So I was just sitting here eating some dollar store ramen...(Ugh) and
a thought just popped in my head...and as you all know...I have to get that
thought out of my head & string it up by the neck so everyone around here
can throw old vegetables at it while it slowly suffocates to death.

So the Wrestlemania card is still mostly up in the air at this point & I
don't think we've had a single match "officially" confirmed yet...but
there are a couple of matches that seem "booked & locked" in place...

And its from those matches (and some rumored ones) that an underlying
pattern slapped me in the face a few minutes ago.

So pretty much the day after Wrestlemania 33 that Meltzer guy reported
that the Wrestlemania 34 main event was going to be Lesnar vs. Reigns
for the Universal title.

Now as much as many fans have been hoping (& begging) for that not
to be true...it appears that it is happening...and nothing besides a serious
injury or a suspension will stop it.

Now we know this isn't a match for the fans...this is a match for the company...
a match for those who truly believe that Reigns (Yes I'm using his real name)
is "the Guy" & want him to (AGAIN) have a Championship coronation on the
biggest stage possible (Yeah...because that worked out so well for you guys
a couple of years ago didn't it).

Now on the other side of the spectrum we have A.J Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura...
and I'm sure most fans are totally hyped for this match...and have been waiting for
it the moment both performers signed with the WWE.

I myself was hoping the WWE would book this match for Wrestlemania 34
& I was incredibly happy when Nakamura won the Royal Rumble...but...
but the more I think about it...the more it feels like a placation tactic...like it
is the WWE's way of trying to balance out their product so the fans don't
spend the last 30 minutes of Wrestlemania 34 booing & chanting for performers
that aren't even in the ring (Again...see Wrestlemania 32)

And make no mistake Lesnar vs. Reigns will be going on last...it will be the main
event...because as we all know as much as the WWE will try to tell us (And CM Punk)
that their show has 2 or 3 "main events" we all know the last match is the REAL
main event....and for as long as he's able Reigns will be getting that spot.

Hell not even Lesnar vs. Goldberg for the Universal title was allowed to go on last...
and don't start up with that "It was the Undertaker's last match & he deserved to go
on last!" bullshit because frankly I don't buy into that...and also if Taker vs. Cena
happens this year...then you can take that excuse & violently insert it into your own
rectum.

Anyway...what I'm trying to say is that don't be surprised if for every match you don't
want...you get a match you do.

Lesnar vs. Reigns is balanced by Styles vs. Nakamura...
Bliss vs. Jax is balanced by Charlotte vs. Asuka...(Maybe...again its just rumors at this point)

And so on & so on...

I guess the real reason I'm even writing this up is I just want to ask one question.

Why can't the WWE just book a Wrestlemania where the fans...the people who
without the WWE would have nothing...are hyped & excited for every match
on the card?

Why can't the WWE forget about their own "agendas" & simply give their fans
what they want?

Why does the biggest wrestling show of the year have to be compromise between
those putting on the show...and those watching it?

& I'm Done...

My thought is now hanging by its neck...throw something at it...or don't...

Traps...I will see you around.

Don't shoot me...but I'm down like a clown Charlie Brown for Roman v Brock 2. The last match at 31 was so good even before Seth got involved. We didn't get a winner and these two have a lot of history. This match feels like its gonna be the only match were the two guys hate each other. Nakamura and AJ seem like they wanna hug instead of fight. So if I was in charge, I would make Roman v Brock the main event.

Roman is winning regardless so how can fans be invested in a match we already know the winner of. That's the big problem with that match.

I agree with most of this. I really loved the first match and I loved it before Seth cashed in. It was a match with low expectations that delivered in a way I didn't expect. Hell, it was fun to watch Roman get tossed around like a bitch for the majority of the match. But Roman's reactions and even his comeback were fun.

As far as the main event... I dunno. I guess they will do it because the last two main events were as predictable as hell, so why not have a third one. In fact, we may not have had an unpredictable main event win at Mania since Miz.. unless we count Daniel Bryan. However, being the fact that even I have wanted to see this rematch for 3 years now, I would make it the main event too.

Can't wait for Carmella to cash in on the Brock/Roman match.
Its funny you mention that Reag...because after the WWE took the briefcase
off Corbin...they have no "Get out of Jail free card" this time around so Lesnar
vs. Reigns will have a "standard" finish this time around...no matter how the
crowd is reacting.

