatch fan because most of them suck just from an action perspective. You really can't view it through the same lens as "regular" pro wrestling. It is essentially a whole different form of entertainment, with different goals and a different appeal, but it's performance art nonetheless.

I think the art of deathmatch wrestling that I enjoy is when the goal isn't to not feel pain, that's preposterous, but it's when masochist voluntarily see how much pain they can take in a way that doesn't produce long term injuries or like bleeding out lol a fine line there tho

Yeah I'm sorta on the same page. There's a kind of deathmatch where they're doing brutal shit but they're clearly hesitant to do or take the brutal shit, and they're kinda half-assing it, which doesn't make sense because it's gonna be brutal either way... those matches are horrible to watch. The ones where they just do shit that they can confidently handle and maybe a spot or two that are extra sketchy are more enjoyable. They gotta just go for it, basically.

Unless I've just completely made up a different take than what you were getting at, then nevermind.

Also the really contrived spots can be annoying. My biggest let peeve is probs the really contrived ones that are actually super dangerous and despite that don't even look cool. It's a risk vs reward thing

I think I'll let the promoters and wrestlers decide what spots they want to do, and let the fans decide where they draw the line for their personal enjoyment and conduct their business accordingly
