Corrections Officer admits Arizona needs prison labor

Arizona Department of Corrections Director David Shinn made frank remarks about its new private prison contract. He said the prisoners provided services that could not be performed "at a rate that most jurisdictions could ever afford." He goes on state if politicians removed "these folks from that equation. Things would collapse in many of their counties, for their constituents."

Hundreds of local businesses have contracted with the prison system to have inmates perform labor while they're getting paid only a few cents an hour for their work.