Roman is winning regardless so how can fans be invested in a match we already know the winner of. That's the big problem with that match.
Exactly...much like the ENTIRE Reigns push...it feels forced & unnatural and
most fans have to simply sit there & watch it happen because Vince knows better.

I've watched the Wrestlemania 31 match a couple of times and IMO...it was pretty
underwhelming...but then I have no time for either Lesnar or Reigns...and I only
watched the match for the cash in anyway.

Wrestlemania 31 as an event itself was a strange one...I mean...why didn't they
book Undertaker vs. Sting? And why didn't Rusev go over Cena?

Still the card was more focused & it was way better than Wrestlemania 32 turned
out to be.

Underwhelming? Fair enough. I think its one of the best matches on the main roster in this decade. I think Pat Patterson called it a "modern classic" or something.

WrestleMania 31 is the last good WrestleMania in my opinion. Last two have been very underwhelming for we. I blame it on them pushing Roman too much.

Imagine if Brock wins. That would be very unexpected. Not sure if it would be a positive tho. That maybe even more anti climatic then Roman winning 3 main events in a row.

Well...everyone that watches wrestling will see something different in each match.

So the Lesnar vs. Reigns match FOR ME was just repeated power moves (German suplex,
F-5, Superman Punch, Spear) over & over again...and I'm more of a fan of technical mat
wrestling & wrestlers with a variety of offensive moves & defensive counter moves.

If a wrestling fan is happy to watch the same power moves over & over again and cheer
as every moves lands...then fine...they find that entertaining.

I.Do.Not...

Well...not unless its a complete train wreck with multiple guys trying to destroy each other...
see the Summerslam 2017 main event for the best recent example of that kind of match...
but I was also invested because of Strowman & Joe being involved & the faint glimmer
of hope that Lesnar was leaving so they would put the belt on Strowman...which I still think
they should have on that very night.

To me a "modern classic" is something more like Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate Rd.1 from TakeOver
Chicago or even the recent Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. Johnny Gargano Rd.3 from TakeOver
Philadelphia.

I personally want high quality, versatile wrestling that has a solid build & tells a great story in the
ring...not two muscle headed steroid takers hitting the same moves over & over again.

We had enough of that in the 80's & early 90's thank you very much.

But again...these are my own personal opinions & preferences and if other fans out there enjoy
Lesnar vs. Reigns Rd.2...good for them.

I will not be watching it.

Again, from the resident pessimist, we aren't sitting here staring at Cena going for title 17 vs champ Jinder Mahal a few weeks after Fumble at the Rumble III: Oh Look Roman Wins Again like I posted a few months ago. So yay. Wrestlemania baby, woo!

Reigns vs Lesnar is gonna kick ass, i guarentee it will be more exciting than Styles vs Nakamura. Dont get me wrong, Styles vs Naka will be a great match, but Reigns vs Lesnar will be way more intense. They really should find a way to make it a triple threat, and add Rollins in the mix since it basically turned into a triple threat at 31 anyway

And just because I almost wrote a bunch of off topic Grievous-entertaining paragraphs about 2012 TNA, random question. Does anyone else look back at this title reign for Lesnar and wonder what could have been? If they just took their clearly laid plans that every single fan has known about for a year and let their fandom live off of hope that those gears could (but probably wouldnt) have a wrench thrown in them, what if things did change?

What if Braun randomly DID win the belt, shockingly? What if they did strike when the iron was red-hot?

*sigh*

Even more shocking would be Brock retaining. How unexpected should that be?

It would be a pretty HUGE swerve...but it ain't happening...
& because Corbin "lost" his MitB briefcase...the Plank of
Wood is leaving that arena with the big red belt.

I wonder if Lesnar will get a bonus for allowing the Plank
to pin him clean at the biggest event of the year?

What a great tag line...

Wrestlemania 34...Meh.

Like you can say it shouldn't be that way. We can make threads where we talk about the... Like 15 matches that we'd like to see that feel "Mania-worthy", and we'd STILL leave some big names off the card. The rumored card had what, eight matches? With no Owens Zayn Balor Roode Orton Joe Strowman Sasha or the tag or crusierweight divisions? Hmm.

But like, if you gave me the book today and was like hey Snow, book Mania... I wouldn't know what to do. Or what I'd want to book. Lol. So meh, Roman vs Lesnar, why not
