I haven't been burned yet by looking at each individual situation and deciding if I agree with the people saying not to use a word or phrase at least

There's been words I didn't know were actual slurs bc I wasn't aware of the origin and hadn't been around anyone it actually affected, made sense to me, I stopped using those words

There's been plenty others I've been told (usually by other white people) are offensive and it just doesn't seem to me that people of those cultures think that lol

I remember back in probably 2019, some folks were mad at NBA players for saying "pause" in a press conference (basically the modern and much less inflammatory "no homo") which was one point in time where I had to be like damn, we getting on people's ass for anything these days

it got to the point where acknowledging any stereotype even if it wasn't offensive to the people were seen as just as bad as making actual hateful remarks

But I think a lot of people also don't acknowledge that the most frivolous of those examples almost never get off the ground lol you just see people upset about it but at worst it just results in a half ass apology and no consequences but then we have to be distracted debating what words are bad for months after

the clever ones just figure out which ones people aren't offended by bc of double standards. The Italians get it like crazy now bc it's deemed fine lol
