Never said there wasn’t political violence on both sides. Of course there is. I even agreed with Chris that it was the worst it’s ever been with that and that includes everyone. MAGA, Progressives, Republican and Democrat. What I was saying was when the Minnesota lawmakers were assassinated, I don’t recall seeing a large swath of conservatives, actively cheering or celebrating it like they deserved it. And any that did I denounce. Because that was also awful.
I think both sides of the aisle need to own the rhetoric that we’re using and need to come to the middle of the aisle to do something about becoming one people again.
I do think the left uses a little harsher language when referring to the right as evil or all fascist or a threat to democracy and this type of stuff, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t also see that from the right and MAGA more specifically also uses similar rhetoric sometimes especially right now with the death of Charlie Kirk is fueling a lot of Crazy politically charged “this means war” nonsense and stuff like that. Like I saw James Woods basically told all Democrats to repent now or that would be war and I don’t even know what that means because what the hell.
I’ve been very proud of seeing most prominent left-wing politicians and figures condemning what happened to Charlie Kirk, including Gavin Newsom. Even Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks. Which presently surprised me because usually he’s pretty strong on his language of his own, but he had some very nice things about Charlie.
I agree that this constantly blaming each other shit needs to stop because we just need to be able to come back to the point of excepting that we’re gonna have disagreements about politics, but that doesn’t make anybody evil or they want to destroy America or any of this stuff because usually that’s the kind of language that leads to the political violence and everyone need to stop doing that. I’ll own it on my side that I think we need to remove MAGA completely from our ranks because I think MAGA is a stain because of Nancy Mace can’t even denounce the death of the Minnesota lawmakers then she’s not fit to be in our party, let alone representing America.
