1997 actually and no, that was generally how DQ rules where back then. WWE plays loose with the rules these days. I've seen matches where guys would get in the ring and no DQ and then matches like these.

I wasn't really calling out WCW, but things did get progressively sketchier from 1996 onward... That's all I'm saying..
